Daniel Bradford He didn't just predict the victory. He specifically predicted the path to victory: sweeping Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. Ohio is a light red state but at the time, MI, PA and WI were all considered safely blue. Trump winning all three was unthinkable.

An interesting observation MM makes about his demographic. I'm the same. Midwestern white dude who's been witness to the past 30 years of devastating economic policies. But I also live currently in an urban area. This is why racial tension agonizes me so much. It's the consequences (intentional or not) of the 1% policies of greed. Corporate, wealthy greed sucking wealth in the form of productivity from rural and urban working class while giving back as little as possible, which in many cases is zero. That is the imperialist mindset...take, take, take, squeeze every last ounce of wealth while refusing to pay for infrastructure, education, health and welfare, or any thing else.

Conservatives comedians are as rare as conservative university professors. The reason is that it takes a heavy amount of societal awareness and intellectual lucidness to have those two professions, which conservatives objectively do not have.
Would natural differences like you mention also help explain why there are not as many women in most leadership positions and, say, not as many male teachers, nurses, etc.? If so, then why do certain members of the left cater to feminists in demanding more vocational "parity"? The differences between conservatives and progressives when it comes to professional inclination must surely be less "objective" than the differences between men and women, no?

Well, guys, we don't really "win" until we see what these newly elected democrats will actually do for the poorest and most disenfranchised citizens in their constituency. Let's hold off on the back-slapping until we see what happens, because as far as I'm concerned, on issues like the minimum wage, health care, and gun control, we are in an emergency situation, and something must be done now, right now.
Well, we'll see. in a country where public servants allow the minimum wage to remain at $8.10/hr., allow children to be murdered by gun wielding lunatics and do nothing to stop it, and allow the deaths of thousands of people per year from preventable diseases, I'm inclined to be just a little skeptical.

I like Michael Moore a lot, but I think he's off when he says that the segment of the population needing to be won over is angry, white, Midwestern males. The Democrats keep getting this wrong...this is a segment of the population that has always been conservative leaning. Democrats needs to stop attempting to appeal to moderates...focus on your base. We are the overwhelming majority, and with the constantly growing gap of wealth in major cities, people outside of the status quo are being pushed into the suburbs, where their votes will count more. Democrats need to focus on helping low income and people of color to register to vote. Get your own base out first before you start trying to reel in angry, white men. White males that feel disenfranchised as a group, separate from people of color and women....you're dealing with people who already have no interest in supporting the equity of the Democrats.

Right, exactly. There really needs to be an organization that helps the non-registered liberals to vote....there's now so many procedures in place to stop low income people from voting. For example, my household couldn't vote in the last election after moving to the Midwest, the key area Moore is talking about, because I didn't have the funds to access the paperwork needed to get a in-state driver's license, which is required for voting. Where are the Democrats for the low income people and people of color that WANT to vote for them but have difficulties with registration? These are issues that *can* be helped outside of the restrictive, conservative voting laws. There needs to be an organization that helps people get what they need to vote. Hell, even buses to transport people TO the polls, free of charge. That's the real issue here. Gerrymandering and the electoral college exists with the knowledge that MORE people are left wing. We ARE the majority, but what the fuck are we going to do about it?

The majority of the working class is people of color and women. They are the majority. Racism/sexism coincide with poverty. The working class white male segment of the population has always been conservative leaning, yet they spend every election trying to persuade them. My argument is, worry about getting your base out first, then spend your energy targeting potential Democrats. I also think there is also a fundamental issue here that Democrats have failed to recognize...the better you serve the most disenfranchised, low-income, oppressed groups of society, the better white, middle class, men will benefit as well. The more you prioritize your base, the more appealing it will eventually be to everyone, naturally...if you do it right. The advantage the left wing has is tangible benefits/social programs, but we have to show it through action...and the Democrats haven't expanded on these things enough. A federal budget by Democrat politicians still looks too similar to Republicans...that's a problem. We can't merely believe in protecting the middle class and working class families, we have to *actively* be about it. The answer is farther left of the spectrum.

For guns, I believe on of the solution is the following:
1. yes, background check is necessary
2. empower gun clubs. you want to own a gun? need to be a gun club member and follow training courses!
3. have weapons vaults in gun clubs. You want to own 237 guns? you can but you can only have one in your possession at any given time, the rest is at the vault at the club. Want a different gun? go to the club, surrender the one you have and get the one you want. Period
4. Since you can only have 1 gun at a time, ammunition should be limited as well. Can't own 5000 bullets
Doing this guarantees the 2nd amendment but makes it in a safe responsible way.
You want to own a gun? yes it's your right, but it comes with responsibilities. you need to be trained in operating and maintaining and making sure how to handle and store safely the gun. Your right is to have a gun not 2000 so you can own more than one but you can only have 1 in your possession at any given time. This is why gun clubs must be empowered to make people responsible.
Also, rules to be eligible to own a gun and how must be set at federal level not state level. To avoid the "oh my state is too hard for me to geta gun, I'll just travel to that one which is more lenient and then done"

Mass shooters are a whole other issue, because they, generally speaking, don't care about getting away with it. They want to be known and become infamous, and are usually willing to die in the process. Harsher penalties do practically nothing in those cases.

On the actual issues their voting records were actually very close(over90%). However, some folks like to act like children and either wanted to "show her" so they voted third party(which is stupid in a 2party system, because you know numbers) or they decided not to vote at all( I think having IQ45 in there should show that plan was not only stupid but dangerous). As an adult sometimes you have to make the adult choice. I don't think any reasonable person thinks Clinton would have been a worse choice than IQ45. Would she have been great? Probably not. But we have survived not great before (Carter,Bush,etc). But the loon we have in there currently needs to go. I say that knowing another Republican would be taking his place. Most likely Pence or Ryan- of the two I like neither, but I also know they would NOT be tweeting Little Rocket Man to an insane N.Korean dictator either.

Dennis Miller used to be one of my favorite comedians, and did a couple of decent movies as well. I don't mind that he went rabidly conservative, but his comedy went the same way and it's more hateful than funny now.
Feardrinker I've always thought that in his mother was intelligent and articulate didn't care much for his comedy seems rather sarcastic and spiteful which isn't always funny but can be true and he definitely seemed rather pretentious but that's just my opinion I could be wrong I love that part
I never cared for Miller never found him that funny going back to his days on Saturday Night Live, always came across as being kind of a dick.

democrats do it too, but republicans control more legislatures, and as a consequence wield more power to tilt the scales in more places giving them larger leads in congress than they deserve. This is not an equal problem that is benefiting both parties, on net, this hurts democrats more due to how liberals are concentrated in the country and off year voting.
