    The big green egg is the best thing I’ve ever bought hands down and I’ve used it to cook everything. Bought it new and it was worth every penny

    One thing I like about the big green egg is that I live in Minnesota and It can get as low as -20° and windy outside. The BGE still maintains its temperature. I can’t use my gas grill In those extremes because it won’t warm up when he gets that cold. Well a gas grill will but it better be just a couple burgers if you’re trying to do a slow and low cook for 6 to 12 hours it’s never gonna happen. That’s why I like the big green egg.

    I bought a large Egg from my neighbor when he got divorced. The Egg, table, and a bunch of accessories for only 400 bucks. Great deal. Now I cook on it 3-4 times a week year round here in N Ga.

    Had Mine since 2005 and by far the best investment I've ever made. I keep it old school with no electronic temp controls. Biggest miss conception is the time it takes to get a fire started. I can be grilling burgers in 15 minutes from first light with a starter cube, no torches or electric starters. Get used 3-4 times a week. Great video!!

    Bought a large six years ago. I use it 3 to 4 times a week. My fire basket cracked from normal use and I took a picture of it and went back to the Ace Hardware store where I bought it and showed them the pic. They gave me a new one, no questions asked. I love my Green Egg! They aren't cheap but they last forever.

    Life time warranty for everything except the seal.. 11 years with a BGE XL.. 6 Pork Butts at a time, 4 Briskets for the next smoke. Love your video!

    We have a vintage Imperial Kamado from Japan. I got it twenty-seven years ago. Great smoker. I build smokers from steel, I line them with ceramic fire brick. My latest was created from old steel commercial electrical enclosures. It is a beast. It out cooks my Kamado. The next creation will be a separate firebox that feeds heat & smoke thru the draft controller of the kamado. No fire in the kamado just heat. I have also tried an electric hot plate in the kamado, an Alton Brown Good Eats trick.

    Hello Jack
    I went for the Kamado Joe. Loved it, for a while. Still use it on occasion, but since I bought a Pitt Barrell cooker it seems easier to use, at least to me.
    Still burn more charcoal than needed, but you just have to load it and cook. There isn't any adjusting of the vents (other than setting the bottom vent for the altitude of your location, that's a one time thing). Other than that, done deal!

    Two things to ask you need to ask Santa for Christmas! First a charcoal basket.... makes cleaning so much easier and reduces charcoal consumption... And you need a control system... I use CyberQ but there are many on the market... a must have for low n slow. Set and forget or if you have run an errand and you need to make a adjustment its done in a heart beat on our phone... We’ve had an XL for 8 years and love it. Egg on! Excellent piece on the Egg...

    +1 on the Craigslist opportunities. I have seen BGE XL 2 yrs old in almost new shape for 750. We use a medium about twice a month...Thanksgiving Turkey, butts, ribs ect. We have found a great combo for the egg is a Weber 22 Kettle classic for burgers, steaks beer can chickens, ect...using the same lump. I refuse to use gas or brickettes...lump is the only way to cook outside!

    I purchased my BGE over 14 years ago. Can't begin to tell you how many times I have used it and still have all the parts it came from. I did break one of the legs on the plate setter but JB weld took care of that.The cost of my BGE at the time was $800. Still expensive back then. BGE hands down.

    I have a 1947 cast iron Cook n Kettle Sr and Jr. I picked up for $40. Works pretty much the same way only I use hard wood charcoal we make. I only use it on special occasions. My mom has Primo version of the egg and she loves it.

    I love mine. As long as your air holes are clean you can get it to 600-700 degrees for a couple steaks in 15 minutes then shut it down right after. I use fire starters to start it up.

    I would love to own one of the original longhorn reverse flow smoker's before they got bought out a few years ago. The metal was crazy thick! No their cheap and rust out in couple of years

    really like ya'lls' cookout/party shack👍🏻👍🏻Also, the one I have is a Primo Oval XL. Basically the same thing as yours but oval shaped. I chose it for two reasons. I like the oval shape better for cooking ribs and it's made in the USA. However, I really like the Green Eggs too and wouldn't hesitate to buy one of them as well.

    I have 6 cookers. My favorite is the Bronco barrel cooker. I don’t have a BGE but I’ve got a Acorn that produces great food

    You guys are cool as shit. I've had my egg for a few years now. Love it. Won it in a raffle. Tip to light it faster: If You can angle your fan to blow into the bottom vent with your top vent open. It'll only take a couple minutes

    I like my Akorn. It lives on my carport and rolls out into the driveway easily. I know it won’t last as long, but just dipping the toe into Komodo style grilling/smoking/baking/barbecuing and enjoying the process. It stays covered to keep the salt spray off.

      I loved my acorn and acorn Jr for 8 years. It is finally wearing out. For my 50th birthday my wife and kids bought me the xl big green. I can't wait to use it for many years to come!

    I talked to a guy at the wharf in Gulf Shores who is sponsored by Primo Grills and he told me that big green eggs are way better. He said they will last forever. I live in an apartment so I had to sell mine but I’m buying another as soon as I buy a house.

    Can I offer a tip on cooking pizza (min 9:33). Let that pizza stone heat up and then throw the pizza on it. If you don't have a pizza peel or the skill to slide the pie off you can get a pizza screen. It will be an amazing crispy pie!

    My large takes like 20 minutes to get to 400. I think my oven may actually be slower than that. I gotta time it one day. I fired mine up a couple days ago to cook three hot dogs 😎Used to use a decent gas grill till it broke down too much. I’ll NEVER use a gas grill again. Prolly going to get the mini for those Tuesday nights. Good video man. Thanks

    I would definitely buy new. If you purchase through an authorized retailer it comes with a lifetime warranty on all parts. If any ceramic components crack they replace for free. I bought mine that was used in a retailer demo and it was discounted $150.00!

    Wig in one week of having it I gave away the gas grill. Love doing pizza in it as well

    Looked at them but decided on the Pit Boss pellet grill. Check
    It out next time you go to Lowe's. It beats the Green Egg IMHO.

    To clean it consider getting a cheap vacuum from Lowes or Home Depot and you can vacuum it out I do that with my smoker grill

    Too much commitment - I'll stick with my propane. Most of the time it's just me and my small dog, if I entertained I would still probably just get a nicer grill and not an egg. But I have access to a competition size smoker, so that makes a big difference. Great review, Jack!

      White Thunder BBQ this! Had my Weber since ‘93 and still going. Weber kettles are well built and great for the summer and fall but comparing them to a Egg is like comparing a sedan to a pickup.

    The Bid Green Egg (BGE) it is 100% worth it, but don't think you're going to be a grill master right away. There is learning curve to master the BGE, once you have an understanding and some experience, you will create some AMAZING food on your BGE. I have 3, the Mini Max, Medium and the XL BGE, all of them are amazing and serve different purposes, the medium heats hp faster than the XL and the mini heat up faster than the medium, so for just some quick cooks I will use the medium or mini. Just so your not totally surprised, it is an expensive hobby to get into, but 100% worth it.

    I disagree that you need a propane grill for something quick. Get a basic Weber kettle grill. Get the charcoal going first then prep your meat and get those sides going. Then come out and sear that meat hot n fast and be done with it. We've had the same Weber kettle for over 12 years outside at the lake. They kettle lasts forever, and you can replace the grill parts as needed. For longer cooks I use my kamado grill, for short hot n fast we use the Weber, and you'll never have to use gas or propane again! : )

    I love my BGE large. Use it at least once a week in spring/summer/fall. Your PROs by far out weigh your CONs (!)

    We have a small family of three but often feed my parents. I was going to get the XL. Do you think that is too much for 5 people.
    I heard some friends complain that they should have gotten the XL when they purchased the L.

    We live in NC and I cook 5+ days a week year-round on the grill. I purchased a Big Joe 2.5 years ago. First cook was ribeye steaks and my wife asked me to give the stainless steel gas grill away because she didn't want anything cooked on the gas grill again. I found a guy that needed a grill, gave him a very nice stainless grill and tanks. When we have family or friends come stay at the beach for a couple days, we ask where they want to go for dinner and every time is the same answer, they want me to cook on the Big Joe. I cook quick fish meals to 12 hour cooks with pork butts on that grill.
    FYI - one reason your charcoal cost is high is because of the wood you are using and the amount. I tried the Cowboy brand, it is a faster burning wood, it doesn't last near as long as some other lump charcoal.

    you don't have to fill it up every time you cook. Also re-light what did not burn on the previous cook. not expensive and NO chemicals

    I'm about to pick one up for 250$ with all the bells and whistles. I was debating on it for a while because I already have a pellet grill and a blackstone but for the price I think it's a no brainer

    I have one and you can keep the temps steady for hours. However, my wife doesn't like the food it produces; she likes the charcoal briquet flavor which this egg does not produce. I wish you could add charcoal briquettes but the manufacture strongly suggest not to do so. The quality of the materials is outstanding.

    Hey battle long time no hear. I always love watching your vlogs. I was given one of those eggs sometime last year and for what I cook and the amount it's just not cost effective. Now if you're scaled down just cooking for a small group of 15 or less it's great. But when I cook its 3 or more briskets 6 racks of ribs and tons of sausage and yard bird.     You would have better results with pizza if you let the ceramic plates/pizza stones get to temp on the egg prior to putting the pizza on them. Let them acclimate to temp with the egg then let them heat at that temp for 45 minutes to an hour then dust them with cornmeal and add your pizza

    I have the Barrel House Cooker. It is easier to move around and less expensive to operate. It is great for long smoking meats. Got a cheaper Home Depot grill for the burgers and such. Get back to fishing, and more Samcam plz.

    I have a giant Oklahoma Joe that my friend talked me into buying, he used it ONCE and I have never used it since. Grilling is annoying, I live alone, don't have many friends, and if I want to grill privately, I'll just use my Cuisenart electric Grill/Griddle/Panini Press thing. So much easier to clean. That thing was expensive. Has the smoker, griller and stove built in, was like $600 USD.

    Kamado grills cook and smoke pretty much all the same. Size and features make the difference. BGE is the market leader, because they market more and better, not because their product is better. Check out a Blaze kamado...cast aluminum... indestructible, almost no assembly..no gaskets, 20 inch cook area with an additional lower level of 18 inches. The ash removal is better and the stainless grates are much heavier. A little more expensive but built better and cooks the same...holds temp great. Cooking with mine for more than 2 years. Gene

    No lifetime warranty if you buy it used. It's easily worth the money for a new one. It's not if it cracks but when it cracks. The base alone is almost $500 for a replacement. Not really worth the gamble buying used. The initial price of a new one might look cheap after buying part by part. I've owned mine for 10 years.
    The warranty is what makes this grill/smoker value.

      I was so disappointed at the minimal space inside.
      Don’t waste your money. No better than any other charcoal grill and because of rounded “egg” shape you can’t even put two racks of ribs in it unless you want them directly over coals. Because lid comes down in decreasing radius. Check measurements vs length of rack of ribs at store. That will tell you.

    In my view, - the price of the Big Green Egg is a Rip Off in the UK.
    Lidl stores in Britain sell a near identical item, with a different badge on it for a third of the price of the Big Green Egg.
    Aldi also do their own equivalent item for approx same price as Lidl.
    Both a top quality.
    TBH, ythey are probably all made by the same Chinese factory...

    I got a great deal big green egg an stand on wheels for a lil under 600 .. had it abt 7 yrs now.. was a bitch to put together by myself an move

    A rack of ribs is 16-18 inches long. The lid is a radius cutting down on your vertical space. So you really can’t put as many ribs in as they tell. Even with their extra$ (not included ) rib rack.
    Do so measurements and Home work b4 you drop a chunk on these. I wish I had. I wouldn’t own again as a gift.
