Can you do a video on studio one and studio live 32 s using pipeline, how to send the signal to an analog compressor and back into studio one. It would be greatly appreciated if you could do that. I have looked all over UA-cam and haven't been able to find any videos. I keep getting a feedback when I try it. Thanks
You were very helpful 2 years ago when I first got my Studio Live 32S model and I thought I'd ask you the following question hoping you might know the answer. Question: Would you know how to hook up an external interface with the Studio Live 32S model mixer rather than using the built in interface that comes with the mixer? I want to use a 32 in and 32 out interface like an Antelope Orion Interface with my Studio Live Mixer and Studio One Software. I saw a video on doing this by someone the last year or so, but can't seem to find it. I thought I would ask you as your videos are always well explained and provide great work around solutions. My model is the 32S model...All the best. Phil NYC / Jersey Shore Area
Hi Phil.. well u can always use the analog i/o .. and route accordingly as needed. Remember the 32s does not have 32 outs. It has 16 aux outs. And ur mains. And AES stereo. There is no way to hook the "interface to the interface" if that makes sense. Basically ur new interface will be what interfaces ur computer with the outside world. And the 32s will simply become a digital mixer in that sense.
@@DuceIRae You hit on it exactly why I am considering an external dedicated interface w/32 ins and 32 outs because the Presonus 32S only has 16 outs and I would like 32 outs sent to my 32 channel analog console/mixer. You're exactly correct. My only concern is can I run a dedicated external interface (like say a a 32 in/out Antelope Orion) and still use the Studio Live 32S mixer as a Control Surface for my Studio One DAW. That is what I am unsure of. Thanks as always. Phil
Great video...I watched it again (I watched it 5 months ago) and now that I know a little more about the 32S so some of the tips make more sense. (I still have a ways to go, the board can be confusing at times). I plan on buying (pretty sure I'll buy) the SSL UC1 Controller w/the Native Channel Strip Plugin. It seem like a really good way to speed up work flow as I am used to doing things on a large format analog inline modular console. I need to make a decision whether to buy the UC1 before May 31st before the sale ends. I have the trial channel strip right now and will make up my mind soon whether to buy it. Thanks and well explained. Phil NYC area
I have a Studiolive 16 III that I use with Studio One on a Mac. Your video helped me understand the audio routing between the two machines. Thank you. I have a question about monitoring while I record. I monitor through the mixer all the time because I am recording live sound through microphones. I am about to start using some of the software sounds in Studio One. I presume I have to use the DAW monitor for that? Is it OK to monitor some tracks on the DAW and some on the mixer at the same time?
Yes to use the virtual instruments in studio one you will have to turn on the monitoring for that channel in the daw. This will just route it to ur main outs if you have it set up that way. But u can change the output of that channel to anything u want.
I have this same desk but am at a standstill as my MS Surface is not equipped to power it. I hope to be up and running soon. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Hey! Like your show on this mixer. I have the smallest one, the 32SC. It replaced my old 16,4,2 Presonus that needed an expensive repair. I'm hoping you have a bunch more videos on this mixer. Good info is hard to find. Especially guys putting up videos this year. They don't always reply to questions. Joe Gilder is pretty good at it though. Looking forward to seeing more on this board! I subscribed too. Quick question; there will be many more! Is it possible to record fader moves? I'm running Cubase 10 Pro but I'd really like to mix songs in my studio on the board. Thanks again!
hey thank you for the comment and the sub. as far as recording fader moves. you cant on the board it self. but you can with your daw and use the board in daw mode and the faders will move accordingly along with any automation you have going in the daw. I do it all the time in studio one. hope that helps. And I will try to come up with some more stuff for this board. I have a video im editing now comparing some preamps 1st and ill see about making another video on this board. Thanks!
Hello am using PreSonus studio live 32s and connected it to my iMac 27 inch of 2017 but i get usb connection Errors, it looses connections every 5 to 10 minutes. please tell me whats with my studio live mixer or its the computer not matching up with the mixer?
@@DuceIRae which drive? is ther any drive that i should install? because i did all the universalcontral updates and firewire updates too. i got a coup of external drive connected to my computer usb port. i did everything to try to solve the pro blame, and alse bought a spare powered usb port try to support it but still getting the same issue
Not drive. But driver. But if you already used universal control from presonus it should do that. So it might be a compatibility problem with Apple computer .. might want to contact presonus support about it. Apple stuff can often be a pain.
Currently I'm not using the lp8 anymore. At least not as my main speakers. I was testing diffrent configurations. I am currently using barefoot speakers. And love them.
Great video and I have a question please. I have the same 32S model which I have not used yet (I bought it recently). I am rewiring my studio for a hybrid setup where on a mix down I would like to use at times some vintage outboard gear. (Like an Eventide H3000 and some vintage digital reverbs like Yamaha REV 7 and Lexicon PCM 42 Digital Delay). Question: Is it best to send the the audio to the outboard gear using the Sub Outputs (like an aux send on an analog console) and return the stereo FX audio return signal via either the Aux inputs and/or a line input. There's only 2 stereo Aux inputs on the 32S, so I would prefer being able to use the line inputs (as returns) so if needed, I can return 3 or more stereo FX return signals. Thanks for any info you can share as i am used to using an analog console. Phil NYC Area
Just send out the normal outputs. One way to do it. Is bring into the board on ur inputs (whatever channels u want via USB input and send to the outputs via the aux/sub/matrix mix buttons.) Then bring signal back in channels. Since it's a 32 input board (well.more technically) and 16 output. This let's u bring 16 in via USB, 16 out to outboard and 16 back in analog. That's one way to set it up .
@@DuceIRae OK...I'll have to digest this so I do it correctly as I am new to the mixer. I was having some confusion today getting the audio to play through the monitor outs, as with the different fader layers it can get a little confusing, until you're aware of what's going on. Some how I have channel one output to channel 40 (I don't remember messing with that setting). I am guessing in the soft patching screen, which I'll try tomorrow. The screen I was on I tried adjusting it back to CH 1 output, but when turning the knob it skips from Ch40 to CH2 and never shows CH 1 as an option. Phil
@@uptownphotography sounds like a buffer issue in studio one. Kinda depends on how powerful your computer is. Remember if your using the studio live mixer as your main audio interface for studio one. this thing has lots of inputs and outputs. so check ur buffer settings in studio one. turn up your buffer a couple of notches. it will increse the latency a bit. the higher the buffer the more lantency.

Hey ! I have a question, please tell me I would like to know, I bought this amazing Presonus studio live 32sx remote control, which pleases me with its functions. I want to know, the question of the sd card. Example: musicians are playing and the recording goes only to the sd card not connected to the computer, played music and I want to rewrite the part of any instrument, or add an instrument on top. Is it possible? thank you, I hope my question is clear! please give an answer!
I am sorry I dont really use the SD card function. but if I did I would keep it pretty simple. I Personally would only use it to say record a live gig or something if I didnt have a laptop or something to track into. and then I would just import that tracks from the SD card into studio one later for editing and mixing at that point. I kinda do this now for when I am shooting videos. But I use a separate multi track recorder. that way I can track audio from my computer to it, and different lav mic as well. same princeable really.
One of my favorite studio 1/presonus tutorial. Down to earth even in your spaceship. Thanks.

An acer 49 inch super ultra wide

Can I route one (analog) Input into several channels for parallel processing?
I do not believe so. I think the best way to do that would be a splitter before hand or a mult on a patch bay.
