Love Bill Maher! Been a fan of Bill Maher since I was a freshman in High School and I'm 25 now, just over 10 years! I've seen this interview a few times over the past 2 years and it never gets old!
Just stumbled across George today, I'm so glad I did, he's a terrific interviewer, refreshingly interesting questions, friendly and laid back approach brings out the best in the interviewee
He keeps joking that Stroumbo is a psychiatrist, but Stroumbo's ability to gently interrogate his guests is what makes him so good at this. His interviews are never bland.
Brilliant free flowing conversation. Add food a few more intellectuals remove the cameras and this is what life could be like if you throw out your TV and start to think critically!
The rarest things in 2018 are real Rock and Roll songs, and interviewers that succinctly ask a brief question and allow the guest to speak and entertain. Thank you for posting.
true, lots of Americans think socialism is equal to communism. When they think about socialism they think about Mao Zedong, Lenin, North Korea, ...which is not true at all. You can have a liberal, democratic society with socialism. It's a matter of moderation and common sense.
+machia0705 Absolute conservatism and absolute capitalism isn't though. Mixed market social-capital system that began after the disaster of near unfettered capitalism of the 1800's and early 1900's was replaced in the US by mixed market system. Other countries began mixed market practices at various times. Common sense is to utilize what works, and what works isn't a black and white ideology. But a mix of things based on logical premises. The US is a social country, and has ever gone more social. First by the vote, of statesmen, then increasing so by the vote of all men regardless of property ownership, then universal suffrage including women, public schools, public universities, public streets and road ways, ports, libraries, restrooms, parks, etc. Then right to labor to unionize which wasn't realized until 1935 until then many massacres took place between the so called lawmen of the oligarch and workers known mostly as the coal wars from 1875 to 1935. Then social security with the very name of social in the policy in the 40's. To medicare in the 60's. Then medicaid in the 70's. And ever growing public transit systems from subways, buses, street cars, etc. some privately owned some publicly owned. Utilities, some privately owned always publicly regulated, some still publicly owned. Mixed market structure is what has given most developed countries the defining prosperity to be called developed.
+jmitterii2 You conveniently left out the "Great Depression" of the 1920's -1940's and all the other economic downturns afterwards. Less I forget the US Government with your mixed market/government economic social system has produced what is it now, like almost 19 TRILLION in national debt? Yep! and will keep getting larger and larger and the currency will keep getting further and further inflated. Only reason the US mixed market social system hasn't fully crashed all the way is the US dollar is still the world's most traded currency and we trick/bully other nations in to buying our Government debt. That is coming to a rude close pretty quick since the establishment of the BRICS system of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and the dozens of other nations joining the BRICS. The only problem is and will always be the only problem of "Political Corruption".
.. brilliant George ... the best interviewer these days ... Brian Linehan-esque ... gets the best juice from guests, ... well done Bill ... [peace ....
Wow. Great interview! Kudos to George and Bill. I'm down South in the states so this is my first time seeing George. He and Bill flow quite well. And what a guy Bill... huh. Smart, edgy with a sharp wit. Thanks for posting!
+Krista he isn't speaking to even 1% of Americans due to lack of access of the majority of people in this country. If you believe everyone here has HBO, cable, or even a tv, you're sadly mistaken. 1.8 million viewers per week for him doesn't even win his time slot, lead by Gold Rush with 2.6 million. (last available figures from Jan. 2018)
George, you rock. Soooo good. Glad you are the one taking over Canada's institution......hockey. Despite the conglomerate overlord, you just are awesome. Well done. Stay true.
***** eastwood made two movies with an orangutan and now talks to chairs, deniro has been in more shit movies like bullwinkle than good ones at this point, he just finished filming 'dirty grandpa' with zac efron, boy where do we get our tickets
Stoney Lonsome just cause they're better than honey boo boo and did some shit once (deniro did anyway) doesn't mean we should admire them... just because you're famous and old doesn't mean you get to suck ass
bill maher is one of the most intelligent people in the media today. maybe this ages mark twain. he can be a little abrasive sometimes but look at some of the idiots he interviews..... i would be a raving maniac
randy rysdaleHe is quick witted most comedians are.He also has a down to earth look at what is going on in the world. He is right about Fox,you got to be out of your mind to believe their nonsense. We have the equivalent here in the U.K.Called SKY.The right wing champion.
we all have our crosses to bare, at least with bill you can get an honest informed opinion. and if you can give him a reasonable argument he will listen, although changing his mind is usually pretty tough lol
+green323turbo Bill really IS superior, because he is very well-read and well-informed. The problem with about 25% of the people in the U.S. is that they are not.
Bill Maher is just interesting, no matter who he is with. He picked up where George Carlin and Andy Rooney left off; very intelligent, very passionate, and very funny. He is a forward-thinker. This was a very candid interview, although I don't think Mr George S. has great interviewing skills at this point (talks too fast, for one thing). Although he did allow Bill Maher to give complete answers...and that's a good thing.
I just heard that bees have been placed on the endangered species list. Bill certainly, hit the nail on the head. Although, he knew then, that our climate is changing and treatment of the earth is deplorable. I love this man, and most everything he says. The truth.
This was terrific! I think Bill should run for President, but it would be too stressful for him at this point. Let's see what the 25 year olds can do with this mess the country is in! I have hope for Bernie and so do they. Let's see how that goes!!
This is a great interview. I stand by what Bill Maher says not because I follow him blindly but because what he says I already believe. I'm just not the talented enough to speak in public like he does.
+jahsilent1 I think it's important that those Americans reading get some understanding of the perspective which very many people outside of America have of it. Truth is truth, we don't have to like the source.
Now that's how an interview is done!! We'll done Strombo. Bill tried to take the wind out of your sails about half way through but you held strong and killed it. Now your going to host Hockey. WAAAAA?
George is far too thoughtful and insightful and not nearly "showbiz" and vapid enough to be a major interviewer. He's too deep, too thoughtful and too intelligent. That's the sad state of the world today.
Isn't that the truth Jwest. He seems to just care way to much. And to much research. I guess that's why he got cancelled. We still love him in Canada though. He's our boyfriend!! Really really good interviewer. We so appreciate him in the Great White North.
Yea, the sad part is that if he were young and just starting out, he would get nowhere if he didn't sell out. There are plenty of other comics that are funny, but not funny and subversive in the way George is.
Mäher's life was affected by growing up in the household of a newsman. This does influence the children; my husband had a long career in radio, newspapers, and television and I can see the influence of this profession on the mentality of our children. They work in other professions but their interest in knowing about the world stems at least partly from the attitude towards truth that prevailed in our household.
I enjoyed church in school, to me it was like a place for magic. Big church, nice painting as an artist, thinking about it now, i am happy that i saw many churches from the inside(exmoslem here) and I really enjoyed being a part of a larger group that didn't discriminated me as a child. I had a lucky life and I hope today's children don't get disturbed by all the bad media nowadays. Television is unbearable, I stopped watching tv 5 years ago.
That was the most respectful and least compative discussion I've seen Bill have. He wasn't trying to be funny or make a point…..just being honest and genuine. **Bill, you will bring more ppl to your way of thinking like this, rather than trying to insult those who dissagree with your oppinions.**
What a wonderfully refreshing interview. Empathy with intelligence. Should be shared on FB and "we really must get these two together again!"
I forget how good this interview was. Thank god for UA-cam.
+Michael Leibowitz Yeah, thank god... good one;-)
+b norwood lol
+Michael Leibowitz Next up, Electric Circus!
+Michael Leibowitz this guy is by far the best
+Serene 3685 --Because he's a good interviewer.
George Carlin was awesome.
Bill Mahr is right about socialism.
I absolutely love Bill Maher! I enjoy watching Real Time! Bill Maher does amazing work!
Wow, I've never seen Bill this open. Great Interview
George is such a master interviewer. He can make anyone seem interesting.
Ah no he's not... yucky
even Bill Maher!
george stroumboulopoulos needs to teach more than 90% of the industry how to conduct a proper interview.
Love Bill Maher! Been a fan of Bill Maher since I was a freshman in High School and I'm 25 now, just over 10 years! I've seen this interview a few times over the past 2 years and it never gets old!
Just stumbled across George today, I'm so glad I did, he's a terrific interviewer, refreshingly interesting questions, friendly and laid back approach brings out the best in the interviewee
which is why stupid American audiences didn't give him good ratings.
So difficult being an interviewer, ask questions, shut up and listen to response, repeat.... this is not brain surgery.... lmao
He keeps joking that Stroumbo is a psychiatrist, but Stroumbo's ability to gently interrogate his guests is what makes him so good at this. His interviews are never bland.
So much respect for both of these men right here. Wishing them much success in both their careers. Big fan of Maher and the majority of his views.
A nice example of a host engaging with the guest, and vice versa, rather than playing tug o war with the audience's laughs.
amen dude. Just saw Maher on Colbert's late night show. Was so annoying. Colbert is the worst interviewer. all about him
Great, insightful, honest and god damn thoughtful interview.
Strombo is a fantastic interviewer. No personal biases, just questions.
Love them both. Thanks for the post.
EXCELLENT interview! Good bye Canada Sun News (aka "Fox News" in the U.S.) Thanks for posting a brave and honest interview. Absolutely loved it!!
George is a smart guy. He does his homework on his guests. As a Canadian, I am super proud of him and the job he does!
The most introspective interview of Bill I have ever seen. Thank you.
George is very engaged in his interview. He is fascinated by smart people. I like it about him.
I enriched my knowledge with every presentation I watched.
Thanks.
what a brilliant interviewer...
Good interview. Thanks.
Excellent interview George!
Bill Maher is the man!!
great interview
bill maher is awesome as always!
Brilliant free flowing conversation. Add food a few more intellectuals remove the cameras and this is what life could be like if you throw out your TV and start to think critically!
***** Bill Maher said he reads tabloids, so I think that TV is okay.
+Chuck Eelhart Intellectuals! Psssshhht!
great interview--love watching both these men.
Its nice to hear a good conversation that is informative.
All of his points were brilliant especially about the false equivalency meme in the media.
Great interview. Maher and Stroumboulopoulos are so insightful.
Thanks for this, uploader*
Fantastic interview.
Great minds loved this interview very refreshing!
The rarest things in 2018 are real Rock and Roll songs, and interviewers that succinctly ask a brief question and allow the guest to speak and entertain. Thank you for posting.
I love how strombo makes his guests eyes tremble. Because he is speaking from the heart
Wonderful interview, respect these guys immensely. 👍
Strombo and Bill. Bill should have him on his show.
Bill and George- an incredibly intelligent interview! More++++💖🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸

Thank you for posting. It's now 2017, some of the players may have changed in our government but this still rings true.
"best day of my life when I found out I didn't have to go to church anymore"
I can relate.
George in my opinion is the best interviewer of this century. Hes come a long way since his days with Much Music:)
The perfect Manwich!! George and Bill!
.. brilliant George ... the best interviewer these days ... Brian Linehan-esque ... gets the best juice from guests, ... well done Bill ... [peace ....

George is one of best-this is. Fantastic! ❤️
Good interview by george. Bill was good as well
I think Bill underestimates his reach. He's not speaking to only 300 million people.
+Krista he isn't speaking to even 1% of Americans due to lack of access of the majority of people in this country. I never really watched much of Stombo, but this is an excellent interview. Guess I missed out.
George is one hell of an interviewer.
"reality celebrities" are not real celebrities in my opinion. they are the "wal-mart" version of stars.
dru boy who is a real star dru
Good one lol

Stoney Lonsome yeah, time to get back to saving the world
Man, I miss your show George, you were the best interviewer ever
What an interesting talk, too bad it ended so abruptly. Would have liked it to go on for a while.
I thought it was a good interview, and I like Bill Maher. I don't always agree with him, but I don't think he expects me too either.
Glad I found this video. Makes so much sense. magnified in 2018
Maher is brilliant, incredible clarity of thought and confronting common sensibility.
Love Bill Maher! Real Time is awesome!
1st time watching George, I'm impressed.
canadians are the best
Born Again Atheist Me too,is he exclusively on Canadian tv?
Josh idk
Strombo and Maher... Thank you your the best
I will say, my respect for Maher has raised a good couple of steps because of this interview.
This was a good interview, and Bill was on point! The interviewer is good/different, he listens and is smart like Oprah!
Impressive interview, enjoyed it.
Two great interviewers good job!

+green323turbo Bill really IS superior, because he is very well-read and well-informed. The problem with about 25% of the people in the U.S. is that they are not.
Great interview! Like a brief, less pompous version of Inside the Actor's Studio.
"...It doesn't matter what the religion is as long as you believe in nonsense of some kind"
Love bill! Super intelligent man

This man is amazing. So happy he's in hockey he deserves it!
Great interviewer.
Bill is a good and really smart man
He's so right about the comments on a website. People who make negative comments for no reason are just lame nobodys who want attention.
I just heard that bees have been placed on the endangered species list. Bill certainly, hit the nail on the head. Although, he knew then, that our climate is changing and treatment of the earth is deplorable. I love this man, and most everything he says. The truth.

George. You still on TOP.
This is a great interview. I stand by what Bill Maher says not because I follow him blindly but because what he says I already believe. I'm just not the talented enough to speak in public like he does.
Unbelievably important interview!
I agree the "ignorance and hatred" out there in America is way too much.

Bill maher is a gift for america, sad that so few understand.
Yup Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight Greg Vetter......Maher is an authentic, educated, opinionated + fair minded person. (tongue firmly planted in cheek ;)
2 incredible men, good shit
Bill nails it as always.

He was almost *too* into it, action movie; on the edge of his seat kind of shit, literally.
Relevant in 2013. Still relevant in 2015

A smart back and forth. 🙂
Bill makes alot of sense on alot of things. I hope he never dies! If he does god cuts him a break since hes done so much good :)
One of the finest American intlectualBill Maher's the best... :-P

Hey, dumbass! You just watched "television".
This guy is great, I wonder why I have never heard of him????
Civilization will not attain to its perfection until the last stone from the last church falls on the last priest.
I was expecting Bill Maher interviewing George Stephanopoulos...LOL
Glad I'm a Canadian!
That was the most respectful and least compative discussion I've seen Bill have. He wasn't trying to be funny or make a point…..just being honest and genuine. **Bill, you will bring more ppl to your way of thinking like this, rather than trying to insult those who dissagree with your oppinions.**

Love Bill Maher
