Jeremy has box for five days, learns it, and makes a whole EP's worth of music on it.
...as is tradition. I still go back and listen to his model:cycles jam on the regular.
I know... my thoughts exactly. I have it for a couple of weeks and look - a few patterns! Five days in Jeremy's hand and there is a 20+ minute set.
Yeah it's fucked up lol
@@e-conrecords4665 true that is why I like to focus on Elektron boxes makes life easier. Roland and Korg synths have terrible workflow in comparison. Modular is even trickier and makes me appreciate my Elektrons.
I picked up a Syntakt last month on a whim and immediately clicked with it and the whole Elektron workflow. I soon after grabbed a Digitakt to pair with it and they complement each other so nicely. My partner and I now spend most nights making weirdo beats together with one of us on the Syntakt and the other on the Digitakt. Thanks for the video, this is a great set!
I’m gonna follow u and look for a video at some point!
same here well my first experience was on the Elektron Machinedrum and that had an even clunkier interface than new Elektrons today,
You can exclude trigs from the „control all“ by parameter locking them. E.g. you can lock the filter cutoff on all of your kick drum trigs, then you can happily tweak the cutoff via „control all“ and your kicks will stay as they are. It’s a bit tedious, but better than nothing.
This is absolutely incredible. Possibly the best music I've heard from the Syntakt. You even managed to make the metallic hihat machine sound good wtf
God it's a challenge with that one. I hate that engine.
@@RedMeansRecording I hope Elektron is listening. Everyone is complaining about it.
Glad they finally sent this to you. The box is impressive, but I’m more impressed with your skill in using it (and seemingly every other musical device sent your way). Fantastic job!
i love the transitions! they happen very smoothly and those songs were very groovy
Like everybody else in the comments I too am stunned that you could come up with an amazing set in 5 days. Could you do a video to show us how you prepped to make such a seamless set?
Thank you for the great content as always!
I can do that yeah!
Bless you - came here looking for a review but your creations knocked the functionality out of the park. Awesome 👏
Listening to the full set, its insane you manage to put it all together in 5 days. Really made me appreciate Syntakts power. One day! For now I will focus on the Digitakt :D
Ive had my syntakt about a week, never thought of using the “save pattern” / “reload pattern” functions as a performance tool before! Awesome idea
I love this, you can always conjure such good sounds on any machine
I literally submitted a feature request for the DT two months ago begging for a Ctrl-Some feature, where you could option which tracks are affected by the ctrl-all. Glad to hear a larger community voice expressing the need!! It's not just a Syntakt issue, it's a frustration across all of the boxes that have ctrl-all functionality. Optioning which tracks are affected on a pattern-by-pattern basis would enable you to be much more free with your use of the feature without completely destroying the underlying groove, it's a no brainer.
amazing! proper vibe, such a nice clean sound and proper groove.. awesome
Hi Jeremy, maybe the 10th track is the "best" one to transform as a "real" track to release and mix properly as I feel it more deep, powerful and special than the others. And I think I would buy it on your BandCamp. Congratz as usual! ❤
Your demo is a cut above as usual! This box is definitely a future classic, looking forward to see what other gear you pair it with.
That transition/drop at 4:35 is epic!
The versatility of these little box's is insane!
Track 10 is absolutely brilliant, love it!
Jeremy this was a great set. Great job man!! But who else misses the little comments and funny captions that he used to do on his OP1 videos. :) We love you man...
incredible, love the sounds you get out of sy toy!
Just picked up my first Elektron box, a Model:Cycles and have absolutely loved it. I think this has answered which Elektron box is next for me. Thank you for this performance!
This would basically make the Cycles obsolete as it has improved versions of all the included machines. Maybe swap the Cycles for a Samples and you’d have quite a decent Elektron setup.
Yess finally they gave you one! Awesome set, glad you're enjoying it, zoop
Oooohhhh when that dark melody came in at 6:18 🔥
I concur with you, this great music coming out of a single box performing in real time is as good a review as a function overview could be. Now, that doesn't mean that us mere mortals could make music come out of this box so effortlessly, but the box is drool Worthy nonetheless. Thanks for the great set. Can't wait to hear what you'll do with this as part of your modular rig.
Jeremy, awesome job on the Syntakt!
Ooooh Jeremy, there is a lot of good techno in there. Kudos.
Glad to see you whipping out some more Elektron gear. They've been doing great things again lately
Awesome jam straight from the box, that's nuts
Amazing performance, specially we only get to see this box only, not making it overly complicated with other 3 elektron boxes. amazing tracks
Those transitions man.... Great stuff
Thanks for the inspiring set. I've really been mistreating my Syntakt with too many basic drum patterns. 🙂
jeremy, this is sick! I think this has finally convinced to prioritize purchasing a syntakt over a modular system or any software... time to start saving
you know, I have been checking UA-cam daily since Syntakt was released to listen to this right here. The music machine gods have answered my needs!
Not only a great long-form demo of the Syntakt, but also just a very, very enjoyable set of music. Putting that together in five days after getting the box? Inspirational. My main OTB setup is all about the DT/DN/ST trio, and it’s like an embarrassment of riches, considering what each box can generate on its own. Your Syntakt-only set here really underscores for me why I added it to my setup and why the ST has become the main starter/hub for new music, where I’m using the DT more and more for just obvious sample work and the DN for more poly/FM centric parts.
Fr I enjoy this videos so much, awesome as always Jeremy
Holy hell! This is such an impressive set!
loving track 3 the most, great stuff
My god that last track is incredible.
Awesome. Grooved my day.
that first jam is so awesome
Amazing performance on what is perhaps elektron's most inspiring piece of gear
This seems like a good one. The music was definetely cool. I tend to find this type of instrument - grooveboxes - to be inevitably frustrating in one way or another, but so far I see no fault there.
Gawd daaaym! Impressive stuff! Congrats!
Great set. But I also had to laugh at the subtle “how many times do I have to say quick asking” positioning of the two oscilloscopes! “Figure it out already.” Lol!
After watching this and MrDataline .. and just ordered a 2nd hand Syntakt. So excited. Amazing demo/tracks!
Last track is a belter! I'd love to play that in a set. But they're all good tbh
Great stuff, thanks! Really enjoyed the set.
I love the Syntakt, it makes such nice sounds!
So good! I honestly don’t understand the hate people level at the ST for not having sample functionality when you listen to what you can conjure on this thing. Great overview ❤
I love my Syntakt. It’s the best of the elektron boxes for sure
Particularly loved track 10 👍
Amazing beats!
awesome set!
Woof! Definitely copying that ctrl all delay thingy comb filtery sounding thing at 4:40
Great set! Also totally agree on the ctrl some feature .
What are you thoughts on the chord machine? Any tips to make it easier to create chords? I wish I could just press a bunch of notes in keyboard mode and the machine figures out the chord/inversion values.
So do I
Midway through saving money for this bad boy absolutley can not wait. Amazing job as always Jeremy from Red Means Recording, you are an inspiration and source of toxic envy to us all
Might have to pick one up to go with my Digitakt after all... Just wicked! I'm a track 6 & 10 kinda guy myself... 🔥
Without even watching. Just listening to your video (honestly thats how I consume most of your videos). I can without a doubt declare. Best Syntakt Review out here.
I also totally want a 'control some' feature! Would be very useful
Also this music slaps most thoroughly
Seconded
Whats that tiny blue box on the right with the wave readouts? so tiny and fun I'd love to buy one!
I’ve been struggling for a while on which box to get. Between the digitone, this Syntakt or another. But I do love that this one can sort of “do it all” and do drums well. Is it the best one for drums? I mainly want a drum variant. As I own like 6 analog synths and create my music in the DAW so I don’t need to “do it all in the Syntakt”. That being said though… would one be able to do intricate beats , tonals and percussives with this solely if that’s the focus? I love the sounds of the rhythms, percussions and drums :)
WOW! Thats a great set.
Sick performance, awesome machine
i too would like to know what that blue oscilloscope thingy is on the right
Thank you, the last track is fucking dope.
What's the blue sound wave bar? Looks fun.
cool touch with those oscilloscopes how did you set that up? where do the outputs of the ST go?
They go into my audio interface and then I use the headphone outs to send to the Scopes
Just me, or did you pick up a Syntakt trick or two from Ivar Tryti? Love the energy flow through the tracks. Masterfully done.
Of all the elektron boxes which one would be the best pairing for the deluge?
Woo! Jeremy... bro... best Syntakt video on YT rn. Thanks always for a fuckton of amazing content sir.
Not requesting a keystep/syntakt video with some cool-ass mod destinations wheel/pb/velocity/aftertouch etc. (not requesting at all)
Part 5 is killing me every single time. You´re f*cking insane.
I know it's not a full review, but I was wondering if you ever found a use for the Modifiers? I feel like there's some potential there but they way they work seem to hinder that. The best use I've found is to tap in closed/open hats without having to trig lock each one manually.
Yeah I haven't yet
Cool sounds. Happy sounds, which I kind of need right now. If there was a rave on Sesame Street, it would sound like this.
Is this machine going to have a bunch sound packs available to add on like the other two digis?
They're all top notch, but track 6 and 10 speak to me and are now stuck in my head.
amazing performance 👀👏👏👌
Ja there a way to use the fx ducking Effekt for a pair of tracks AND the Analog Drive for all Tracks?
You should go on tour with just the syntakt
so good
Hey Jeremy, the Blue Oszilloskope Box is nice! Where can i find it ?
I draw. But I'd assume, that if you're a musician, and you're watching this, what better review could there be, than to just show off how fucking BALLER you can make music in real time. Do we really need to talk?
Chef's kiss, every time Jeremy
I’ve taken your how not to buy a synth video to heart and sold a lot of my gear that gets little use to buy one piece of gear. I like the groovebox idea as you can do a lot with a little. I’ve whittled things down to the Syntakt and the Deluge. I’d really appreciate your opinion. The deluge seems more flexible but to my (damaged) ears the Syntakt sounds better, more punchy and direct.
Get a Syntakt. It's ace and I think more immediate and fun than the Deluge.
What is that oscilloscope on the right opposite of the Korg?
lol
@@rich_in_paradise that's not an answer!
I'm new here... what's the little blue waveform display box on the right?
What is the blue box on the right hand side? It's looks like a headphone interface but is displaying a waveform
I also want to know what this is
@@vivian-iq3np thanks 😊
@@tonyn2283 Hello, what was the answer? The reply is deleted :D
what is that blue tool on the right?
What’s up! I know this video has been here for a minute but if I’ve never owned an elektron device before would you say there is a steep curve here? Like maybe entering with a Cycles would be less overwhelm? I have some minimal experience with grooveboxes but definitely a guitarist by trade so…
how does this compare to the Analog rytm? im looking for a partner to the deluge. any reccomendations?
Nice
Very good, Boy💪
Track 7 is my jam.
how do you recommend one goes about setting up gigs and actually playing live in front of people. I'm prolly not there yet, but I want to work my way toward it, rather than just making tunes that go nowhere in my basement
Write with the intention of performance
Rock Star Bad Ass!! All I can say, is when and where is the next concert!!!
Wow…this is sick!
Going to do my second full set with just SYNTAKT coming up - awesome box and a centrepiece for us lately.
I’ve listened to this so many times, a shame I can only like the video one time!
Music is
Although this is a wonderful jam and really shows your strengths as a musician and performer (really!), I can't help but feel like it still sounds so much like a Syntakt. I'd love to hear this kind of jam on the Digitone and Digitakt duo and I bet it would sound much better. Again, not at all a criticism against you as an artist - on the contrary, this is criticism against the sound of the Syntakt which reminds me of a higher fidelity Sega Megadrive.
What's the blue visualiser plugged in of the right there? I'm struggling to find any answers online!
what is that nice blue oscilloscope on the right?
