that's what I thought, even if I could the world's biggest hospital, or just enough hospitals that we'd need, we wouldn't have enough people trained to staff them
My girlfriend is a COVID nurse and what she’s been through no wonder they are quitting. Exposure to COVID with little to no proper PPE. Cuts to hours and pay. Raises, 401ks, promotions all cut. Overtime pay cut. No more CNAs, nurses now do the work of a CNA on top of everything. Basically, I am subsidizing the cost of a nurse to work right now. A lot of nurses have quit because they literally can’t afford rent and food anymore.
@Patrice Patrick Oh I do. We live in the city and for our entire adult lives never needed a car. But I broke down and bought a used car so her life is a little bit easier. With lockdown her options were to take the L, and I didn’t want her exposed like that. So now she has a car to use to visit friends (safely, outdoors, with masks). And due to lockdown we were worried about getting enough outside time. So I got a nice outdoor furniture set and spruced up our terrace. It’s been expensive, but despite the situation we are luckier than most.
Where is she working as a COVID nurse where her hours are being cut and pay reduced? Places COVID is rampant overtime is a must and COVID nurses are the highest paid and most in demand. So strange she’s going through this as a COVID nurse my husband is a COVID nurse and is experiencing the opposite of her.
In contrast, here in South Australia, where 20 odd cases in the city of Adelaide have been diagnosed, the ENTIRE state now has a 6 day lock down. Masks are mandated for trips to supermarket. Just do it and get on with it. People need to let go of the ridiculous conspiracy theories. My heart goes out to all the doctors and nurses on the front line.
Are you sure our Democratic party didn't get you to follow along with the lie to get Biden elected??? And you're wearing masks so now you'll be Communist. Way to go Australia. Yeah. They're all morons. And that was sarcasm for all those in the Comments that didn't get that.

The result you must be referring to is Pfizer and Moderna both American companies were able to create a vaccine in record time that is 94% effective. Yes, I agree with you! These companies were able to solve a problem at a higher effectiveness than others, and so society will reward them with a profit so the people in these companies can benefit from the fruits of their labor. Then these companies will have enough money left over to start researching and solving more medical problems. This way is much more efficient than simply letting a government figure it out. It appears all government knows how to do is to lock people up in their homes.
YES!!! I was preparing to say exactly that. Insurance companies have America by the balls, refuse to take care of people adequately because its not profitable.
I am an RN and I still have PTSD due to this field even though I retired in 2017. I was a good nurse and I was fried. I 100% support these striking nurses.
Nursing is an awarding progression! Although no one talks about the understaffing, heavy lifting, long 12-16 hour shifts, assaults by patients, being spit on, infectious waste, many injuries nurses suffer, inquired work infection/disease! Many Just don't understand the full duties of the Nursing profession!
This seems pretty self explanatory to me, I would think admin the ones in charge of operations, marketing, and finance would be in a more advantageous position from the workers? In any position that would apply
Hospitals are businesses now, money making operations. In the 1980's I made more money working as a janitor in a union job than my RN wife did at the hospital. Only after the Union reps started handing out cards did they get raises. She makes $33 an hour, a plumber makes $50 or 60. Not that they don't deserve that, but so do nurses. Doctors make much, much more.
Absurd question; "where is the breaking point?" ...When there's no one left to care for each other? When the doctors and nurses are completely dead or just chronically fatigued? When we reach 500,000 dead?
This was bound to happen. Applauded as "Essential" but "essentially treated as slaves", robots, widgets, inhuman. Unionize! And, change the value of being essential!
Very true. The frontline medical essential workers are being treated like slaves after the applause, the invisible essential workers, like myself, who are working in grocery stores, sanitation, janitorial work ect. are working in hazardous conditions and ignored.

And under appreciated I’m a nurse and will only work 2 days a week now. It’s just too much right now !!! These medical corporations care about money first!!
I know its disgusting that there is no extra pay but you and your family are at higher risk taking on these patients. And not just nurses but nurse aides, doctors, respiratory therapy ect. All the support staff that help keep things going. I know they talk about the government giving extra money from covid patients but where is it going?
As an RN, nurses get paid more than enough of the huge profits hospitals rake in. The CEO’s, administrators, managers, and doctors all get paid way more than they need. Why do you think healthcare is so unaffordable?
@@boydchappell7243 Im not saying they need to gey rich over it but if they can pay incentives to get more staff in to help with those struggling to care for these patients it would be worth it. Also its not just RNs but the other support staff that dont get paid such a high wage. What about them? Besides a large part of why healthcare is expensive is also because people cant pay their bills because they have no insurance. The equipment and meds are ridiculously high as well. Then you have the higher ups making even more money than that
Xray tech here. At the beginning of covid, it was frightening, didnt know if you were gonna die a month later. A few local restaurants sent medical staff lunches, it was a huge moral booster. People are starting to forget about us again though.
I think with 250,000 deaths then perhaps you could include the funeral directors and staff as well. They are as at risk as the front line medical staff.

It's because the hospital boards all know that the China virus is like getting the flu. Not to mention over 99.5% chance of survival plus we now have a vaccine stop and they know that a cloth mask cant stop a virus.
@@davidhoupt6479 Nothing you have said here is true. Or, at the very least, none of it is completely true. First off, there's no such thing as "China Virus". That's a fake thing created by a fake person with fake hair and a fake tan. But, I assume you are talking about COVID-19. Of all COVID-19 cases, 10-15% present as severe/critical cases, that require medical intervention, including mechanical ventilation. Without that medical intervention, the mortality rate is 10-15%. It is ONLY because of our healthcare workers that the mortality rate has been as low as it has so far. We don't have a vaccine yet. The very earliest we are going to see a vaccine rolled out in any kind of significant numbers is like to be after Biden takes office, and it's going to be months longer than that before enough people in the country are vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Of course, that is assuming that we can convince 95% of the population to actually *get* the vaccine, which I understand you Trumpsters are adamantly opposed to it. (Not that I'm complaining. Y'all wanna die from COVID, that's your prerogative once the rest of us are safe, as far as I'm concerned.) The mask doesn't have to stop a virus. It has to stop water molecules. And even a cheap, 1 dollar cloth mask is more than effective at doing so. Thanks for playing. You didn't get any of the answers correct, so you won't be leaving with any prizes today, but it was great having you on our show.
@Forty Six First and foremost, thank you, for risking your health and safety to try and save people who, the vast majority of, are likely to claim you are lying about what is killing them, as they are dying from the viral infection you are treating them for that they claim is a hoax. I can only imagine what your experience has been like working in critical care during this pandemic, and, on behalf of those of us who are doing our best to keep people out of your care, you have our deepest appreciation. The media has labeled the nations healthcare workers as "frontline workers", but (and I mean this in absolutely no derogatory way), in reality, you folks are the last line of defense against a death toll that could, without exaggeration, be up in the millions. Y'all have saved more lives than most people comprehend, and, sadly, you will likely never be properly recognized for your massive contribution. Certainly not by the people belonging to the ideological group most likely to contract, and consequently, die from COVID, which are the COVID deniers. It is deeply disturbing to think that everything I said in my previous comment can be researched in less than 5 minutes time, but that an upwards of 10's of millions of people are willing to take the word of a politician over the entire global healthcare community's expert advice. It speaks volumes to the necessity of teaching critical thinking skills, and, while I am not a fan of censorship or the nanny state by any means, that some reform of our media may need to take place, along with potential changes to the protections offered by the First Amendment, wherein any person or organization that is reporting information as 'factual' is held up to peer review, and, if found to be disseminating false or skewed information in direct contrast to verifiable fact, should be given an opportunity to rectify the situation, and, should they be unwilling to do so, the misinformative material should be censored, or, at the very least, clearly labeled as opinion or misinformation. Apologies for the long-winded tirade, and thank you again for your contribution to the millions of lives our healthcare workers have saved.
Yeah and I’ve read hundreds upon hundreds of comments with people warning of this exact scenario... it’s absolutely inexcusable how the US government and state politicians have handled the pandemic... the most disappointing fact of the matter is all of the numerous examples of other countries successfully implementing a protocol that has either almost completely eliminated the virus or has greatly reduced the spread... why can’t the US incorporate some if not all of the successful protocols?!
@GIANTS 1921-1922 The cloth and surgical masks do help reduce the spread, but are not 100%. There's ample evidence that they both reduce droplets from one person, and reduce viral load recieved in the other person. If all people wore masks when out, it would help reduce the spread.
@red tube Not clicking your spam video link. Other countries that took masking seriously have all but beaten the virus, with few deaths. Greatest in the world, my foot.

I got Covid, was diagnosed with in at the beginning I got of November. I nearly had to go to the ER because I could not get my breath due to the coughing. I am 28 year old women with a few health issues but nothing life threatening (migraines, bad knee, vitamin deficiency due to auto immune disorders) i am still fighting for every single breath, I am working from home due to the pandemic and going back to work has been absolutely exhausting. My husband and I both still get tired incredibly fast, fight for breath, still coughing, and just overall crappy feeling. THREE AND A HALF WEEKS LATER! We ended up deciding to not go to the ER because we wanted to make sure 1. We avoided exposing other people 2. Didn’t want to take a bed away from someone who needed it more than us 3. Potentially expose us to something that could make us more sick. For a few days I was terrified that my husband and I who had just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary on 10/13 would never get to grow old together. I was terrified he was going to get worse and I would loose him before I life really got started. I am not exaggerating to say poor poor me or saying that I had it worse than anyone else. I’m saying that if a 28 year old women with only minor health issues and I got run the f#ck over by Covid, 3 years ago I nearly died from an infection, I was in the ICU for three days and took almost 3 months to recover. If you asked what was worse, the infection or Covid? I would have a hard time deciding which one it was. The ICU stay was worse medically, I was really scared but, I had confidence I was in good hands. Covid terrified me because we just didn’t know what was going to happen. The unknown of everything, feeling worse than ever for days without one ounce of improvement, and having to watch my husband also go through it. This disease is not fake! This disease is not just a “bad flu”! It is real, it is scary, and I don’t want even my worst enemy to go through it. Let me ask you this: If Covid can hit a 28 year old women this hard, what do you think the damage Covid could do to your grandma or grandpa, your parents, or even you? Please take it seriously, wear a mask, stay home this thanksgiving! Please! Please! Please! Do not let your guard down.

Y'all wanna die from COVID, that's your prerogative once the rest of us are safe, as far as I'm concerned.)
The mask doesn't have to stop a virus. It has to stop water molecules. And even a cheap, 1 dollar cloth mask is more than effective at doing so.
Thanks for playing. You didn't get any of the answers correct, so you won't be leaving with any prizes today, but it was great having you on our show.
@2013name No, it's November 2020, and new daily cases, along with the daily death toll, are higher than they've ever been.
Update yourself, hunny.
Really? Which ones? Mine is fully staffed with nurses & fully stocked with PPE! National Guard has overstocked us infact!
The nurses are overwhelmed bcz we don't care for them. We are still politicking about mask wearing which could have protected from rise if cases
@@camerontaylor7471 Because half of us listen to the medical community, and the other half, follow the orange clown!
@GIANTS 1921-1922 The cloth and surgical masks do help reduce the spread, but are not 100%. There's ample evidence that they both reduce droplets from one person, and reduce viral load recieved in the other person. If all people wore masks when out, it would help reduce the spread.
@red tube So what do you call the masks in countries where Democrats aren't a thing?

Katlyn Anderberg you have a Pre existing auto immune disorder which puts a a higher risk due to over reactive inflammation.
COVID causes extra inflammation. You need to bring your inflammation down, research foods & nutritional supplements. Don’t take the vaccine because it will make your autoimmune condition worse.

Hopefully making it through alive with your husband will be a shared battle won that's memory will fortify you both into wrinkly-ness and 3 o'clock dinners together. You are 28 but you are also very high risk, watch gabor mate consequences of stressed parenting. You're going to need to get healthy again before the west coast starts shaking and really kicks some panic off.
