i had the same issues even just starting... finally got the nerve to start making videos and got a good amount of views and subs for a brand new nobody channel then i just started hating WoW and never felt passionate to try again. :(
Always love your content Pint, Genuinely gets a solid laugh from me every time. I probably go back and binge all your videos like every 3-4 months. I know your pain! Keep up the great work friend.
Man this video resonates with me, particularly the last 5 minutes. The community we form on this channel aren't just fans, no good UA-camr sees viewers as some sort of revenue stream, we want to please them even though that sounds horribly unhealthy. Like you said make each video better than the last, but how can you do that if you're met with resistance at every turn? The Algorithm doesn't want you to change your style and the viewers think they want the same thing and often won't give something new a try, even though it's just better. I don't think the algorithm or the viewers reward innovation unless you channel is about innovation. If you make a gaming channel you have to be so delicate with what you post or you'll just fit into the metric of one specific category. Making timeless videos that are of the highest quality is the best you can do. Great video man, I think it's hard to grasp some of it if you're not a creator but it's so relatable.
Your editing is just unreal bro, congratz!! Im happy you made it! Can't wait to see what you hold for the future! I swear to god, I was drinking water when you said "the incident" Now my screen is all wet, thank you very much
This video just changed my life. I have struggled with direction for a year now and Im at a point where I'm just not happy with what I'm doing anymore. I do live commentary but...I'm not fulfilled. There is a creative side of me that isn't being used at all. This was the push I needed to jump into what I want to do (longform, highly edited story driven content). Thanks Pint.
Awesome video! Honestly this is how every other UA-camr I talk too feels as well.. Also glad I'm not the only one who watched Yogscast Minecraft video back in the day lol
Hold on, wait, you are not someone I expected to see a comment from on a Pint video! I swear, this past year I've seen so many UA-camrs from completely different communities interact and it's unreal, and now yet another one of those walls for communities have been broken down, what the absolute fuck
As always, wonderful video Pint. As a small UA-camr, the last chapter definitely resonates with me. It's one of the reasons I also enjoy being a small UA-camr // have a small community. It feels so much more personal and I can remember many of the viewers. The only thing missing from being a UA-camr is the social interaction with my fans on the level that live streaming has.
You only did 4 videos in a year, but the thing is that I still remember them all, I really like how you do your videos. I whatched you for the first time on asmongold's stream and for real I couldn't stop laughing. Keep up the good work man :)
Just wanted to say, I love your long story videos. You always put alot of effort into it and they always get stuck in my head. To the point I have to watch it again. Your videos have high rewatchablity.
I was a small time content creator under a different name once - never had any more than a couple hundred fans, but still, I had some fans. I made stuff for about a year, and had fun with it... but eventually I got to the point where I had to make a choice: Either massively increase how much time and energy I put into my stuff, or be content to start repeating myself with only very minor variations. In the end, I wasn't comfortable with either the idea of putting a ton more work in or just recycling content, so.... that was the end of my very short content creation career. I suspect my fanbase would have actually been pretty okay with rehashed work, at least for a while.... but I wasn't. And in the end, I was only doing it because I enjoyed it. So, yeah. I ended it and am pretty comfortable with that.
I genuinely enjoyed this video and your perspective as well as all the lovely editing with direct correlation to what you're talking about but aren't referenced necessarily in the script. It made it more emotional and I connected with it. Thanks. :)
Got to this late but it was epic. It was a really self-aware and grounded perspective on your unique position that I enjoyed hearing. That combined with your awesome editing made for quite the experience. Inspirational for sure and I like that the video felt just as much for you as it did for everyone else. Saved this one to favourites and will definitely be a conversation piece amongst myself and my friends. P.s. what's the purpose of the internet if we can't use it to live out our deepest desires for sassy transgender gnomic femdom through whacky characters like yours?!
This video hit hard for me, because you're absolutely right. Making content can be really difficult, pushing yourself to do better isn't easy and every creative choice is a gamble. My content has never really picked up steam, but I've continued to refine and change it in the hopes of making a few people smile. Whether you're big on UA-cam or not, any effort is a risk... any attempt to be creative is dangerous... and through it all, you have people constantly shitting on you, or just trying to piggy back your work. Despite being small, I've had that problem. I did a colab a few years ago with a guy who cut contact the second it didn't get him more views. Discerning the real from the fake is a pain in the ass... and when you're bigger, it's that much harder.
Watching Asmonbald say we'll remember Pint's video a year later is ironic because, a year later, the only Asmon content I can remember is him getting ganked, repeatedly, by Advertise.
your 10,000 hours of mage LITERALLY inspired me to pick classic wow back up and wow in general and go play it. I love your content and its really fun to watch.
This was a really eye-opening video for me, thank you for sharing it! It might also have just inspired me to stop being hesitant that my content won’t isn’t amazing right off the bat, and to take that leap into UA-cam/Twitch content creation. Keep doing your awesome work, Pint! I’d follow your content to the ends of the Earth
Pint, You showed me how editing can be used to convey emotion and tell a better story. Other UA-camrs helped you enjoy WoW, well you helped me enjoy being a UA-camr. I love this video and will always respect your courage m8. You dare to be honest in a world that feels faker by the day; wish you nothing but the best and will support you always. -乐乐
I have pretty much the same story with UA-cam and games that you detailed in the beginning. I was so excited to see this video in my box, I've been looking forward to this for a bit! Thanks for the consistent quality, great videos, and hilarious Twitter memes. The Saurfang Fortnite song was hilarious. Sending you lots of love. :)
Raise your hand if your life doesn't revolve around what's on your screen and when Pint (or any single online personality that takes time to edit videos) uploads content for the first time in months your reaction is "Sweet!" not "Y dOnT u UpLoAd MoRe"
I can relate to all of this. It's why my Photography has suffered because I felt like I kept needing to one-up myself after every photo I uploaded. I never saw any traction on the "likes" or "follows" so I've pretty much just stopped uploading. I still shoot for myself, which is fun, but there isn't that dopamine rush when you get a lot of likes. Social Media is a fucking cancer man but it's so central to daily life and discovery these days that everyone feels obligated to be apart of it. Whether that be Facebook, Twitch, Instagram, or UA-cam.
14:20 This is great advice, even when not talking about UA-cam. It's not something that I would say I have never heard before, but it is something that I (specifically) need to hear all the time: When you take a risk there is no guarantee of success, but there is no chance of success unless you are willing to take a risk and when you don't succeed it's not truly a failure unless you completely give up. I struggle with this all the time Pint, and it helps to hear this out loud. P.S. I started doing this recently and it might not mean much to others but it seems important to me: telling which video caused me to subscribe to a channel. This is the one that I subscribed on. I know I know, one subscription isn't a huge deal for a UA-camr, but it's a big deal for me. If I subscribe I see more videos related, and if I don't like a video obviously subscribing isn't a good idea. So this is me saying: "Hey...You're really cool, thanks for being such a swell guy. I look forward to more of your content. Whenever it comes out, no pressure."
This man says he loves Jerma, insta-subbed. No but forreal, I don't even play WoW, nor did I really ever have a desire to do so but I do know my mmos and your story telling alongside your phenomenal editing are so enthralling to watch. You're extremely creative and I can confidently say I'll watch anything you put out, WoW related or otherwise.
The comedic timing and edits of your videos are spot on. This video is also perfect timing for me, because as somebody who works from home, I have quite a lot of free time. I've been seriously considering picking up UA-cam or Twitch, but it seems so daunting. Also the social aspect of it both interests me, and scares the hell out of me. It's cool seeing a video made from this perspective.
I was going to do this on Twitter but your messages are disabled, which is entirely understandable, but I just wanted to say thank you. Life has been very hard for me over the last several years and last night was sorta just an unneeded punch, while im mostly ok now I just wanted to say how grateful I am to your sense of humor and PoV on topics, watching this and "Why I betrayed my WoW guild" help me through the day. Never change who you are for anyone, thank you again and stand tall.
As someone who has been struggling with content creation recently. Wanting to make youtube videos and stream on twitch, I think this is what I needed to hear. I sincerely thank you, Pint. I will look back to this video one day and see this is where it all changed. Thank you
Chapter 3 hits home for me personally. I'm terrified of going up to people and when they come up to me i get suspicious and think they're not being sincere. That shit is a vicious cycle.
Authenticity is the whole reason I stopped watching Jacksepticeye and Markiplier and switched to RTgames and CallMeKevin. The lack of authenticity was wearing on me for the first two when the ones I switched to are more authentic in their characters. It was also the switch from watching youtubers to watching people who stream on twitch and upload a portion to youtube.
Pint you are AWESOME...one of the few content creators that I love watching...please don't ever sell out...make vids you love because those that know will love your videos...tanks for taking the time to make these vids...I know they are not easy...Peace Pint
You and internet historian are 2 of my favorite channels. High effort good quality videos I never feel like it was a waste of time to watch, and I'm always left thinking about it for a couple of days after my watch.
I do follow alot of creators who switched their content focus, and although they lose a portion of views, it usually bounces back. It's great to see a creator pivot from a content driven channel to a personality driven channel, because it'll almost guarantee people will stick around for you. My problem is when a content creator leaves a game, shits on it and it's community when they leave, and expect everyone to be fine with it. I understand that the toxicity of social media will get to someone, but to completely insult the people who enjoyed their content and burn the bridge behind them as they leave is something I just can't stand for. I won't name names, but I instantly lost any interest in their future endeavours when they did that.
Amazing video, you deserve much more. I've been new into creating WoW videos myself and it's meeting failure after failure. Starting today when you are small on youtube is the hardest thing in the world, much harder than it used to be, I wish best of luck to everyone with their channels and hopefully one day I'll get there too.
No matter what you do, I’ll watch. I enjoy the effort you put into your videos, and love how your personality leaks into the video despite it being a serious topic.
i usually have comments turned off with an extension i use in my browser but wanted to comment on this one. for me i subscribe to people for their personality, sure sometimes i like seeing certain games but if the heart is there then that's what i'm mainly there for. you do you and we'll be here to watch and support ya
5:20 reminded me of Internet Historian's Add thyme so much. I love it. :D ❤️ And this video was sooooooo good in so many ways, 10/10 like always Pint! :)
What’s fascinating about Jerma is that it seems like every single person I talk to LOVES his videos and streams, but nobody ever actually acknowledges that he exists without being prompted beforehand. It’s like he exists collectively in our subconscious, as a funny internet clown man.
I just subbed your channel not like a 2 week's ago, and watching through your content I've noticed that you put a lot of love into what you do which is one of the thing's that made me sub. I guess all i can really say is do what makes you happy if it's spamming youtube with highlight reels of minecraft or what your doing now highly edited vid's with lot's of love and care put into them... You make me want more content that's for sure so I can go OH! new pint vid.
I always get excited seeing that Pint uploaded a video. I think you have a great and relatable personality which always makes your videos a pleasure to watch. You have a great sense of humor and on top of that you have interesting thoughts and opinions that I like to listen to and you present them in a way that's really fun to watch. OMG i just discovered this channel and i love it! please keep doing content like this in any game you want, i'll watch it
Sitting in the breakroom at work and 8:37 pops up and now everyone is looking at me weird. Pint, WhyUDooDisToMe...?
Omg that must have been the best XD
Y the f you watch Pint at work dumbo
Dancin' will be remembered because legends never die
Amazing video, you deserve much more. I've been new into creating WoW videos myself and it's meeting failure after failure. Starting today when you are small on youtube is the hardest thing in the world, much harder than it used to be, I wish best of luck to everyone with their channels and hopefully one day I'll get there too.
I've fallen dangerously and deeply in love with your female Gnome character, if this is a mid-life crisis, I'm ok with it.
No matter what you do, I’ll watch. I enjoy the effort you put into your videos, and love how your personality leaks into the video despite it being a serious topic.
"How to get baited into watching another legendary Pint video"
"How to get baited into watching another ad"
This video has it all.
Thank you Pint for opening up.
Btw the fact that when there's Schlatt on the screen and Stal stared playing made my day
You know he watches Technoblade because they both upload once every 3 months, if we're lucky.
True :(
i usually have comments turned off with an extension i use in my browser but wanted to comment on this one. for me i subscribe to people for their personality, sure sometimes i like seeing certain games but if the heart is there then that's what i'm mainly there for. you do you and we'll be here to watch and support ya
Master Asmonbald will be here soon
Watched again...still one of the best out there
**empieza a ver el video y a sentirse la única persona de mi idioma que ve este canal**
Alv, Pint tiene audiencia miltilingüe
Nop, no eres la unica persona.
Acá otro latino que ve contenido de wow en inglés 👋🏻
...Argentina.
Y amo a este maldito gnomo mage aAAAAAAA
All my loves for Quel'Danas server
5:20 reminded me of Internet Historian's Add thyme so much. I love it. :D ❤️ And this video was sooooooo good in so many ways, 10/10 like always Pint! :)
Inb4 the bald man reacts for three hours of react content with 99% of it being "Man, dood, what the fuck." about him being in the vid
I would literally, unironically watch anything you make, banger vid every single time, even the older stuff
1:22 does anyone know who she is?
Congrats on leveling up to Le epic UA-camr! We will miss you on the stoop! Make lots of famous friends!
The campaign to get Internet Historian to follow Pint on Twitter begins!
I always get excited seeing that Pint uploaded a video. I think you have a great and relatable personality which always makes your videos a pleasure to watch. You have a great sense of humor and on top of that you have interesting thoughts and opinions that I like to listen to and you present them in a way that's really fun to watch. Keep up the great work man :) don't beat yourself up
