  • This summer, I fell in love with the Berkley Choppo 90 in the bone color after countless fish catches, including some really good ones! When I heard Berkley was coming out with the new Choppo 75, I knew I had to try one out, which is exactly what I did in this video!

    I just got a couple choppo 90s today, I'm really excited to use them. I hope they don't break that easily.

      Awesome! I love the choppo, and I've only had two tails brake on me like that all time (and I use the Choppo a LOT). Thanks for watching!

    Get the fish back in the water quicker, talk after you release them

      Bro you must have never caught a bass. They can stay out of the water for 30 minutes.

    I actually picked up the ozark( wal mart whopper ploppper) for $5.49… gonna try them tomorrow … we will see how they do. Way cheaper for sure. But I’m about to grab some choppo’s for sure.

      @@jamesmadison6650 I’m sure they’ll work, but they aren’t near as loud as the choppo

      I have a whopper plopper too. I just grabbed the ozarks because they are so cheap, so I could try them.

    Aaron, for maximum effectiveness, throwing either the Choppo or the Plopper, does the water have to be an absolute mirror?? Completely still??

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  2 роки тому

      No! There can definitely be some chop on the water. Choppos work great in creeks and rivers where there is a good bit of current! You can check out some of my past videos to see me catch fish on the choppo in current.

    One day I was fishing in a Cypress swamp on the chickahominy river and I casted a whopper plopper into a bush overhanging the river my lure was just touching the water I pulled it out of the water about 2 inches trying to get it unstuck and a 12 pound bowfin jumped out of the water swallowing my lure freeing up the snag I landed the fish thanking him for the great show and getting my favorite lure unstuck. Great video I never tried the choppo I have a couple I got on Clarence last winter I'm definitely going to be trying them this summer.

    I did a video a couple weeks or so ago comparing the 90 plopper and Choppo, I like them both but at the time the Choppo was several dollars cheaper so I recommended it but they shot up in price last week to nearly the same as the plopper so really to me they’re interchangeable now but along with Heddon Torpedoes they give me some of my most entertaining strikes at top water. Beautiful fish there man keep it up, tight lines and happy fishing.

      Yeah, I think both the whopper plopper and the choppo are great lures. Thanks for watching!

    I found a lot of my hits on the Choppo were at the boat or bank.

      That stinks. I believe I have had two break on me, and I own a lot more than two. They work really well, but you definitely have to be careful around rocks.

    What type of line are you using or would you recommend for using the Choppo or whopper plopper style lure?

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  2 роки тому +2

      I was using 30 pound braid, which is what I would recommend for the choppo. Just make sure you use a rod with a pretty light tip. If you use a rod that is too stiff, it will be easier for the treble hooks to get ripped out of a fish’s mouth. Thanks for watching!

    Aaron, how would you compare the Choppo with the genuine River 2 Sea whopper plopper?

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  2 роки тому

      The main difference between a choppo and a whopper plopper is the noise they make. The choppo is a little louder, which I like. I think that is definitely an advantage in creeks and rivers. However, I think the whopper ploppers are a little better quality and can get you more fish per lure. Thanks for watching!

    Great fish, fun strikes, disappointing broken lure. Wow! Hope they are not all like that

    • @AaronsOutdoor1
      @AaronsOutdoor1  Рік тому +1

      I absolutely love the Berkley Choppo, and I think I probably own over 20 of them now. I'm pretty sure this is the only one that I've had break like this. However, that part is definitely more likely to break the the whopper plopper.

    You need to learn how to handle the fish you catch. Don't let them flop around in the bottom of your canoe.
