  • We have 3 types of French conjunctions. The coordinating conjunctions (mais ou et donc or ni car), the subordinating conjunctions (comme, quand, si, puisque, etc.), and the other conjunctions made out of more than one work and usually including que (vu que, depuis que, pendant que, de peur are, etc.). We use conjunctions to link words, sentences, or clauses.

    before this course I didn't know much about French grammar, and I did not really know or understand why French sentences were the way they are, but after finishing this course I can say I have learned a lot and I now can for the most part, understand reading way better than before the course. Right now, my reading is still better than my listening but I'm working on it! Merci beacoup!

    The grammar course has helped me a lot personally! And for example solved the mysteries about when to use bon and bien and when to use the pronouns y and en.
    Thank you a lot for making this course and also for being very responsive to everyones questions :-)

    Puisque tu m'as posée la question, il faut dire que j'ai beaucoup amélioré la grammaire après avoir complété le cours de grammaire ainsi que la conjugation. Actuellement je suis capable de parler spontanément sur plusieurs sujets. En fait, selon le test de placement en ligne, mon niveau de français est B2. Je suis tellement étonné de mon progrès, donc c'est la raison pour lequel j'ai beaucoup de respect envers toi et ton travail. Enfin j'ai hâte de commencer le cours de vocabulaire.

    Thanks Dylane, just one quick question: So “car” and “parce que” are the same? When do we use “car” and when do we use “parce que”. Is “car” more used in conversations? Thanks......

    Bonjour, Dylane! I have a question about the example that you’re using: “Je serai prête quand tu arrives”. In your conjugation book you wrote that “a subordinate clause following a conjunction of time is always conjugated in the futur simple”, so I’m wondering why “arriver” is conjugated in the present tense in this example and whether “quand tu arrives” is a subordinate clause or not? In the grammar book there is an exercise about this subject that I’m struggling to understand for the same reason: 3.17 point 10: “Il sera tard quand on arrive” and point 6: “Mon ami promènera le chien quand nous sommes partis”. (Why not “on arrivera” and “nous serons”?) Maybe you could do a video about clauses, because I’m clearly misunderstanding something 😄 Thank you for a great course, it’s been so useful!

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  2 роки тому

      You are right, when making reference to the future, it should be conjugated in the future. Look at the 2 different examples:
      Je me lève dès que mon réveil sonne. (general idea happening regularly)
      On partira dès que tu arrives. (Something happening in the future)
      I am going to have a look at those exercises. Thank you so much for spotting this, I will change them if needed :)

    These are great. I have bought the book via Amazon. AT 5:55. I expected subjunctive after quoique and not a future. I should buy your book on Subjunctive too.

      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane my initial thoughts were I expected more of a reference grammar than grammar book with exercises. With the new challenge, I am now more motivated to use it to brush up on things like tout the adverb etc as well
