Decided to press my luck seeing Jason on my feed and searched your channel only to see a new video drop. Yay!!! Double feature picture show!
double bubble troll and trouble ... lol not sure what that was
Good to see a video today from you my dude
Appreciate it ... got to give a little even tho im away lol
I really enjoy your videos! 😊
I'm so glad! 🙂
I’m loving some of the stuff TTArtisan is pushing out to us at reasonable prices. While not exactly film related, I did recently get TTArtisans 10mm f2.0 for my Fuji and it has not disappointed ❤. Love the video dude!
Oh that’s good to know. And thanks :)
Sweet video man enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed :)
Love the review!
So glad!🙂
What a great way to start my day
awwww thanks yo :)
glad you liked the video
Nice video! also what film was the shots after the commercial break shot on? the warm tone is really nice.
Color plus
50mm in general is growing on me. I got a Canon f1 recently and it had a 50 on it and then I got a 28mm and shocked myself when I preferred the 50mm images. Nice video per usual sir!
I know ... I go back and forth tooo
and thanks :)
I picked up the Light Lens Lab elcan and I'm really happy with it as my m mount 50. It's "only" f/2 but it's such a perfect size
ive always been wanting to try those!
@@BadFlashes if you're ever up in the bay area and want to try it out lol
The crocks are a vibe my friend. Great video!
Hahahahaha film crocks for the win!
hey caleb! love your videos and your photos! made my buy my leica 6 haha, I was curious though, what the app is you mention at 6:55, it looks awesome and I'd love to use it for my sunsets! all the bet man!
Oh that’s awesome! It’s great, Camera. The app is called Skylight.
That lens looks really good! Not just on the outside, but the image quality too. I bet it could be fun to shoot in the dark at 1.4. Get some bokeh balls shining behind your subjects and such. Isn’t it cool that there are companies making affordable AND good lenses now days? I have the Mitakon 65mm 1.4 for GFX and it’s kind of amazing. Viltrox also makes some incredible lenses for “low compared to Leica/Zeiss” prices (though only for digital).
Totally. It’s good we have cheaper alternatives:)
I forgot that I already have this lens thx for reminding me
Hahahaha sick
And then he said it was about tree fiddy and just about then I noticed Caleb Knueven looking a bit like a Crustecean from the Plezeozoic Era, the GD lochness monsta!
🦞
I got one of these as my first "fast" 50, was a good buy. It doesn't get too much use anymore, not the greatest travel lens. But build really well, good bang for ya buck for the speed.
Oh bummer I’m sorry I didn’t go well
8:52 wall-e in real life ❤❤❤❤😍😍🥰🥰
I’ve just bought this used for my M5 and at a 10th of the price of a used summilux. Very happy with it.
Nice 👍 Im there for it
I did the same for my new to me M3. Very nice, very affordable.
I repair cameras as a hobby (changed jobs so now its only a hobby) and it is an amazing feature you can calibrate your lens. Let me explain. I recently calibrated a leica m4 rangefinder for a nokton 35 1.4 ii (brand new lens) and tested soon after that an ulron 28 (brand new also) to see that the minimum focus movement is wildly different so if you calibrate the camera to perfectly focus on nokton then the ultron is off when close focusing vice versa. both not cheap lenses to have this issue. Leica lenses dont have such issues in my experience but the fact that you can calibrate the lens simply means you wont waste photos because of the lens, something I wish voigtlander had implemented on their lenses. Before anyone comments whether it is because of focus shift on nokton etc, no it is simply because of manufacturing (nokton is same with summicron in this case and the ultron is off)
Damn. That’s crazy. Had no idea
Thanks for the comment 🤘🏼🙌🏼
what brand do you use for M39 to M with the Canon lens, no problem for the focus ?
thanks and good video
There shouldn’t be any focus issues with Camera since you’re seeing straight through the lens. And I just use some generic adapter not quite sure.
I use this lens on my Leica M2 and M-E (M9) and find its outstanding for the price.
I also jave the 21mm f/1.5 and that is remarkable! - i got both for a cool $600
seee savings.... that is great
I really wish TTartisan made Pentax K mount lenses, this is pretty much what I have been looking for to put on my P30.
I guess I could potentially get it in Sony E mount and then adapt it, but I want to avoid adapters
Is the Pentax k the digital version?
@@BadFlashes It's both, they haven't changed the mount dimensions since 1975 when it was introduced. They have just added electrical contacts to the modern lenses to allow for autofocus and aperture control, but vintage K mount lenses still work natively on modern cameras.
Oh damn. That’s cra cra
honestly, not a big fan of all that pin cushion distortion. thats fine on a digital camera, but you cant get that out in the darkroom. also, jesus christ that thing is soft in colour. odd that you praised its sharpness on that door photo, when it loses all contrast that the canon had for a marginal gain in center sharpness. i can buy a used Voigtländer 50mm 1.2 Nokton or a 40mm 1.4 for 70€ less than the TTartisans, and as opposed to the TTartisans i can resell it if i dont like it anymore
pin cushion ... maybe. But I don't know where you are getting Voig lenses for 70 ... because hook me up.
@@BadFlashes not for 70, for 70 less than the TTartisans 50 1.4, there are always a few in really good condition on ebay for around 300, if youre willing to make some concessions in terms of fogging or cleaning marks (and theyre probably still going to outperform the TTart lens, at least with a good hood) theyre even less.
I have this lens and I use it at concerts in dark clubs all the time. I've never had distortion problems with it. But, it does flare like crazy, and I had to calibrate it on a digital Leica. It was way off when I bought it used and unusable at 1.4 without calibration.
Oh, that’s good to know that you needed to calibrate it! And also bummer sorry about that!
I gotta say that Canon is a banger though. Especially for the price. I have the f1.4 version and just adore it. Those old coatings give you some beautiful color and all these old Canon LTM lenses have just the right amount of character to not be obnoxious or practical. Also if you love flares these lenses just slap.
They do indeed:)
Stop Caleb, that grain is f'ing sick. Anyways, did you have to calibrate the lens before shooting? I bought a number of TTA's for my Voigtlander's and M6 and I almost ALWAYS had to calibrate.
Unexposed is the way to go! Hahahaha
And no, I didn’t have to calibrate this one fortunately … but others I’ve had to
HE SAID IT! HE SAID THE NAME OF HIS CHANNEL!
😅😆
Which app is Big K using to predict sunset quality? He said "skylight" but I didn't find anything that looks right. Anyone know?
Big K lol ... love ... it's like im taking over the K mart brand .... also that is weird you can't find it. The App is titled "SkyLight" yellowish red icon
@JerryNovak might just be on ios think photopills does the same kind of thing
I may be able to source you some Leica glass if you learn how to use the DOF preview button ;)
that can be arranged
@@BadFlashes I'm just kidding. I'm a film photographer xD do you think I have that kind of money?
Shit ……. I was hoping 😝
@@BadFlashes I wish I could help you, bud. But it's all love, bro! You and Jason's collections are camera GOALS.
Nice vid, but the lens is a tad to large for my taste, I’ll stick to my 50 summicron
Yeah. I get that. 😝
One day I'll teach y'all how to hold cameras with "front heavy lenses" :)
Why not now???????
@@BadFlashes Hint: Hold your camera in your left palm from underneath, with your thumb and front fingers around the lens. Don't try to hold it with your right hand. The bigger the lens, the more you will hold it and not the camera.
Got it: no vandalism.
Well try not too at least 😝
I like these "cheap" Chinese lenses. Got the 7Artisans 50mm f1.05. For such a small thing its massive and heavy and produces nice images. Not bad for a $500 lens that I bought used in new condition for $200.
Can’t beat that
The Hefty Nifty 50.
Shit … thats good
Noctilux or nothing! :P
Hahahaha or BUST
❤🧀
AWWWW you are the best! 🥰
a lens that is actually affordable and doesnt cost a house down payment
I mean like ….. right 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
1:17 Speaking about bad habits, why can't TTArtisan come up with typography on their lenses that isn't a blatant copy of Leica. It's cheesy and somewhat pathetic.
Haha
Please dial back the Leica content, its getting tiring seeing people justify such an underwhelming and lackluster hype machine with "quality" and "heritage" despite being too lazy to give it so much as a half assed light meter or a better shutter. Its just lazy content.
jealous
So .. besides the last two videos it had been 8 months since I last did a video that really focused on the Leica. Thanks for you lazy opinion
@spud4598 :) I you called it
How about you just skip the "lazy content"?
Any time I hear the words "shooting my" and its followed by "Leica" instant cringe. Bro, all you gotta say is camera. It’s a camera, just say camera. Absolutely zero reason to drop Leica in as many times as you do. Love your stuff, man keep on grindin!
Womp Womp
didn't even realize I was doin it
I get the same cringe feeling in the pit of my stomach every time someone choosing to spend their time watching photography videos complains about Leica. Imagine that.
@@BadFlashes You're reviewing a lens made specifically for the Leica M-mount. You'd be silly not to mention it.
Dumbest take… he has many cameras… is he not allowed to specify the one he is using?
