This is so sad. Tibet is one of the major spiritual hearts of the Buddhist community. My heart goes out to all Tibetan people. I pray for Dalai Lama to be given wisdom, he carries a heavy burden of managing relations with China. We are blessed to be able to practice and pray freely. I pray for Tibet now and then. I shall continue to do so. China has extinguished the lamp of Compassion, by destroying its cultural heritage, it gives rise to many problems in its society. It wishes to destroy the Light of Wisdom in Tibet. May Tibetan people preserve their language, culture, and spirituality by all means possible. It should be noted that the reversal is possible, that Tibet may become the spiritual heart that saves China. I believe that the best way is to allow Tibetan people to study both languages Tibetan and Mandarin Chinese. Speaking two languages always brings the advantage of broadening the horizon of knowledge and gives access to appreciating a different culture.
Only about spiritual freedom? Why not talk about serfdom, nobility, religious corrupt, religious that involved child labor.

This is not a surprise. The communist party have even tried to purge elements of Han Chinese culture which do not align with the communist party's marxist-leninist ideology. Even confucionism has become tainted and dilluted by the communist party censors as in their view nothing should obscure the image of the party and it's leaders. That said, the Qing dynasty also tried to erase the Tibettan culture when they conquered Tibet in the 1700s as they did with the attrocities committed by the Qing against the Dzungars.

There are many western tourists being to Tibet and Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. If China is cracking down on languages it is very hard to explain the fact that places like Inner Mongolia that the traditional written language is still taught in school while Mongolia is now trying to reintroduce the language after it was destroyed in 1920s. Tibetan language were taught in the school in Tibet, Tibetan government in exile is a slogan party and just more lies. The students in Tibet learn both Tibetan language and also mandarin. Talking about cultural genocide what did the anglo saxon people did in the countries they colonized, how many Australian Aboriginals can now speak their native language or how many American Indians can speak their languages, I bet it is going to be a lot less than Tibetans, Mongolians and Uighurs in China.

Ladakh: It used to be a part of Tibet. It gained independence when Qing dynasty was weak, and was later incorporated into the British India. China formally gave up this region.

For me, I see no issue here. I see no issue with a unified national culture. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Yes English and Hindi have been leading to extinction of many local indigenous languages and dialects in India
But they r not forcing us or conducting national exams only in Hindi right! I'm south indian. So if they do something like banning language in our state and using only Hindi language while conducting exams, interviews(govt) then we can compare it with this action of china.

Buddhism is a philosophy, not a religion. Those who study, practice & give teachings of Buddha r called Lama. If we have kept that simple then it’s not a problem.
But we Tibetans have created Dalai Lama as kind of God in human form, that’s when fall of dynasty happened. His advisors and relatives came to power n they use their power n money not for the betterment of people and country but to protect this image. And they still do in exile, even though it looks like democracy from outside.
