Hey Guys. With all the PPE shortage that we are facing right now, we have resorted to making our own Face Shields. Hopefully, this will help until we get the additional PPE delivered to us. Please share this video to help others. Make sure to ask your hospital regarding policies about the use of home-made PPEs.
    Materials to get:
    1. Frost King Rubber Foam (1 1/4 " wide x 7/16 " thick x 10 ft long): amzn.to/2JLnXZf
*you can buy this a Home Depot or Amazon
    2. Clear Binding Cover: amzn.to/3c5ayHL
*you can buy this at Office Depot
    3. Elastic Band: amzn.to/2JJlHln
*any crafts store should have this.

Hey guys, we added links in the description so that you can buy the materials online (social distancing). These are the cheapest we found so far. But again, you can buy the materials at Home Depot, Office Depot and Walmart. I hope this helps. And remember, we are all in this together. :)

Magic in Nursing Team hi I recently found your UA-cam page and you guys did such a great job explaining the ABG’s thank you so much for that I was really struggling. So I’m going to school for LPN and getting ready for exit test and preparing my self for the Nclex. Do have any tips or anything that can help me prepare?

The 8mil clear covers you have on your link are too flimsy. you need at least 10 mil to prevent cracking and glares.

My dad is bus driver in Seattle. One of the drivers he worked with was spat on by a person suffering from mental health issues who also also had Covid 19. The bus driver became infected and died as a result. These would be helpful for all essential workers, not only us nurses. Thank you so much!

I just machine stitched a casing for a tie on shield. Will try the next using elastic. My husband thought I was nuts when I picked up my supplies yesterday. Took under 5 minutes to make one--sewn not stapled.

They wouldn't take anything homemade since they probably have policies. Hospitals only order from certain places and in bulk. These would be great for home use, visiting a friend,or shopping.

Cynthia Buttry very true with the protocols. I’m I just know some hospitals are very desperate at the moment so these can be good until they get more PPE. I know some hospitals that are accepting homemade ppe. Hopefully they wouldn’t have to resort to this 😭

8.5 x 11" laminating sheets also work and are thicker and more rigid than binder cover sheets. Cutting elastic longer, full circle around head, and taping to the shield the same as taping the foam to the shield (elastic taped to outside and foam to the inside of the shield) makes the shield sturdier and the elastic stronger since it is attached across the full width of the shield versus only attached at two corners..

Great Idea!! I had this idea and looked for a video, and here I found one. I'm using a pack of laser printer transparency film I got from Staples. I might try to be a little creative by printing something on it. I used a hole punch to make a few holes above the eyes to help a little with ventilation. I haven't finished it yet, but it looks like it's going to work. Thanks!

Depending on where you live, you can buy foams in your local craft store or home depot. You can buy any foam or any material than can be used as a cushion for your forehead. I like the foam that we used because it is a weather foam which makes the foam somehow sweat resistant.

Very nice idea. I use these types of face shields as an ophthalmologsit but am plagued by fogging. I have tried using them with contact lenses or with glasses and the fogging is unbearable. Instead of one continuous line of foam, cut the foam into three pieces, and space them about 1/2 inch apart. That leaves 2 small gaps, and helps with the fogging as the air can go out between the gaps.

Is this plastic permeable (where virus could go through it)? Would the CDC approve of this face shield saying it is effective in protecting from the Corona Virus or would it be ineffective but better than nothing (only useful vs. droplets, etc.)? I was just curious. If this is not permeable & would be effective in Corvid-19 then I applaud you.I was thinking of making one myself recycling/upcycling old plastic packaging/containers I had around the house but wasn't sure about its permeability and effectiveness. I really like the upbeat music in this film as well. This is a well done video! Thank you! Be encouraged! :)

I have everything I need - why are we not all making these at home to give to hospitals? Is there a reason why they can't be used in high risk areas?

    • @MagicinNursingTeam

Locally, some nurses are doing these already to donate to hospitals 👍

Yes, as long as you cover the holes with tape or something so you wont have any openings in your shield 👍

I am assuming this is meant to be reusable... if so, would you please go over the proper method of cleaning/disinfecting this since you work at hospitals, you might know how 😊

    • @MagicinNursingTeam
      @MagicinNursingTeam  4 роки тому +1

Every hospital has different protocols in place. Please follow yours. In some hospitals, they recommend either clorox wipes or alcohol wipes. Hope this helps!
