My neighborhood got a 4 foot storm surge but thank god my garage door, outside doors, and windows were all Hurricane proof and i had a flood barrier too. But only problem was my husband was on shelter duty and he got a storm surge too but thankfully the doors and windows to the cafeteria at the school he teaches are all hurricane proff too. But i was still worried while be left to protect my mom (a 95 year old holocaust survivor) and kids
I'm in Melrose, Fl, between Gainesville and Palatka. It's 11:27 am Wed and I have no more rain but getting wind gusts. I have century old oaks on my property and hanging over the house. No downed limbs but plenty of moss on the ground.
Looks like the center missed you guys.
I'm in southwest florida and it's been windy, still is and everyone's trash cans are blowing around.
The center is like 400+ miles away from here so I think it's pretty crazy that we still have this wind.

Strong downdraft usually appears with thunderstorms,sometimes we catch a glimpse of these storms in summer and spring in the United Arab Emirates

You just go right into it !! First place I come to for hurricane footage I live near downtown Tampa and it was pretty subtle here

As an old lady in Utah I have 2 thoughts.... first, how many gray hairs and sleepless nights does your mom have???...and second, I'm totally content in my land locked state cursing terrible winters and a few avalanches (with an occasional earthquake). Absolutely ferocious eyewall! Looks like a lot of mesovortex action with this storm. Tampa Bay area certainly got lucky with this making landfall in the more rural Big Bend area

I used to live in Florida but after hurricane Andrew and a meter and a half of water on my house and thousands lost left long ago, now in Europe where is almost boring, nothing happens other than wind and an ocacional storm with thunder oh and summers with 45 celsius,nah I do not miss hurricane season be safe out there!
