Yes, five years! I live inUK and have just discovered Prolotherapy by Oliver Eaton in Bedford. This is a form of Ozonetherapy which has been known for over a hundred years and used all over the world. P.S it’s not driving but twisting the knee when getting into the car. I learned to do a little jump!
Thank you for the summary. Could you edit the swimming part to include breaststroke? At first, I thought all swimming was banned until I read another summary. Freestyle is OK.
I've been dealing with a meniscus tear for about five months. Too bad the bonehead therapist I went to didn't watch this video. He kept having me do squats and then had me work on getting up from a chair using only my legs. After seven weeks of his "therapy", I now have two bad knees instead of one. In my experience, good therapists are about as rare as unicorns.
I went to see a physio before mine had been scanned, few months after the tear who bent my leg and knee in directions a knee should never go, announced it had great flexibility and I left there with the exact pain I had after it tore all over. Had my tear year and a half now and was just told there’s multiple things wrong with your knee and that it’s physio, steroids and then keyhole if those don’t help enough and no guarantee the surgery will change a thing. I’m 27 so really don’t want knee surgery

This has been the BEST video by far that I’ve seen on the Meniscus!! Thank You so much for this knowledge! I sit on my foot a lot and lock my knee when I walk to avoid pain. My knee does feel better after Ive been on it walking. And I had no idea that immobilizing my knee would be worse! All great stuff! Thanks Doctor!!
Sir, you hit the mark with this video. Explained in detail, was spoken clearly as well as slow enough to be able to understand your words & it was put together just like a puzzle. Thanx for this!!
Had scope in 2019 on right knee where they trimmed a small section, absolutely no regrets. It is as functional as it ever was, even for deep squatting and running. Had left one done 11 days ago. Just now starting to feel better. My therapy guy has me locking it out to stretch the muscles but it irritates it. So I'm going to stop that nonsense, thanks for putting that in your video. I can tell you through experience you're speaking truth in everything you said. Much appreciated.
Tore my right meniscus a few months back and I can't do any of those 9 things - I am good. Glad to say the meniscus is getting better and 5 months later I can finally sleep without experiencing pain.

So glad I saw this video. Sitting on my foot on the couch is exactly how my knee pain started. I am still waiting for my orthopedic appointment, but pretty sure I do have a meniscus tear. Thank you for such a great video! I also do move things with my foot, but I will not do that anymore!
I had surgery 10 years ago for a medial tear and was good till I sat for a while on the sofa with my foot tucked under me a few months back... I’ve been in pain ever since. It’s such a comfortable way to sit -- I hate knowing that I can’t do it anymore.

Thank God for your video! I did everything that your video said not to do. As a man over 50, I kept running, jumping, and heavy lifting that eventually lead to a knee injury, descriptive of a meniscus injury. It's been almost a year and the pain flares up when doing the "wrong things", and I still can't run. Will take your advice from here on out. 😅
You are sooo right about the driving! OMG my leg gets stiff everytime and it's been months since my surgery. My Dr. Instructed me how to get in and out the vehicle. Thank you such good advice! On point!
Thank you soooo much. At last I understand why twisting my right foot to the right resulted in the meniscus tear 5yrs ago. I’ve had every diagnosis from torn muscle, trapped nerve, arthritis etc and finally after 3yrs, an ultrasound showed a meniscus tear. I locked my knee out whilst stretching last month and now I know why it was so painful.
The no squats make total sense because every time I feel good again I'll do a warm up and that's when it feels like it goes. And yes I had a bad habit of sitting on my legs on the sofa, thankfully I've kicked that habit out.

This is extremely helpful. I torn my meniscus a year ago but didn't know what was wrong until I finally had an MRI a couple weeks ago. It's a small tear at the back and the doctors have advised that I should get a steroid injection. However I don't want to take that as it only treats the pain and doesn't help it heal. Another person has told me that the meniscus doesn't heal so now I'm conflicted. Does it heal and if so how long is the healing process usually
Hi there. I’m also having a torn meniscus of grade 2. The research I’ve conducted (I myself is a doctor) and the Orthopaedic surgeons I have came across, told me to go through the physiotherapist exercises and get an MRI done after 6 months. It takes around 3 to 9 months to heal completely. Keep an eye on the aggravating factors. Grade 1 and 2 heal without a surgery, whereas grades 3 and 4 needs surgical intervention. I hope I have answered your query.

I have the exact same question. How are you doing now? I had ACL surgery 8 months ago and was having pain. Did an MRI and now I have a meniscus tear! I don't want another surgery, again. Did your's heal on its own? My Dr. said they don't heal without surgery.

I had px for 1 1/2 years. I made the decision to get surgery. I'm post op 5 days. The px is gone! I have swelling and stiffness that I am carefully working with iibuprofen , bending. I can't imagine 4 years of that px! I hope you find relief soon!
The number 1 thing to avoid is SURGERY for removal of the meniscus or parts of it!!!, I had a meniscus tear and even when I had little pain and almost 100% motion and no lock, the doctor still recommended the surgery but now I see he did it for a cash grab!, another doctor recently told me with a new MRI that my inner meniscus was removed almost completely and says the thin layer of meniscus remaining will degenerate quickly and probably I will need replacement of the knee in 5-7 years because of this... What's your view on that?, I think there are some very shady doctors that don't care if you'll end up worse than before as long as they can get some money out of you!
This is a great point, I agree surgery to remove the meniscus should be avoided if possible. The meniscus is a shock absorber and has a very important job. I can't comment on shady doctors but I appreciate the concern and I have met many people who agree with you.
I am 28 who suffered a degenerative meniscus tear after traumatic injury, I do get pain sometimes however I am more or less back to normal (I am 1 year out with no surgery)
Is there anything that helped you in healing and did or do you use any types of knee supports ? Mine will be two years this summer. The pain is always worst at night and keeps me awake
I had surgery last January and my doctor took most of my meniscus out . I was doing better , but now here lately i have a lot of trouble with it . Its very hard for me to walk down hill and almost as hard to walk up hill . I work 11 hour shifts on my feet every night 6 to 7 nights a week . Im getting to where i can't walk .

My meniscus tear occurred because my legs were in such great shape. I had been doing squats, leg extensions, and leg curls for 6 months, prior to thinking I could carry and toss 120lb logs around my back yard without damaging a 70 year old meniscus. I'm in my 5th week of recovery and am continuing to make slow progress. The swelling has subsided to the area of the joint line, The pain isn't constant and doesn't radiate like it once did. I won't be doing one legged squats on my bad leg for a bit.
Thank you very useful to know. Driving my automatic I’m ok as I drive a left footed automatic however I need to be careful of how I rest my right leg as it’s that knee I’ve injured x
I am 18 and i got a sports injury a year and a half ago.I ignored it as a common injury but now the symptoms persist and i got my knee checked recently.I get pain at deep squat and cannot fully extend my knee Am i too late for treatment?,Can i still completely heal my knee so that i can deep squat without pain ?Can i use weights after healing? Please Clarify my doubts as I am quite fond of sports and this injury snatches my opportunities away..
Thank you so much for this info! I have a much better understanding now of how I ended up with my recent Root tear of my meniscus ( currently awaiting surgery) I am guilty of most of 9 ! Any suggestions re the ROOT tear would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you, this is super helpful! Just found out I have tears in both knees. I was doing a few things right but was definitely resting too much. My Dr. also said it was ok to run which seemed odd to me. I don't plan on running but I will start biking again. I started having the problem after I did very low second position squats while carrying a weight. I'm wondering if it's ok to stretch your hamstrings and calf muscles when you have a meniscus tear?
All the theraphist make the others do. It. The more they make it , seem like it hurts more. What is the solution to meniscus tear? Why can't ortho doctors treat it?
I’ll add the 10th thing tho- 10) Avoid overeating and start dieting to lose weight so your knees feel at ease the fatter you are the worse it is for the knees
Something I haven't heard addressed is a Baker Cyst forming due to a Meniscus Tear. I have a Baker Cyst on the back of my knee. My Ortho suspects I have a Meniscus Tear. I will be having an MRI soon to find out for sure. If so, depending on the severity, I may have to have an Arthoscopy. I cannot stand from a seated position without pain.
Hello! I hope you are doing well. I recently got my MRI results, and it mentioned a grade 3 tear at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The report also states that the ACL is not adequately seen. There's no joint effusion. I'm quite worried and hesitant about surgery. Can this be fixed through physiotherapy and a knee immobilizer? I really want to explore alternatives to surgery. Your insights would mean a lot to me during this challenging time. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi thank you a lot for these insights. I am a dancer and I tore my meniscus three months ago, it has been getting better without me knowing that it was torn just by giving it time and doing strength exercises. However, three weeks ago I did an MRI because the clicking was still not gone and I was still not able to fully squat, so I found out it was torn. Last week it actually turned way worse after a training where I fully squatted a lot to get on the floor. So now that I know it’s the meniscus I am wondering what is meant with healing? Are those things that I should avoid for the rest of my life? If the cartilage does not grow together again, how will the pain actually disappear and the healing be completed? Best greets, Leo

Is there anything that helped you in healing and did or do you use any types of knee supports ? Mine will be two years this summer. The pain is always worst at night and keeps me awake
Thanks Sir, please make videos of exercises on 3rd grade meniscus tear of knee.

Thank you for sharing this information.
Thank you for the tips. God, bless you
One of a kind great tips!
I am 18 and i got a sports injury a year and a half ago.I ignored it as a common injury but now the symptoms persist and i got my knee checked recently.I get pain at deep squat and cannot fully extend my knee
Am i too late for treatment?,Can i still completely heal my knee so that i can deep squat without pain ?Can i use weights after healing?
Please Clarify my doubts as I am quite fond of sports and this injury snatches my opportunities away..
So helpful, Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you so much for this info! I have a much better understanding now of how I ended up with my recent Root tear of my meniscus ( currently awaiting surgery)
I am guilty of most of 9 !
👍👏😎TYVM! Well done mate!
Had a meniscus tear diagnosed at last after 8 years of pain! Was told just arthritis. Its both now don't know what to do

Thank you for sharing
I’ll add the 10th thing tho- 10) Avoid overeating and start dieting to lose weight so your knees feel at ease the fatter you are the worse it is for the knees
Something I haven't heard addressed is a Baker Cyst forming due to a Meniscus Tear. I have a Baker Cyst on the back of my knee. My Ortho suspects I have a Meniscus Tear. I will be having an MRI soon to find out for sure. If so, depending on the severity, I may have to have an Arthoscopy. I cannot stand from a seated position without pain.
Many thanks ❤
How are you now, how it is feeling
