    I had not seen this in the spring and WOW! I'm so happy to see fitted jackets, skinny scarves, skinny jeans with floaty blouses a la Kate Moss, especially since I was trying to recreate the look myself, having missed it in the 90s. I am tired of seeing those ridiculous over-over-sized swampy blazers, etc., too much fabric. As a petite woman they are very unflattering so I love Celine's style. Thank you Mary

      Yes I definitely see the appeal as a petite woman. Thank you for watching💕

      I think they never went out for those that is the most flattering. I never got rid of mind and wear them when they suit the outfit!!

    Thanks for reviewing. I watched the show last night and I truly feel like HS has run out of ideas. It’s giving MNG/Zara at a premium. It just speaks to the fact that we have too many seasons.

      Yes, I do think he is more interested in creating commercial products as opposed to ground-breaking avant-garde design. Thank you for watching💕

      We definitely do and I've been noticing that with brands the collections look so boring if a little repetitive like maybe take a season of to let ur creative juices to flow instead of rushing to put out for a new season

    Agreed. It's very 2004-2007 Lou Doillon, Kate Moss, Mischa Barton, Rachel Zoe. But with an updated silhouette (broader up top), and less glam, less boho beautiful.

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  11 місяців тому +1

      Yes exactly! It's less glam and a bit more edgy. Thank you for watching!

    i also cannot imagine gen z being much into the vibe of indie sleaze. maybe only a few fashion design students will be kind of into it
    i already started re-wearing skinny jeans in a darker shade of blue. whether it is a pair from cheap monday or a pair from zara that i bought for 3€ at the flea market. i also have a nearly skinny jeans from weekday which i always wear in the winter because they give me more warmth than wide leg/mom/straight/any type of loose fit jeans. they sort of feel like a warmer pair of leggings and fit well with boots and dr martens

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  Рік тому +4

      I totally get you about wearing skinny jeans for warmth. The idea of wearing cargo pants alone in the winter is a no for me. I do think that skinny jeans with dr martens will always have that effortlessly cool, punk rock energy. Thank you for watching💕

    yeah i think it’s coming back , as 20 years old genz who grew up idolizing millennials , i always wanted to wear things like that and now that I’m old enough and have my own money i totally get inspired by this kind of fashion heck I even got my side part ! great video ❤

    Took my low rise, dark indigo skinnies out a week ago…I friggin loved it. I was in my early to mid 20s when indie hit…ohhh the memories. I’m ready for a the indie “eddiesance”. And you’re right, they sure don’t make music like that anymore. The Strokes self-titled album is still a killer album.

      It's such a good album!! I wish I could still fit, I definitely can't wear lowrise the way I used to. But appreciating the slimmer fits. Thank you for watching!

    I was always sort interested in the Row and Celine and other similar brands. I had friends making fun of me never using colour. Honestly sometimes I feel like as a gay man, not being super colourful can be interpreted as being femme-phobic or internalised homophobic. Anyway because of that I kind of stayed away from being too minimalistic but since I’ve been following you it made me realised this more my natural style. I was living in Denmark before the pandemic so that helped me revert a bit back to a simpler atheistic, which was funny because my Danish bf at the time looked more like Gucci inspired thrift shop. I still have some colour but for core pieces I prefer this type of style, so I’m in my element watching your videos. I’d happily be 1 of 5 people watching one of those videos 👏

      Really appreciate your perspective. I never thought about how neutrals come across as femme-phobic, but when you explain the cultural context, I see what you mean. I think for me, when I look at iconic figures that are neutral-heavy like Coco Chanel, Mary Kate &Ashley Olsen, Phoebe Philo, I almost appreciate them from a feminist perspective as liberating women through their designs. I know that it's not a 1-1 comparison, but I too used to wear colours and dye my hair crazy colours until I realized neutrals look best on me. Thank you so much for watching💕

      @@MarysRoom Thanks for such a thoughtful response. Honestly, with those people there was other issues and a lot of bullying behaviour …I think we all end up with those type of friends and it could be 14, 24 or 44. I have female friends who similarly were told off for “being too masculine” by other women for wearing darker colours or simpler designs and childish for being too bright and patterny. Style is so subjective and while social media can be problematic for encouraging fast fashion or normalising €10,000 hauls…the positives is we can see others who share our sense in style or can inspire us. Sometimes that’s all that’s needed to undo the loss in confidence we may have from throw away comments or passive aggressive remarks especially channels like yours that are very analytical and explain an aesthetic

    • @MarysRoom
      @MarysRoom  Рік тому +1

      Good points and you're right these people will always exist. Style is subjective, and if anyone is psychoanalyzing someones style to the point of bullying needs to take a pause and touch grass. These are just inanimate objects. Anyone that tries to box us into their own vision of fashion doesn't understand the concept of personal style. Appreciating style differences is what makes fashion so great

    I think anything 20 years ago will have a resurgence. Thats usually the right amount to pull from the archives and reintroduce it to the youth who are looking to the past for inspiration. But I feel it's really only for the kids. But God is this taking me back to my late teens/early 20s

    Love your channel Mary. You hit great topics but only touch the surface most times. For example in your vid about experimental or lesser known old Celine bags you picked 3 or 4 bags out of probably 25 -30 sty;es . In your video about inexpensive Celine bags you missed sooooooo many that are only available pre loved in the 300-600 range. I’m not trying to be critical, only support your ideas which are great and you’re the only one talking about them. I hear other people refer to your vids on UA-cam so you are headed in the right direction. So bottom line, no need for unboxings, just more info on what you’ve already done would be awesome.

    I don't think so. Even the low rise are cut fuller. Even the tight jeans have some fullness at the bottom. Skinny scarfs and long necklaces will always be in but it seems as if the kids are moe into stretch leggings than skinny jeans or the levi's fitted. But I could be totally off.
