That's what made it great. At some point you get sick of hearing stories about all powerful Sith and Jedi and want a nice, simple story about a plastic surgeon and his walrus sidekick.
@@theMPrints This is so exaggerated. There’s literally this book, one about Jabba’s Palace, and one about the Bounty Hunters. These 3 books give the EU the reputation it has of giving everything an origin story or backstory but that’s so overblown.

I was watching A New Hope yesterday and when the cantina scene started I wondered if anyone had made a video about all of the aliens in the cantina, so this video coming out 1 day later is awesome
The Star Wars Universe “under-utilized” the Shistavanen (wolf creatures). Those beings should have had a much bigger presence.

This is a FANTASTIC analysis of the unique creatures in the original Star Wars film!! I was able to see this original film of 1977 a total of 42 times in the theaters!! Remember, this was when it was IMPOSSIBLE to view at HOME, because videocassette recorders had not been invented yet!! 😑Also, movie tickets were only $4 each back then!

Aqualish was originally simply known as "Walrus Man" when the first line of action figures by Kenner hit the stores in 1977 and was really one of the cooler first ones released. Many of us saw the action figures before we either saw or comprehended the movie.

The Arcona is the fourth alien. The first three were already on screen by the time he stood up IN FRONT OF THEM.

It's explained in a short story from A Certain Point of View collection that the bar keeper's droid prejudice was due to his family being murdered in the Clone Wars by Commando Droids.
the reason why wuher keeps droids out of the cantina is because some of them emit sounds too high for humans to hear but some creatures such as tauntauns can hear them

For those of you who are curious why Ponda Baba bled when Obi-Wan cut off his arm: Aqualish were an arachnid-like species. Like arachnids, they had large blood sacks rather than veins and other blood vessels. When his arm was cut off, it began to cauterize like most lightsaber wounds, but the size of the blood vessels caused the cauterization to be useless, therefore allowing it to bleed.

Defels and Shistavanians may be related as much as Kel-Dor are with Gand and Tognath. Biologically they might be were close, since they are both canine'esque mammals, they might even be able to breed with each other, but im not sure about it, and they are definately not the sub-species of each other as far as i know.

19 years ago from A New Hope, a droid army nearly conquered the galaxy. Maybe he was orphaned in the clone wars. Even if was old enough to live on his own he is still a orphan if his parents died. That is why I think he hates droids.
