Every year After I watched the new NBA dunk contest, I would come back and watch Vince Carter's dunk contest just to remind and appreciate how great of a dunker he is! Best dunker of all time!
No one had ever thought of jumping high, spinning in the air, doing a windmill and reverse dunk a ball before him. He really elevated this contest to a new level.
everybody commenting about how they remember this dunk or that dunk, you have *no* idea what this meant for Toronto at the time. Raps were only in their 5th season and struggling for an identity - this put Toronto on the NBA map.
It's so crazy hearing Kenny smith and stuff talk about did he just put his hand through the rim and all that. They never seen anything like that before now 16 years later people think that's just an average dunk. Vince really was a pioneer of dunking. Even after all the ones before him. He changed the game after that night. The standard is him from then on.
Vince the greatest ever and I even had a poll about it 😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🔥❤️……. you’ve got to be one of those young guys or something lol…. Vince jumped over 7 ft Guy…….#NuffSaid
What made Vince Carter dunks different? First off, he had the fluidity, the gracefulness, the overall motion, the way he spins when doing a 360° dunk. Next was the power - the sound of the rim when his wrist makes contact with it was unmistakable - he slams that ball down so hard. Third was the arm extension - a windmill dunk only works & looks the best when the arm is fully extended. You can't bend your arm, not even the slightest. And last was his athleticism - because he was so athletic, he was able to turn bad passes into works of art. He could reach for the ball & dunk it down whichever direction it was going to. Best dunker EVER, hands down.
This right here reminds me of my childhood memories and the times that I spent with my friend Cesco, playing NBA Live and watching the Slam Dunk Contest and especially Vince Carter. My brother passed away 10 years ago and every time I see this video I think about him and I reminisce those happy moments.
I remembered this year very well. The WORST year of my life. I was so financially strapped that I didn’t have television. I heard about this legendary dunk from all of my co workers and was wanting to see it so bad! Thank god those years are behind me.
I remember watching this live back in 2000. When he threw down the first dunk, it felt like a bolt of electricity went threw my body. I was 19 and watching with a group of friends. I don't think we've ever been more hyped over anything. Half man, half amazing!
The elbow inside the ring had me cracking up everytime i see it . it never gets boring seen the other players and the commentators laughing . it is just to funny .

1:10 They way Vince roared being still in the air moments after from finishing this beauty makes this shot so Iconic. NBA used it for like a decade
He really elevated this contest to a new level.
and gave birth to the innovation of dunks done by professional dunkers too.
i think it's a reverse 360 spin for a right handed dunker. it's really freaking hard to pull off
Best slam dunker ever! His creativity, difficulty, fluidity, air time, and elegance in the air can’t be matched by any NBA players.
Best dunker of all time had absolutely the craziest hang time everrr ✈️ Air Canada 🇨🇦
To me he's the greatest dunker ever! And personally makes my top 5 of all time. Just fun to watch man. Always idolized his dunking.
everybody commenting about how they remember this dunk or that dunk, you have *no* idea what this meant for Toronto at the time. Raps were only in their 5th season and struggling for an identity - this put Toronto on the NBA map.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 raps all dayy!!!
And they shunned him!! Disgrace
He was the hero of every 90's kod born in tdot
Best jerseys in NBA history with the raptor on it
@@sike1035 trust me, Carter was a hero for many, many more kids, kids from countries you didn't even know existed. Vince is a phenomenon.
kenny smith: "hey Michael, move over! somebody here is gonna get your best dunk, eveerrrrrr!!!!"
love it!
sends shiver down my spine
Viiiiinnnceeeee Carteeeeerrr...
It was 2000.. It was spectacular.. super awesome 👍👍
Everyone's reactions make these dunks more legendary
How’s here after Vince retired just reminisce his great moments.
I think you meant "who" but we here man, we here.
Half-man, half-amazing, full legend
@@Juju-bp6uy VinceSanity should have had a retirement game.
THIS IS STILL PHUCKING RIDICULOUS!!!!💯💯💯
Can't believe this was almost 16 years ago. Seriously, where did time go?
it flys by so quick I am like 34 now it's a speed rush

Carter is definitely one of the best dunkers in history. Top 5 for sure.
Vince the greatest ever and I even had a poll about it 😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🔥❤️……. you’ve got to be one of those young guys or something lol….
Vince jumped over 7 ft Guy…….#NuffSaid
#1 PERIOD
He’s so powerful and so smooth.
Michael Jordan and Vince Carter greatest dunk contests ever. That zach lavine and Aaron Gordon showdown was legendary too.
Facts
Thank you for all of the amazing highlights, Vince! Have a fantastic retirement!
I'd actually be interested in seeing what Shaq and KG's turn-of-the-millennium camcorder footage looks like 😂
🤣🤣True!
I was thinking the same thing.😂
He is and will always be the best dunker in NBA history. 😍😍 #VinceCarter #HalfManHalfAmazing
Vince is just a special dunker
He's legendary bro
Greatest dunk contest performance ever. Perfect 10's on grace, power and creativity.
This right here reminds me of my childhood memories and the times that I spent with my friend Cesco, playing NBA Live and watching the Slam Dunk Contest and especially Vince Carter.
My brother passed away 10 years ago and every time I see this video I think about him and I reminisce those happy moments.
Watching this after the 2022 contest is like washing out your mouth after drinking something nasty
😂😂😂 Exactly!!! That was Garbage!
It's called an eyebleach, i did the same and watch the 2016 instead. LoL
I remembered this year very well. The WORST year of my life. I was so financially strapped that I didn’t have television. I heard about this legendary dunk from all of my co workers and was wanting to see it so bad! Thank god those years are behind me.
Who’s here after ARON GORDON LOST HIS SECOND “DUNK CONTEST”
Who's here cuz that contest the other night was pure trash!
He didnt lose either of those dunk contests, he got JOBBED
Fuck all y’all with this who here after bullshit
Markel Scott sure thing baby girl
3rd actually
I remember watching this live back in 2000. When he threw down the first dunk, it felt like a bolt of electricity went threw my body. I was 19 and watching with a group of friends. I don't think we've ever been more hyped over anything. Half man, half amazing!
My favorite moment is when Kenny said "timeout timeout can I take a timeout" that's how you know you're doing something People never seen before
The most satisfying performance in Slam Dunk Contest history!!!
The elbow inside the ring had me cracking up everytime i see it . it never gets boring seen the other players and the commentators laughing . it is just to funny .
