i'l downvote you for not adding call of doodoo childwarfare 3 the revenge of the squeaker. I'm talking about the shit heap of call of duty.YEs every single racist and homophobic squeaker goes there with cringe lines. I don't know who think's that cringe fest toxicity is fun.
The major debate: is impact in gaming history the same as objective quality? Answer: No, especially when you're comparing disparate generations of games.
10. Goldeneye - I’d say it’s an oddball of a game. It was the best it could’ve been for an N64 fps licensed game, but compared to PC fps games like Doom, Dukenukem 3D, and Blood which have have aged wonderfully Goldeneye falls flat. I’d say Doom 64 holds up much better really. 9. FF7 - I didn’t really like it but it already gets so much flack for being overrated. I feel FF6 and FF tactics are more overrated since people tend to be more hesitant to criticize those. 8. Pokemon - I mean yeah I basically agree. I feel like the series was set up to where it couldn’t really do much in the way of innovation except add new pokemon. 7. Soulsborne - I love Dark Souls and Bloodborne but I do find them slightly overrated among the fanbase. I actually liked Sekiro the most I think. I cant say I find them clunky when compared to garbage like Skyrim and The Witcher series. 6. Assassins Creed - Havent touched this. Have no interest in it lol. 5. Super Mario Bros - And this is my first big disagreement lol. Super Mario 2 and 3 are all time favorites! I actually prefer the slippery controls of classic Mario. I found Super Mario World not very fun in large part because it was less slippery. Just didn’t feel as satisfying to control imo. 4. 3d Zelda - Agree and disagree. I love Majoras Mask but I think Ocarina is a bit overrated. I still enjoy it a lot. In general I prefer 2d Zelda but I think Majoras Mask is my favorite overall. Havent played 3,2, or 1 lol. I watched let’s plays of FF7 Remake and Undertale. I’ve considered playing Xenogears but I’ve heard a lot that’s turned me off, especially as someone who is less fond of jrpgs in general. That said I personally love the Mother games. Maybe youd dig them if you like Dragon Quest since they started off as a parody of that series.
To your point on Pokemon: I agree and it’s such a shame To your point on Zelda: Yeah I really liked Majora’s Mask when I played it years ago. Even today, it’s a good game. But as an adult who doesn’t have all the time in the world; the ticking clock just stresses me out and kinda ruins it fir me haha! To your point on Mother: I actually streamed a bit of Mother 1 recently. I loved the gameplay, story, and atmosphere. But it was WAAAAY too mazey for me. I ended up lost for like 2 full 2 hour streams and had to move on to another game. I will come back to the series and play Earthbound eventually, hopefully it’s not so bad in those areas.
@@dukey03 I see a lot of complaints when it comes to Majora Masks time limit stressing people out. Weirdly though it's never bothered me even though I easily get stressed. And yeah Earthbound and Mother 3 are easier and less mazey and confusing compared to the first game. I recall it being very difficult and rather directionless though I still enjoyed it. The atmosphere in those games are top notch imo. But if you're enjoying mother 1 you should enjoy the other 2 unless they seem too easy in comparison lol.
How dare you have a different opinion. Na I jest I make reviews and I get intimidated when making a video when it involves a beloved game especially when I'm not too keen.
Agreed with most of the list aside from the take on the souls series and maybe xenogears I wouldnt include undertale too, even tho its definitively overrated (just dont like to be harsh on Indie games like this) Probably would pick Gta san andreas, Bioshock infinite and the witcher 3 in my list
@@akhandtripathipyz9888 Cod is blindly hated by half of the gamer community so no way at all its overrated If not theres underrated titles in the franchise. Thing with witcher 3 is that its a niche idea that got popular for some reason and then people pretend it does everything for every kind of rpg player out there When in reality this is a game that has a very specific playerbase in mind, mostly Erpg fans that liked gothic,elex,greedfall,etc... You cant recommend it to a fallout or Tes fan and pretend everybody gotta love it since not even combat or interactivity with the game wkekd is the best out there (cant kill whole cities, barely can stole From people and certainly cant have many things on the game's world like houses)
@@Jrdotan overrated games in my eyes aren't the games wich gets more love than they deserve but rather games that gets more popularity and money than they deserve
I’m not sure if I’d put entire franchises as just one entry as I feel that’s a bit unfair and I like it better to keep each entry down to one if we’re just talking about individual games instead of entire franchises. Also I’m not sure if I’d put FF7 Remake considering that game is a very divisive entry to begin with (Though granted every Final Fantasy game since IX has been like this.) and it’s really not overrated if half of the fanbase hates it.
This is good! Well made video and good commentary. Kudos putting this together. It’s easy for people to cast stones at you because you don’t share their own personal opinions, it’s much easier to type a comment than to create their own content and put themselves out there like you do. Good job, keep it up
The hate comments and the dislikes really prove your point. A lot of them are just “nooooo, Here is why the game is a masterpiece-“ *proceeds to explain why every minor mechanic or shitty ai bullshit make the game more challenging thus somehow making it better*, who cares if they are objectively good, that doesn’t make them fun, a lot of movies that are considered “objectively good” are boring AF and the only really thing that makes them stand out is a few “Deep” messages thrown in with a weird color palette, those are the “most “masterpiece” art movies at least in a nutshell
When someone tells me that high ratings means objectively good I just want to scream! People don’t even know objectivity now! If most people like something it’s objective that most people like it and can’t be argued against! But people obviously don’t know what overrated means so!
Most overrated: 1: The Witcher 3. 2: GTA. 3: Call of Duty. 4: The Last of Us. 5: God of War. 6: Death Stranding. 7: Splinter Cells. 8: Elder's Scrolls. 9: Metal Gear Solid 4 and 5. 10: Persona 5.
Really solid list honestly. The only ones I’d argue against is Last of Us and MGS4 & 5. I REALLY liked the intensity and the story that was told in the original Last of Us. And I’m a HUGE Metal Gear fan, but I can understand why people would find MGS5 overrated considering the game was never really completed
@@dukey03 The Last of Us was so unoriginal and it did nothingg for video games. It was RE4 without the polish. Last of Us 2 was worse. So, I think the problem with games now is they focus too much on the story and not enough on gameplay. I know you put them on your list which is your choice, but Zelda keeps innovating, Pokemon popularized a new subgenre of RPGs, and Mario keeps pushing platform games. LoU was a poor man's RE4. MGS 4 and 5 were a shell of the first 3. They had bland gameplay and kept the games stuck in 2001. MGS 3 is still my favorite MG game. GoldenEye has aged very poorly. I think a remake needs to happen for that game. It did make FPS console friendly, but it needs an update badly.
Disagree on the list. Entirely! Lol Persona 5 is the only one I agree with. Last of Us is perfection. Same with Metal Gear. Your argument for Last of Us was it did nothing original or unique which ain't true at all, but you put Elder Scrolls on here which has never been replicated
I loved Goldneeye a lot but going back to it...the controls have aged poorly I agree with Final Fantasy VII. I played it when it was new and thought it was overrated then. I still do now. Hell, I would rank 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 and TActics above 7. Maybe Crisis Core too. I like that game a lot. Pokemon basically works like sports games. Same basic game every time and fans still eat that shit up I never got into soulsebourne. Remember when ASsassin's Creed was supposed to be super stealthy? What happened to that? Gotta disagree with Mario. Ocarina is good but overrated. I will defend Twilight Princess to the death tho. Still Link to the Past is GOAT. Links Awakening is top tier too People defend Dirge of Cerberus, and that is proof that FFVII fans will defend anything with the name on it. That game is a turd printed on a disc. Furry: the RPG. Yeah I have not played Undertale I agree with Xenogears to an extent. I love the first half of the game. The first disc is great. The second disc...is fucking unfinished
Your point against Soulsborne is essentially “it doesn’t appeal to my taste” as well as saying they’re “slow and clunky” despite Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne being pretty fast paced and fluid. And yeah, the clunk of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls 1 is a part of the appeal. Resident Evil 4 is clunky as hell with its tank controls, but that’s considered one of the greatest games ever. That’s what they were going for. You don’t have to like these games (hell, I only seriously disagree with 2 of these picks), but maybe try forming better critiques for these massive series. If you don’t give them that level of respect, it’s hard to respect your opinion of them.
Now I’m curious to watch the top 10 most underrated games list :) TBH I don’t agree with some of your choices (no.1!) but hey, can we accept people having diverse opinions?
I grew up with the n64, and never liked goldeneye. Thought it was crap then, and still do now. Glad to know Pokémon is on here as well, those games aren’t amazing so much as they are addicting. EDIT: now you’re putting all of Mario and all of 3D Zelda on this list, you just sound like a neckbeard.
Rotflmao, that escalated quickly. I’m currently working on a video explaining why I don’t enjoy 99% of 3D Platformers. I basically can’t play them because I have no depth perception in 3D games
I think you could have just put "Ubisoft games" as a category due to R2 mapping lol. Also - No Animal Crossing? That is easily the most overrated game I've ever played.
Haha yeah I really could have just replaced Assassin’s Creed with pretty much the entire Ubisoft library hahaha! There’s potential for a Part 2 of this video; same with the Underrated Games video. Sooo many on both sides!
I agreed with nine out of ten on your list. I think Half Life 2 should have been on there. Feels like most of your grievances are because these games are popular
Interesting list. I agree with most of them, although I am honestly surprised how sour of an experience Undertale was from you and how mean-spirited the segment was. I also have no patience for "Rick and Morty tier" writing or humor, but found Undertale to be one of the most charming and moving experiences I've ever had with gaming.
I agree with you on some opinions here. And here's my opinion about your list as well, 10: GoldenEye 64 confused the hell out of me the first time I try it on emulator. Wth is up with the buttons for the controls? And not to mention how very hard it is to aim around. There's lot more better shooters on PS1, mostly including Doom. 9: I love mostly Final Fantasy 7 spinoffs, but meh, I hate RPGs and I gave up playing 7 itself. Although I enjoy Crisis Core and Advent Children, FF7 has such a aged too bad gameplay, FF10 is way better imo. 7: Dark Souls... nah, Devil May Cry is the real deal. 6: Assasin's Creed, I don't have much appeal to this franchise. I find Mirror's Edge way better. Mirror's Edge has much more of a simple gameplay and turned out to be great. With it's all design and it's music. Funny to think both franchise come from the most greedy videogame companies, lol. 5: Mario... I find Klonoa way better. Klonoa has such a more better and simpler gameplay. If anyone read this... please try out the Klonoa franchise. The old games are expensive, but just go emulate a ROM of it.
I completely agree about Golden Eye, and kinda agree that some Zelda games are overrated, but wow... Some of those entries were like intentionally put there to make me angry lol Also, I won't spoil the video, but your #9 is just so wrong. To compare the charm and humor of that game to Rick & Morty and The Office? Wow. I get if you didn't like it, but wow lol Anyway, regardless of my thoughts on your picks, it was a well put together video, I guess. I feel like you could've went into more detail on WHY you think they're underrated, but since it's a top 10, I can see how you didn't want to linger on every pick.
@@dukey03 I always watch videos made by small YTers when I see one. Trying to be seen on YT is a very hard thing to do, and I can relate. So I do my part, at least. Sometimes, it's cringe. Other times it's decent or good. Thankfully, yours was definitely the latter, so good job.
Goldeneye is not overrated man, is more of a revolutionary game that, of course by today standards would be a bad game since the fps mechanics have been polished and perfected all this years, But when it came out it really was amazing with the split screen. I had countless of hours playing that game with friends and family.
Oh really? I’ve never actually played that one! I played a lot of Tomorrow Never Dies on PS1 and it was decent. I’m sure that one’s aged like shit too tho haha
@@dukey03 yeah the aiming is vastly improved, level design is about even and it actually has a compelling story with some interesting Mechanics. My favorite mission has you sneak around a villa gathering Intel while avoiding the baddie Gabor. "Take care to stay in your room Mr Bond. I'd hate for a guard to shoot you by mistake." Ugh that guy.. And the weapon selection sees a nice upgrade with snipers added, shotguns and the ability to switch certain guns between semi, auto and burst TWINE is superior to Goldeneye in pretty much every way. Thank you for coming to my TED talk 😅
@@Crow12619 if by multiplayer you mean split screen it had that. Tdm, capture the flag was nice and the ice level was goated with RPG spam in the trenches lol
So glad you put Xenogears number 1. The story NEVER made sense, the combat wasn’t “deep” like some people claim it is, and some fights are absurdly broken. GL if you didn’t save before. The 2nd half is worse than people warn you it is. But then there’s people who try to explain it away as “you don’t get it” or “you don’t care about esoteric story”. Sorry - I don’t think tales on morality are what makes games cool. TRASH
@@Lumbyrat Yeah dude, I was SOO disappointed by Xenogears. The fans’ excuse is always “well they ran out of money so they couldn’t finish it”… so even THEY know it’s garbage and just make excuses for it? I DID love the combat. I wouldn’t say it’s DEEP per se, but it was fun. Kind of like a way quicker paced Legend of Legaia.
I'm honestly working on my own overrated games, and I know a lot of people are gonna say something to me about it, but here's my list. Bare one main caveat in mind: This isn’t an all-time list, as that's gonna be a very long and time consuming process: 10. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty 9. Resident Evil 4 (2005) 8. Red Dead Redemption 2 7. Final Fantasy 7 6. Overwatch 5. Destiny franchise 4. Spider-Man 2018 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) 2. The Last of Us franchise (Games & TV Show) 1. Halo 2
I think the only one I disagree with here would be MGS2 as it’s one of my favorite games of all time. RE4 was incredible when it first came out and although it didn’t age TERRIBLY, it’s still not great compared to more modern games and is in no way a masterpiece
Also the original The Last of Us was REALLY fuckin good. It’s only TLoU2 and the tv show that makes people look back on the original poorly. The only thing the game lacks really is replay value
I agree with most of these. But the number one spot was one I’ve never heard of. So I was a little confused to hear it was the most overrated. Can something be overrated if I’ve never heard of it before?
Most people in the JRPG community will tell you Xenogears is the greatest game of all time. And they are either blinded by nostalgia or just straight up lying haha
@@dukey03 I for instance do think Xenogears is the second greatest game of all time (and not because of nostalgia), with Kuro no Kiseki being the only other game that beats it, and NieR Automata and 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim being the only other games that match it. But I can't see why original FFVII (I loved the remake and how it changes the plot explicitly because I felt the original was somewhat overrated), the soulslike genre, Chrono Trigger and Ocarina of Time get the praise they get.
Unpopular opinion: RPG’s are made for consoles. Because when you think about it the most influential RPG’s they’ve almost always been on consoles. I know you guys are gonna say Disco Elysium is very influential. That’s not entirely true. When you think about most influential RPG’s you think of Pokémon, Final Fantasy, Dark Souls, Dragon Quest, Persona and Persona 5, Fire Emblem. Notice something? They’re all on consoles. But that’s just my opinion.
I wouldn’t say this is an unpopular opinion. Up until recently RPGs were mainly solely on consoles, especially JRPGs. Other than the classics like Ultima and a bunch of Wester RPGs; you never really saw many RPGs on PC until recently, now that you’re able to easily play PC games with pretty much any controller you’ve got
Well it definitely contributed that consoles have for a while had a monopoly on the market. I would definitely agree that at least for a beginner consoles are your best choice. PC gaming requires a lot of time investment to know how to affordably and efficiently play games. However, as emulators slowly catch up to gaming in the modern day and new gen gaming becomes more and more focused on steam and other online distributors, consoles are losing major ground. Almost all of the vanguard of new gen gaming with the exclusion of some of the soulsborne games are on pc. And when you consider that a gaming pc also has so many potential uses other than gaming, it's getting pretty damn hard to argue that a gaming pc is a poor investment.
Good list. I gotta say, if I were to make a list like this of my own, Earthbound would definitely be on there. The game has great music, quirky characters and hilarious random story moments, but as a video game itself, I don’t find it very fun to play. It would make a better anime instead, IMO.
Haha oh shit; I’ve been looking forward to playing that one. I’ll be sure to dial back my expectations hahaha. I think my hatred for Xenogears is because I was told it’s the greatest game of all time by so many people; did we even play the same game!?
@@dukey03 i’ve heard the same about xenogears (though i never played it). Earthbound is a great experience for its story and characters, but it’s VERY old school RPG like. I mean, if you like the older Dragon Quest games then you’ll get some love out of Earthbound. Just expect a lot of “inventory is full” and some very heavy text based battles. Thinking about it, it’s not bad, it just feels older than it should. It doesn’t have the zazz as fellow SNES games Final Fantasy IV or Super Mario RPG do.
I felt the same way and wanted to give up. But I pushed myself to finish. The last chapter and epilogue kind of made up for its faults before that. That being said it's most definitely overrated.
Final Fantasy 7 isn't overrated. And no there aren't really any Jrpgs better. Just 9 but both are masterpieces. Agreed on everything else maybe. Goldeneye I can't speak for but I can see it was potentially legendary back in the day but I didn't have a N64 and didn't like shooters till 360 era. Zelda isn't really that overrated. Mario is. Assassin's Creed fans are self aware just like CoD fans that the games aren't great. But it's still treated like a big deal. Pokemon I'll never understand. I beat gold back in the day which was a fun little micro adventure but was a pass time type game. Not something I care about going back to and getting excited about. Plus they keep changing Pokemon which ruins it for me. I grew up becoming a fan of Pokemon like Charmander and Pikachu and all they do is cycle in New ones. That's the worst things you can do for new entries imo. Expand the game mechanics, graphics, lore, side quests, etc. You can add new ones, replace disliked ones. But I don't need a new version of them. Also they get cuter every generation which for me, loses the charm. But I'm clearly not the audience. Surprised anyone other than girls are Haha didn't know I've seen this video before and commented 2 years ago.
nah ff7 and mario games are some of the best ever made- assassins creed, god of war, fortnite and zelda however... geez. Breath of the wild and link to the past is beyond overrated. And lets not forget, zelda 1 on nes back in 1990 was my first game I ever played- so im not some "newcomer" or zelda hater (... english is my third language - I just write like a kid). Oh and I do hate the souls games, but even I had to admit Elden Ring was a 10/10 on my ps5 after forcing myself to give it a "try" for more than 10 hours- and then I was hooked (...was about to quit 100 times before that, before something clicked). While I do think Pokemon is shit, I have to admit I did enjoy it as a kid (so im not gonna slander it as an adult- kid franchises after all) and the whole universe with the tv shows, cards etc is its own thing as well and create this big brand and universe to embrace. but what made pokemon especially good back in the day was being a portable RPG. a huge rpg world in your pocket in a small cartdrige was mind blowing back then.
I think you were to nice on Pokémon I think should been higher on the list If I had to say ff7 remake should not be here or be like 10 or 9 and I would also put five night's at Freddy im surprised you not mentioning minecraft but I agree mostly and respect your opinion
I play so many games, different genre ever since i was a kid and i am a really nerdy guy but no games has made me fall asleep while playing like wow did, wow is the most overrated, unfun, pianfully boring game i have ever played, it can actually cause me emotional pain. Now, i am not a hater i love the lore, i tried getting into it couple of times, i like the raids, and it's coming from a guy who can play games for hours upon hours but man it's just a horrible experience, how can it get popular to a point where people actually pay to play it? it's just insane to me and i think the people who play it or even say they enjoy it are not right in head.
@@dukey03 i don't know if the reason is the game being mmo, i play warframe and i was hooked, dopamine rushed in my brain just like a drug, warframe is mmorpg as well, i don't quite know the reason yet, but playing wow is like a torture to me, i tried to get into it so many times, i just can't find anything to enjoy, how can people get addicted to it, it's insane, it's crazy.
@@dukey03 true, its not very mmo. I think the reason i find wow so horrible is the fetch quest type, doing the same thing over and over is very boring. How can people get addicted to it is just mind blowing, i think they are low iq, lack common sense, mentally unwell people.
Why are we saying that video games from the N64 are overrated? Those games were groundbreaking. Goldeneye and Ocarina are first ballot Hall of Famers. No questions asked.
@@dukey03 that's not a good take, to compare games of old to the standards now? Not even close to a fair fight. Let's compare a Walkman cd player to an iPod.
@@steezyybrah9745 why would you use a walkman over an iPod? You wouldn’t. So why would you play Goldeneye over Doom Eternal? In the same light; Mega Man 2, 3, 4, and 6 for the NES are all better games than Mega Man 11 is on the PS4 and Switch.
@@dukey03 c'mon bruh, the first game is probably the most overrated game of all time. There's nothing about that game that hasn't been done before and the plot is predictable. I'm not saying that the game was bad, but it was painfully mid considering the praise that people gave to that game. Second game wasn't overrated because most people didn't like it (me included)
Glad you mentioned 3D Zelda, those games are always hyped to the moon and back and never deserve it. They’re like the gameplay of the LEGO games except with a feminine elf boy
@@dukey03 believe it or not there are also some that have better gameplay than others - I recommend Lego Batman 2 or Lego marvel superheroes if you’d like to try the peak. But yeah, I’ve only played those as a kid using couch co-op, so I don’t know if they would hold up as an adult playing solo
For me original Bioshock is the most overrated. Its good game but to me its nothing beyond that. I felt like its story, characters, settint and atmosphere were all overhyped/praised. Other games that I feel got too much praise compared to how I enjoyed them or compared to some other games in the same franchise: -Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Halo 3 - original Gears of War None of these are bad games at all but I just cant praise them in the same way most of game critics and gaming community does
Yeah I would agree with pretty much all your picks. I played Bioshock for the first time a year or so ago and felt the same way. It was a good game, but people were blowing it up with hype back in the day
I think it’s because I’m old as balls so most of the people I know don’t really play Minecraft. But I agree; it’s definitely overrated. Hell, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a better “building” game in every single way AND manages to have a great story and world as well
I haven't played that many "3D Zelda games", but I really love OOT and BOTW. BOTW is somewhat overrated because I get really bored if I play for like more than 2 hrs. But OOT I think its not overrated, because I liked everything about it.
Agree all the way with Goldeneye. Don’t know why people hold this game in such high regard. But Persona 5 should be on here too, along with Metal Gear Solid.
I still haven’t given Persona 5 a playthrough (because I’m scared of how long it is haha!). But I agree with the original Metal Gear Solid. I love the Metal Gear series, but have never really been a big fan of the first MGS game
I feel like GTA has it's pocket of fans and other than them, nobody really plays them anymore. Same with Among Us. Ubisoft games are all shit, so they can't be overrated when most people would rate them as garbage. If you're looking for the straight up AWFUL games check out THIS video: ua-cam.com/video/RZpiryVLN_o/v-deo.html
This is where I’m gonna have to disagree with these entry’s, the 3D Zelda games are still great and are not overrated. And OOT is the greatest game of all time.
Most overrated games for me are the Uncharted games and The Last of Us Part 1. They have two of my most hated video game protagonists in Nathan Drake and Joel. The only Naughty Dogs games i've liked were Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2.
while i don't necessarily disagree with most of these and i can sort of understand where you're coming from with the ones i did disagree with, i still think the video is a way too shallow. you can't just dismiss mario without saying anything other than "the controls are slippery"
Really fun video. Only thing I disagree in is xenogears. I don't care for the game, but not many people even know about it irl. And the game hasn't gotten any sirt of port since the ps3 era
Every single old game is overrated. The older it gets, the more overrated it becomes. The saddest thing about the society is we judge shit by age, not quality.
@@jacksonjacob7791people play games to have fun, myself if I wanted a good story I read a book or watch a movie. Nintendo have way better games than the overrated wannabemovies that Sony does.
Lol the dislikes on this video alone speaks volumes of the tears and dashed hopes you created. I can't tell if you are trolling on a few of these games but hey opinions are like A holes.... Cheers!
I love how you put FF7 on this list. I wholeheartedly agree about the fact that there are many, MANY, better RPGs than FF7. And yes their rabid fanbase is ridiculous about defending their sacred cow...and yeah. As much as I loved Xenogears disc 2 MASSIVELY let me down when I first played it. That's why I can never consider it a classic. Great game just too ambitious for the time and budget.
007 WAS good in it's time, but people claiming it held up even to now? No. I like the first half of FF7 up to the point where Cloud gives the black materia to Sephiroth. That's when I lost interest. I thought it was such a stupid "plot twist" in the game. Perhaps it just wasn't explained well enough, but if that's the case, the game still fails as it didn't properly get across the reasoning for that stupid part. I still beat it and got all the secrets and bosses and even leveled up all my characters to lvl99, but having to fight a SINGLE enemy over and over again in the crater showed a lot of cracks within end game material. The only good Pokemon games are Pokemon Pinball for the GBA and Colosseum. I have respect for gold and silver, but I don't care to play them. The souls games are for normies man. I know how that sounds, but it's true....who are the people always coming to those games? The people that play mainstream stuff that hear the hype or are wannabe stoics or whatever. I beat Demon's Souls and Dark Souls and felt "hollow" after beating both of them. I don't get the appeal and that's probably because I'm not a normie. Asscreed has always been ass as this is the franchise that replaced Prince of Persia, which is the superior franchise. It's not PoP's fault that Ubisoft became creatively bankrupt. The funny thing about Mario is that developers always tell each other that there's already too many platformer games on the market and yet Mario continues to keep selling platformers. Personally, I believe that Rayman Legends is better than any Mario 2d scroller game....too bad Ubisoft has the rights to it...As far as good 3d platformers go, play Spark the Electric Jester 3. One of the best Sonic Adventure like games ever created. Definitely better than any Sonic game in existence. As far as OoT goes, I wouldn't call it the greatest game of all time, however I'd still say it's one of the best. With how much content you get in that game comparatively to what Nintendo gives now, there's NO competition. I'm actually surprised to see that Zelda games got less and less content over time. I always despised how much the later zelda games became repetitive fetch quests. I really thought that OoT would have been the standard. I'd argue that for me, the only Zelda games I truly appreciate are OoT and Windwaker. The other ones I do not care about. I have respect for Link to the Past, but it's like a nod of respect, I don't want to play it, which is funny because you'd think that OoT and LttP are pretty identical. I will not play this game due to the disrespect that the developers showed towards their older fans. Those whispers or whatever are blatant representations of FF7 fans. It is completely disrespectful to main core audience. I didn't beat the game, but I did appreciate Undertale. I was so impressed when I killed Toriel (which her name is tutorial pretty much) and I remember quitting out of the game and the game actually calling me out for doing it. The game knew that I killed her and that I didn't like that outcome. The meta was SO cool. Yea, none of the Xeno series for me thank you. Not my thing. Just play Chained Echoes. I HIGHLY recommend playing Panzer Dragoon Saga though. Kingdom Hearts 1 is the only good game in my eyes. I can't believe they thought it was oki to make the QTE parts just ONE BUTTON. After coming from a game like God of War with its QTE, Kingdom Hearts II was lackluster.
I have the game, I got it with my modded 3ds, but I don't know (actual cartridge). I just don't appreciate the game play. If someone made a game where each one of your buttons of your controller were a different attack and a bar for your monster filled up dependent on variables, I'd probably want to give that a shot, but as it stands now, the only Pokemon that really got me excited was Colosseum and that think that's because it was not only challenging, but also more mature. @@dukey03

The major debate: is impact in gaming history the same as objective quality?
Answer: No, especially when you're comparing disparate generations of games.
One of my next videos I’m going to be talking about the games that evolved the gaming industry
@@dukey03Then you’ll be contradicting yourself if you bring up the games in this list. Zelda, Pokémon, Mario, Goldeneye all did that.
Bros allergic to popular games.
To your point on Pokemon: I agree and it’s such a shame
To your point on Zelda: Yeah I really liked Majora’s Mask when I played it years ago.

Thing with witcher 3 is that its a niche idea that got popular for some reason and then people pretend it does everything for every kind of rpg player out there
When in reality this is a game that has a very specific playerbase in mind, mostly Erpg fans that liked gothic,elex,greedfall,etc...
You cant recommend it to a fallout or Tes fan and pretend everybody gotta love it since not even combat or interactivity with the game wkekd is the best out there (cant kill whole cities, barely can stole From people and certainly cant have many things on the game's world like houses)

Thank you very much! I hope you also enjoy some of my other videos!
💯
At least those objectively good works will age well instead of recycled crap that everyone will forget about
When someone tells me that high ratings means objectively good I just want to scream! People don’t even know objectivity now! If most people like something it’s objective that most people like it and can’t be argued against! But people obviously don’t know what overrated means so!
Most overrated:
1: The Witcher 3.
@theYOUNGoutlaw I didn't see anything interesting in it. I thought it was pretty good, but I've played better.
Disagree on the list. Entirely! Lol Persona 5 is the only one I agree with. Last of Us is perfection. Same with Metal Gear. Your argument for Last of Us was it did nothing original or unique which ain't true at all, but you put Elder Scrolls on here which has never been replicated
@@michelletackett9489
Absolutely Witcher 3 is overrated af
My thing with Undertale is I like everything about it except playing it.
This is very RPG-centric, but hilarious, and I can’t disagree with these picks lol
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I’m a big JRPG fan; so I’ve played more JRPGs than probably any other genre
Nice profile pic
I loved Goldneeye a lot but going back to it...the controls have aged poorly
I agree with Final Fantasy VII. I played it when it was new and thought it was overrated then. I still do now. Hell, I would rank 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 and TActics above 7. Maybe Crisis Core too. I like that game a lot.
Pokemon basically works like sports games. Same basic game every time and fans still eat that shit up
I never got into soulsebourne.
Remember when ASsassin's Creed was supposed to be super stealthy? What happened to that?
Gotta disagree with Mario.
Ocarina is good but overrated. I will defend Twilight Princess to the death tho. Still Link to the Past is GOAT. Links Awakening is top tier too
People defend Dirge of Cerberus, and that is proof that FFVII fans will defend anything with the name on it. That game is a turd printed on a disc.
Furry: the RPG. Yeah I have not played Undertale
I agree with Xenogears to an extent.
Dark souls better when it was slow and clunky tbh. Bloodborne ruined the franchise

You made enemies with like 95% of gamers 😆

I think you could have just put "Ubisoft games" as a category due to R2 mapping lol. Also - No Animal Crossing? That is easily the most overrated game I've ever played.

There’s potential for a Part 2 of this video; same with the Underrated Games video. Sooo many on both sides!
Agreed.
Xenogears and Final Fantasy VII are one of the best rpg.
I agreed with nine out of ten on your list. I think Half Life 2 should have been on there. Feels like most of your grievances are because these games are popular
A game has to be popular in order to be overrated.

I'm happy to know that I'm not the only person who thinks that undertale is overrated as hell.
I agree with you on some opinions here.
And here's my opinion about your list as well,
10: GoldenEye 64 confused the hell out of me the first time I try it on emulator.
@@Pokaroquai I played a bit of Klonoa Door To Phantomile when I was a kid and it was fun.
Damn I’m was super down with this list until you went to the soulsborne, if you clarfied that sekiro wasn’t apart of this I would have been more down.
I haven’t played Sekiro, only Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne for the most part. So I suppose it would exclude Sekiro haha
Underrated:racing/open world games
Overrated:RPG/Fighting games
Fighting games are niche, sounds like a skill issue
Golden Eye is so bad now lol.
Yeah it really aged terribly haha
I completely agree about Golden Eye, and kinda agree that some Zelda games are overrated, but wow... Some of those entries were like intentionally put there to make me angry lol
Also, I won't spoil the video, but your #9 is just so wrong. To compare the charm and humor of that game to Rick & Morty and The Office? Wow. I get if you didn't like it, but wow lol
Anyway, regardless of my thoughts on your picks, it was a well put together video, I guess. I feel like you could've went into more detail on WHY you think they're underrated, but since it's a top 10, I can see how you didn't want to linger on every pick.

@@FairuzAlBahr it’s a grind, that’s for sure!

The combat in 007: the world is not enough (N64) absolutely slaps goldeneye

So glad you put Xenogears number 1. The story NEVER made sense, the combat wasn’t “deep” like some people claim it is, and some fights are absurdly broken. GL if you didn’t save before. The 2nd half is worse than people warn you it is. But then there’s people who try to explain it away as “you don’t get it” or “you don’t care about esoteric story”. @@Lumbyrat Yeah dude, I was SOO disappointed by Xenogears. The fans’ excuse is always “well they ran out of money so they couldn’t finish it”… so even THEY know it’s garbage and just make excuses for it?

bro started his soulsborne journey on dark souls II
I'm honestly working on my own overrated games, and I know a lot of people are gonna say something to me about it, but here's my list. Bare one main caveat in mind: This isn’t an all-time list, as that's gonna be a very long and time consuming process:
10. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
9. Resident Evil 4 (2005)
8. Red Dead Redemption 2
7. Final Fantasy 7
6. Overwatch
5. Destiny franchise
4. Spider-Man 2018
3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
2. The Last of Us franchise (Games & TV Show)
The only thing the game lacks really is replay value
the FF7 Remake part is SPOT ON
I agree with most of these.
@@dukey03maybe because of the writting? There is not a lot of jrpgs with even decent writting
@@DOGEELLL yeah, the writing in Xenogears is fine, but it’s a completely unfinished mess of a game still
Question: Do you think Mega Man 9 is overrated? It added virtually nothing new to the franchise, yet got showered with praise.
Ye
@@lamestudiosinc418 I never said that they were poor. I just meant that many RPG’s have console legacies. That’s all
@@TheAgingGamer ahh that makes sense. I played Mother and it was SUPER mazey and directionless. Other than that, I did enjoy it for the most part

Red Dead Redemption 2. Couldn‘t force myself to finish this chore in two tries.
Yeah I agree there. There’s always a point where too much “realism” makes a game not fun to play
I felt the same way and wanted to give up. But I pushed myself to finish. The last chapter and epilogue kind of made up for its faults before that.
That being said it's most definitely overrated.
The moment you put Mario that’s when I stopped taking this video seriously
Surprised anyone other than girls are

nah ff7 and mario games are some of the best ever made- assassins creed, god of war, fortnite and zelda however... geez. Breath of the wild and link to the past is beyond overrated. And lets not forget, zelda 1 on nes back in 1990 was my first game I ever played- so im not some "newcomer" or zelda hater (... english is my third language - I just write like a kid).

The first one was really good. The 2nd was shit and most people didn’t like it
@@dukey03 c'mon bruh, the first game is probably the most overrated game of all time. There's nothing about that game that hasn't been done before and the plot is predictable. I'm not saying that the game was bad, but it was painfully mid considering the praise that people gave to that game. Second game wasn't overrated because most people didn't like it (me included)
Oh the irony...
Sword and Shield are some of my favorite Pokémon games ever
Glad you mentioned 3D Zelda, those games are always hyped to the moon and back and never deserve it. They’re like the gameplay of the LEGO games except with a feminine elf boy
Haha oh man.. the Lego games are games I WANT to like, because they seem so fun. But they’re just SOOO SLOOOWW and bland
@@seymourpant yeah those were the only 2 I really enjoyed as well.
For me original Bioshock is the most overrated. Its good game but to me its nothing beyond that. I felt like its story, characters, settint and atmosphere were all overhyped/praised.
Other games that I feel got too much praise compared to how I enjoyed them or compared to some other games in the same franchise:
-Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Halo 3
- original Gears of War
None of these are bad games at all but I just cant praise them in the same way most of game critics and gaming community does
Yeah I would agree with pretty much all your picks. I played Bioshock for the first time a year or so ago and felt the same way. It was a good game, but people were blowing it up with hype back in the day
Goldeneye is still great on PC. Trying it out on original hardware is not worth it though.
Oh I believe that. Do you just use a N64 emulator and somehow map the joystick to the mouse?
@@dukey03 fan made mod.
I would have added sonic, xenoblade chronicles, fortnite, zelda breath of the wild, Mario odessey.
I love Xenoblade Chronicles, but pretty much agree with the rest. Sonic hasn’t been on top since the Genesis days
Somehow mine raft didn't make this list? Understand zero percent of the addiction people have to this.
I think it’s because I’m old as balls so most of the people I know don’t really play Minecraft. But I agree; it’s definitely overrated. Hell, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a better “building” game in every single way AND manages to have a great story and world as well
It's because the amount of freedom the game gives, and the fact that you can create almost anything with the blocks.
I haven't played that many "3D Zelda games", but I really love OOT and BOTW.
BOTW is somewhat overrated because I get really bored if I play for like more than 2 hrs.
But OOT I think its not overrated, because I liked everything about it.
Botw first play through was magical for me. I’ve completely beaten the game 3 times
How is GTA not here?
Or Among Us? Ubisoft games?
I feel like GTA has it's pocket of fans and other than them, nobody really plays them anymore. Same with Among Us.
Ubisoft games are all shit, so they can't be overrated when most people would rate them as garbage. If you're looking for the straight up AWFUL games check out THIS video: ua-cam.com/video/RZpiryVLN_o/v-deo.html
The king of fighters should be on list
This is where I’m gonna have to disagree with these entry’s, the 3D Zelda games are still great and are not overrated. And OOT is the greatest game of all time.
7 remake was hated. lol
No shit the game was an unfinished disaster. Why pay 60-70 bucks for a unfinished game
Saying Super Mario is overrated is objectively false.
Assassin's Creed is amazing. I liked all of the games, even though they're flawed. Except Odyssey, we don't mention that one
Fuck yeah we do.
Most overrated games for me are the Uncharted games and The Last of Us Part 1. They have two of my most hated video game protagonists in Nathan Drake and Joel. The only Naughty Dogs games i've liked were Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2.
while i don't necessarily disagree with most of these and i can sort of understand where you're coming from with the ones i did disagree with, i still think the video is a way too shallow.
you can't just dismiss mario without saying anything other than "the controls are slippery"
if you disagree then that means you do not play any good games, these are overacted for an reason and mario is simple game and you cannot denying that
Even the most die hard of Xenogears fans know disc 2 is ass lol
@@billyboleson2830 Hahaha yuuup
@@billyboleson2830 then try to justify half the game being total garbage by saying “well they cut the budget.. so 10/10 greatest game of all time!”
All modern demakes should be on this list
no way you put zelda above souls games
but out of all these 10, xenogears never got great sales or became popular, so.....it remains obscure
It still has a massive hype among jrpg fans.
Where's minecraft?
Where is fortnite?
@@theoeideaasebstl5245 where's free fire
Pokemon is so overrated and I had them shits when they came out.
I would have had ff7 and ff7r at the top of the list.
Me watching the video until Mario franchise was there:
My reaction: 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
🤣
@@dukey03 No jokes that makes me anxious
Not a totally unreasonable list. Only thing i disagee with slightly was the OG FF7 but the rest i can't really disagree with.
Pokemon games would be amazing if they had good stories and characters. And better challenge in single player
Really fun video. Only thing I disagree in is xenogears. I don't care for the game, but not many people even know about it irl. And the game hasn't gotten any sirt of port since the ps3 era
I feel like if it could get finished in a proper remake; it could live up to the hype. The potential for a great game is there
Every single old game is overrated. The older it gets, the more overrated it becomes. The saddest thing about the society is we judge shit by age, not quality.
You have played flatout 2?this game is underrated and is one of best games of world
Old is better most of the time sorry
Basically every game Nintendo has created
Sony has made. There, fixed it.
Rinse and repeat games with little to no story.
@@jacksonjacob7791Moviegames with minimal gameplay and lots of cutscenes: PlayStation games
@@jacksonjacob7791people play games to have fun, myself if I wanted a good story I read a book or watch a movie. Nintendo have way better games than the overrated wannabemovies that Sony does.
Finally someone who knows how overatted pokemon is
Lol the dislikes on this video alone speaks volumes of the tears and dashed hopes you created.
Yeah dude, it’s a great game; but no way is it even in the top 15 JRPGs I’ve ever played
I was waiting for someone to say FF7 remake is overrated. Even tho I don’t think it is
007 WAS good in it's time, but people claiming it held up even to now?
I highly recommend checking out Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. They are by far the best Pokemon games ever made
I have the game, I got it with my modded 3ds, but I don't know (actual cartridge). @@dukey03
Bro. I swear bro. Souls games are good. The plots are vague so that means they are deep.. Trust me bro..The games get great after you die the millionth time!!!
the only rpg i like is pokemon but the last few have been weak
