There is a learning curve but as you become more familiar with it it becomes much easier. The Egg Forum is a great resource for everything Green Egg. Always use lump charcoal and never use lighter fluid in your egg. Design and build a table to set it in and start cooking. It will take your outdoor cooking to another level. Taking nothing away from the Weber, we have got 3 Webers and love them too! @@GuitarsAndSynths
Can it have direct and indirect heating sections. Thats nice about charcoal grill is I can heat indirect and sear just by moving. The egg, from what I see, has a few steps involved to change between direct and indirect and back.
After being a Big Green Egg Owner and a Target pellet, I would say that the absolute best grill I ever used was an upright 55 gallon drum that I spent a total of $350 on. All brass fittings and tons of stainless steel kept the temp better than any grill I had owned (225 for 15 hours). Firebrick bottom and lots of love.
Considering all the other options out there that perform the same with equal quality construction, the obvious answer is a resounding "NO!" Unless you are bought and paid for.
My next video is a deep dive in comparison to other Kamado style grills where I share all of pros and cons of all the kamado style grills. However, I will say that while there are many great options in Kamado style grills in the Kamado Joe and Primo, BGE has the most engaged community of any other (Kamado) grill company I have seen. Only a company like Traeger has that same kind of brand loyalty and engagement in my opinion. But for the person who only cares about the equipment, there are plenty of great options out there these days.
Team red over here but all things considered - Kamado style grills are pretty good at most styles of cooking but doesn't really master any of them except for direct heat. That being said I use mine mostly in the winter because it has amazing heat retention. Cheers Robyn.
My next video is a review of all three of the big ones and I think they are all very competent! I'd have to say I think they do a pretty good job for smoking too. I definitely appreciate the heat retention and the fact that they have minimal parts to break, unlike a pellet smoker! lol. Thanks for your feedback!
How awesome! I have a complete guide to getting started on the egg on GRILLGIRL.com if you need help grillgirl.com/2022/05/everything-big-green-egg-series-learn-how-to-use-your-bge-like-a-pro/
This is BGE’s acacia table, I recommend adding a coat of varnish so it doesn’t stain. JJ George also makes great tables for Kamado style grills- I’ve put mine through a lot of Florida Sun and weather and it still looks good considering I’m not that great at covering my grills!
Yes, it is 100% worth it, but don't think you're going to be a grill master right away. There is learning curve to master the BGE, once you have an understanding and some experience, you will create some AMAZING food on your BGE. I have 3, the Mini Max, Medium and the XL BGE, all of them are amazing and serve different purposes. Just so your not totally surprised, it is an expensive hobby to get into, but 100% worth it.
I 💯agree with you !! It’s hard to deny that the food off the egg taste amazing and it is still my go-to grill and I jace like 20 grills in my backyard. 🙌
That is a loaded question, it is almost like asking which is your favorite child. Since we do entertain groups up to 12 people at a time, I guess I would keep the XL, however since I have the others, they are usually going at the same time with different foods. The XL was also my first BGE. I hope this info was helpful.@@AsTheWheelsTurn
Not a review, just a commercial for the egg
Literally the worst review and offered zero information.
As a long time BGE owner the answer is absolutely YES!
how hard are they to learn to use coming from traditional weber bbq?

great info! I appreciate grills with ZERO technology these days. I hate any grill that has technology built in. Just give me wood and fire!!

Awesome review... Big Green Egg for Xmas 2024! 😊
Woo hoo! Hope Santa brings you coal too 😉
Kamado Chinese? Japanese!
My bad, Japanese!! Thanks for the correction!
Americans getting basic info involving other countries’ cultures wrong 🤦♂️🤣🤷♂️
Chinese…Japanese…same thing 😂 (I’m Chinese)
I do love the whole setup tho, that table 😮😮

Definitely
Who cares about all the clubs and festivals. This was a waste. Too much social and nothing about the product.
Come on that's not an honest review, it's a commercial.
Who wants it the last long they get gross after four or five years just replace it get another one
People are different, I bought 7 years ago a 90 years old cast iron pan and it will stay in the family.
Have you thought of maybe cleaning it 😂😂😂
BBQ grilling is not really a lifestyle decision. Its weird that you would say something like that.
Not lifestyle like that, just do you want to be quick then go gas or pellet, do you like using wood and coal then look at those options.
If it were a man making that statement you probably would not have made this comment.
@@NaomiDawnRN I’m sorry I don’t understand and what you mean?
Grilling is a lifestyle, some people like to go out to eat all the time and some people like to grill all the time.
Kamado joe much better
Big Greek egg holds heat better than the Joe . Especially important for low and slow fuel consumption
This was a waste of my time
Writing the comment is a waste of more time. You have too much time to waste
