DIY PPE: Quick and Easy Face Shield

- Here is how to make a very easy and quick face shield PPE (personal protective equipment) to protect yourself from a sneezing or coughing person infected by a disease especially if you are a health worker.
Materials needed:
~ Long or legal size transparent plastic folder
~ Face towel or a piece of cloth
~ Stretchable envelop tie (or any alternative)
~ Scissors, pen, ruler, puncher
~ Any object with circular part like a roll of tape, saucer, or cup
~ Glue gun and glue sticks
~ Washi tape for the edge decoration (optional)
I love this, so easy. I'm going to make a bunch for my office.
Instead of the fabric, get stick-on weather stripping (cut 2 pieces the same length, apply the 1st piece and then apply the 2nd piece on top of the first one, curving it as you go and then trimming any excess)! If you're making these for hospitals, don't decorate the edges around side and bottom or it might obstruct the view. Great video!

That seems quite easy if you have the materials (plastic folder) to hand, because like everything else at the moment, there will suddenly be a rush to buy and then shortage.

A proper face shield needs a gap at the top between the forehead and the plastic, otherwise it traps your breath and gets misted up. There are plenty of free videos showing you how to achieve this.

any gaps could allow droplets to fall through on to the face kinda defeating the purpose of wearing it wouldnt it ?
Against fogging? Suppose You have to make several tries & experiments! So better buy more material.

I cried when I saw this because I'm forced to make a decision today about sending my kids to school or homeschool online or lose my job I feel like this is the most difficult decision I'm going to have to do it is scares the s*** out of me because I have no idea where these other people have been. Can't understand why more people aren't wearing more of these?, They are comfy, you can breathe in them. Not like the facemasks, my glasses fog up!. I've made three shields, bit tough looking I'll keep trying.
Very quick & easy to make! I'm just not sure how practical it would be to use around very sick patients since that plastic is so thin...
The masks are less safe because either they have to be changed and desinfected frequently or replaced! And masks don't protect the eyes!

Face Shields are great, but how can you be protected from the back when you're standing in line at the grocery store?

It's the sick person's droplets going in to your open mucus membranes, ie, the eyes, the nose, the mouth, that will infect you. Nothing in the back! Just my observation!

Office and shool supplies shop or Stationery Department of a store. You can also use a clear PVC bookbinding cover as alternarive.
