  • My Honda Civic threw a P0122 code (throttle position sensor 'A' circuit low voltage). I investigated it and discovered that the tps had a dead spot right near the idle position. This video goes into detail of what the problem was and how I detected it.
The symptoms that accompanied the code were of course the check engine light and my car going into limp mode (loss of power and strange shifting)
See my other videos for info on replacing the sensor.

Would loose linkage from gas pedal result in throttle position sensor as well ?

Thanks for making the vid and uploading it. Informative explanation about the three wires' functions.
Could you explain what the issue was? A faulty TPS sensor? Or the Throttle Body was having problems? What did you do to fix it? Thanks a lot.

Apparently I never uploaded my follow up video! If I remember right the tps had a dead spot and that was what was throwing the the code. It was sporadic at first but then become consistent. The car would go into limp mode. After I changed out the tps it ran like a champ. I will see if I can get the other video edited and uploaded in the next week

Did you change TPS or whole throttle body?

@@voldemarz The dealer would have you purchase the whole kit and kaboodle. You can get a reputable aftermarket one from Autozone or RockAuto.com. There are a few vids that show removal, installation and adjustment here on UA-cam.

Limp mode is when the computer sees something is not right with all the functions of the engine and it will drop the output of the engine, fuel, ignition, etc.. To ensure that problem doesn't cause engine damage
