For those who have FinalCut 10.5.1 i have the solution is: 1.Open the title plugin file in motion, with the right button on the thumb "open in motion". 2. In Motion, a window will open informing that some files have been lost: separator1, separator2, separator3,... just delete them in the layers of motion and save the file as original. 3. Restarting the Final Cut the and plugin works. Thanks!

You’ll need to open the file in Motion and in the Project Browser you can delete the separators.

Edit: If you have FCPX ver 10.5, you will need to change the OZML version to 5.11 and the Display Version to 5.5.

@@Brad_West fcpx version 10.4.7 and pixel film studios Projection. Its a generator
And this version of projection made in older version of motion
Ok, it might be that some of the effects used in Motion to create the generator aren't backwards compatible and if that's the case, there isn't anything we can do. But my Pixel Films Generator pack that I have is dated back further than my current version of FCPX (10.4.6), so maybe try going to an earlier version on the compatibility chart. My generator shows an OZML version of 5.7 and a Display Version of 5.2.1. Let me know if that works 😊

For those of you who have updated fcp and operating system and still have the problem
I fixed it by downloading the Minstaller app on the minstaller website, then i told the app to repair itself on the my products page
Then it works

I’ve never heard of that plugin before but I see it’s an FxFactory plugin so I would recommend reaching out to their support team. They should be able to help you to solve the problem 😄👍🏼

Not so clear for me, I can't figure out which effect is being used on the clip to find the plug-in error.
You can turn all the effects off and turn them on one by one to see which one it is.

thanks for this, unfortunately, after changing the ozml and display version to 10.5 fcpx settings, I'm still getting the same orange error. It's a tracking plugin from pixel. Any suggestions ?
I've spoken to a few other people with similar issues with Pixel Film Studios plugins. One of them spoke to the support team and was told that PFS will be releasing updates for their plugins in a few days time.
My advice would be to reach out to their support team to get the information from them first hand. Maybe they can give you a more accurate ETA for your specific plugin. I hope that helps! 😊

Since I upgraded the last Big Sur update a lot of my installed transitions and generators are not working and this fix doesn't fix it either. Any other advice?
I would recommend trying pFixer which is a free app. (Google “pFixer FCPX” and it should be the first link).
If that doesn't work, try to contact the plugin developer to see if they have installers that are compatible with your FCP version and Big Sur. Hope that helps! 😊🤞🏼

If you’re on macOS 10.15.7 and FCPX is running 10.5.2. I had to create a Plug-Ins and FxPlug folder. Check to see if you have it by going to Macintosh > Library > Plug-Ins > FxPlug ...Soon as I created the folders and reinstalled the plugins on my macOS my plugins worked. Nothing else worked for me except this method. If you didnt have the folders created that is why your plugins didnt install correctly. After three days of frustration I’m finally able to use my plugins 🙏🏽👍🏽

Is there a chart that has the numbers needed for the more recent version on final cut pro ? I have version 10.5.1
Hi Stephanie. Unfortunately that is the only place online where I’ve seen that chart and I’m not sure who updates it. I’m hoping that they post an update soon for version 10.5.1. 🤞🏼
If you’re struggling to find the right version to try in the text editor, maybe try using pFixer. It’s an app that apparently makes that edit automatically. If you google “pFixer FCPX” it should be the first result. And it’s free 😊

can you not use it on a trial version of Final Cut Pro, as I have the 10.5.3 version and it doesn't have coding for that software? just curious as to if you can help me?

@@dominicpyrros5623 literally found a way to make it work it was installed with tabs open and a usb so restart your computer before you reinstall it and then you load it up it should work
Unfortunately the owner of that website hasn't updated the chart for 10.5.3 but this method should work for a trial version. If you’re still having issues, I would recommend trying pFixer which is a free app. (Google “pFixer FCPX” and it should be the first link).
If that doesn't work, try to contact the plugin developer to see when they are releasing updates that will be compatible with 10.5.3. Hope that helps! 😊🤞🏼

I'm running FCPX 10.4.9 / Motion 5.4.6 and getting the red screen with the ''T'' instead of the one you show on your video. When opening the title on Motion it says the certain generator are missing (Separator 1,2,3,4) but have not found a way around fixing that. At first I've tried your suggestion, and realized that the error I'm getting is different. I know I'm doing something wrong but your video is the first I find that is clear and closest to my problem. Apologies for the long comment but thought you might be able to help. Good luck and keep up the great content!.

Maybe try the steps in the video again but pretend you have FCPX version 10.4.6 and try the OZML and Display versions for 10.4.6 to see if that helps. BE VERY CAFEFUL with the fixer app. I accidentally ran it for all the plugins because the new version was not clear and it RUINED my FCPX. Nothing is working right even after deleting all plugins, deleting FCPX and reinstalling. I am at a complete Loss now.
Oh no! Do you have a backup you can restore from? Maybe try trashing FCPX preferences and reboot? Or delete all the plugins first and then reinstall FCPX. Let me know if any of that works.

I'm running 10.6.1 and I input the Motion 5.6 and OXML 5.13 into the text edit as you said. Saved it, restarted FCP still red box. I'm using some pixel film studio plugins and honestly, they worked for one day. They have never worked since. I've gone through their troubleshooting which included uninstalling and then reinstalling with all external hard drives ejected and nothing has worked. It's very frustrating. Thanks for this vid though. It was at least something new I could try and very succinct and well made!
I’ve found that this fix doesn’t always work for PFS plugins. I would double check on the product page on PFS website to make sure the plugin is compatible with 10.6.1. Have you reached out to their support team?

Where can I find the compatibility chart? I had this error happen to me with the color finale plug-in after upgrading my Mac software. I see my clips on the timeline but the adjustment layer shows up as a red error.
The link to the compatibility chart is in the description of this video. It's possible though, that color finale is not yet compatible with the latest version of FCPX and might not work, even if you attempt this fix. My advice would be to check their website or reach out to their support team to find out if their plugin works with 10.5 yet. You might need to get an updated version of the plugin to get it to work. Best of luck!

Thanks for the video!! These were great tips but I tried the tips from your video and others offering tips to this very irritating issue. I have a new Apple Studio Mac with a M1 chip in it and the only way I could get any of my many downloaded Pixel Film Studio plugins to work was to open FCPX is in Rosetta 2. When I did "ALL" my plugins started working again. Thanks again!!
Yeah Pixel Film Studios plugins don't seem to respond well to these steps to fix plugins. Interesting to know that it worked using Rosetta.
I have the same problem with mtuber2 and some other mfvx title. Unfortunately, this solution didn't help. FCPX 10.5, Motion 5.5.
I would contact MotionVFX to see when they will be releasing compatible updates for those plugins. I'm sure that most plugin developers will be releasing updates to their plugins in the near future.
@@Brad_West I have exactly the same problem with mtuber2 in fcp 10.5. I painstakingly changed all the numbers of the titles to 5.5 and 5.11 from the chart in the text editor but it still didn't work. Not to worry.

When you open the plug-in in your text editor, you’ll want to change it at the top. Your OZML version should be 5.11 and your Display Version should be 5.5. Let me know if that works 😊

You could try opening the text editor app and then heading to File > Open and then select the title/plugin that is giving you trouble.

Slightly different issue - My entire "Keying" effect category is missing in the FCP 10.6.1 effects panel. Did not have this issue before upgrading to Big Sur. Any ideas on how to restore it?
That’s a weird one. Sometimes adding the suffix “.localized” to the folders in the Motion Templates folder solves missing plugin issues. Have a read in this thread and someone explains exactly how to do it here: discussions.apple.com/thread/8166697 Let me know if that works.

I have version 10.6.1 I change my setting using apple text editor in moef file to ozml to 5.13 and display to 5.6. and restart, and still when my pointer comes over the effects icon FCPX Face Tracker it goes red. I did save my folder. I am new to Pixel effects, is there suppose to be a Title option for Pixel Film in that selector box for FACE, because I don't have one. I am not sure how Face Tracker works, I did use Surface, and Tracker M1 and they work. My 2017 iMac Retina 5k, 27" I am wondering if it is too old period.

How can you make sure you're opening the file up as a simple text file & not the rtf file?
It doesn't matter whether it's a simple text file or rtf, as long as you open with a text editor app, it will keep the format the same when you hit save. 😄👍🏼

Hi I have FCPX 10.6.3 and I tried this method but it still shows the red error with 2 screen image. I tried opening the same effect (FCPX Stabilizer 2.0) in Motion, and it says I'm missing filters and a generator. The filters that are missing are RZ, P&S, Kaleidotile, PFS Auto Tracker. The generator that's missing is PFSInstruction_Local. Do you have an idea of what's going on with this effect? Or is the newest update of FCPX 10.6.3 have some bugs and issues with running these effects? Thank you!
This method doesn’t seem to work with Pixel Film Studios plugins. I think it has to do with the way their plugins are made. Have you tried reaching out to the PFS support team?

I’ve noticed on the Pixel Film Studios website that not all of their plugins are compatible with the new M1 chip. I would reach out to them to find out when they will be releasing M1 compatible versions of the plugins you have 😊
This does not seem to work on my computer (2021 Apple M1 Pro, OS Sonoma 14.1.2) and/or version of FCPX (10.7). The Motion Templates folder is empty, and there seem to be no .moef, .motn, .moti or .motr files on the computer - yet all effects work except the CoreMelt ones I installed today, which give the red screen, and is the reason why I am looking at this video... Any thoughts much appreciated!
If the folder is empty, then the files might be located inside the FCP app. Will created a video that talks about that if you want to try his method: ua-cam.com/video/M8pm62ssstc/v-deo.html
I just did it. But FCPX says:
The plug-in “FxFactoryFxGenerator_AB20D0330B3C463C89C0DCE2A87DA44F” is not responding. This plug-in will be disabled.
Can anyone please help?

That’s strange. Might sound like a silly suggestion, but did you try a fresh install of the plugin?

I have Color Finale 2 which I’m running on 10.5.1. You might need to contact Color Finale support for assistance.
Did not work for me either I'm currently running 10.4.10. I was trying to fix my motion vfx prism. But I really appreciate your effort! More power!
If you’re running the latest version of FCPX it should work. My best suggestion is to try back date it further. Maybe use the OZML and Display version from the chart as if you were using FCPX 10.4.6 maybe. If that doesn’t work, reach out to MotionVFX’s support team. Let me know if backdating it works for you? 😊

I updated my final cut app and all my plug in (overlays,luts,adjustments layers) ALL GONE WHY? Because i updated?!
Ah, I'm sorry to hear that! My advice would be to roll back to the previous version before the update using Time Machine if you have a recent time machine backup. Hopefully that will restore all your plugins and effects.

Very good tips, Brad and Donna. For my case, it is the opposite, my FCPX is the latest version 10.5.2 while my moti file is ozml 5.10 and display version 5.4.3 which works for FCPX version 10.4.6. Future dating the .moti files didn't work for me. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you Brad, in advance!

MotionVFX has a really great support team. My advice would be to reach out to them to see if they can point you in the right direction. It might be a plug-in version issue and they would be able to help with that 😊 I hope you get it sorted!

Hi, this fix is not working for me unfortunately. Color finale no longer works. Any idea what I can do?
This fix doesn’t seem to work with Color Finale. Have you got ver 1 or ver 2? Ver 2 should be compatible with the latest few versions of FCP and MacOS.
