    I had a Zero SR/S myself for a year and a half and was able to ride up to 150 miles in the summer.
    The Zero touring windshield and restriction to a maximum of 50 mph helped.
    It is important to start riding immediately after charging (i.e. when the battery is warm). That definitely gives you a bit more range.
    With the new battery (17.4 Kw/h), you can certainly go up to 185 miles.
    I have now traded in my Zero SR/S for a Zero DSR-X!
    I hope to be able to take off in April 😀🏍

    I want to thank Your this video, which includes valuable information that You really need as a daily driver. This is a big difference to the more speed/torque/... focused other channels.
    I just bought mine yesterday and will add some of You considerations.
    Thanks again and happy riding

    Concerning the Energica oil change mentioned in the video, I'm sharing this note from Energica owner Morgan Vetter: "Worth noting that with Energica's new EMCE motor and inverter, the oil change shown in Sam's video is drastically different. First, most of the cooling for the motor and inverter has been merged into a shared pool which is a water/glycol mixture recommended to be changed every 26,000 miles.
    The ATF oil bath shown in Sam's video has been reduced to a tiny amount that interacts with the gear reduction, and I think they recommend changing that every 18,000 miles. It's also a lot easier now since that reservoir is gone and there's less fluid overall."

    • @DanielTheDriver
      @DanielTheDriver Рік тому +1

      You have to remember that you need oil cooling to ride an Energica EGO at 150 mph sustained speed on a German Autobahn! The Zero's only have a sustained speed of 100 mph. Battery and engine get too hot at 125 mph!
      You can't legally test this in California, but we can in Germany! 😊

    You should change the display under warranty, when there is moisture inside the electronics will also damage slowly and you end up buying a new one when warranty is over. Just don't ask for a claim yet, in june the display should be available that has a fix for this issue. A lot of Zero users have this and it's a manufacturer's fault. Ask your dealer to wait for the fixed display and then have it replaced. Have fun with the Zero, nice video!

    Excellent, fair and no nonsense review. I'm looking at a used near/new livewire, as they are available in the $15k range with low miles. Used Zero's are similar. Zero does have great styling, especially around the tank and small trunk (if you don't opt for the extra battery or faster L2 charger). But I like the overall ride of the LW1 and don't like Zero's cypher policy (try to get you to pay more for options that are all already on the bike just need to be "unlocked"). I abhor that business model. Anyway, great review!

    Great video! Perfect for my father-in-law who is expecting delivery of a 2019 SR/F imminently. He’s going the whole hog and having the charge tank fitted to a premium model. Tesco have built a pretty good charging infrastructure at their supermarkets here in the UK. 22kW posts at the larger sites and they’re all free to use.

    Great content. You helped make the decision for me to buy a new SR/F. Sadly it has spent about half its life in the service dealers garages. Charger issues and countless engine codes that cause it to be in limp mode. Only 1000 miles in and it is the least reliable vehicle I have ever owned.

    Nice video, really enjoyed it. Very small nitpick on your comments on the Energica oil change. Those comments from Sam are for older models (which would apply to when you were looking to buy two years ago) but is not entirely reflective of the current models which have a much longer service life and a simpler oil change procedure. But that should take nothing away from your excellent choice and personal experience, your trouble-free bike experience is what the majority experience from buying an electric motorcycle. People looking at buying an electric motorcycle should definitely subscribe and watch all your videos.

      Hi Rick, Those are valid points concerning the oil change. Morgan Vetter also pointed out a few of the differences between the Energica Sam had at the time and the new models when it comes to how fluids are handled. I've copied Morgan's Facebook comments over to this UA-cam comments section for folks to check out. I've also updated the copy for the SR/F review story to make clear that things have changed on the new Energica models in regards to oil changes: evrider.tv/owner-review-zero-sr-f-after-2-years-10k-miles/

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  2 роки тому +1

      Keith, No question EV motorcycles aren't for everyone yet. The charging infrastructure still has some catching up to do. There are no EV motorcycles on the market yet that can realistically go 200 miles on a charge, although range is improving rapidly. However, touring is certainly possible in many parts of the country. I bought the Premium trim SR/F, so it came with the 6kWh charger. The 2020 base model came with a 3kWh charger. Do you recommend the charger upgrade option ? How many minutes safe the the 6.6 kW option? Thanks Steve

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  Рік тому

      Hi Stefan, If you're referring to 3kW on the base models vs. the 6kW on premium editions, absolutely! Zero also has a Rapid Charger option, which ups your charging speed to 12kWh - or a bit more with the Cypher Store unlock. Charging at the fastest OEM approved speeds is no problem as far as the battery is concerned. However, the Rapid Charger is a pricy option and assuming you're here in the U.S., there aren't many L2 chargers that put out that much current yet. However, there is an aftermarket double j-plug adder it that makes it much more useful. The details on it are in this video: evrider.tv/rapid-charger-accessory-provides-dual-j-1772-zero-sr-f-s-charging/

    • @stefanlehmann6723

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  Рік тому +1

      @@stefanlehmann6723 My guess would be yes, but since I live in the U.S., I can't say with certainty. Perhaps someone else from Europe will weigh in or you can check directly with Zero or your dealer. As to battery safety, I wouldn't be at all concerned, however, what I haven't heard yet is whether Zero will extend the charger warranty for those that opt to get the charger upgrade unlock. Again, pure speculation here, but I'm assuming Zero must have been a little worried about whether the chargers could handle 6.6 kWh charging all the time since they didn't offer it originally but have since determined the chargers are robust enough to constantly handle it. Again, just speculation on my part.

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  2 роки тому

      Hi Kent, I'm in Florida so handling in cold weather doesn't really apply to me personally but I would imagine the answer would be "pretty good" given it has Bosch stability control and ABS. Concerning the battery, yes, I have noticed a range drop of maybe ten miles per charge when it gets into the low 50s. Again, I don't know from personal experience, but I would expect even higher range drops in the 40s and below.

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  2 роки тому +1

      When I bought my SR/F, the SR/S wasn't around yet. Personally, I like the look of the SR/F more but the SR/S is more comfortable and aerodynamic. To compensate I added handlebar risers, a windshield and the SR/S 's lowered foot pegs to my SR/F. If I were choosing between the SR/F & SR/S today, I'd probably go with the SR/S since it's more of a touring bike without any modifications.

    Looking at these Zero's. Really feel like a 300-400lbs bike is way more fun. Do you feel like these bike bikes feel as heavy as they are? I think my last bike was a 400LBS 600cc sport bike. I have ridden much heavier harleys on rent. Some good deals to be had on 2021 SR/S's and 2022 SR models.

    • @EVRider
      @EVRider  2 роки тому

      Actually, the (relatively) light weight was one of the things that drew me to the SR/F over other equivalent EV models. Given the SR/F's weight is down low, I'm guessing it will feel similar to your 600cc sport bike in terms of "lightness."
