Just imagine if Disney (or who might buy Star Wars from them in the future) decided to get together a team of super dedicated fans turned staff and have them make a complete encyclopedia. Every single character. Every single species. Every single ship. Every single location. No matter how obscure or unimportant. That would be an instant fan favorite book among the fans. Much of the sequels takes place in the Western reaches, which is on the fringe of settled space and near wild space, where the First Order emerged from. So it makes sense that a bunch of rare species would be in and around these events.

It had been 40 years since he was last spotted online. To bring stability to this grim future we faced without him, many of his fans flocked to other youtubers, in hopes for finding the same joy he brought them. Occasionally, his name might have been brought up, in passing remark, or whilst honouring the legends that came before. However, these mentions, these "glitches" almost, became less frequent, and we began to loss hope of a future when he would return. I however, I remained hopeful, hopeful of this future, for many years. Until now, this evening, when I heard a familiar voice. It was then I released. That future I hoped for, that future that saw his return. It was now. The Future is Now. Welcome back DT.
I had the pleasure of meeting Timothy Zahn at a convention last summer, and one of my most pressing questions for him was what did three of the Unknown Regions aliens featured in his Ascendency Trilogy look like -- the Paccosh, Garwian and Vak, allies of Thrawn who came to help him (of their own accord) in the final battle of the trilogy. TZ's rather diplomatic answer was that he *didn't* have a clear mental picture of them, and that they looked like whatever we, the readers, envisioned them as. A little frustrating as a fan writer, but one of the others in my writing group came up with some beautiful concept art of the Paccosh, so I'm going with that. It would be nice to see them on-screen (or in a comic) at some point though. In my AU, all three stay allied with one another after Thrawn's exile, and become a new faction called the "Sunrise Alliance", after the planet over which the battle took place. This is highly unusual for the usually-isolationist Unknown Regions cultures. Then, shortly after 6 ABY, the Sunrise Alliance joins their old ally again, becoming proud members of the Empire of the Hand. TZ himself said he still considers all his "old" Legends stories canon, and writes his newer books with the idea in mind that Disney can "re-canonize" them at any time. Who am I to disagree with him? Anyway, it's nice to see I'm not the only one who cares about these little details! I feel vaildated! I've also added your friend's alien directory to my writing group's references, so thank you for that!
An alien species I really liked were the Togorians, first introduced in the Han Solo trilogy. They were massive bipedal tiger beings. I really would have liked to see them in live action. I think the closest we got were the Pantorans.

I think my favorite Star Wars alien has to be that one pod racer that crashes into the stalactite Had a deleted scene where he said goodbye to his wife and kids
I really loved this video and learned alot, you got my subscription! An alien I'd love to see in love action or animation is an ortolan who isn't Max rebo walking around in their Canon form where they don't have arms and play instruments with their feet. As for why there were all new aliens for the sequels, they probably wanted to give the designers a chance to create their own aliens to mirror the magic of the original trilogy where most aliens were new designs in each film
Awesome video! I'm the guy from the Selkath tweet. My favorite obscure species is the Balnab from Clone Wars, which I think isn't their true species name PS: Sorry it took me so long to watch the video 😅
I don't mind how common humans and Twi'Lek are. We know what our RL world population is like, and I think Twi'Lek are used as the other "Breeds pretty fast Humanoid" and is also spread for an alternate reason to human colonial spread (i.e. Twi'Leks got spread by slavery). But on one detail in this video, I really appreciate how the new TV shows are using creatures from previously made pieces of canon. Similar to the Dor Namethian, I appreciate how the Anzellans were used again in "The Mandalorian". I love how Mother Talzin was based on a piece of concept art from when they were trying to invent Maul, and then she was made Maul's mother (or at least the Great Mother of his birth community, because I know Legends has a different Nightsister as his mother), and the whole idea that Maul is Dathomiri, bringing back a culture first introduced in a novel as well (and went on to a major second-gen character who was half-Dathomiri - yes I am talking about Tenel Ka). I appreciate how Clone Wars highlighted as many Jedi as they could. Rebels gave us a major character who was a Twi'Lek who was not playing the "Sexy Alien Woman" role, the live action shows brought animated characters to life, while also really adhering to the OT aesthetic (the OT tried not to be Late 70s, but Late 70s slipped through, and the shows replicated it).
Star Wars Aliens are Awesome except for the universe's most annoying JarJar Binks. And on a side note Whoever designs StarTrek aliens must be fascinated with Genitals , almost every alien species in Star Trek look disturbingly wrong.
Honestly I very much dislike the execution of the sequels for the most part, other than the aesthetic choices they made (excluding retreading nostalgia, like why still tie fighters) but honestly I love most of the alien designs. Also sorry if this makes no sense I haven't slept in 48 hours
That’s why I highlighted the fact that this is more so the effort of those who connect these details, and I appreciate them for that. The Star Wars universe operates on retcons.
I still can’t like last jedi. Visually it’s fine, and on paper the story is decent, but the execution killed it for me. However, credit where it’s due, I did like the visuals, and seeing the new aliens
The problem with the sequels is that a lot of the aliens they made for the sequals, is thay they made them because most of the aliens thay didnt feature in the OG trilogoy are actually licensed. IE disney would have to pay someone for their intellectual property, which based on how much fan art they have stolen for their comics line and the last god awful movie, is quite unlikely. Its why i dont watch any of the disney shit is because they did what lucas never did, they fucked people over
I'm sorry to tell you, this was not someone caring about detail. They have a list already, created many years ago with all the alien species, planets, characters, named and unnamed from all of the sources. They can simply choose randomly from the list of stuff that hasn't been used in movies. This was clearly an attempt to use that species, they made a new concept art and someone else made the animatronic in another department, which resulted in that bad adaptation you see. The sequels are not as romantic and artistic as one might think.
I disagree. Yes it was intended to be a new species, but still- SOMEBODY noticed that and cared enough to make a new species name that referenced the original description.
@@StarWarsCentralized No one noticed that from a rare card my man. They just have list excell command "stuff we haven't used". Look into interviews from the people at Disney's Lucasfilm about how they don't have time or resources to invest artistically the way they want and how disconnected everyone is from each other. Just look at the Pykes, Ahsoka, Cad Bane, Chewbacca, Luke, the Inquisitors. They can't even make them cohesive to the original version or any version. It's like a different universe now.
So what I'm hearing is that we need a Disneyplus series about the story of Lexo Sooger and his adopted human daughter.

@@StarWarsCentralized was a great video! have a nice day
You too!!
@@StarWarsCentralized Thank you!
Bro, retcons don't count! The only intentional EU pull would be Thrawn in this list.
Well they do in the context of this video!
@@StarWarsCentralized I disagree, new things should have new names. If someone wants to adapt an old EU species they should do it intentionally.
That’s why I highlighted the fact that this is more so the effort of those who connect these details, and I appreciate them for that. The Star Wars universe operates on retcons.
You sound so much like Ted ed
How old are you?
I still can’t like last jedi. Visually it’s fine, and on paper the story is decent, but the execution killed it for me. However, credit where it’s due, I did like the visuals, and seeing the new aliens
I understand, that’s totally fine and good!

Its why i dont watch any of the disney shit is because they did what lucas never did, they fucked people over
What do you mean they license aliens?
incorrect, the most obscure is Marfalump
Love the Lump
@@StarWarsCentralized they should recanonise him
I'm sorry to tell you, this was not someone caring about detail.
The sequels have some amazing love and care put into them
@@StarWarsCentralized No one noticed that from a rare card my man.
