I really enjoyed watching this lads, great film. I went to New Zealand in 2006 to visit a friend for 3 weeks who lived in Christchurch at the time and ended up staying for 12 months. One day i had a real lightbulb moment and decided I was going to take a train to the North island, explore and cycle back to Christchurch. So I bought the cheapest MTB i could find equipped with front and back lights along with a lock. My kit comprised of two pair of football shorts, two football tops, two pair socks, a small rucksack, sleeping bag, a t-shirt, combat shorts, flip flops and a pair of PRADA trainers that looked like Donald Ducks head(hideous looking things but I thought I looked cool). I had not peddled a bike for about 15 years, so when my mate told me my "planned" journey was about 400 miles, in parts absolutely no sign of life on deserted roads so he advised equipping myself with safety equipment and at times there may be nowhere to stay at night(hence the sleeping bag). So i pushed the boat out bought one of those foil blankets, a whistle, a tiny keychain torch, a mars bar and a snickers and off I went. One day later with saddle sores, blisters on my feet and hands and terrible sunburn and a tinge of regret for the birth of a crazy lightbulb plan. The regret lasted all of 10mins as the unbelievable scenery all around had me. On my left was the beach and Pacific Ocean, on my right intermittent mountains and pine forests. Every so often I would encounter menacing packs of EMU and Deer who would form small relay teams to sprint along aide me giving me the real evil side eyes. Anyway the point of writing this was it turned into a wonderful adventure where I encountered very few people or cars at times and very definitely multiple 200meter sprints being chased by menacing EMU. Memories i will treasure the rest of my life
Greetings from California. This was my favorite bike adventure. Thank you so much for putting it together into one continuous film. Can’t wait to sit down and watch the whole movie without interruption! 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️❤
You do a really great job of documenting your experiences, and as I have said before, I also like the way you stay positive and upbeat…you are living out some of our dreams…thank you for sharing.
Very enjoyable, and so much easier to watch as a feature-length film! I watched a couple of Francis's other journeys as playlists, and this is so much easier.
Hi Francis&Chris.Just watched this, and,It’s a great video.Really enjoyed watching your journey through Australia 🇦🇺. Wonder if youse will do anymore bike packing in Australia 🇦🇺 in the future? Be good to see.Francis, the Vanilla Coca-Cola’s are still good as ever, and, drink them whenever I ride.Chris, iced coffee’s come in handy too, especially when you’re hanging out for caffeine. 😁👍
WOW ! Incredible "trip" Francis & Chris. Australia on a "badass" motorbike looks tediously arse numbing ! On a cycle ! 🙉 Thanks for making it into a movie 🎬 🦟 ☀️ 🦟🦟 🐪🐫 🦘 🦘🦘
Wow, epic adventure in a beautiful country. I had planned Sydney to Perth solo some 25 years ago but chickened out of it, now in my 60s i still have wonderful memories of cycling all over Aus!
I love seeing the familar sights and roads I ride around in the first section of this! The Esplanade hotel, the PSP paths, the roads out in the hills, its great!
Glad to watch this, but unlike many of your other rides no desire to do it. Find some of New Zealand's straight flat roads bad enough and they're only an hour or two at your pace. I need hills!
Epic trip. Really enjoying it. I’ve cycled Adelaide to Sydney before. Mini version of the Nullabor between Balranald and Hay, 100km dead straight road into a strong head wind. Also been on a few roads in WA. The snakes are venomous btw. Great film!
Just a watched your epic ride. Absolutely incredible and awesome miles each day. Did you ever work out how many litres of coke you drank? When I was touring it was called the red ambulance 😂. Have you ever wondered if you’d get all tail winds if you returned? Great job along with the additional effort of filming and editing
Do you share your equipment list anywhere? I would also like to know how much money you spent on your supplies throughout the trip. Food & drink. Do you have a budget or plan or just play it by ear”ear”… you need what you need? While I am asking - how long did it take you to plan out the logistics? Anyway, really enjoy your vids. Thank you
Ah, the good old days…Jam Cycling, Attacus, Francis actually on a bike, adventures with Chris, in search of kangaroos and koalas! Bring back the old days!
Looking at the back of Chris' helmet, I'm pretty sure that the black and white fanned stripe pattern is what was provoking the magpies because it looks a lot like a magpie's outstretched wings. Probably just as well it didn't look like a Drop Bear or you would have really been in trouble!
Magpies in the spring are agressive as hell. You could be wearing anything or nothing on your head and they will still attack you. I got chased by them every year for my whole childhood riding my bike to school. We didn't wear helmets back then (1980's).
For 9 months of the year Australian magpies are beautiful birds that are friendly and have a lovely morning song. Then September hits and they turn into psychopaths
Half way through so far, really enjoyable vid. Did I miss what kind of bikes you’re using? ( gravel I presume). Plus what’s the contraption on Chris’s front fork?
Really loved watching, the huge amount of dust in the air also reflects some sunlight, making you a little cooler. Does anyone know the artists behind the music of the film?
I just returned from a month trip trough Australia (with a car) and although I did see some kangaroos, I certainly saw more signs warning about kangaroos and of course far more death ones and not really much other wildlife, just a few lizards.
I recently watched the series where you went through the Nevada desert and Death Valley. I’m going to say I prefer the desert southwest, but I’m biased. #lasvegasnative
Out of curiosity, how many bottles of vanilla coke did you consume between you? I really hope you kept track. Seriously though, great video lads, inspired me to plan my first bike packing trip across Europe next year.
It is an epic video and thanks for putting up a great content! Please do not shoot it in Portrait Mode. It is only good in still images, but for videos, it is not fun to watch :), very tiring on the eyes.
You were running tubeless…was that smart? I know you had some challenges early did you change out tires during the trip? Oh - lol - you did change tires. Wow, your back tires were worn.
Snakes are not to be taken lightly. One of my kids was bitten by a black snake in NSW, he was extracted by helicopter, spent some time in hospital and recovered after being pretty sick for a couple of weeks. Don't recommend it
Epic. But I will never understand the urge to edit out nearly every natural pause in conversation... couldn't make it more than 6 mins without my brain rejecting this...
Love that this is now a film. What an incredible experience to share with you, Francis ❤

If you come back again it’s worth riding down the east coast a lush green part of Australia but you must bring Chris Hall with you !
We loved following it, Chris (and Francis)!
@@CadeMediaExtradefinitely subscribed to Chris after my first watch of this trip!

Emu... in NZ 🤔 only encountered them in Zoos over here. (in NZ)
Congrats guys on riding across our little island, massive achievement. Glad you got to meet the boyz, Derek & Nigel. Thanks for the ride 👏👍💪👌
Finally got round to watching the film of the ride. Really enjoyed it all as one film. Thanks for sharing.
1:34:44 FFAF. What a song.
I never comment on UA-cam videos, but what a great watch. 10/10. What an adventure you guys had !
Greetings from California. This was my favorite bike adventure. Thank you so much for putting it together into one continuous film. Can’t wait to sit down and watch the whole movie without interruption! 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️❤
So this is my third of these long films I’ve watched tonight. Love this format, it suits them so well
Amazing film and effort lads! Total props to you both on this epic ride. Took me back to my younger Oz bike touring days, cheers again!
You do a really great job of documenting your experiences, and as I have said before, I also like the way you stay positive and upbeat…you are living out some of our dreams…thank you for sharing.
What a watch! a rainy bank holiday monday = watched this from start to finish. Incredible as always
Very enjoyable, and so much easier to watch as a feature-length film! I watched a couple of Francis's other journeys as playlists, and this is so much easier.
Great photography lads got to watch the magpies 😂
Glad you’ve put these episodes together 😊
Llama is a genuine treasure! Such a nice human.
Love this! Awesome content. Watched it on the trainer- so good

Thank you for these awesome cross country bike tours. I love watching the different cultures and scenery that you record on your many adventures!
WOW ! Incredible "trip" Francis & Chris.

On a cycle ! 🙉
Thanks for making it into a movie 🎬 🦟 ☀️ 🦟🦟
🐪🐫 🦘 🦘🦘
I've loved this. Hard to comprehend the miles you covered and the calories you consumed!
Amazing stuff, think we need a new bike packing adventure now you done all the previous as movies 🙏🏽
Thank you for the vid
Oh yeah finally the new video already coming out! Please share more video like this!👍🏼
Absolutely love these, can't wait for more long form content like this
What an incredible experience to share with you, Francis
This is really well done… like I was along for the ride w/ hooligan legends!! 🤘
Nice can’t remember if I have seen this before but regardless will enjoy (re)watching again.
This was so cool to watch. Thank you!!
Shane and Mave are such good humans.
That was very enjoyable!
Can't believe I ran the whole thing in the Summer of 2001.
Wow, epic adventure in a beautiful country.
I had planned Sydney to Perth solo some 25 years ago but chickened out of it, now in my 60s i still have wonderful memories of cycling all over Aus!
Great to revisit in this condensed form. Bring back Maven!
Wow what a ride. Congrats on this massive ride. Whoa! Very cool
Haha I decided to watch this whole series a month ago when i was craving a bike adventure. glad you made it into a film
Watched this on a rainy afternoon in the UK. Never craved a long ride in the sun so much
How much do we love Australia, bikes and you Brits;
I love seeing the familar sights and roads I ride around in the first section of this! The Esplanade hotel, the PSP paths, the roads out in the hills, its great!
Great film! Trying to work out what bar end mirrors you are using, does anyone know please?
Glad to watch this, but unlike many of your other rides no desire to do it. Find some of New Zealand's straight flat roads bad enough and they're only an hour or two at your pace. I need hills!
David is a true legend ! Next stop New Zealand Yeah, nah ?
Would love to know more about the camera set up you guys take on a trip like this and how you pack your gear!
Great film

WHY AM I JUST NOW KNOWING THIS??? I JUST FINISHED THE SERIES AGAIN AND I WATCHED IT BY EPISODE🙃
Love the color grading. Nice job
Een super bikepacking trip die jullie hebben ondernomen was een hele klus maar hebben volbracht.
Hi gents - what were the mirrors you were using & discussing at 53:30?
Awesome!
Do you share your equipment list anywhere?
I would also like to know how much money you spent on your supplies throughout the trip. Food & drink.

Wondering what camera strap that was and the, "it's the yellow edition of it's custom made" got me good. I do like that strap though.
Francis - more watchable on road than in studio. Chris always watchable wherever. Great video.
Awesome film. Cade media should do more like this 🎉🥳

Hi there, what are those bags that look like laptop sleeves attached to your Tailfin racks?
Half way through so far, really enjoyable vid. Did I miss what kind of bikes you’re using? ( gravel I presume). Plus what’s the contraption on Chris’s front fork?
It's suspension; leaf springs.
It's a Lauf fork so google it, it's interesting tech.
Haha the fuck off addition! Was well excited to find out to get my hands on one. My bottom lip is fully out Chris ☹
"Because water sucks, it really really sucks."😂😂😂
Really loved watching, the huge amount of dust in the air also reflects some sunlight, making you a little cooler. Does anyone know the artists behind the music of the film?
141:55 "F Off You Penguin!"
Wow, loving your videos. Please let me know. What’s that song at 10.21 ? Don’t stop.. it’s in my head and I can’t get it out😀
Anybody got an ID on that camera strap? I want one, but have no clue where to start searching.
Love it, just needed some image stabilization on that camera… Other than that, awesome film
2:50 First Vanilla Coke
S.KOREA FAN^^ ❤💛💚💜 👉yesterday🤗
👏🏻 how much you spend on food and snacks?
What tires did you run?
Continuity error at 39:49? Title says Norseman, but previous scene you were already in Balladonia.
You see nothing for hours and hours, days and days, same road, same trees, you finally see a fr*kin’ kangooroo and you don’t even stop😂 WHY!?
I just returned from a month trip trough Australia (with a car) and although I did see some kangaroos, I certainly saw more signs warning about kangaroos and of course far more death ones and not really much other wildlife, just a few lizards.
Great film lads would have liked to have seen the Aussie curry 🍛
I recently watched the series where you went through the Nevada desert and Death Valley. I’m going to say I prefer the desert southwest, but I’m biased. #lasvegasnative
What year is this from?
This is brilliant. When did this ride happen?
You were running tubeless…was that smart?
I know you had some challenges early did you change out tires during the trip?
When did happen??
Oh 4 years ago
As someone cycling in Ireland it's funny to hear someone complain about headwind. What is tailwind? 😂
sea to summit head nets - for your next visit =)
Maybe the flies like salty suncream.
Out of curiosity, how many bottles of vanilla coke did you consume between you? I really hope you kept track.
Seriously though, great video lads, inspired me to plan my first bike packing trip across Europe next year.
What was your guys budget on gas station food?!
Who’s sick mind made the transition at 1:38:38 🤯
The thumbnail for this video shows an "R" rating, but I cannot find anywhere what this means on UA-cam? Are you able to clarify?
Haha, you get used to the flies ......you just need to ride faster than them!
I remember dropping off their care packages 📦 with my son
that was such a nice surprise! thank you!!!
800th like ✅

Oh - lol - you did change tires. Wow, your back tires were worn.

All jokes aside, that town is creepy as shit

Is Francis vegan? How do you find suitable food when in the middle of nowhere? Genuinely wondering..
I thought that much Coke would be fatal ?!?!?
Ffs servos are not called gas stations!
vegitarian lol lame
