Yeah I prefer the slightly more solid frame rate on the PS4 Pro since its patch. Resolution is lesser than the X but it just feels more fluid overall, especially doing heavy fight scenes. Just because the X can push higher resolutions doesn't mean it should. Because then game play often suffers

For an open world game, It still looks quite impressive considering it's on outdated hardware.....especially the opening battle scene with King Leonidas, it looks pretty on par with Ryse, and that says a lot about how far we've come in terms of optimization when an you can easily compare an open world game to a linear more focused one
My thing is, why not make that dynamic resolution more aggressive so we can get a locked 30? I’d much rather have 1440p locked 30 than every once in a blue moon 4K 28-30 FPS.

But they have the same pop up object in a drawdistance overall, almost the same..according to may intial test on my ps4 pro and xbox one x...but the xbox one x has further shadow in a draw distance,. If you look closely the draw distance is very identical between pro and x but the only difference is the shadow in a far distance..xbox can handle far shadow on a far draw distance than pro
I've only played it on X so far, but the ground textures looked just fine to me. Perhaps they were referring to the less than noticable bump mapping or whatever its called thesedays, the textures looked high detail but with little dimensionality.

This Sdr video doesn't give the visuals any justice, been playing on ps4 pro on a 65" 4k tv in Hdr and my jaw is constantly dropping. This is hands down the best AC game, Origins was incredible and they took it to another level with this one. How is that even possible?
The X does seem to have the resolution advantage in most games but what does that really amount to when the actual content represented in those pixels is pretty much identical. We’re now also operating at such high resolutions that the differences between different resolutions are that much harder to spot. Considering screensize vs viewing distance in most living rooms I’d say the difference between 1440p and true 4k is negligible to all but the most trained eyes.
I hope they make another video. I am interested how close it gets to 4k 60 now, or if there are any differences with other setting (it is hard to tell).

This game looks like Origins to me. All the footage I've seen looks like minimal changes to the same terrain and locations. To me, explains how they were able to pump it out so fast after Origins.

That's why everything in this game is improved over Origins. They took the feedback and experience from Origins and made a better game. The world is also totally different. Some assets are reused, but it feels nothing like Origins.
I think you should maybe prioritize analyzing the base systems first since the results in terms of framework, resolution and aa may be a little more interesting and those are the consoles most people have, so you would possibly win a tad bit more views…

Excited for the game but can't decide whether to get it on PC or PS4 Pro. I played Origins on PC and loved the game but performance was not great even with a 1080Ti card. The more annoying issue for me were the frequent crashes. I'm tempted to go with the slightly inferior console version for improved stability.
I see Ubisoft still maintains the tradition of never let console gamers play AC games at 60fps (well except for the Chronicle series which is a 2D side scroller)

Only thing that I have issue with is the loading on the pro. Other than that it looks fine on my tv.... beautiful looking. It seems every AC game falls apart when you look at the minor details. Good geometry as always but consistently low res textures. Almost like.. they’re rushing the series every year.
I had an issue with origins, I don't know if it is the same on Odyssey. I have an OLED tv for gaming, most games now offer a HUD turn off, origins had it but whenever i had 1level up point a sign of it was displayed that wasn't able to turn off until i had enough for a power up. The dinamic hud hides almost everything but this level sign. This is dangerous for burn-in. But the game was too beautiful for me to go back to an old TV

I'm an Xbox fan but I'm no boy. I know a lot of older Xbox fans my age 32 that like one and done games, the problem is we can't any good ones from Microsoft, they give us crap like recore intead of God of war type games, that's why I have a ps4 pro also to feed my need for good single player games.

Their entire strategic war structure was centered around the shield.........if a Spartan lost his shield, there was no greater shame. I thought the shield combat was good in the last game. So its very odd to me that they removed it in a game set in a period where they literally worshipped the shield. Craziness....
Strange part is they mentioned in a mission, about the shame a Spartan felt if he lost his shield. The NPCs had them, but I suppose since the PC was not a Spartan soldier, but rather a Spartan mercenary, they opted to remove it. Imo, they should have let you use a shield, or if you did not want to, have an option for that as well.
I'm used to playing 20 FPS New Vegas, so 28-30 FPS on consoles are no big deal for me. I'm not rich, so I can't afford two computers one for streaming one for gaming, hell I can't even afford one for gaming yet since I'm unemployed. It's like people complaining that their game goes below 120 HZ, I don't see why they do. What's the dif between 120 and 60? I'm used to playing games at 25-30 FPS. Honestly if consoles could just hit stable 45, or at least be "unlocked" at 60 even if they drop below 50, I don't care. I don't notice those kinds of drops, I could make due with every game just hitting a stable 45 like Second Son did.

Consoles need FreeSync asap, there isn't a hardware limiting factor because the GPU is GCN4 and Freesync 2 works throght HDMI now, so TV manufacturer can implement that feature. In low framerate scenarios the difference is huge

I do not solve the resolution. I play on full HD Oled TV and this console generation is the only resolution that the current generation of consoles can handle without any problems. Yes most multiplats will look better on the X, its a newer more expensive machine. But unless your comparing ps4 pro and x side by side you probably wont be able to see much of a difference. If you can only afford one console the ps4 pro is the better choice, way better exclusives while being only slightly less powerful than X. There's really not a reason to own an X as most exclusives are on pc and all multiplats will be better on Pc.
Wut It Do You tell people to get a PS4 for exclusives but do you not know that everyone who plays Ps4 play multiplats more? Then most exclusives are single player games, which have no replay value. Multiplats are games you can play over and over with friends or alone. Half of the exclusives sony put out are worthless now. That exclusive word can only go so far.

Other than that, prioritizing slight graphics improvements over largely the same experiences plus exclusive ones is silly. Also, the graphical difference will be superseded soon on next gen consoles in 1-2 years, 3 max, and these games will probably be ported over and remastered (which if the games were so great to begin with will be worth replaying). I think it's generally a toss up and down to individual preferences in exclusives as well as how much free time you have to play games (if you need more games to play then quantity of exclusives, or their replayability, might matter more than quality) and which console your friends have (if online play with friends is important to you). I'm honestly overwhelmed trying to keep up with all these games on either console (I have both and have yet to play Spiderman, God of War, Detroit, or Bloodborne and then I'm getting some multiplats on Xbox if they look better according to the comparison vids I'm watching though it is mostly* a toss up, except for the black out on Odyssey for PS4 Pro). Owning either console is a blessing, whatever slight pains they may bring.

The differences are very visible if you ply them side by side. On UA-cam it’s all compressed.

It's held back by the CPU. A game like this with tons of AI can't compare to Forza Horizon with hardly any AI at all.

This Sdr video doesn't give the visuals any justice, been playing on ps4 pro on a 65" 4k tv in Hdr and my jaw is constantly dropping. This is hands down the best AC game, Origins was incredible and they took it to another level with this one. How is that even possible?
And this is why i bought the Xb1x for my 4k oled.
Realistically tho, the eagle shouldn’t cast a shadow, let alone a crisp shadow onto the ground.
The X does seem to have the resolution advantage in most games but what does that really amount to when the actual content represented in those pixels is pretty much identical. We’re now also operating at such high resolutions that the differences between different resolutions are that much harder to spot. Considering screensize vs viewing distance in most living rooms I’d say the difference between 1440p and true 4k is negligible to all but the most trained eyes.
Glad to see this game finally get a 60 fps patch today.
I hope they make another video. I am interested how close it gets to 4k 60 now, or if there are any differences with other setting (it is hard to tell).

I hate how they nerfed the Character animations and graphical fidelity after Unity, Unity for it's time was a drop dead gorgeous games at times (without bugs), Unity still is heads and shoulders above Origins and Odyssey and it's crazy everything looked and played better in Unity

This game looks like Origins to me. All the footage I've seen looks like minimal changes to the same terrain and locations. To me, explains how they were able to pump it out so fast after Origins.

Wookie Groomer This game has 3 years of development just like Origins had. The team started working on this one one year later and worked closely with the Origins team. That's why everything in this game is improved over Origins. They took the feedback and experience from Origins and made a better game. The world is also totally different. Some assets are reused, but it feels nothing like Origins.

I think you should maybe prioritize analyzing the base systems first since the results in terms of framework, resolution and aa may be a little more interesting and those are the consoles most people have, so you would possibly win a tad bit more views…

Excited for the game but can't decide whether to get it on PC or PS4 Pro. I played Origins on PC and loved the game but performance was not great even with a 1080Ti card. The more annoying issue for me were the frequent crashes. I'm tempted to go with the slightly inferior console version for improved stability.
I got Xbox One X since Pro just upscales to 4K and is slower.

I had an issue with origins, I don't know if it is the same on Odyssey.
I have an OLED tv for gaming, most games now offer a HUD turn off, origins had it but whenever i had 1level up point a sign of it was displayed that wasn't able to turn off until i had enough for a power up.
The dinamic hud hides almost everything but this level sign.
This is dangerous for burn-in.
But the game was too beautiful for me to go back to an old TV
So only 30fps on both and no performance mode not even on the x 😩

A Spartan/Athenian without a shield? Funny. Did they not do their history homework? They valued the shield over any weapon. Their entire strategic war structure was centered around the shield.........if a Spartan lost his shield, there was no greater shame.
I thought the shield combat was good in the last game. So its very odd to me that they removed it in a game set in a period where they literally worshipped the shield. Craziness....
Strange part is they mentioned in a mission, about the shame a Spartan felt if he lost his shield. The NPCs had them, but I suppose since the PC was not a Spartan soldier, but rather a Spartan mercenary, they opted to remove it. Imo, they should have let you use a shield, or if you did not want to, have an option for that as well.

I'm used to playing 20 FPS New Vegas, so 28-30 FPS on consoles are no big deal for me. I'm not rich, so I can't afford two computers one for streaming one for gaming, hell I can't even afford one for gaming yet since I'm unemployed. It's like people complaining that their game goes below 120 HZ, I don't see why they do. What's the dif between 120 and 60? I'm used to playing games at 25-30 FPS.
Honestly if consoles could just hit stable 45, or at least be "unlocked" at 60 even if they drop below 50, I don't care. I don't notice those kinds of drops, I could make due with every game just hitting a stable 45 like Second Son did.

Consoles need FreeSync asap, there isn't a hardware limiting factor because the GPU is GCN4 and Freesync 2 works throght HDMI now, so TV manufacturer can implement that feature. In low framerate scenarios the difference is huge

I do not solve the resolution. I play on full HD Oled TV and this console generation is the only resolution that the current generation of consoles can handle without any problems. Yes most multiplats will look better on the X, its a newer more expensive machine. But unless your comparing ps4 pro and x side by side you probably wont be able to see much of a difference. If you can only afford one console the ps4 pro is the better choice, way better exclusives while being only slightly less powerful than X. There's really not a reason to own an X as most exclusives are on pc and all multiplats will be better on Pc.
Wut It Do You tell people to get a PS4 for exclusives but do you not know that everyone who plays Ps4 play multiplats more? Then most exclusives are single player games, which have no replay value. Multiplats are games you can play over and over with friends or alone. Half of the exclusives sony put out are worthless now. That exclusive word can only go so far.

Other than that, prioritizing slight graphics improvements over largely the same experiences plus exclusive ones is silly. Also, the graphical difference will be superseded soon on next gen consoles in 1-2 years, 3 max, and these games will probably be ported over and remastered (which if the games were so great to begin with will be worth replaying). I think it's generally a toss up and down to individual preferences in exclusives as well as how much free time you have to play games (if you need more games to play then quantity of exclusives, or their replayability, might matter more than quality) and which console your friends have (if online play with friends is important to you). I'm honestly overwhelmed trying to keep up with all these games on either console (I have both and have yet to play Spiderman, God of War, Detroit, or Bloodborne and then I'm getting some multiplats on Xbox if they look better according to the comparison vids I'm watching though it is mostly* a toss up, except for the black out on Odyssey for PS4 Pro). Owning either console is a blessing, whatever slight pains they may bring.

Hi. Can someone help clear up a misunderstanding about freesync functionality for me? If you connect a freesync monitor up to an Xbox one x, and fire up a game that runs at a locked 30fps, does having freesync magically make it run at 60fps? I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, right?
