  • The French indefinite pronouns (les pronoms indéfinis) replace a group of words made of an indefinite adjective and a noun. They are: un autre une autre - d'autres - certains certaines - chacun chacune - plusieurs - quelque chose - quelqu'un - quelques-uns quelques-unes - quiconque - personne - tout - tous toutes - un une (l'un l'une).

I am so grateful that you put those seemingly scary grammar terms (pronoun, noun, adjective, etc.) in your teaching. I've been confused by many common French words for so long as I was never sure how to use them correctly. But as soon as I saw you put those words neatly into their corresponding categories, everything became clear right away and I am more confident in using them now. It seems most teachers try to avoid grammar terms as perhaps they don't want to scare people off, but that's exactly why the usages of those words were never clear to me until now. You are the best! Merci beaucoup!

From my experience, it really depends on the person actually, some get almost scared if you use proper terms :D But I am glad that my lessons helped you to unlock a new level of French! Keep going 🤩

Also liked the "quelque chose me dit que" as a type of preminition (I don't think that ...), have seen many times "quelqu'un(e) m'a dit que" (like the song) or even "on m'a dit que" as a translation of "I was told" and overcoming the problem where the subject is not doing the action/verb and not reverting to tricky constructs like se faire/se laisser etc

Incroyable lecon, Dylane. Tres succinct. Is succinct also a French word? Phonetically, it sounds like it might be.

Merci beaucoup! I have two quick questions, in the examples, why is it Je vais 'EN' prendre un autre? and later, why is it Personne ne connaît (without pas), another great video thank you!

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
      @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane  2 роки тому +1

EN prendre is more of an expression, that only works for prendre.
Pas isn't necessary because we have personne already. "Personne ne" = nobody at the beginning of the sentence. If in the middle of the sentence: "Je n'ai vu personne" = I saw nobody.
      I hope it helps 😉

Dylan, ma belle prof, dit-moi...do I really have to buy few books of these grammar lessons which I have been religiously learning with you??
Aren't they all encompassing?? Or, there is more for us to learn?
    Please guide me! 🙏

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane but aren't these lessons so comprehensive??
Am I missing much more which is only available in books??
Thing is I don't want to pressurize myself, means overburden myself with books rather want to have most fun with learning language.

I would have tried to insert 'pas' after connaît: Personne ne connaît pas la réponse? Why would that not work? THANKS!

So weird, Personne means NOBODY, if I add an article then Le Personne becomes somebody or because the sentence is in negative form?.
The more I learn French, the more I get confused, par example: "I miss you", French would say "Tu me manques" instead of "Je te manque", why?.

    • @TheperfectfrenchwithDylane

Yes, I would like a little bit more work with Tout and tous etc. ie. if tous means everyone, why bother with tout le monde? I'm still a bit muddled anyway...
