  • Welcome to Raf's Rocks! In this video, I visit three different locations in search of minerals: Titanite Hill (a.k.a. Gibson Rd Occurrence), Desmond Mine, and the Grace Lake Occurrence. I also go over some basic tips and essentials for those looking to get into this hobby!
Welcome to my channel! I hope you enjoy!

Very good video I especially like the tremolite crystal you found at the end of your video, I have been to Grace Lake area several times, that green tremolite fascinates me, never minding it's asbestos, I call it good asbestos. It is really jade when compacted. Also at Grace Lake, if you reach your hand in the cracks in the rock at the lake water edge, on your left as you drive north, just before you reach the holes under the trees where rock hounds have dug to find tremolite crystals, the gravel you pull up in your hand has so many free pyrite crystals.

If you want to get rid of the rusty residue I recommend Iron Out. Let your specimens soak in it for 2-7 days then give them a good scrub, depending on how caked on the stuff is you might have soak it twice.

What does the titanite look like in the hornblende cluster @29:10? Is it just a more lustrous face?

Oxygen is more important than any type of crystal or metal you would be finding. STOP CUTTING TREE ROOTS!!! It is actually against the law to kill trees on public land.
