    Most people don't get this: All the great dunkers MJ, Dominique, LBJ, etc have done some great dunks each season in their career. But if you make a mix from all their dunks in a season, you absolutely get bored. They do the same dunks over and over. But VC way of dunking was creative and exciting and very different every time he attacked the basket. That's why he is the GOAT in Dunking.

      @Jake Wheelie I am a big fan of him but I believe he had a good chance of winning one when he was playing for Magics, Mavs (both made the finals a year before he joined them, Mavs won the title) and even Nets (after Heats player all get injured in 08). He blew these incredible chances when he was a star because he didn't play well and it was his fault in my opinion. I always do criticize him for the way he played in those teams. It was disappointing. Now I just want to see him play. If he was more arrogant/ selfish and thirsty like Kobe he could accomplish much more.

      I had the pleasure watching all these games thanks to living close to Toronto and being a Raptor fan from the start.
      Vince peaked early and levelled off. You're seeing Vince when had speed and quickness which he started to lose after 2001 and with the knee injuries. He was still effective scorer but he wasnt taking it to the rim like he was here... During these early years with Tmac I really thought we could win it all and man the games were fun to watch. Even more fun when they won it all... Durant and Klay getting hurt kinda tarnished the series for me although dumbass Toronto bandwagob fans don't appreciate that.

    To the great Maxamillion, I salute you for all the hard work you've put in. Definitely one of the most underrated channel on youtube.
    For those old enough to remember Vince's Raptor years, the way he put Toronto on the map was just incredible. Having Tmac as a second wheel , to outvoting Kobe / MJ / AI in the all star game. If only he didn't have those injuries later down the road... . It was in 04-05 when you can see a drop in his vertical, 08-09 when he finally faded as a top tier player and athlete. Then came the tumbling years, though I distinctly remember the video Vince Carter- Fade Away.
    Now as the last year of VC's career , even though I have already shifted my focus to Lavine, it is still great to remember the man, the athlete, and also the veteran who does not actively chase championship rings.

      Thank you for the comment. As I’ve been editing this career compilations, I’m of course watching every highlight and game I have, ever. So I’m very familiar with how he played in every game. The biggest revelation for me was how good he was in 08 and 09. Once Kidd got traded, VC was back to 25-30ppg elite scoring. And the next year he shared the spotlight with Harris, but most of the year he was 23-24ppg 5rb and 5ast, definitely all star level. It’s very fitting he’s going to play 22 season, because his first 11 seasons (ending with 09) he was all star VC. The second half of his career (beginning with 10 with ORL) he was a very solid role player and then sixth man. An extremely unique career, unique shift of roles, and a unique player. Who else has been the most popular player in the world (2000-2004) and then shifted to a sixth man, and also lasted this long?
      But the biggest takeaway from all these videos i want viewers to have is that he’s more than just a freak athlete and amazing dunker. That is a fun and flashy part of his game, but he was a lethal and elite scorer. Fantastic shooter, crafty finisher. Don’t get caught up on how high he jumped, that ultimately should not be his legacy. His love for the game, his effective scoring and shooting, and being a good teammate is how I view him.

    • @40inchvintage
      @40inchvintage 5 років тому +4

      @@MaxaMillion711 I think I indeed wrote VC off a little too early in 08-09. But I think many of us might be guilty of that lol, what with Wade and Lebron practically being demigods that year and the Boston big three fresh off a championship run. I recall Jeff Van Gundy proclaiming on air that LBJ was the best with either Kobe or Wade 2nd, and few people disputed the statement.
      I always viewed Vince as an exceptionally good 3 point shooter for his era with several seasons cracking 40% in 3 point shooting. He also came into the league with post game and mid-range. The thing about his post game was that it was simple yet extremely effective, unlike Kobe who had more flashy and flexible moves ( probably compensating for smaller frame/ weaker core strength at the time) . On the flip side, I distinctly remember three-peat era Kobe evaluating Vince as someone always taking what the defense gives him, seldom challenging or overwhelming opponent's defense. Old MJ was also on record saying that Vince's defensive effort was suspect.
      However, I believe that's what made the transition into a role player much smoother than other superstars. By playing the more logical way and saving energy on D , he shifted gear into role player mode much more readily than other volume shooting superstars such as AI and TMac. Kobe can still keep his head above waters, even post- Achilles due to tremendous defense awareness and experience/ skill, being the hardest worker in the league with the deepest playoff runs.

      I distinctly remember one commentator, commenting on air during one of the raptors' games in the '99-00 season or in the following season, if they were ready to call Vince "heir apparent," due to his leaping ability and dunking prowess.
      There was a time during '98 up to early 2000's when I would constantly debate in my head on who my favourite player was between Kobe and Vince! 😆
      They were two of my favourite players during those times!
