  • The JW Marriott Camelback Resort is one of the most unique Marriott properties/ hotels in the world situated on 125 beautifully maintained acres. The JW Camelback is made up of 453 casitas and suites, many of which are like little individual homes. This property is a Marriott family favorite and Mr. Bill Marriott celebrates his birthday here each year.

    Rating:
4/5 - Room (was it clean and comfortable)
4/5 - Inspiration: (how wowed was I by the exterior, lobby, room, and view)
4.5/5 - Service (how friendly was the staff across all departments)
4/5 - Value (how much do I personally value the product and how likely I am to return)
    Josh’s Score:16.5/20 =82.5% - Good!
    Pros:
    -Beautiful landscaping and grounds
-Some rooms feature a balcony ours was 1,000 square feet sundeck
    -One of the best breakfasts
-Provides a way to escape from the busyness of normal life
-Several outdoor heated pools to choose from
-On site spa and fitness center
    - Within driving distance to other restaurants or activities in the Scottsdale area
    Cons:
-Rooms, even though remodled, still feel a bit dated and not super luxurious
-Service is more sparce as many times you dont see any staff as you drive to your own casita or suite
-Staff forgot about a very special occasion despite, letting them know before hand, at checkin, and the day before.
    Pricing:
The average nightly price for a standard room: $400- $800. The average number of Marriott Bonvoy points required per night: 40,00 - 63,000
I recommend using points to stay at this property as it is usally very easy to get one penney per point of value. Especially with some nights spiking above $1k
MARRIOTT BONVOY ELITE MEMBER BENEFITS For Platinum, Titanium, Ambassador :
-Welcome gift of 1,000 bonus points or breakfast in restaurant for member plus one guest (I recommend breakfast)
-Space available upgrade to better view casita, or suite

Have you been to the JW Desert Ridge? We are planning a trip to AZ and between the Desert Ridge and the JW Camelback Inn! Thanks!

I have not stayed at Desert Ridge as when I was there remodel was not complete and rooms looked ugly. I did stop by and looked at Lobby was a bit on the older side and not a lot of staff. With the Remodel it definitely would be on my list if I go back. But nothing can beat the Camelback inn as it is so unique, has beautiful grounds, and is one of the Marriott’s family’s favorite property.

I wonder if it is because of the parking lots that make less nicer.

It could be, but the property was actually maintained really nice and all the roads were in excellent condition. Honestly for me the rooms, while nice, could have just been made much more luxurious. That would make me more happy. Excited for the Ritz Carlton Paradise Valley, which is just down the road a few minutes, opening later this year!
