Damn you Debo! I had almost gone 72 hours without ordering some kind of fishing gear and then I go and watch this video about choppo and now I ordered one. You got me again!
I've thrown the whopper plopper for.years, once I tried the choppo, I never went back, the sound isn't even close, it's a louder plop than the whopper plopper, the hooks are just as good, and the tail will NOT break from fishing it. I've caught hundreds of 4 plus pound fish on it, and it may ding the paint job from fish, it does not mess the blank itself up. So for me, the choppo hands down. Good video
I have been fishing the choppo and whopper Plopper side by side for a couple of years. I like the choppo better. When the lure lands I like to give a sweeping pull to get some heavy splash and sound. the WP will dip under the water half the time, no ruckus. Choppo makes a ruckus ever time. Plus the WP is not an original design. We had musky lures that, although twice as big were exactly the same design as the WP. Nothing wrong with that, WP is a great lure, just saying.
@@mjnagan Watched a guy fishing with a wooden Shakespeare mouse and he was killing smallies. Upped his PB to 6 lbs. 11 ounce. Just shows all lures regardless of age will work.
Hey Debo, just wanted to mention that I swapped over from the whopper Plopper to the Chopo. Reason being,I had better control of the noise that the impeller made with the chopo than the Plopper. And with these baits, the noise is everything! At least in my experience. Also, I use a Bass Pro product called the Double Down Plopper, witch as a forward impeller as well as a aft one. I find if one gets tangled with something the other impeller is usually free to spin and thus remain a valid target. Plus I think they star at 8.99 for a size 90. I have caught a lot of fish with both of these baits. Thanks for a great video, I really enjoyed it!!!
Lunker fish is well thought thru, but the gap between the body and tail gets plugged in weeds. Once it get plugged up the body spins. The body also does spin if you reel them in too fast. But lunker are more versatile in grass and open waters. Caught some really nice bass With the lunker cuz able to go between weeds and then hit an open area where the fish kill it when it starts plopping. Good vid, didn’t know there were more options out there. Sure too try them out 👍🎣
thanks for the advice, just bought one for heavy weeds and lilies. Just wondering if the tail still spins when the body does? Cause really I dont care if the body spins a little if Im fishing heavy cover as long as the tail is still making noise when it can contact the water. Would love to hear your response.
The only topwaters you need are: River 2 Sea Whopper plopper- bone/powder or loon Savage gear Lily Ninja - mouse white(they don't black so make your own with a bag o' dye if need be) they make frogs in black but they don't move as good as that mouse. Storm Buzzbaits - white/chartreuse or black with the extra "clacker" blade for extra noise.
new sub here, thanks for the review DEBO, really liked it. I'm a big believer of the plopper up north in Canadian waters and it did me really well so far. Seeing the comments about the others, I feel like I'll keep my money with R2S and the plopper for true durability and quality of components and keep on ploppin'.
The 75 is hands down my fave model, its loud and you can cast it a country mile. I have a Choppo 90, tried it a couple of times this fall, caught SM and pikes on it, seems an ok bait, will prolly change the hooks on it, one thing good is its loud like a 110.
I bought my 75 Wopper Plopper at Academy Sports Warehouse. Still haven't been able to use it yet. It's Feb 16th. Not time yet. Going to get the Choppo too. Wish you would have fished both in a side by side comparison. Great VIDEO! SHAWN
Fished WP 130 in Black (Loon) for years and many Iowa big bass #5-#6.5. Bought six 120 Black Choppos (Maverick) about 5 years ago when an eBay vendor had them for $4.70 each. Since I do some lure and tackle designing I get particular and always look for ways to improve/modify baits. I matched up the WP130 and C120 tail sections, then modified each of the C120's to have near exact copies of the WP130. Best of both worlds! Never use a split ring on front! C120 @ 7/8oz vs WP130 @ 1 1/8oz means usable on many more MH rods and saves on my old arms! The modified C120 blurping begins almost instantly, so it can be pulsed! Berkley uses sticky Fusion hooks. Ploppers now reside in my archives with one of my fondest memories of a #5.5 LMB coming vertical out of surface with it in its jaw, then head first with it still in its jaw. Nothing better than topwater!
I enjoy my savage gear enough that I went out and got the smaller 100 size. I found however if your retrieve is a bit quick the larger one tends to roll
After watching this, I will stick with my R2S Whopper Plopper. I Love Berkley baits and was hoping for more from the Choppo. The OG WP is insanely durable. I have bounced it off rocks, by accident of course, and it still keeps going. Still have my first plopper, 2019 will be the third year I use it. Well worth the money I paid for it.
I agree that the whopper has been great. The choppo could perform just as well so I'm not counting it out yet. These are just my first impressions so I'll definitely be putting it through it's places. I also like Berkley baits so I'm interested to try it!
I feel your pain Debo. I'm up here in Wisconsin and it is that time of year where all I do is talk and think about how awesome my new lures will be. Stupid winter.
75 and toadrunner worked for me late summer/early fall. Teckel sprinker was awesome until it decided to go rogue and became one with the nearby forest. Run wild Mr. Sprinker. Run free... (sniff...)
Great comparison video. That savage gear design though. I like the way that one looks. You will have to do a followup video on the performance comparison between the four baits. When you grabbed the lunker hunt propfish the first thing that came to mind was "Pop pop ppppaaaauuusssseee". I only have the whopper plopper myself, but I have heard other people in the local bass group that I am in have had success with the Berkley designed version. I cannot wait for the ice to recede already. It is a drive to get to places that allow ice fishing here.
@@DEBOSFishing Taking my first major vacation of a few years in a bit over a week to Playa Mujeres Cancun. Going to take my travel rod and some top water baits to see if I can catch anything on the bank. I do know that we are going to be doing some deep see fishing. I may take my Canon and Video it all.
I just picked up a choppo and have multiple poppers in 75 90 and 110 I was questioning the same stuff how did you like the choppo I havent thrown mine yet and a video ideal is compare the double plopper by Express to the standard plopper
Just bought the Lunkerhunt and the Choppo , havent tried either one yet either. Really interested in the Lunkerhunt in place of a frog but will have to wait till temps allow,
Since I love to throw frogs, I have to try that linker hunt when it warms up in Eastern PA. I also use all sizes of the whopper plopper, so it will be full to compare them.
Love the Lunkerhunt prop fish. Gives a more subtle plop presentation if fish are easily spooked. And yes it's pretty weedless which is convenient in getting into places that the other baits cannot. Another option in the Lunkerhunt brand is the turtle which is slightly heavy but has 2 independent legs that twirl. Much louder plop and somewhat weedless.
Nice! I'm really excited to fish the prop fish. Does seem like a good calm water bait. I've seen the turtle but never used one. Thanks for watching man!
My guess for the weight on the prop would be for better cast ability keeping and keeping it from tangling with line if retrieving in a stop and jerk retrieve.
That could be. I had someone say it's to help keep the tail down. That way you're not fighting the nose digging in. Makes sense...I'm excited to throw it!
Choppo 120 is an absolute beast when it comes to topwater pike. The deep plop from the hard long tail has caught me over 20 northerns in a span of 5 hours. The 110 plopper is a dream for smallies, absolute killer. It just depends on the species of fish you're going after for these lures.
Hell fuckin yea. Being a Florida guy stuck in Wisconsin the choppo 120 makes these pike up here its bitch. We use the choppo 120 for bass back home and Snook smash it in saltwater from what I was told.
i have used both, both are great lures. I have more of the choppo sizes and only have the 90 in the whopper, so far the choppo has stood up very well caught a ton fish on it . My favorite is the 120 caught all sizes of bass and pike, been using the new 105 chopper and seems to work very well. Keep up the great videos, love your stuff.
Hey DEBO, i know this is an old video, but I have been fishing CHOPPO for 3 years now and I have a dozen of them. Since your video, now available are 75 and 105. I have beat up several of my CHOPPO, but my original 90, at that time I had one one to try, was a killer…. I cough hundreds of smallies over a big fishing weekend and i have hit dozen and dozen or rocks and i got my choppo to bounce over rocks, trees, docks…. And i have to say that any of my choppo NEVER broke neither the prop. As far as i am concerned, CHOPPO is the BEST
If you've been a Dahlberg fan, you've seen the S. american tooth monsters he designed this for, hence the more solid body and beefier hardware. Haven't seen the Lunker Hunt yet, it looks like a design for short skipping retrieves across grass mats rather than a fairly steady retrieve like the Whopper plopper. Really dig Dahlberg's style, but his naming process, (well?)
Hahah yea I've looked up some of that. I'm excited to test the others. Heard good things and water FINALLY opened up here. I'll be testing topwater lures soon!
I made my old school dad and his buddy believers in the Berkeley choppo recently (Top water in general really). On a dark stormy night in shallow/weeded water I handed them Choppos since it was the only lure I could successfully run and everyone caught fish that night. I agree with what some of the pros tend to say, the bone color and black are the only ones you really need. Side note: I have only really caught dinks on them (under 2 lbs) but I’ve only ran the 90’s so far. I’ll be grabbing some 110’s soon.
Really! It looked like the hookup was going to be ok. I'm a BIG fan of frogs that have legs/bodies that move out of the way of the hook. Wonder if that hard back tail is getting in the way?
JACK WILLIAMS I messed around with the hooks to improve my hook up. I noticed the hooks were a little pointing into the body more then what I liked, so I opened them up, away from the body. 👍
I can tell you that the hook up ratio here in Florida for me is about 95 percent but after that you have to rely on kind of crappy hooks. I will say I fish with a lot of there older baits. To every lure there is a preferred cadence to where you magnify your chances, you might want to play around with that and will vary day to day.
I've never seen the Lunkerhunt Propfish, but I'd love an update on that. Have you had any success with it? That little bait looks pretty sweet. The other Whopper Plopper imitators look like just lesser versions of River2Sea's. If they were a lot cheaper I could see buying some. Until then, I'll spend a few extra bucks for the beefier materials. Great content, great breakdown, very informative.
Debo! I would absolutely love if you did a ChatterBait video! I've tried several times to buy chatterbaits and fish them but none of them had quite the action that I was looking for. Last year I was out on a lake that was during musky spawn. I was in a kayak and then there was a gentleman fishing on shore for bass with a chartreuse ChatterBait and he hooked into 7 musky over the course of about 45 minutes and landed three of them. A comparison video just like this would be absolutely amazing!
Late to the party, but the savage ones have a very noticeable chop chop chop sound. Was throwing both whopper plopper 90s and the 3.75 in savage gears, and caught my 1st largemouth bass
Love em but the good ones aren't cheap and it hurts to lose one to an old lake bottom. I do have a question for you if you have time. Where can I get a fair deal on tungsten weights. I imagine they are expensive anywhere.
Yea, the risk of losing them is there but you run that chance with any lure. I've come to accept that I'm going to use some from time to time. I highly recommend beast coast tungsten. Good prices and they are great guys to deal with. Thanks for watching man!
Bass pro shop have their own version , but it’s a DOUBLE plopper , front and back spinner tails it’s call XPS extreme performance series double down plopper , and cost less then the original plopper The savage gear looks nice, I haven’t pick one up to try yet .. The lunker was very quite compare to the whopper ... it’s very quite ..
I've heard of the BPS one. I have yet to find one when I go. I'll keep an eye out for one. That stinks about the lunkerhunt one. I was really hoping it would produce. I'll still throw it! Thanks for watching man!
Never heard of the Lunkerhunt Propfish before. I'm definitely getting one now. Will be great for Bullseye Snakehead down here in South Florida. Snakehead love frogs and they love ploppin and the LHPF will provide both! Great review by the way, very appreciated!
It looks like a bait that is good enough to sell a bunch of ignorant fishermen who already have a lot of top water prop baits and hollow body frogs. Why fish a lesser version of both when you can fish the total version of both or either, which ever type you can get a bass to hit? All Lunker Hunt lures seem like that to me. Hybrids=losers
Most of my fish in my videos are from a 90 Whopper Plopper. The 75's are very nice, but I got them at the end of last season and didn't get to try it much. The 110 is great also, so I honestly don't know what one is better, but the 90 in loon color was my first and the fish haven't stopped ever since I tied it on, so there wasn't much reason to try to other sizes out too much. The only size I don't personally find useful, is the 130, and that's mostly just because it's too big for what I fish, but for others it may be their favorite size. I have to say the new 75 is the best looking and most different and I can't wait to try it more come September.
love the R2S plopper but you cant bounce it off a dock, rocks or anything without it exploding and taking in water. was only a matter of time till someone expanded on the R2S plopper to make it different or apply to different areas
Keep doing what you doing man all I really like your videos bro I learned so much with you I actually started bass fishing because of you I love watching your videos and the way you explain everything man I really appreciate your videos I am a catfish fisherman and I just start bass fishing this season because of your videos I really appreciate it man thank you💪💪👍🎣
Do you plan on shooting a video fishing these lures head to head? Maybe this summer. You and Randizzle. Some friendly competition. Just a thought. Love the channel.
I have the choppo and the plop is like the 110 and the weight and casting “splash” is more like the 90. I like it to be honest but haven’t had the right time (weather) to fish it yet. High hopes but won’t abandon my whopper ploppers just yet but I do like the price.
Yea, I'm definitely going to fish the heck out of it. I feel like it can still be a solid lure, just some initial things made me nervous. I won't decide until I actually put it to the test! Thanks for watching sir!
Whopper Ploppers have been around for quite a while but they aren't the OG. Bucher Top Raider, Sennett Pacemaker were out before the Whopper Plopper if im not mistaken.
I know there are a lot of that style, especially for muskie fishing. I didn't get into them until the plopper though. It had proven to be a darn good bait so that is why it's the one to beat for me. How do those baits that you named off compare to the plopper?
The whopper plopped is a great bait don’t get me wrong, but I don’t like how I have to hold the rod tip up when reeling from a long cast. But it’s still a great bait, but I slightly prefer throwing a spook. Great video Debo!!
Great stuff I'm very interested in these lures! After some education from a few of your videos I have realized frogs and maybe that lunker hunt have been sorely missing in my fishing arsenal. Ya dont know till ya know...thx Debo!
I have the prop fish in blue gill and have caught fish on it but fish seem to miss the hooks alot running it and a rabbit frog side by side the frog is more consistent even running slow letting them have it for a second or two I’m going to get a plopper and a choppo and see what one I like best I’d imagine both with catch but the plopper is lots tuffer built and will most likely last a lot longer
Yeah I have heard that about thr prop fish. I'm excited to try the choppo. Seems like it will be good, I just wonder about the durability. I'll definitely be giving feedback as I try it!
I bought both a 90 and a 75 near the end of summer, but have yet to catch anything of either of them. That being said, I haven't experienced a really hot topwater bite recently either, so hopefully they will start earning their keep come spring.
@@DEBOSFishing Heh, well... I just lost the friggin 75 yesterday! I cast it out on my baitcaster, and POP, the line broke mid-cast sending it sailing out into the middle of the river. I think I must have had a backlash or something that snagged up and broke the line. I've had that happen before on several occasions, always seemingly when I am really trying to hurl the lure out there a long way. I'm trying to train myself to stop doing that. Such a dumb and moderately expensive mistake. Sigh. Why is life so hard?
@@Nate_Cross it was braid wasn't it! That stinks and I've had the same happen. Would be a good video. I'll have to check out a 75. The good news for you is...time to go lure shopping!
The plopper "seems" played out but it still catches fish pretty much everywhere. The choppo definitely sounds different and it's because of the tail size, shape and angle of the cup. What it's made of also changes the sound, to me is sounds almost hollow but its def loud enough. I use it for choppy water mostly but it really works in open water where I've had more success with it than the plopper. I like the smaller ploppers more, the 75 and 90 being the majority of the ones I have mainly because I dont fish them in open water like the choppo. The prop fish is a lot like the sprinker and toad runner in use but it sounds different than those. I've used it in cover like a frog but I've had more luck on weed lines and sparse veg than the choppo and plopper. Haven't thrown the smash tail yet, profile doesnt appeal to me much as a bass lure, looks more like a pike/pickerel lure profile to me but who knows
Yes! This is awesome info! I thought that about the choppo. As long as the durability is good then I think it could be a good bait. Thanks for sharing all of this man!
@@DEBOSFishing no worries, the durability is def decent, I haven't changed split rings or hooks and everything is still holding strong, I have 8 choppos in all, 4 colors in both the 90 and 120 size and I haven't had any problems with any of them. Ghost shad and maverick are killer in central Florida, ghost bluegill and ghost white are solid and def catch fish but I've caught more over 4lbs on the ghost shad and maverick
I have both the whopper plopper and the LH Prop frog both are great .the LH fish/frog do roll and are not as noisey in the water .. i also have the Savage 3d ducks . SAVAGE is owned by Okuma Company
I just started using the Whopper plopper this year the 110 size and the 90 size. Have yet to catch anyting but I hardly used them. Before me going out buying more or different kinds I will stick with the plopper. The lunker one in your video looks like one I might have to buy. I would like for you to do a video on swim jigs or swimbaits.
I’m late to comment. But that weight on the tail is likely to slow the spin rate of the tail. Likely to get the plopping sound the designers want. Think of a spinning ice skater. When they have their arms out they spin slower compared to when they pull their arms into their body. Its physics and the conservation of angular momentum.
I've only used the Savage Gear Smash tail 100 (in firetiger colour) as you know im a Pike fisherman so cant comment on it for Bass. But, for Pike ive had couple of small ones, up to 6lbs. but my buddy whose lure it is (he let me throw it few times, fool that he is) has had Pike to 18lb 6oz. That's pretty big fish hitting a top water and the hooks held fine. Max from savage gear said that the small Metal rivet in the tail enhances the sound and spit calling predator fish. I've just ordered one for myself. I know springs a long way away but there's three spots I fish that are super shallow and weedy. And they have quite a few pike in them and I have a feeling one rolling over their heads just few inches up might still tempt them. we will see.
Interesting, those are darn good pike. I'd guarantee if there are pike in there, they will hit it. I'm definitely interested to see the difference and throw it around pike too! Thanks for your support my friend!
Haven’t fished Savage Gear, but the Choppo is LEGIT! Great hooks and hardware. No complaints other than not as many sizes available yet. I don’t buy WP anymore.
Thanks man! I could do spooks. I have a video from this fall where I go over how to walk it. I need to do a dedicated video on it next spring for sure. Thanks for watching! 👊
I only throw the choppo or plopper, the choppo has rattles if i want more comotion on the surface i'll run it, but usually ive actually switched from the choppo to the plopper in most applications especially with the 90 size with it having a smaller tail and being a much more subtle option
I read about it and it says the rivet is to add an extra sound/squeak. I've caught a couple on it but nothing too crazy. I'll definitely keep throwing it.
That’s academy’s line of hard baits that are good looking but ALL are fragile and have crap hardware. They probably have 1000+ sku’s and sell a ton of them at what I consider to be a very fair price.
Legit informative comparison, Debo. I love the Whoppet Plopper 90 and 110 but will check out the other options - maybe not the Berkley. It appears to just be a bad version of the Whopper Plopper.👍👊
Another quality vid! I'll be interested to see what you think of the Choppo and the Savage once you've used them a bit. For the price point I'd have to consider the Choppo compared to the price of the others. That 16 bucks lost would weally make me aplopoplectic! Ha! Wait, what? You like to frog fish?
I'm loyal to the River 2 Sea Whopper Plopper. I own all of them from size 75 on up and will never buy the cheap knock offs! So in my opinion it isn't dead, hasn't even come close to being dead and will never die. I have caught everything from Crappie to Northern Pike on them and they never fail.
The reason for the lighter hardware on the savage gear is because they consider that you could get snagged up and instead of just losing the whole £16 lure you just lose the £1 hooks which can easily be replaced
I think the hooks are fine if you use a soft crankbait rod. I just prefer fishing them on a stouter setup and like the heavier hooks. All personal preference. Thanks for watching man 👊
I run all of them except the savage gear. I like them all. They all catch fish in the right conditions. I do tend to use the plopper and lunkerhunt more often. They both get about equal use. All depends on what type of water I'm fishing. The plopper is not dead at all.
I tried the whopper ploppers and just don’t feel that they’re worth the money, so I’ll stick to buzz baits and my strike king sexy dog. Haven’t had a chance to test out the toad runner yet
Yeah, I know quite a few folks who are not fans. I've had good success but it all depends on the individual. Just gotta stick with what you have confidence in. Thanks for watching man!
david wilson i wasn’t sold on the WP initially. After several attempts over a multitude of trips on the yak I had all but given up - but then one day it all came together and it has been my go to ever since. The smallmouth on the White River in Central IN cant get enough o the WP!!
The price is why I purchased the Berkley. Black and Frog Color is a killer. $20 for 1 lure is just to expensive. Never used a Savage, however by just fishing the Berkley, I can tell you, using Braid line, the weight would keep the back end of the lure down in the water. I love braid, but using a top water lure begs for Mono line. You left out the Googan Squad Revolver. I would never buy the Lunkerhunt, too much of a rubber frog. The plopper style is a must.
A big thing to consider about the Whopper Popper is that they're made for more "big game" fish with hardware to match. The Choppo is more bass oriented.
Ok I’d Like to see a video of the LunkerHunt Prop Fish in action and I know this is an Old Video so I may have missed it. I like the Concept of a lot of the LunkerHunt Stuff and still think the little Kermit Legs are cool lol.
They're pretty worthless though I have caught bass on em around lilys. They make little to no noise, little movement in the water and don't walk for shit(which I expected but remained hopeful.) Definitely a cast, reel, cast, reel kinda lure like the ploppers.
I've used the Chopo I own 2 one black and one white and whopper plopper in black and one in clear the Lunkerhunt prop fish of which I own at least 6 I haven't caught much on the Lunkerhunts but I dont use them as often as the whopper popper or Chopo but I will have to try to. I caught my PB on the black chopo 6 lbs 15 to 16 inches!!
First thing to break on choppo is the tail. I hit it off a bridge and yea. Tail shot. Bought another immediately though because pike and muskie smash the 120 size. Even small bass inhaled the 120 choppo. My best 120 is the chrome and black.
The Whopper Plopper is great, but I think the newer Choppos coming out are far better. They're making them sturdier than from what you just reviewed here. Where the Whopper Plopper falls short is how it had a rolling tendency and your braid and leader gets twisted up.
I don’t think the whopper plopper is dead. But I do think there’s a lot more options today that do better in more situations. Like the livetarget commotion shad or the teckel sprinker. And you can’t forget about the good old lunkerhunt prop frogs.
Good video
The Whopper Plopper will never be replaced. Often imitated, never duplicated
Agreed, always in my rotation man!
Agreed
I have been fishing the choppo and whopper Plopper side by side for a couple of years. I like the choppo better. When the lure lands I like to give a sweeping pull to get some heavy splash and sound. the WP will dip under the water half the time, no ruckus. Choppo makes a ruckus ever time. Plus the WP is not an original design. We had musky lures that, although twice as big were exactly the same design as the WP. Nothing wrong with that, WP is a great lure, just saying.
@@mjnagan I like your non biased opinion, when do you throw them? I picked up a 75 today with the cash I got from selling a old rod
@@mjnagan Watched a guy fishing with a wooden Shakespeare mouse and he was killing smallies. Upped his PB to 6 lbs. 11 ounce. Just shows all lures regardless of age will work.
Been fishing the Berkeley for the last month (August) lots of nice fish…..yesterday my biggest….8.9
Sure too try them out 👍🎣
Nice! I'm excited to try that lunker out. Will be fun to see how the others work as well. Thanks for watching man!
thanks for the advice, just bought one for heavy weeds and lilies. Just wondering if the tail still spins when the body does? Cause really I dont care if the body spins a little if Im fishing heavy cover as long as the tail is still making noise when it can contact the water. Would love to hear your response.
The only topwaters you need are:
River 2 Sea Whopper plopper- bone/powder or loon
Savage gear Lily Ninja - mouse white(they don't black so make your own with a bag o' dye if need be) they make frogs in black but they don't move as good as that mouse.
Storm Buzzbaits - white/chartreuse or black with the extra "clacker" blade for extra noise.
I like all of those picks man. (Especially the frog 😍🐸) Thanks for watching 👊

Wow. That was a great, detailed comparison between the WP and the choppo. One I've never heard. Thanks Debo.
I hope you do a comparison video in the water. I was looking at buying the choppo, and had never seen the other two.
Yes, I will definitely follow up with that video this spring. I'm already excited and that's months away lol.
I feel your pain Debo. I'm up here in Wisconsin and it is that time of year where all I do is talk and think about how awesome my new lures will be. Stupid winter.
Hahah yea. I'm going to do the ice fishing thing. Just waiting for ice that is thick enough.
@Brayden31 I'm right there with you man!
Sorry boys but I'm down here in Dallas. I fish every day at lunch. hats off to y'all. I couldn't do it. Hang in there...winter can't last forever
I’m from Canada times are getting sad don’t even have time to hunt because it gets dark at 5:00 :(
@@CowboyCarCrushing damn you! Hahah I'm envious of you. The ice is sooooo fun... (sarcasm) hahah thanks for watching man!
75 and toadrunner worked for me late summer/early fall. Teckel sprinker was awesome until it decided to go rogue and became one with the nearby forest. Run wild Mr. Sprinker. Run free... (sniff...)
Hahahah come on sprinker...get with the program 😂 Thanks for watching sir!
Lmfao Nantucket
LMFAO...
moths later....feel the pain broski
Great comparison video. That savage gear design though. I like the way that one looks. You will have to do a followup video on the performance comparison between the four baits. When you grabbed the lunker hunt propfish the first thing that came to mind was "Pop pop ppppaaaauuusssseee". I only have the whopper plopper myself, but I have heard other people in the local bass group that I am in have had success with the Berkley designed version. I cannot wait for the ice to recede already. It is a drive to get to places that allow ice fishing here.
Yes, I'll definitely follow up with an on the water test. I'm there with you man, c'mon spring! Lol thanks for watching sir!
@@JoeWeymouth heck yea man, that will be a blast. Good luck!
I just picked up a choppo and have multiple poppers in 75 90 and 110 I was questioning the same stuff how did you like the choppo I havent thrown mine yet and a video ideal is compare the double plopper by Express to the standard plopper
I haven't heard of those from Express. The choppo has done well this year for me!
In my country a 6cm version would be used the most... we dont have bass here... only pike and perch would attack them here
Just bought the Lunkerhunt and the Choppo , havent tried either one yet either. Really interested in the Lunkerhunt in place of a frog but will have to wait till temps allow,
I hear you there, I'm really excited to put these to work. Thanks for watching man!
Since I love to throw frogs, I have to try that linker hunt when it warms up in Eastern PA. I also use all sizes of the whopper plopper, so it will be full to compare them.
Yes, I agree. That little frog/fish seems like it could be useful! Thanks for watching!
DEBO'S Fishing My initial guess is that also, to keep the ass end down and plopping.
@@donnie017 yea, makes sense!
What color 110 do you like for smallies?
Whooper Plopper Bluegill color rocks - caught well over 100 bass this summer on that lure
Nice man! I didn't catch as many as I wanted to on the plopper this year. Those blowups are too dang fun!
Nice. Just picked that color up today
i have used both, both are great lures.
Gotta finish the video after work! Good stuff Debo!
Appreciate you tuning in man!
I got a prop fish in an LTB. Was excited at first. Very quiet bait. But my hook up ratio was horrible. Maybe others have had better luck.
@@timprall5417 love the tips!
You crazy!. I use a split ring barrel swivel with my Whopper ploppers. Prevents line twist. Great video.
I got a 10 pack of knock-off Whopper Ploppers and a Lunkerhunt prop fish in green and orange Perch. Super excited to use both!!
Great vid Debo! Not much beats the excitement of the top water smash. Can’t wait to check out your vid using the prop fish. It looks very interesting.
It's too dang fun! Yea, gotta wait a bit for those vids lol. Oh well, ice fishing in the meantime!
I was not a fan of the Prop fish. It did tend to roll and the plop is very subtle. I'd rather toss the choppo or whopper.
River2sea Whopper plopper wins! They started the whole program! love Berkley!!!!!!
Late to the party, but the savage ones have a very noticeable chop chop chop sound. Was throwing both whopper plopper 90s and the 3.75 in savage gears, and caught my 1st largemouth bass
Chappo 105 in ghost blue gill has been getting it done on the Kalamazoo river.
Bass pro shop have their own version , but it’s a DOUBLE plopper , front and back spinner tails it’s call XPS extreme performance series double down plopper , and cost less then the original plopper
The savage gear looks nice, I haven’t pick one up to try yet ..
I'm an OG Plopper guy so I wont be switching anytime soon. But that Lunker frog/fish situation looks smashable.
I hear you man. I'm interested to test them out!
I have the LH prop fish and it isnt as noisey as the whopper ploppers . .
Yea, that's where the prop frogs are great. Similar action but weedless and soft bodied. Thanks for watching man.

If you put a split ring on ur 90 or 110 you should not have that problem.Instantly starts spinning.Hope that helps friend.
Thanks for watching man. Yea, the thing I've noticed is to just reel as soon as it hits. That, along with holding the rod up, have helped me.

Hey man. Who makes the shadow shads? I'm not familiar with those?
Great stuff I'm very interested in these lures! After some education from a few of your videos I have realized frogs and maybe that lunker hunt have been sorely missing in my fishing arsenal. Ya dont know till ya know...thx Debo!
I'm the same way man. Never know till you try it! Hope you get some huge frog blowups man!
Lol "if you're new to the channel, Hi I'm Debo, I like to frog fish" you got me bro, I subbed. Don't care for the Lunker Hunt. Cool video dude
Heyyy! Another #verifiedfeeshinfriend Thanks for joining man. Yea, I'm admittedly a frog fish lover hahahh
I bought both a 90 and a 75 near the end of summer, but have yet to catch anything of either of them. That being said, I haven't experienced a really hot topwater bite recently either, so hopefully they will start earning their keep come spring.
They definitely did for me. Keep tossing them and I'm confident you'll catch fish! Thanks for watching man!
I love my old ploppers! I caught two 3 pounders off the dock yesterday :)
You have a great voice for youtube. Great video.
Thanks man, appreciate you watching my videos 👊

Thanks Brother 👍
I’m late to comment. But that weight on the tail is likely to slow the spin rate of the tail. Likely to get the plopping sound the designers want.
Think of a spinning ice skater. When they have their arms out they spin slower compared to when they pull their arms into their body. Its physics and the conservation of angular momentum.
Nice review, subscribed. Plopper lives on, every box needs for the unique variety it offers.
You sir are a #verifiedfeeshinfriend 👊 The plopper had been a beast! I'm excited to try the other types. Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks for another great video! I have been enjoying ur variety of product testing and different tricks and techniques! Fish on!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Have a good weekend. More tests and such to come!
Love the whopper 90. Haven't landed any yet but 3 good blow ups on frog pattern. Great vid Debo.
You will man. I have confidence if you keep throwing it! Appreciate you watching man!
Maybe next video do spooks and how the fish them. Like walking the dog .
Thanks and keep them coming big fan.
Thanks man! I could do spooks. I have a video from this fall where I go over how to walk it. I need to do a dedicated video on it next spring for sure. Thanks for watching! 👊
I think the weight will make it have more momentum and splash more on the water
Great video!!! I am interested to see how the other versions work!! I haven’t had much luck with the whopper plopper!!!
Yea, I'm excited to try them too. Keep tossing it man, it's definitely a fish catcher!
I only throw the choppo or plopper, the choppo has rattles if i want more comotion on the surface i'll run it, but usually ive actually switched from the choppo to the plopper in most applications especially with the 90 size with it having a smaller tail and being a much more subtle option
The weight on savage gear is so it doesn’t get stuck above the lure I think
I read about it and it says the rivet is to add an extra sound/squeak. I've caught a couple on it but nothing too crazy. I'll definitely keep throwing it.
H2O Xpress also recently came out with their own plopper style prop bait. Haven't used it long enough yet, but it sounds good.
Interesting. I haven't seen that one at all.
Don't count it out yet. Those are just my initial thoughts. I definitely will give it a fair chance on the water. Thanks for watching my friend! 👊
Yea, that's why I was so hesitant to pick up the plopper. It has served me well though. Yea...shocker...I like frog feeshin hahaha
I completely agree. Love the whopper plopper. All just depends on what you have confidence with. Thanks for watching 👊
@@DEBOSFishing long live the plopper.. especially the 130 loon!
I like these comparison videos, also that savage gear plopper looks pretty sweet.

Love them all but caught the biggest on the googan squad revolver.
just ordered a 75 and a 90 to go with my new topwater rod and reel i also just ordered. Looking forward to using them.
I tried the whopper ploppers and just don’t feel that they’re worth the money, so I’ll stick to buzz baits and my strike king sexy dog. Haven’t had a chance to test out the toad runner yet

david wilson i wasn’t sold on the WP initially. After several attempts over a multitude of trips on the yak I had all but given up - but then one day it all came together and it has been my go to ever since. The smallmouth on the White River in Central IN cant get enough o the WP!!
youve not used the right color then or fully experienced night fishing with them then.
Great comparison, Thanks...I just order a few Whopper Ploppers. NC Kerr Lake
You're welcome and thanks for taking time to watch!
I like the looks of that LH prop fish!! Good stuff, Debo👍
Thank you sir. I like it too and hope to catch some toads on it!
Debo’s got the best tips!!!!!!
Like if you agree👍🏼
You're too kind my friend. Thanks for watching!
A big thing to consider about the Whopper Popper is that they're made for more "big game" fish with hardware to match. The Choppo is more bass oriented.

They're pretty worthless though I have caught bass on em around lilys. They make little to no noise, little movement in the water and don't walk for shit(which I expected but remained hopeful.) Definitely a cast, reel, cast, reel kinda lure like the ploppers.

You’ve twisted your braid?.. 😂 tf are you doing?…
I use the 90 for smallmouths. They seem to like it quite well.
Any update on how these new lures fished for you?
I don’t think the whopper plopper is dead. But I do think there’s a lot more options today that do better in more situations. Like the livetarget commotion shad or the teckel sprinker. And you can’t forget about the good old lunkerhunt prop frogs.
