Dairanger does translate to Great Ranger but the full title is Gosei Sentai Dairanger which translates to Five-Star Squadron Great Ranger.

To add to 7:30 i believe that the first sentai series goranger also kept their initial costumes/cast for more than one year, trey did goranger for 84 episodes between 1975-1977. So people bitch and complain about mmpr keeping their costume for extended amount of time but sentai did the same thinf for their premier series
I think the issue was it is the first time a Sentai was shown to the general audience of the West and to have it yearly change like the Sentai counterpart, like you said, can hurt the franchise since it is the OG. I think we cannot just blindly blame Saban for not introducing the Dairanger or any other missed Sentai that were used in the MMPR era. I think they did their best to cement Power Rangers and we can see the effects now. Yearly new Rangers just like Sentai counterparts. All we can do now is take it as a learning lesson for future Power Rangers.

The ending of Dairanger was a hint of how Gokaiger would end cause in Gokaiger the audience was wondering if the original 34 Super Sentai teams will ever get their powers back from the Gokaiger, the 35th Super Sentai team. Since the ending of Dairanger took place which depict their children having used their original powers many years after Gokaiger it makes sense.
If Saban had adapted the Dairanger suits, Zack would have changed to green. However Tommy was still the green ranger at the time.
Also 10:43 to 10:46 that was clearly not Thuy Trang speaking.
And yes I will admit to preferring the Gokaiger tribute suits for Dairanger (and Zyuranger/Gaoranger/Timeranger/Hurricanger/Gingaman/Gekiranger/GoGoV/Abaranger)

Have them get the Kakuranger suits
Make Rocky the blue
Make Tommy the red
Have Billy give up power(basically Zeo, but a season earlier)
Instead of Ninjor, we could have Billy control of(currently)the Ninjor suit/powers via Bluetooth(Kind of like Just Dance)
Have the series continue as it did.

This the problem with the Saban and company. They see things in a business stand point. by immediately changing suits it could affect sales of the toys from the MMPR suits so... sad that Kakuranger and Dairangers were the collateral of this business decision. It's not entirely wrong... but MMPR season 2 was sad. When Jason, Zack, and Trini left.... I left the MMPR bus :(

Dairanger - White Ranger is a kid pervert who touches the Pink Ranger's breasts and flips her skirt in the first few episodes of his mid season appearance.
Power Rangers - White Ranger Tommy and Pink Ranger Kimberly are dating each other.
I would love to think they could have combined the two, still having Tommy and Kimberly date each other but also have Tommy have a perverted side to him in at least one episode.
On this week's episode of Power Rangers, Tommy faces his greatest foe, the sexual harassment lawsuit.

I first must say what a great video this was! Very well written, thought out and you keep it real about how bad of a decision season 2 was. Honestly as a kid I actually had a HouHou Ranger action figure and I thought of it as power rangers cause at the time I didn’t know of Sentai. The reasoning of why Saban didn’t use the Dairanger suits was sort of a trash excuse since it boils down to Toei and Bandai America not wanting to waste a warehouse of Zyu suit merchandise! All the money Saban used for the “Zyu2” footage could’ve been used to create new footage with the Dai suits.
The way I always saw it was, with the arrival of Lord Zedd and his powerful monsters, Zordon decides its time to create a new fighting force, since the powers of the Green Ranger were waning anyway, he decides to use them as the source for the “Thunder Zords” and the new Thunder Rangers! Zack would become the new Green Ranger as homage to Tommy and the gold trimming found in the Dairanger suits would also pay homage to the dragon shield, so it would’ve been easy for kids to adjust if explained right.
I’ve also seen comments by others in posts about Season 2 in forums and other videos that the Dairanger suits should’ve been introduced when Adam, Aisha, and Rocky joined the team as a way to differentiate between Jason, Trini, and Zack. My issue with that is maybe Jason, Trini, and Zack don’t leave the show if the Dairanger suits are used since, as discussed in the video, Dairanger had episode arcs for every ranger on the team, so the Tommy arriving as the new White Ranger doesn’t lead to him becoming leader and the most famous ranger of the show. Maybe, just maybe Jason keeps the spotlight on him since Sentai is a very red ranger centric series and that forces Saban to pay for his services
Javier Grant not a power rangers fan only saw episodes 1 and 7 hated power rangers since I was nine in 1993 love dinosaur squad zyuranger it's my favorite sentai love diaranger it's the best sentai in my opinion 👻

for me dairanger is the best sentai show in the history of sentai, even counting the original one (gorenger), while mighty morphin season 2 is the worst power rangers show ever.. i never understand what happened there.
there 1 weird thing about the main mecha though.. like you said, ryuseioh warrior mode looks so similar to sun wukong, on the other hand, dairenoh looks very much like general zi long/zhou yun from the romance of three kingdom. so, how is a human general like zhou yun an upgrade of the great sage equal of heaven? =))

World Building, dont worry about that anymore cause the Boom comics gives us world building, more than Sabans version could ever be but you have to remember that during those days, it was new and a very different time.
Now that Hasbro owns it, I wouildnt be surprised if they make a cartoon based off the comics cause they have the resources, I mean look at there shows for Transformers, I dont mean there 1984 Transformers, which didnt have an ending unless you count Toeis add on but I mean Transformers Prime or Beast Wars, which went on to Beast Machines.
I wouldnt be surprised if Hasbro has more creative control in Power Rangers considering they co own Transformers with Toei but now they co own Power Rangers AKA Super Sentai. More control than Saban ever did.
Plus I know you probably hate Michael Bay for his Transformers movies but if Hasbro can get someone like him to do a Power Rangers movie, atleast it will be doing as great as Transformers.
Those who say the TMNT 2016 and 14 movies were done by Bay, they were produced by Bay, he didnt actually work on them, someone else actually worked on them.
Lord Zedd's candles used in Missing Green would have been a great intro to using the DairRanger costumes.
Also, I'm glad I got here before Hasbro takes it down.
Can you imagine if other countries made their own versions of power rangers by going the same direction as the American MMPR! By adding their own actors and borrowing the same fight sequences from Haim Saban, the same way Saban did from Zyu Ranger! 😂
Not specifically the first three seasons but other countries have made their own version of super sentai. Thailand is one, I think.

That's where the monsters came from but most of the time the monsters and rangers would never share the same screen.
One thing I don't get about the Zyu2 footage is why they didn't just use it as it was. Okay, so Lord Zedd appears and over several episodes of Zyu 2 footage, the Megazord is getting more and more badly damaged until the Zyu2 footage is used, then a dairanger monster overpowers it entirely. Cue Thunderzords, less work and they used all the footage they paid for.
Right!? Thematically that would've made more sense

I have an idea for a better 3 part MmPR ending, Jason, trini, zack return in their mmpr (Zyuranger) outfits, Billy, Adam, Aisha, Kimberly (Dairanger), and Alien Rangers fight the final battle against Master Vile and his monsters instead of that cliffhanger ending with Hydro Hog. Hydro Hog still remains but he’d be the last MofD for MmPR.

I would have liked to see an team-up movie special where the Dairangers come to Angel Grove. BTW, how will the Power Rangers react to Kou touching Kimberly and Aisha's breasts and flipping up the skirts of the Angel Grove girls? And for an alt. Season 3 arc, Rita Repulsa has evil Katherine Hillard team up with her Kakuranger counterparts, the Flower Kunoichi Sisters!
I like these ideas, maybe make Justin the White Ranger, he could be Kim's younger brother), and then let them get the other Dai suits. Then instead of the Alien Rangers in S3, the Rangers get the Kaku suits and Kat leads the female team against them, until they break the spell and she takes Kim's place.

Well they use the Thunder Megazord because at that point in the plot the regular Megazord was destroyed so don't act like there was no reason for it because there was a story reason. And also Power Rangers might use the footage from Sentai but they're not the same show. So Power Ranger shouldn't never be expected to follow the Sentai, so you shouldn't expect them to keep the same backstory and names. Power Rangers not adapting, abridging, remaking the sentai.
Okay besides that one part the rest of this was really interesting.

IKR! I mean Saban had earned a lot of money after the success of Season 1. He could have fork over more cash to rent the Dairanger footages, the suits and the sets for giant robot cockpits. He also rewarded his three actors a raise after the success of the first season.
If he's too afraid to not let go of the Zyuranger suits, then I have a solution. Use the Dairanger suits as Super Mode for the old suits. When the Power Rangers are up against a monster that is too powerful to take on, then Zordon allowed them to transform into their Super Mode.
For the third season, yeah I think it's time for Saban to ditch both the Zyuranger and Dairanger suits. Let's say that a new villain comes, that is not Lord Zed, defeated the Ranger's and destroy their powers. But Ninjor came and gave the Ranger new powers that is the Kakuranger suits to fight the new villain and its monsters.

Looking back, I wish they had made a few changes to season 2:
-Zedd uses the black-suits as his troops and has a few of his own generals in addition to Rita's lackeys
-Rangers use the zyuranger morphers but with diaranger-styled coins and get a new morphing sequence, and use the dairanger outfits in battle. In the command center, they keep their zyuranger buckles, Zordon explaining that in battle, their morphers would armor up so Goldar and other villains couldn't steal their coins again
-Once Zedd defeats the original Zords, they go into the repair bay, and their old power coins are retired and put on display within the command center, with their old costumes, similar to Zeo/Turbo
-The Thunder Zords / coins are won by the rangers by channeling their chi and learning to overcome some obstacle unique to them.
-More dairanger footage used with the Z putties no longer needed; just cut around the leather bad guys.
-new morphs more like later seasons, such as "Power of Thunder! Red Dragon Ranger Power!" and shorter: "Red dragon thunder power!" Same morpher footage, but filmed again with season 2 kids so it isn't as out of date, Zack being the green ranger now, and a new dairanger inspired suit-up sequence.
For season 3:
-either use the existing ranger suits, or create their own with the ninja suits, with animal-themed helmets that look more like zyu-ranger's style (molded rather than gold application onto a helmet), and the zyu morphers on their buckles, with the ninja power coins on their buckles and new morphs filmed.
-use existing bad guys instead of tenga warriors
-new morph sequence inspired by ninja rangers; Morph like "Blue Wolf Ninja Power!" or "Power of the wolf, blue ninja ranger power!" like in later seasons.

So the series that was originally going to become Power Rangers season one was an anniversary series in Japan. After the first two series became super sentai shows.
I have to thank you for mentioning shoutfactory in your video. I've been wanting to get my hands on the original Sentai Series for a long time ever since Zyuranger was released on DVD.

While the most of the comments here prefer Dairanger footage with Dairanger suits and mechs, I personally wish Saban had followed these steps:
1) use all of Zyu2 footage with Dinozords from beginning to end (you can introduce Lord Zedd whenever you want)
2) go to Zyu3 footage during season 2
3) switch from Dinozords into their upgraded Zyu3 selves, whatever they should be called
4) turn Tommy into White Ranger, and give him Zyu3 Tigerzord
5) switch from Jason, Zack and Trini to Rocky, Adam and Aisha
6) run the season 2 until the end
7) destroy Zyu3 Zords and switch to Ninja Zords.
As such, the story would've been much simplier, if you ask me.
Im a huge mmpr fan and I have to say season 2 made no sense Dai Ranger was way better & I understood the footage way better with the subtitles to help

Power Rangers Season 2 is not as good as the original counter part.... but for some reason I live in a world that does not understand as being inherently awesome having martial artists in spandex fighting rubber monsters, who command giant robots that can attack a kaiju sized rubber monsters... so the whole "brand recognition via familiarity" thing is something I'm like, "okay... I guess that is a good thing."
It is a case where doing a dick move creates the most ethically correct solution. We have people who are able to be into Dairanger... mostly because there was a lesser version in North America. So... it kind of balances out.
I really like the whole thing of the whole video but really great job editing it.

Englishman, Scotsman, Irishman, Welshman, Frenchman, German, Dutchman, Canadaman, are all widely accepted terms. It's just a shorted form of saying "A man from X country". Why does China specifically need to be excluded from this?
As an adult, I sort of wish the costumes were changed in Power Rangers (they could've kept the same characters), they look so much better to me and they match the "thunder zords."
But yeah, the story of DaiRanger was far superior to whatever the Power Rangers team patched together. It would've also been a lot easier to do than the trouble they put themselves through editing and changing things to fit the ZyuRanger theme.

I watched Dairanger more than 2x because of the story arc and plot really fit in the theme. Most of the Power Ranger series will only has a higher rating by having the Jurassic Park theme in it. Because of the Power Ranger series we don't have any Super Sentai Series being shown in local tv here in the Philippines which became a somewhat downgrade for us Filipino in terms of values or conduct. Most kids here in the Philippines who watched Power Ranger series are more violent and rude than kids who watched Super Sentai series.
I love that every single Zord unlike Ryou, which is called RyuSeiOh, is called SeiJishi, SeiTenma, SeiKirin, SeiHouou.
It would have been a better adaptation if they switched the suits to match Dairanger but that being said I'm not a fan of the regular Dairanger suits. There are some good mockups of the MM suit helmets being changed with the zords.

Nah I like what Saban did to season 2 of MMPR, only thing I don't like is why they never at least used the Dairanger suit at some point. The transformation of zords from Dino to Thunder was awesome at the time (would had wish they stop showing it later on though as the first two or three times was enough) and it was really a shame Dragonzord didn't get the same treatment but at least Dragonzord remains unique and dormant throughout the series. You think Saban had money that he also use it to had Toei film a Dragon Caesar versus Wong Tiger match for the US MMPR during the Green Ranger return episode so Dragonzord and Tigerzord would had a much better fight scene but no all we got are splice footage, the cheapest of editing materials.
