A day after this video came out, Emo_Oticon broke the record (38 seconds now) using Pints strats. When Pint said to break the record, I think Emo took it as a challenge.

The fact that you managed to shake the legend out of retirement is itself a huge achievement! Anyone making fun of you for having the record broken so soon after you’ve made it does not understand the spirit of speedrunning. Congrats to you all the same!🎉
When Pint challenged anyone to break his record, I felt like he meant it directly to Em0 lol. Pint showed him a lot of respect in this vid so I don’t think he’s mad about the legend Em0 coming out of retirement to make a new record. Like, only Pint could do that!
Everything comes back to this video lmao, It's truly wild how relevant this video has been. Strawberry Cheesetart 17:17 and her team just got banned from speedrunning logs for illegal activities.

@@just_radical em0's run is incredibly perfect so I find it hard to believe it will be beaten with only using shukuchi, and em0 didn't actually use ninja for the whole run, I'm guessing because with ninja a lot of the precise parts get messed up by the speedboost. I love how he respected your efforts with a reply record! legendary moment for you! A world record and a chance to bring him back and find him! GG both of you! good show!
The best part of your videos is that I learn something from them. In this case, a wandering legend who moves from game to game, to set records not for glory, but because they could.
Came here to mention that this fight for Kugane Tower may have been referenced in patch 4.5! When climbing the mountain of crates in the new Variant dungeon: "Hancock: By the kami, , how did you get up there? Hancock: Adventurers and their climbing... Why, just the other day, on Kugane Tower─ But perhaps that is a tale for another time." Huge coincidence? Or content dialogue localized right at the time this video came out?
I feel compelled to mention that for non-speed runners making it to the top of the tower is only the first part of the challenge. Timing the jump to the vista on the lamp post below is where many of us are broken.
Shoutout to the first time I landed the lamp post, freaked out celebrating and hit my auto run key before I could grab the sightseeing log in my blind fury i oneshot the tower and nailed the jump on my next attempt
The firs time I made it up the tower was also the first time I landed on the vista. That's where I used up all my luck because I haven't gotten many good savage loot roles since then.
It's a trick. The jump to the lamp post is easy. See the railings on the roof? See how there's a yellow piece at the end of the railing? As long as you're sprinting, jump straight ahead and jump right at the yellow piece, you'll land it every single time.
Records will always be broken, but a gem of a video like this will stand to the test of time. You told an amazing story, gave a name to an ancient speed-running legend, and earned yourself a subscriber.
This video was a MASTERCLASS. A Journey, a love letter, an underdog story, a shout out, and an inspirational Epic!! Also, scrimbally bimbally got me every time.
Not only did Emo_0ticon come back and destroy the record? LOL he even landed on the landmark without a miss. Just casually appeared. Destroyed. Vanished again without a word lol....Legend haha! Still a great video Pint! As always!
Dude your editing, I simply cannot with how good it is. Not just the fancy tricks and plugins you use, but your use of the medium for compelling storytelling and sincerely funny gags.
I hope this gets the leaderboard up because I've wanted that thing for years. I used to casually done the tower while bored for years with a pb around 3:30 and failing the last jump once around 1:30 because I was pogging too hard. And stopped keeping track after. I'm actually glad you found the guy from 2017 because I'd been wondering myself how fast someone had done it and didn't find anything.
I love how Pint gave so much credit to the legend and made him well known to a lot of people as well as be recognized for his talents. Great Job! (saw this after seeing Asmon video) edit: forgot to mention how phenomenal this whole video actually is!
Fun fact: immediately after Blue Mage was added to the game, there was no cooldown on the Self-Destruct spell. My server took advantage of this by setting up Red Mages along checkpoints on Kugane tower, where people would Self-Destruct and get raised to progress to the top. This brief moment in time is how I finished my Stormblood sightseeing log.
Always love the editing for these videos, but this one really felt like a short film. The montages, the MOB PSYCHO 100 reference, the respect and work of getting the record breaker's characters appearances just right, EVERYTHING about this was splendid. Your best work yet!
I love the Lalafell just "wah wah wah-ing" in the background at 0:04 hahaha. But seriously, this video is INCREDIBLE. The buildup! The dramatic moments! I got CHILLS in the climax of this vid during your final run, when you go: "One more time." The choice of music preceding and at the start of that final run was so damn hype. Yeah I know Em0 broke this record; but if anything, that's made me love this video even more. Absolutely INSANE job, Pint! 🥳
Oh my God... Emo_0ticon came back after 5 years - And 1 day after Pint broke the record... To take the record back! LOL This content is what I live for! Bring it back Pint!
@Pint You inspired me. I could never do the tower, but after watching your video, I practiced for a few min every time I came to Kugane for Eureka. I just finished the tower for the first time and got the lamppost first try. Thanks for putting the fire back in me to do this.
Just a small mistake, Shukuchi has always been a Target Place movement skill meaning you could always zip wherever you wanted, but Emo_0ticon either used the player as a target for his cursor or as a distance marker since there was no distance locking for target aoes at that time.
I think it was most likely a macro so you dont need to target at all. Can just spame the macro /action shikuchi and then as soon as you hit range it would do it.
@@cressposting Absolutely probably, I was just pointing out that the skill is actually a lot more open in terms of movement options than Pint thought it was.
I love how both of you are good sports about this. I did not expect such a quick follow up from the legend himself shortly after you posted your video. Seeing the competitive spirit being ignited from both of you is such amazing content that I did not expect to get from this.
straight up ripped an entire map for the editing!! im sad each vid takes long, but they're so well made I literally stop what I'm doing and rewatch just to catch every detail amazing work!! :)
The story beats, the editing, the pacing and even a plot twist... This was masterful. This video was an absolute banger and your best one so far. What a legend!
He showed him what he was made of. He came through, had over a year to prepare, beat and complete this Tower, all to prove he was capable of defeating an Age defining speedrunner for his time.. and made him come back for his title. Emo-0ticon returned and set a new height, all because of the effort this man put into beating his record. The question is, how long until the record is broken once more..
Sometimes real life can be epic narratively as well it seems. Not only is there a million epic plot twists in this story, the editing and cinematography is top notch, and I really love how it took specifically 14 days since pint came back to beat the record, with him failing on day 13, the unlucky number. The laugh at the very end gave me chills The story would have had a perfect end if it stayed like this, but as a last thrilling plot twist emo came back and took back his record in one day. I'm so obsessed with this story lol

I've never played FF, it's not my interest but I know how chaotic it is to try a speedrun, even worse wanting the wr in a certain category. Beyond the fact that the record has been beaten again, this video was amazing... It totally describes what you experience to achieve a decent time after suffering so much. Also the comedy and the excellent editing.
I love that feeling when you find a new channel to watch, spend several days watching their content, and then when you finally run out, they post a new video.
Pint this is one of the most intense, engaging, and awe-inspiring content I've seen. The edit, script, and quality is insane. You should be very proud of your work; thank you for sharing this with us 😊
I am so, so thankful I discovered this channel. Every video that comes out, no matter how long it it takes, SMACKS me with a mallet of seratonin that leaves me giddy afterwards. Thank you for all your hard work Pint! This is incredible, I was genuinely getting goosebumps by the end. If I wasn't a smack my head into every invisible wall elezen, I might even go into FF right now and try it!
Something I noticed btw, Ninja's Shukuchi teleport in Stormblood didn't require an ally to target. It's ground targeted. It's possible that person was acting as a marker on exactly where he should put his mouse, since they didn't have the max distance option back then for ground targeted AoE's and clicking past the maximum distance would cancel your attempt at using the spell, but he wasn't using that person to actually use the move itself. Also you could've used Ninja instead of Reaper or Dancer, or even in addition to it if you wanted, because Shukuchi has 2 charges in Endwalker and goes as far as Reapers teleport. That, along with Ninja has a passive that makes you move faster in general, though I don't think it's as fast as Peloton buff while you're on DNC.
This is just beyond a proof of an achievement. This is inspiration. Thank you, both of you, Pint and the soul who tempted him; i see the mountains ahead of me and i will try to even so much as approach the passion you showed to me.
Pint, youre a legend. The amount of effort you put into these videos, the editting, the scripts, the gaming just wow. I been watchin you for a long time off and on and I gotta say youre one of the greatest out there. The dramatic pauses, and weird moments of courage and bravery that oddly enough make a 30 yr old grown man, choke up, all the way to the comedic relief. Its all just such a masterpiece! Thank you, Pint! Keep on keepn on!
I completed kugane tower once, it took much strife and effort, and a level of tenacity i could never hope to meld onto a tank set. I was so proud of myself. Then a week later they added a new sightseeing point onto a lamp post... that required you to jump OFF of kugane tower and thread the proverbial needle to land on top of to get it. I got that sightseeing point last month, by blowing myself up as a blue mage and getting someone who was already standing on it to rez me. Ha. Take that, gravity!
What a tremendous use for the Mob % gauge. You may be the 2nd most talented walljumper in the world, but you are the most talented Editor to exist, Pint!
I hate jump puzzles. So much. But I might have to go sit and cheer folks on in Kugane since I expect the number of new jumpers to go up after this video 😆Congratulations and great job on the editing!!

I made that jump first try by sheer luck and then failed every single time for the next 20 or so attempts.
this shit gives me goosebumps. I can just see that guy watch this video and chuckle as he remembers his past and the nostalgia hits him.
Yeah! I'd love to have him contact Pint about their new world record.
@@brettpresta-valachovic3631 I'd be rolling if he emo/pydoyks posts another video with an even lower time because of this xD
@@adrenalinerush369he already did XD
@@adrenalinerush369 He did go check it out LOL
@@LoveToSpootch oh my gosh pydoyks is wild xD not even giving pint long to savor it.
The voice work at the end was genuinely impressive and gave me chills, I wonder if they've ever done actual voice acting?
Have you not seen the masterpiece that is Pint's Shadowbringers Trailer??!
I love how Pint gave so much credit to the legend and made him well known to a lot of people as well as be recognized for his talents. Great Job! (saw this after seeing Asmon video)
edit: forgot to mention how phenomenal this whole video actually is!
same here XD
This music selection is a love letter to Stormblood. What good times were had. ♥
Stories like this is what make a MMO legendary. Thanks for adding to the legend, Pint.
Exactly what original Vanilla wow had.
Oh my God... Emo_0ticon came back after 5 years - And 1 day after Pint broke the record...
To take the record back! LOL
This content is what I live for! Bring it back Pint!
only pint can make a simple towerjumping challenge make into an lifegoal with seriousness
I was fully expecting an epic silence towards the end, followed by "The next day, he beat my record by 2 seconds."
ua-cam.com/video/Sh4tUWjae8w/v-deo.html 4.5 seconds 🤣
5 seconds apparently.
@@neroblack2704 Oh, he actually did it?
@@Anteman yep, came back after 3 years just to put Pint in his place

@@Hai-fl4gu Well hot dang! Gotta hand it to the guy, he's got persistance!
@Pint You inspired me. I could never do the tower, but after watching your video, I practiced for a few min every time I came to Kugane for Eureka. I just finished the tower for the first time and got the lamppost first try. Thanks for putting the fire back in me to do this.
The commentary mentioning endwalker releasing a week prior needs to highlight how insane Pint's editing is and how much time goes into it.
I wonder how it works with a controller but the macro was probably the way to go
@@cressposting Absolutely probably, I was just pointing out that the skill is actually a lot more open in terms of movement options than Pint thought it was.
@@GBS4893 exactly the same as kb, you can just put the macros on your crossbar and spam it.
It does make me wonder though if you had collaborators if you could do a similar thing even faster now with monk's Thunderclap.
I love how both of you are good sports about this. I did not expect such a quick follow up from the legend himself shortly after you posted your video.
Seeing the competitive spirit being ignited from both of you is such amazing content that I did not expect to get from this.
straight up ripped an entire map for the editing!!
im sad each vid takes long, but they're so well made I literally stop what I'm doing and rewatch just to catch every detail
amazing work!! :)
Everytime Pint returns with a video it's an absolute marvel of cinema. *_Brilliant._*
The story beats, the editing, the pacing and even a plot twist... This was masterful. This video was an absolute banger and your best one so far. What a legend!
Holy shit the storytelling is so good. At this point Pint can make a video about watching paint dry and it would still turn out to be a masterpiece.
Just about.
The question is, how long until the record is broken once more..
its like those anime training montages. where dude trains for like 5 years.... and still gets once'd.
This comment aged like milk, already gone by 4 seconds LUL, literally within hours it was gone
@@Toches Yeah, I did mention at the end that Emo_0ticon came back and set a new height. Though it only being 38 seconds...like Jesus fuck man
@emergancymagic9278 oh , I'm silly I guess
It is funny that it's like 4 seconds shaved off over like 4 hrs
Sometimes real life can be epic narratively as well it seems. Not only is there a million epic plot twists in this story, the editing and cinematography is top notch, and I really love how it took specifically 14 days since pint came back to beat the record, with him failing on day 13, the unlucky number.
The laugh at the very end gave me chills
The story would have had a perfect end if it stayed like this, but as a last thrilling plot twist emo came back and took back his record in one day.
I'm so obsessed with this story lol

So for now I will get the stickers!
Now I want to see a Karl Jobst and/or SummoningSalt video documentary on Kugane Tower speedruns.
I still can’t get over how good your editing is. Your storytelling is also amazing, had me in tears at the end.
I am impressed someone could be this devoted to such a niche speedrun! I am happy to see you made it, even if it was for a day you held a WORLD RECORD for longer than any of us! That means a lot! Thank you for reping the little guys, us lala mains love you! ^^
"To follow the path:
look to the master,
follow the master,
walk with the master,
see through the master,

and in night city you can be cum
I got teary eyed by the end, it was so well edited with the music, the effects, the script, everything.
Phenomenal video.
You made a speed runner com out of retirement to reclaim the record (now 38 sec) right after ya posted this. That in itself is an honor!!
This was incredible, I find the entertainment and storytelling to be extremely fun to follow an always having me at the edge of my seat! :D
Pint would be SICK as a Dungeon Master, i hope to see him DM some day
I've never played FF, it's not my interest but I know how chaotic it is to try a speedrun, even worse wanting the wr in a certain category.
Beyond the fact that the record has been beaten again, this video was amazing...
It totally describes what you experience to achieve a decent time after suffering so much.
Also the comedy and the excellent editing.
4 hours ago, emo_oticon droped a video beating this new record. Amazing from both
I love that feeling when you find a new channel to watch, spend several days watching their content, and then when you finally run out, they post a new video.
Noooo Strawberry....you were supposed to destroy the sin not join them!
For real though, funny seeing all the people who read the doc.
What's insane is, that even without all those extra tools and dashes.. This guy was almost as fast by just hopping. What an insane platformer
He just posted a 38 seconds speedrun of the tower, Emo_0ticon just went "yeah yeah this throne was in a serious need of a dusting now go away"
What's really great about that is he used Pint's new strats. 😂
@@Draeckon No greater honour for a speedrunner.
@@Draeckon He even improved it by adding the Dragoon backflip.
Pint this is one of the most intense, engaging, and awe-inspiring content I've seen. The edit, script, and quality is insane. You should be very proud of your work; thank you for sharing this with us 😊
Wauw, he already beat Pint with a 38.74 time.. holy shit he's a beast..
This is the best video about Pint claiming an FFXIV world record that I've seen today.
I got teary eyed three times in this video from the overwhelming emotions your editing caused me to have.
Simply amazing
I completed kugane tower once, it took much strife and effort, and a level of tenacity i could never hope to meld onto a tank set. I was so proud of myself. Then a week later they added a new sightseeing point onto a lamp post... that required you to jump OFF of kugane tower and thread the proverbial needle to land on top of to get it.
I got that sightseeing point last month, by blowing myself up as a blue mage and getting someone who was already standing on it to rez me. Ha. Take that, gravity!
I think I got it by having my husband summon me onto the post haha
Tenacity best stat.
Guess we now know how strawberry got those perfect runs
That is the most insanely well narrated speedrun world record history I've ever seen. What a legend. Grats on your record!
you'd probably like the videos of Summoning Salt, then
What a tremendous use for the Mob % gauge.
You may be the 2nd most talented walljumper in the world, but you are the most talented Editor to exist, Pint!
Pint: I broke the tower record.
Emo: and I took that personally (breaks the record the next day)
I hate jump puzzles. So much.
But I might have to go sit and cheer folks on in Kugane since I expect the number of new jumpers to go up after this video 😆Congratulations and great job on the editing!!
the summary of the record break had me thinking: "adversity breeds excellence"
one of the greatest examples of healthy competitive spirit - it honestly almost had me tear up. Masterful work, Pint ; - ;
Wasn't expecting a youtube recommendation like this...
But I gotta say, the animation is done remarkably well!
Pint, you just beat a personal high score with this video! Awesome job! Don't worry about how long it takes to get videos out, when they're this good it makes it worth the wait.
