twin screw. that's easy. try single no bow thruster. grew up on a 44 trawler single screw. dad would have me steer while he handled lines. people would panic when seeing an 8year old driving. but quickly had respect for my skill.
He muted squat. He edited commentary from the bathroom at home. There was no wind. Look st waters surface and the little flag next to docking vessels starboard side. Wheres the engine noise. Did he "mute" that?
I’m confused, did he mean tap the starboard engine in reverse and the port in forward to straighten it out? Great job tho, trying to learn to do this myself
I agree bad docking. Should have came in at an angle. Your bow came past the dock. Btw. I believe you called port and starboard wrong in the video you put the port in forward
Lol, Jesse F aka captain UA-cam over here wants to talk trash about your captain skills. When he has to park his hotdog in his BF’s hallway, he makes your parking job look like your a complete rookie. Next time it’s windy and you need a professional to show you how it’s done, give the hotdog handler Jesse F a call. He can fly out and attempt to park your multi million dollar yacht. Lol.
@@YourSaltwaterGuide I have a 75 footer 20 ft wide and you make me look like a beginner . Hell of a job!!! But I just own it I don’t drive much. Plus I have lots of room and you had hardly any! Just more impressive! Lots of people reading this do not realize that what you do so effortlessly is really hard especially where you had to park!
Now try it with a 55' flat bottom houseboat , in a full blown tornado that caught you 50' before you get to your parking slip in the marina 🤣 TVs, refrigerator, kids, dogs,BBQ grill, all flying around inside boat as we went for a fun ride, right thru the middle of marina spinning like a leaf. Spun past the fuel pumps, straight into the private yatch section $$$ Did I mention the motor stalled? Thankfully hit section with smaller yatchs not sticking out beyond end of their slips. 👍
Can’t tell if it’s the camera angle or not but that slip looks pretty big. But then again, I’m used to docking inside a sheltered slip. Most of our boats only have about 5-12inches of clearance on either side once the fenders are down. But docking into a covered slip has very different dynamics compared to docking outside
You said, Starboard fwd, Port astern. That would have bought your bow to port. But definitely looked like you got that mixed up on the commentary and starboard main astern, port main fwd, by the wash coming from port side of vessel and the stern moving to port. By going fwd stbd and astern port, your stern would have moved stbd and put you more to the middle of the berth, not swinging you round so you line up square
wow buddy, first congrats to you for learning to drive a boat, but really. 23 years in the Coast Guard, I can tell you a twin engine inboard with counter rotating props is so much easier then a small boat with twin outboards. if you understand side force, pitch, slip, pivit point and even cavitation you can make a boat like that dance. yes a little wind on the bow can be tricky, but use slight rudder to compensate. bow truster? we don't need no sticking bow truster.. do that with a single prop boat and I'll be impressed. sorry really not trying to put you down just it's not that hard.
Think you got your port and starboard reversed there Cap. Port is always port and starboard is always starboard, it doesn't change because you are looking backwards.
What in the world did we do before Thrusters. I use to have to bring single screw in like that. You really had to use prop walk and full. So doing this with no thrusters should be done exactly and you have do it! Good job.
Idk why it doesnt have thrusters, thats pretty standard even on smaller cruisers. Its still not that hard if you have twin engines. Put one in reverse and one in forward

HAHA
For as broad as that statement is. It couldnt be more true.
99% of the time.
Yes it doesn't matter what kind of stressful situation you're in, as soon as you panic it's like letting go of a steering wheel.
I've heard that said before "the main thing is not to panic." Now that I'm older I have learned how important it is.
You know you are on a good dock when everyone stops what they are doing and stands by to catch a dock line.
