- This new Mjölnir soap and aftershave from Hendrix Classics will be released 2/1/2024. I’m trying it out today for the first time. I’m also using my Edwin Jagger 3one6 razor with the Personna lab blue blade and a Mojo Brush.

I got 100 Personna Lab Blue after being very impressed with the five I got with my Blackbird. I find them sharp, very smooth and they stay sharper compared to the other blades I use. They took the number 1 spot for my favourite blade.

Great shave Ken. I’ve only tried the Personna comfort coated made in the USA blades. They are pretty sharp yet smooth which is my favorite. Probably tied in my top 3 list but being made in the USA pushes them to number 1.

I read somewhere that the Personna Lab Blue (plain white thick paper blade wrapper and made in the USA) and the Personna Med Prep are the same blade, with the Med Prep having some extra cleaning procedure during manufacture, due to them getting used in Hospitals.

Those are the med preps. The lab blue are not blue, they are in the white paper. They are the same blades from the same manufacturer, it seems the med prep just have extra steps to meet regulations for healthcare. Neither are discontinued, just Accutec will be selling them under their own brand name.

Excellent shave Ken. They are the same blades they just changed the name and packaging. Personna is now known as AccuThrive and they are made in Verona, Virginia and are about 184 miles north from here. Geofatboy did a side by side comparison and could not tell the difference between them.

the blue wrappers are the Accuthrive blades. they are from Accutec and are the rebranded Med Preps. Geofatboy did a comparison.
They are very sharp but not as smooth as the Accuforge (rebranded Lab Blue).

Great shave. I checked and the Personna Med Prep blades are rebranded as AccuThrive as many people in the comments have stated. The 100 pack for them is very pricey to buy though, so you might have to save extra cash for that. Have a good one!

Very soothing shave, Ken.👍🏾. The audio feedback from the razor sounds so good. I always watch your shave video closely to also learn techniques and listen to your advise, and must confess that my shaves have improved since I started looking out for techniques in shave videos. Still looking closely at getting the all-steel EJ316 (for the weight advantage) soon because of all the good reviews about their razors. Please can you advise on this plan?

I can’t wait to try this scent I’m planning on ordering a bunch of stuff tomorrow anyway. You should try musashi shave soap and after shave I just recently got it and I think it smells amazing and it’s definitely in my top two favorites!!!

Personna "Med Prep" blades say "For Hospital Use" on the blade, Lab Blue blades do not say this. New Lab Blue blades are the same just different packaging. FYI! Nice razor, I gave my SS version to my son as a gift. Soap looks right up my alley, haven't tried HC&C yet. Good shave and results today, thanks. Enjoy!

After watching your last video, I went ahead and purchased the Personna Med Blue blades as well; not wanting to miss an opportunity to use them because they are obsolete. I had heard of them before and that they were a good quality blade made in the usa. That was my most deciding factor; I was just wanting to support a made in USA DE blade. I bought mine from eBay also. In the description it said it was the Med Blue blades; I hope so. I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Those are Personna Med Preps… my favorite blade. They’ve recently been rebranded as AccuThrive (I think?). Haven’t tried the new version yet. I still have about 50-60 of the old ones left

I didn't know Haltane and Oud for Greatness are really close. Same thing as Mont Blanc and Fierce from Abercrombie and Fitch.

Great shave Ken. My Edwin jagger 3 1 6 absolutely tears my face up. Tried different blades with same results. It’s just too aggressive for my face. Hate to part with it because it looks awesome

@@kensurfs I wanted the blue or red but ended up with the stainless steel. Go figure 🤔. I use it mainly with a used blade. I did get the Henson in blue which looks awesome and performs well

Great video, as usual. I could be mistaken but the blade you showed is a discontinued version of the Personna Comfort Coated blade. The Personna Comfort Coated blades are still being made and sold here in the USA. Some still call them "Lab Blue". They come in a blue and white box and say Personna Comfort Coated. They are sharp and smooth. I buy mine from either Shave Nation or West Coast Shaving. They both carry them.

Heya ken. I just got an order from IB a few minutes ago. A razorock mamba 70 with a superknurl handle, game changer 68 with a barberpole handle, an extra game changer top cap, 50 feather blades, and 2 pucks each of the 6 scents of what the puck shave soap. I think I'm gonna shave for a while lol.

Nice setup and shave. Label looks great. Yea the RR Hawk OC is listed as midrange but to me is the most aggressive. I have all 3 plates. The OC is no joke- it will mow down some growth. Watch any loose skin. The other 2 SB plates are smoother for me.

You always use an interesting variety of soaps. I have compared the Peronna Med Preps to the Personna Comfort Coated (Lab Blues). I know blades are YMMV but I could not detect any difference. So, I bought a 100-pack of the Lab Blues for about one-fourth the Med Preps' price. The Accuthrive Med Preps have replaced the Personna Med Preps at a price between $65 and $70 per 100.
I received my 2023 Ken Surfs brush today. The handle reminds me of a chess piece and the synthetic brush is a size I like. I'll be giving it a test run tomorrow morning.

The blade you used is the Med Prep from Personna. Geofatboy did a video recently, where he did a blind test with the old blades (Personna brand) and also with the new brand Accutech blade. I love OUD but that comes with caution as the expensive OUD can be a wee bit strong like fill the room strong, so I don’t wear it often. Can we get a high karate shave ken?

@@HendrixClassics The Oud I’m referring to Roja Parfums “Amber Aoud” which is god tier imo. But it will fill the room, and I’ve had some ask me to not wear it lol. I’ve sample some middle eastern oud fragrances thou that were off putting, I guess it just depends. I’ll have to try yours out at some point, however, I’ve grown my beard out atm thou so maybe in few months, haven’t done it in 15 years, and I want to keep it for a bit 🙂
