- Join me and Caver461 for two days of rockhounding and crystal prospecting fun in the Bancroft area. We visit numerous sites including Titanite Hill, Miller Property, Schickler Occurrence and a few other spots including one with crystals as big as a football!!! If your into lapidary, crystals, gems and or rocks in general this video is for you and will show you some great locations in Southern Ontario for collecting.
Collect, rock hound, explore, dig and hike at your own risk.
it’s me. i want the Mica.
Edit: my eyes popped out of my head at the book you found in the trench!
At last! The Duo is back together! GREAT finds and GREAT video. Welcome back, Mick! You WERE missed! Good job, Jeff!! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Hey Jeff, my 4 year old is a fan. Can we ever go on a hounding trip with you around Bancroft? It would blow the kid's mind
I always keep a few mica specimens .
Kids love em , something intriguing about a rock that can be peeled and folded .
I am still looking for a really good Mica specimen, perhaps I am too picky when out collecting!!!
Awesome video :)
Nice to see the band getting back together for a “classic rock” tour!
Thanks and hopefully more trips soon.
Very nice and interesting video, as always. Good to see Mick, Mr Gordon, on His feet again. Greetings from Sweden
Ahhhh man, 3:54 you’ve already unearthed some beauties, but there he is! Caver! I can’t tell you how many of his videos I’ve spent hrs watching. So so much respect for this man and his knowledge.
I love the ruggedness of these types of crystals. They’ve gotta be so cool to hold.
It is a bit of an experience to see a crystal that big.
Great video guy's!
That huge crystal is the star for sure!!!!!!
Crazy crystals! Wow, awesome.
Thanks, there were some good finds on this outing.
that big slab should be in a museum
Hey good vid Jeff been watching you for years on Mick's channel don't know how it took me so long to find yours, but I'm here now. Looking forward to viewing all your posted vids.
ATB james
Glad you joined the club and hope you enjoy the vids going forward.
I like how you explain fragile...
I like to give my crystals a breakage test. I try to break them and if they break they are fragile, lol.
Nice finds Jeff, those apatites are very cool!
They are and I think there may some more far down at the bottom of that hole I was working on, if someone is willing to put in the effort.
@@OffTheBeatenPath1 I hope on visiting the miller property this summer so who knows 😉
I have never been rockhounding but I want to SO bad. If I can find q friend to go to Bankcroft I wanna go this summer ! Incredible.
Make the trip to Bancroft, the are is nice and there are a bunch of collecting spots to visit.
hey buddy ... the micster
Some very cool finds! I'm glad I found your channel and had to Subscribe!
Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the videos.
Perhaps a large sprayer with hot soapy water would help break the crystals loose
3:00 thats some wonderful termination! brilliant!
Its a real sharp point. The spot I found that crystal at needs to be dug some more, definitely more to be found there.
Excellent video! Great finds
Thankyou. Glad you enjoyed my mineral trip video collage.
Nice to see you guys back . Beautiful finds
Thanks. We have another trip planed in a few weeks, time to dig!!!
Zang yo, that was a beautiful find, that green, mmmm
Lol, the Apatite Crystals are a very deeeeeeeep green. Personally I like the red and green combos.
Nice finds!!!
Thanks, hopefully it's still there for the next person to look at.
Hey Mick welcome back . Thanks for sharing
My pleasure, glad you enjoy the videos.
Can I come next time?! 🥺 I'm right outside of eganville. 😂
Wow cool tho see you too again. Nice!
Hopefully more mineral trips sooner rather than later ; )
Great video Jeff
Thanks Mr. Caver.
Found your video/channel today.
You tossed that mica because {as you said} there`s lots up there, and I was like 😮bad surprised☹ watching from Florida because we have lots of ............ sand.
I like mica!
We have too much Mica at times. That stuff gets on everything and is a pain to clean up, but I would still like a well formed crystal of it.
Took my first trip to Tory Hill. What an amazing place. It was a little overwhelming though. Lol. Thank you so much for the great videos.
It can be, just find one spot and start digging otherwise you will spend all day walking and starting little holes for everyone else.
@@OffTheBeatenPath1 ever find anything on the other side of the hill toward the lake?
I’ve stayed at the inn and suites a few times. Late September early October is my favorite time in that area.
Its always clean there and its the perfect location for rockhounding.
Great video, and day spent in nayure. Tell me any chance to get one small apatite from that side of world (buy link)
Gorgeous double termed app 👍🏻
It's a beast of a crystal, hopefully it survives for a while.
Hi Jeff, good to see you out and amongst them again and your partner in crime,Mike.
Firstly I must say that you Canadians must have big foot balls, up there in Ontario. The crystals in that small gorge are gigantic.
Some of those pieces you dug out are really great looking crystals, great colour and shape. I hope you continue to find such great pieces, even if I am a tad jealous. Keep Safe & KeepnRockin
The good old Canadian vs American football size debate. Thanks for the compliments.
@@OffTheBeatenPath1 😂😂not American Jeff, a bit further south, down under in Australia. 👍
There are so many puns that can be made about your size of your balls up there but I won’t stoop to that kind of humour. 😂😂😂😂
Hi there, just looking for feedback. I'm wondering how many folks would be interested in lodging, tent site....40m North of Bancroft, between Plamer Rapids and Denbigh? 9 min from Schutt (close to numerus sites); We like rocks enough to name our goats after a few.
Hi guys nice meeting you that day! I want to invite you both to rockhound at my private event October 2nd - pink marble quarries in Eldorado!
I was not able to make it. I know MeMiner was there, did he find anything good???????
I’m gonna try to go tomorrow ❤️
Get out there before the bugs do!!
🤩👏
Whereabouts did you find those gargantuan crystals? I tried to find it last time, but I started getting a little lost as I was wandering off the trails 😂
Tuyệt
I would love to see you guys find some gem material.
Me too, lol. Micks into the gems more than I am. I enjoy the hunt and digging the crystals out of the ground the best.
Do you have the exact Coordinates To the location you found most of those crystals? I have been a rock hounder for years and have been looking for decent spots.. only have a year or so left before i cant anymore.. And I would like to try and add some larger specimens to my collection. Im close to peterborough
Hi Jeff. Do you know any tours in Bancroft that also include collecting? Beginner here!
Just do a search of the internet, I believe there ae a few rock shops that organize trips to some of the local sites.
Welcome back.Woah look at the size of those apatites!
If you collect 4 pieces of mica you’ll have Formica !!!
lol
Your channel is amazing. I’ll be in Ontario in 2 weeks. How can I collect at these spots or are they private locations?
Titanite hill and Schickler are open to the public, Schickler you need to sign a waver online to get access.
I want to go but i don't know where it is in canada
Wish I had someone to do this with - looks so fun but I’m too scared of bears and whatnot to go solo.
Please educate yourself about bears. They are harmless, you have a better chance of being struck by lightning than being attacked by a bear.
Salam satu hoby
Hi there ! I’m from Welland Ontario . I’m very new to rockhounding but have found some interesting things I was wondering if you could help me identify .
Mindat is a great site to check out for mineral identification any any other mineral related questions. The chat boards on the site are excellent.
What are the costs / fees associated to rockhounding in Bankcroft ? Is it like $50/bucket or something?
Titanite Hill is free and The Schickler Mine in Wilberforce is free but you need to sign a waiver online at the Municipality of Highlands East website. The Mindat website is a great resource to finding collecting sites and the associated costa and or access questions. Cheers.
Great finds Jeff but I have to ask, what is a Canadian football?? 😂🤣
Dude, a CFL football is bigger than an NFL American football, our balls are bigger!
@@OffTheBeatenPath1 They used to be. Not the case anymore, they are the same. 😂
@@CoinandRelicOntario Dam I must be getting old. So then Johnny Football sucking up here had nothing to do with ball size, he just sucked naturally lol.
@@OffTheBeatenPath1 I guess so!! LMAO!!
Were these visits Fall 2021 or Spring 2022?
This year, just last week.
While I enjoy seeing great crystals etc, I wish some of these guys would not be so greedy.
Thanks for NOT leaving anything for anyone else.
????? The big crystal is still there ?????
Do you sell the crystals or keep em
I have not got into selling them yet, but as they start building up they may need to go somewhere.
