Was diagnosed with gluten ataxia and coeliacs last year . Fifteen years of pain and illness and was told it was ibs and stress /depression . Hypo thyroid Also a life of migraine . Been gluten free six months ... the improvement is unbelievable . Brain fog and anxiety much better , no .longer anaemic , got energy , migraines reduced infrequency and intensity. I’m no longer snappy , I thought I was menopausal . This has changed my life completely , thanks to an amazing neuro team in Sheffield U.K. when I go to clinic and see the states of poor people in whom the diagnosis was late and much irreversible symptoms I consider myself to be extremely fortunate . Gluten is the food of the devil 😂
I gave up grains seven years ago, but when I gave up dairy two months ago, the difference was amazing. No more gut problems and my toes are growing out straight, also no more chronic itchy skin. Dr. Peter Osborne explains how dairy can be just as bad as gluten.
I am being referred to Sheffield too for gluten ataxia. Do you have to eat gluten when you are seen there? I have just had a gluten challenge (after being gluten free for a year by choice) and only lasted a week. The ataxia, peripheral neuropathy, scleritis and migraines left me incapacitated. I will not be able to eat gluten again. I just hope Sheffield can diagnose by medical history and my gastroenterologists referral letter.
@@wrenfan incredible. I only started a gluten free diet because I thought I might have CFS. I followed the diet for this which was basically Paleo Keto. I felt better after about 6 weeks. I started to do things that I hadn’t in the previous 6 years, like painting the garden fence panels. One at a time, but it was something. Around the 6 month mark, and importantly when I added Iron supplement as my Ferritin was low, I was off and running. I felt normal. I realised gluten was probably the mains cause of my fatigue, but hadn’t realised at this stage that all my neurological symptoms were also related. Around the 9 month mark, I was swimming, walking, gym and cleaning the house. All in one day! Normality had resumed. Hard to believe that in the 2 years earlier I had planned my funeral. I did the gluten challenge after an accidental glutening. I then realised gluten was the issue. As my son and grandson had stomach problems after gluten, I decided to get checked out. This is when I was so ill after only 1 week on gluten. That’s when I googled ataxia after gluten, and gluten ataxia came up. My gastroenterologist and GP hadn’t heard about it but they were brilliant and wanted to know more. Mind you, I went in armed with lots of cited medical evidence, and Prof. Hadjivassiliou’s work in Sheffield. I managed to talk to a nurse at Sheffield, she couldn’t talk to me as such, as I hadn’t been seen yet, but said it could possible take 6-12 months before the antibodies disappear. These antibodies are stored in the hip bones and released when we eat gluten. They then attack the perkinje cells in the cerebellum, which results in ataxia. However, I feel better quicker this time as I am much more aware of cross contamination, and supplement with B12 and Iron, the two nutrients most affected by gluten sensitivity according to my gastroenterologist. I rode a bike recently. I never thought my balance would be good enough. It was heaven. Sorry for the long reply, I am passionate about raising awareness of this now.
Yep I got celiac disease it’s no joke it does cause problems in your brain and your gut and other organs in your body this is a good video thanks for sharing
Why do we crave bread so strongly? It's tough to resist fresh toasted bread (with butter). My goal is to eliminate gluten for a few months to see what happens but, man.. it will be tough!
As an asian we use to eat wheat 3 time a day. Some time i cut off wheat tortilla . This month i useed it again my abdomen was swelling, i feel headache everyday. Yesterday it was so intense due to gastric issue i skipped wheat. Its true that whenever i use wheat my head notifying me you are on wrong direction.
Informative video, new subscriber. I find this so interesting because I'm trying to figure out if my nightly cereal habit is contributing to my lifelong battle with treatment resistant depression. My favorite snack is actually whole grain cereal. I do believe oatmeal is pretty much gluten free so that's instead the route I need to go. I'm soooo tired of the deep depression coupled with brain fog etc.
Glad you found value! Yeah many times it’s the little things we do everyday that can create health or disease. Let me know how it goes! 🤞🏾 PRO-TIP: be sure to get certified gluten-free oatmeal as there can be cross-contamination.
SHOCKER: he COMPLETELY IGNORES the fact that modern wheat is DRENCHED in TOXIC glyphosate right before harvest!! if you use organic wheat and organic rye flour, one shd have much less of a reaction. I found that when i had enough VitD3 in me, ie 10,000 iu/day consistently, my food reactions went down quite a bit.
Glyphosate might be contributing, but I tried organic wheat (from France) and still experienced the same problems. Some people definitely have a hard time with gluten.
It’s possible that grains eaten anywhere in the world cause holes in your gut whether you are celiac or just gluten intolerant or you think you’re neither.
Endoscopy is the gold standard for testing for celiac. It’s also possible to have a sensitivity to fructans instead which you can do an elimination diet for. Fructans are in wheat, onions and garlic and other plant foods
We run a test on our clients that checks for 16 different hidden components to wheat. Feel free to email my team at care@brainsave.com and they’ll send you more info.
My child was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis. A ND suggested removing gluten from his diet. His UC has improved significantly. I plan on taking him to a FMD in the near future to hopefully heal his gut and learn about other sensitivities he has.
TRUE they told me it was stress I found out my hyper thyroid and diarrhea everytime I ate (everything I ate was gluten) was actually due to gluten insensitivity. Although I haven't been tested body has improved. All the best to everyone battling their diet struggles
Great question. If 100% avoidance then typically anywhere from 5 days to several weeks, depending on how sensitive to gluten and how severe the reaction. Good luck!
Yes I have celiac disease too and it’s horrible and it does affect your brain it affects your whole body with inflammation and arthritis fibromyalgia it’s horrible stay away from gluten and eat right and use fruits and vegetables and I find that ginger and turmeric really really helps with inflammation in the gut helps heal the gut and get rid of inflammation and pain but you’re right gotta stay completely away from gluten😩

Gluten is the food of the devil? Bread is mentioned many times in the Bible… So actually gluten is the food of God
