Today on BikeRide.com reviews we are looking at the Magicycle Deer SUV. It’s a big bike, and its manufacturer Magicycle has some even bigger claims to make about it. Apparently inspired by the fusion of step-thru commuter bikes, trekking e-bikes, and a full-suspension e-bike the Deer tries to bring something for everyone.
The bike creators claim it will “dominate any mountain bike trail”, be an “E-Bike SUV ready for long-range rides" and "give a comfortable and smooth ride over bumpy terrain, even with cargo."
Well, I hope the Deer SUV can make some magic happen because it's going to take more than a few tricks to make those claims come true. Let's put the Magicycle Deer up to the test and see what's the first claim to disappear in a puff of smoke.

I live in the Netherlands and see a lot of "reviews" just for fun, but you are ,I think, the first one who gave a real honest review, especially the technical details.
It's still a nice bike for fun and recreational riding but not for intense use.
Some branches like Himmyway are also active in Europe. and most important the prices of these bikes are very much lower than European branches.
China is flooding the world with affordable but fun to ride bikes.👍
Thank you! Very happy to hear the reviews are useful; we want to provide the best info we can, good and bad, for all the bikes! It's important, especially with the amount of bikes purchased online without any chance for a test ride.
Hands down the best review I have ever seen. I have been riding dirt bikes for years. Having a family and
a daughter who of course wanted a horse, we have over 10 acres Dad That's me happily agreed. She's
now 34 and Dad that's me is still out mucking everyday, feeding and water every day. Plus the cost of
a farrier for their feet, vet bills etc. I can't get rid of them they are like really big pets but I have discovered
one thing horse trails. Some are so peaceful and very easy, others are extreme and as I found out ( I purchased
a Deer a month ago ) the Deer doesn't work so well. Getting down to business I have already discovered a
number of problems which you pointed out. First the weight Yup It's a Heavy bike, and Yup you most
definitely would need help putting the bike in a rack. 2nd you pointed out the pivot points and wobble. A
good friend and I go all over the town in New England we live in, and him going down a very large hill no
hands discovered the wobble in the rear end, He was able to to lose it but not by much. 3rd he's 6' and
had the same problem. he's going to be getting a taller seat post which wont be a problem. I have the
use of 2 Lectric 2.0s so we switch. For my needs as I'm 70 is a full suspension E Bike that as you put it
can do a lot of things. Not Extreme trails I did try and I did make it only once landing in a relatively soft
dirt. 4th it's not a true mountain bike it's way to heavy and as you said having the motor in the back
does throw off the geometry. It can do a lot more then most E bike without a full suspension ( Just
not any serious trails. ) Now the good things its beautifully built, the fit and finish are wonderful. it's
got lots of power, and I really like the fact that you have so many options with setting up your power.
this is a great feature. And with the 20 AH battery now using in around town, we have a lot of very large
hills in Pas 2 and 3 I can get say 40 plus miles. I haven't tried to run it really down completely but around
town on battery only my guess 35 miles. I will let you no when I feel like rolling the dice ( peddling that
thing without power Oh Joy ) and running it completely down. Great honest review I look forward to
more from you...
Thanks so much for the detailed comment! I am very glad that my experience is similar to yours, and I agree with all your points. The Deer has some great style, power, and comfort on lots of terrain! I had a blast testing it But like anything it has its drawbacks. It's always tough to bring up the cons, but again I am happy to hear you have experienced them as well, so they are relevant, and are still enjoying the bike in the conditions it operates best. We aim to point out the good and bad so users will know as much as possible before purchasing. The most important part of buying a new bike is that you love the ride!
Oo
Or if
It has arrived as of 8/5/23. I'm a heavyweight in the wrong way at 330lbs; is why I purchased. Just under 6'4", a little perturbed at what you're saying about seat to ground height and comfort. It said up to 6ft 8in; can you say if there's another seat post you can purchase to make it higher , more comfortable for taller riders. Mostly , I'm on flat streets commuter, delivery type use. ! Thank you for reviewing, of course helps. Paul
It's a single pivot swingarm! both wheels were loosing contact on every hit. Biktrix said they have the patent to the suspension design lol
Awesome video with tons of useful info on an E-bike that i never thought before I could use but now think maybe could. Thank you
Glad it helped!
As always, the review and the cons is great insight. Love this channel
Thanks so much! We are really glad that the reviews are helpful that's what we hoped!
Absolutely the best ebike review I have ever seen.
Thanks! We love bringing you the best quality reviews possible!
You never mentioned the smaller 20" tire model of the deer. Also... it's got cruise control.
Good note here; thanks for pointing this out to viewers! Have you had a chance to try the 20" wheel model?
Best review I've seen abour this bike. Though, a nearly 68 it might suit my needs. It will be either the Deer or the Rize RX Pro.
Thanks! Right off the bat, I will tell you the 1000W Bafang mid-drive on the Rize RX pro will be much better than the 750 Hub motor on the Deer. It will also feature a torque sensor. I have used that motor on another bike (the QuietKat Jeep Rubicon) and it is powerful and pleasant to use.
So I would be leaning towards that motor over the 750W hub, I cannot comment on other aspects of the two, as I have not had a chance to use the Rize.
Hopefully, that helps. Let me know what you choose, and how you like it! I hope to get a Rize RX Pro to test soon (hint hint Rize if you are listening!)
Good review!!
Thanks!
Sept23: Excellent review. Very thurough; unbiased perspective. Thanx. Retired in Sacto
Thank you!
Excellent review
Thank you!
Perfect
Thanks!
Make sure you read and fully understand the warranty, what's covered and what they won't cover. After 30 days you the customer have to pay the shiping for any failed part and they go by the size and the weight of the part. For instance, my display malfunctioned at 10 months and its costing $20 shipping for a refurbed display, it has to be shipped from China so who knows when i will get it
Very good note, sorry to hear you are having those issues! How is the rest of the bike holding up for you and how many miles have you put on the unit if you don't mind saying?
I was very interested to buy this ebike. I have done a lot research about it, until I read your comment. Thank you for pointing out the issue you had and I am surprised that the display was made in China. It brings me the concern of the quality of it. Chinese suppliers know very well how to build multi functional products to catch the market needs like the full suspension ebike this one. But when talk about quality, it always down. It is shame that we can’t avoid the product made in China. I will keep searching if any other part of this e-bike are made in China with quality concerns
I dont know how many miles are on it because the odometer quit working shortly after I bought it Id guess hundreds of miles and after 15 months everything else seems to be holding up @@BikeRidecom
Other than the odometer the bike has been holding up well but its riding mostly on pavement never in the rain. Im 62 I've had it 15 months now. This bike does not have full suspension. It has front shocks only. But I bought a suspension seat post from magicycle it took over 6 weeks to get it but it works well and I also put handle bar risers on it @@FJT2024
You mentioned the bike likes to slide when the trails get wet.. Does that also include just paved or muddy paths?
The sliding was more due to the tread on the tires and the bikes weight in slippery trail conditions, so mud yes. On pavement, I found the weight of the bike was helpful for traction and did not notice the wheels spinning or slipping on pavement at all.
what is the P gear for? and can i power this up maybe 10 steps?
The P gear is a "park" and provides no power to the throttle or pedal assist. The 0 on the other hand still provides throttle power but no pedal assist. As for whether you could power this up 10 stairs, we have not tested this. The motor is powerful, and offers reasonable torque, so assuming you could maintain enough velocity and have the correct tire pressure for grip but no rim damage It may be possible. The bike is heavy and it will come down to rider ability and speed. Regardless please be carful if attempting anything like this and personally I would not recommend it. I would hate to see anyone getting this bike flipped onto them, at 95lb you could be badly hurt.
You could walk this up the stairs with the walk mode, or the throttle for assistance though.
Where to mount water bottle cage on this one ?
Yes thats going to be a tough one! The bike has no attachment points for a bottle cage, so you will need something that can strap to the frame or the handlebars.
Would the bike be a good fit for a 6' person?
The bike was a good fit for me at 6' tall and felt comfortable
How much is
