I love the colour reproduction of this film. A slightly desaturated palette, verging on pastel is absolutely beautiful and film like. I think we leave the over saturated, over vibrant stuff to digital reproduction.
I watched a guy shoot this and develop it E-6 and it did look like old slide film, it was attic darkroom. I can't tell if your edits are making the blue desaturated, but if those few shots with the blue cast were pre edit, it kind of reminds me of old Fuji print film. I always used Fuji when I wanted bluer skies and a cooler cast. This was back before photoshop. All of your edits seem a little overly warm to me, with some of the skies not really appearing very blue. It seemed like you were going for that, as it was different than even your video. Also, Freestyle has it.
Shooting those film stocks under the harshest light in North America with a post apocalyptic landscape might not have been the best way to assess them.
I can vibe with a blue cast. I know people hate Ektachrome (and probably this film) cause it throws a lot of blue into the frame, but I think it just adds to those blues you get in shadows on a sunny day. Helps the greens too. Needless to say, hearing the words "blue cast" has gotten me interested. Good video!
caleb, i think the blue "cast" you get when inverting with nlp is due to the film's clear base, which the plugin is not used to (as opposed to the orange base normal film has).
Because I’ve seen so many images I really love on this stock I’ve been slowly stockpiling a few rolls of 50, 100 & 160 in both 35 & 120, but because I’m an f-ing newbie hack (Only 6 months in) I’ve only shot a few rolls of 100 so far. I have to say as far as keepers, those are the best two rolls I’ve ever shot and hardly touched the scans. It’s only two rolls though so still time to be disappointed 😉
The fact that the film base is almost transparent would mean that the inversion would be real easy right? Balancing of the border and then switching the tone curve should produce the true color of the film
Freaks & Geeks! Ahhh, why'd you have to go and tear the scab off of that wound?! Gone too soon, lol! Love the 120 shots that hit, man. I'm with you on the 35mm lacking the smooth sharpness we've come to expect from premium low-ISO stocks. The grain is just very harsh, and I don't think it's sharpness, per se. I do have to say, though, your portrait of Jason at 14:57 is absolutely beautiful; I actually paused to admire it twice. I like your reflection in his glasses, but I can't tell if you're shooting the M6 or the Pentax? Keep up the great work, man. You are making some absolutely killer content.
I saw a video on attic darkroom that they developed it in e6 and it developed as slides at box speed too! i really wanna try this film BAD its so cool.
I saw that the other day tooo and I was like OMG that E6 stuff was awesome... wish I would have though of doing that.... I guess I DO have to try again ahahaha
I've tried these in 120 format, not the 50, I really liked them and found the colors to be truer to life than Kodak Portra and they required little editing. While I don't know specifics of who is behind this, actually, I didn't even know they had a indiegogo, I think Silberra should be supported as they are one more manufacturer keeping film alive. What were the indiegogo perks btw? As for those mystery bad shots, I've had that on Portra, 400H, and recently on Cinestill. I don't understand those results at all. As far as price and mystery, I mean they are "boutique" manufacturer and I think a lot might be lost in translation being a Russian company.
This was really weird for me to watch because I was just taking pictures at the Salton Sea in some of these exact locations literally 10 days ago. Like I'm looking at that half-buried boat @16:37 and I know exactly where that half-buried boat is.
Ive been considering getting some of this film. Now, I must watch and see..... The 160 looks good, I like it! Like, a lot. Oh blueish is correct. Some nice graffiti out there, nice! That shot through the broke glass reminds me of the time when I was a young buck back in 1996, I shattered the front of our stove door that was glass with a fork. Looked like that one in the photo. RIP. Love the Color 100! Umm what is blurred out? That chevy bread truck at the drive in is litterly goals. I don't know why but I love those things! Ive never understood this place, salvation mountain it is. Probably because I have no idea what it is or why it's there or how it became what it is. Google time I suppose. Hows it feel to be out of your closet now that you've done a few videos in the new location? Okay, back to the video. No tank 7. wow. smh. Loved Dune and love these dune shots. Peep that LOKI visualization crew shirt. See you on the third floor Jason...when I find a time machine. Wow that price is steep...nevermind. Also, just noticed you changed the photo/print that is on the wall. RIP to he lady in the chair. See ya in the next one!
Yeah bro steeeeep for sure!!! But I’m glad you liked the video :) also yeah google that place cuz it’s cra cra for sho… she’ll like the whole place that is haha
I am the same effect with this film 3 shots in a raw, and one that turned out completely diffrent. But I really love the whole range of the color film. This film is angry for blue sky!
I did shoot Color 100, 160 and Pan 50, but I messed up scanning (and likely developing) them and might have to rescan. The negs might still suck. The Pan 50 is the truth tho.
If the film was (1) reliably available, and (2) cost less than $6.00 a roll in 35mm or 120, there might be some interest. However, (1) it looks like it's end runs from who know where from 2019 or earlier, with no indication that it will be on the market after however much is in the retail pipeline runs out, and (2) whoever is wholesaling this stuff is recycling packaging and probably have less than $1.00 invested in each roll. He says these positive images are all significantly color corrected. presumably meaning well beyond what he normally requires. The lack of the C-41 standard orange masking of the film would be consistent with that observation. So, who would make a supposed C-41 film without its orange mask pre-exposed? Beats me. Maybe some experimental crap that was abandoned. Maybe something targeted for E-6 cross-processing. Who knows; who cares.( $12 a roll at Freestyle, any format)
From what we presently know; most evidence suggests their color film products are made by Inoviscoat (formerly Agfa Germany), who also makes color film for polaroid, and color negative materials for Lomography, under the lomochrome marquee. Recently Inoviscoat and Filmotech DE (ORWO), merged to form a new company, which means the two remaining fragments of AGFA separated by the Cold War have been reunited, and have announced they will be producing color materials particularly color motion picture film, and possibly still films. However at present it is unknown if they will market those under ORWO, AGFA, or some other brand. Silvers b&w materials may be produced by Slaviche in Moscow, or potentially Tasma, both former Soviet film factories with decent reputations.
7:52 Hate to disagree, but these three shots are actually my favorite, colorwise. Obviously, the vignette is overkill, but the colors have some serious chrominess about them, don’t you think?
Definitely doesn't feel worth the money. I was slightly intrigued to give it a try when I heard of it then saw the price. I think I may just have to stick to Black and White for the foreseeable future! Been really disappointed with my color film photos lately even with Portra & Fuji, so this is definitely not for me I don't think.
Yea, but will it stay that way? Sounds like these should be cheaper films not more expensive. Smart marketing to experimental types & alternative style shooters.

about to go hit up freestyle!
Shooting those film stocks under the harshest light in North America with a post apocalyptic landscape might not have been the best way to assess them.
Yeah I can understand that.
The had a first run that was limited. Now they are getting it coated specially for them, and just using up the old cartboard packaging.
Ok some more good info. Love it!
Baxter didn't post a video at the same time? Is his roommate Jason okay?
This is an extra vid for me this month

I love E100 it's amazing ... I but different blue color though in my findings. I'm glad you liked the video!!!! 🥰
This is so cool! Great to know there’s a new color film out there on the market!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
caleb, i think the blue "cast" you get when inverting with nlp is due to the film's clear base, which the plugin is not used to (as opposed to the orange base normal film has).
Yeah that makes sense to me.
You should try cross process it with e6, seen other people did it and it’s cool
Yep. Saw that vid! I agree
The "Blue cast" of the untouched film makes me wonder if it was originally a Tungsten balanced film
You are entertaining to watch. Been taking pictures for 56 years. You make me want to try this film.
Oh wow! Thanks so much!!! That means a lot! I’m so glad I can bring something :)
Maybe you might have to pick up a roll or two. :)
That first building was definitely the inspiration for Trevor's hideout in GTA V 😂

That’s so cool.
I hope you have so much fun with it all and welcome to film :)
The fact that the film base is almost transparent would mean that the inversion would be real easy right? Balancing of the border and then switching the tone curve should produce the true color of the film
If you do it manually. Yeah For sure. But most softwares rely on that Orange base to invert. At least that’s my dumbed down knowledge about it
@@BadFlashes yeah no absolutely that’s why this in may work better without nlp? Idk just a thought 😊
True true!!!!! But then you’re stuck with Silberra Color film 🤣🤣🤣
@@BadFlashes hahahahe yeah..
I'd like to see some 16mm content, maybe do a dark comedy film with Jason, and of course Baxter.
I like dark comedy’s…and I love my 16mm camera. That can happen sometime. :)
Just bought a pentax 67 after watching your video on it. That's makes 8 film cameras that I now own. Enjoying the videos👌
I’m glad you dig the videos. And enjoy that camera!!!!

There was a limited Edition Color100. They are probably reusing the boxes from that production run.
😳😵💫😵 If only I knew the deepest darkest secrets they had
Color film without the orange mask might be film for making motion picture projection prints, except that film should be painfully slow.
Oh yeah I can see that too
I really like this film. I ran some through my C220. Got a lovely gentle feel to it.
