Thanks for watching.
better than a review is a comparison test, thank you!
fucking sickkkkk
do so high speed tests with it, and maybe try do a race with it, after seeing this video know what fpv setup i am getting next.
Awesome video. I'd love to see some flying behind large trees - the sort where the analog goes fairly snowy but you can still fly through OK. If the Connex is also flyable around large trees then I'm in for one!
I wonder if this system can connect to the Fatshark Attitude V3s via an HDMI-RCA connector?
Great review test vid!
I would like to know flight times with the Connex alone and compared to flight times with Standard definition with 5.8. Still on the fence with this. I've read from a few people that it drains the batteries like crazy. Which means the battery industry needs to step the game up.
Can I get the name of that HD DVR?
nice test, but the latency is good for racing? I doubt
what are your thoughts running the CPS vs AnGL and would you recommend the switch taking cost out of it
what fatshark system do you have?
nice, but need to get outside with it and give it some gas to see how it really performs :)
Real glass to glass latency check please!
And a range check and demo on how the image breaks down and recovers.
Thanks!
Thanks for doing this mate. A latency test please. also would be great if next time you take it out fly behind some things that would cause significant snow on the standard set up. Long distance, stuff. behind thick far away trees.
agreed, a range test would also be nice. Its rated for 100mw, so I'm having a hard time imagining that it will out range my unify pro 800mw... I pre ordered one anyway, so fingers crossed it works as hoped!
Was in the comments to ask the same.
Lightbridge is a great system, but its latency is 150ms. Foxtech did a latency test of this Connex system with a timer running and the Connex sytem shows between .05-.06 sec or 50-60ms delay. This is still not as fast as analog, BUT this is the first HD system that is actually fast enough to race. Racing quad are capable of approaching 100mph, while Lightbridge is great for photo/videography, its not quite fast enough to race. For example, at 100mph, with Lightbridge, your quad will actually be 21.64 ft ahead of where you perceive it through goggles at 150ms delay. With this Connex system, at 100mph, your quad will only be 6.86ft ahead of where you perceive it through goggles at 50-60ms delay. The Connex system to me is the first viable HD race system.
cj2006sd I got a connex, and stuck it on my armattan f1-6. Its not race ready imo. The system works very well (aside from the crazy pixelation when signal drops) but its kinda stuttery.... like playing counterstrike at 20 fps. I think that this system is best used for chilled cruising where you can admire the pretty picture, for racing I will stick to my good old 5.8 200mw vtx and la forge diversity receiver for now. It works much better, and I'm not throwing hundreds of $ worth of gear at a race gate. I think V2 could be pretty special though, i've not given up.
mPky1 indirectly yes. There are no spare parts available yet, and as the antenna is kinda vulnerable I think it is more likely to get hurt in a crash.
Having said that the main reasons i say its not going to take off in the race world are the low frame rate, extra weight of gear and unpredictable break up.
I think the reasons it could work for racing are the digital signal is paired to the receiver, like an RX, so no more messing with dip switches between heats, and the carrier signal allows for way more pilots to be in the air.
I'm waiting for a firmware update or something, The connex system has the potential to change everything, but I think its only 70% of the way there. I've left it at home the last couple of times i've gone out, put it that way.
that quality is insaneee!
would love to see a range test also
I'd like to see a range check as well as what happens when the video does fail. how long does it take to come back, etc.
Was honestly very skeptical of Prosight before this video but that looked really good. Great video! All they would need now to completely win me over would be a Fatshark goggle receiver module.
That's not happening though. Even putting the size restraints aside, the module bay only has analog inputs, so yeah....
+Jay Anderson yeah that's true, but down the road hopefully. The portability of just grabbing my goggles and going is hard to give up...
yeah... they said it was 9ms of latency... sorry but I see there is more latency in your vid... even just looking at it... put a timer in front off it and measure the latency plz... it will only take 2 minutes to do this... why is no one doing this? :-(
I think they said it's more like 29ms latency, I haven't seen anybody say 9ms. Nobody who's flown it so far has said thats it's laggy from what I've heard though.
How can you see latency in a recorded video? One could only guess it from the reactions of the pilot. There are two modes, a quality mode and a low latency mode. I think for low latency the delay is 19ms (from camera to hdmi out).
+DG4ever92 why does no one measures the delay... all you need is a shot of a timer and the screen...(2 minutes of work) every one "thinks" but no one is sure :-( Like the quality of the video and I'm sure this is the future but don 't keep us waiting for real data... may be this is their way of making publicity... I don't know...
but the latency is what everyone cares about..
i only want image quality, speak for your self
True, I'm not rocketing through a bunch of trees or through racing gates so a little latency isn't a big deal.
Connex is very low-latency. There's a reason it's so pricey
I can finally get into FPV!
The latency here are only numbers, no way you can register 25ms with your eyes. After mack 1 maybe it will start to matter, but you cant buy supersonic drones quite yet.
Nice comparison - are you going to do any fast outdoor flying? That's my main concern!
Range check.
Altitude and distance!
And power use comparison with penetration. I'm amazed at how clean it was with dipoles in with all the concrete
Outside tree líne ....fly
Wow. I can't wait until it's smaller and cheaper.
Yeah, 20% size and cost, i'm in. Maybe a year? HD 3D FPV please
+MicroRCFiend yea hopefully the Chinese get their hand on it
jussa101 No way it's made in the West so they already do, just a matter of time. That DVR is massive though, shrink that too please and stick it inside a screen China
+MicroRCFiend there's a diff between just blindly manufacturing and having a Chinese company like aomway take it apart and have a serious look at all the parts
jussa101 If hobbyking have bought it then it's usually an OEM of something else anyway. It's very rare they fund something from the start, they just have massive buying power and people on the ball in China.
Great video! It'd be great to fly at a park, between trees, and general proximity flying/bashing around playgrounds and such. Cheers ;)
but that analog is extremly poor I have 2 fpv analog cameras and booth are beter picture this is horible :D PS is nice picture but If I imagine to breake it quickly .. too high price ANALOG WIN at me for next year minimal.
Are you sure you didn't strap a Mobius on there! Dang!
How about the latency? On the previous wasn't clear. Thanks
Thanks Mate
You're the man!! Fantastic video. What was it like flying with the HD feed in the Goggles? I'm assuming way clearer? Would that be correct?
Watch/hear at 4:04
waiting for the Eachine unit, half price and size.
Easy guys. Thats all youtuber outhere is all about. Just keep another content for next video. Hahahah. Thanks hpi. You rocks !!!
Thanks for the side by side comparison. Cant wait till the price goes way down and the system gets smaller including the antenna. At this price point though I can't see it really gaining much market share.
I figured out what DVR this is by doing a bunch of google image searches, since no answer from HPI GUY. It's the Hauppauge PVR Rocket Portable. You can find it on Amazon. $140 Amazon Prime.
Do you know if the prosight can output in 4:3 aspect ratio? (I'm wondering if it would work ok on Dominator v2s)
awesome video. like many others I'd like to know about range, not the range itself but how the video cuts out or degrades when. a big fear from moving from analogue is the video just cutting out without warning when signal is weak.
1. Please try performance mode in same env.
2. Please please please do this prosight v. analog comparison flying around in a forest.
great review thank you for that. This looks very promising would love to see this system on real race conditions with more pilots racing on the same time with much more speed.
you chose a very badest analogic camera.
HD is good but 30 fps is too low = motion blur 60fps would be perfect next time may be.
Best side by side comparison for this setup so far. Lovin' the edit! Lookin forward to the next vid mate.
Pretty nice :) I wish it was more easy to put everything on a mini quad actually!
Happy sunday
Impressive! Thanks for a great video. I'm back into the rc hobby for 6 months, from years ago flying nitro helis. I am up to the Eachine EV800 goggles and Eachine Racer, impressive for 80.00, and 130.00 USD. Thinking about the Fatshark HD goggles and this setup.
Man that's sick, i should get one of these thing. By the way You should try how the hd camera handle the sun directly and fly outdoor
What about flight time and flight characteristics? Do we really need that big T/fairing style antenna for HD? Can it be simplified/made aerodynamic? Looks like it will break easily, then what do Connex charge for replacements or can we make/3D print ourselves. Carbon fibre antenna comes to mind.
wow, this CONNEX PROSIGHT system already closer and closer to DJI Mavic pro.
LOL that has got to be the worst analog signal I have ever seen. Did you purposely have the worst possible settings on your FPV camera and run your headset with no antenna in an effort to make the analog look as bad as possible???? I mean common, my 5.8ghz DVR footage from my Fatsharks looks way better than that.
So hopefully next season this starts to become more common. $500US for a camera system isn't within the grasp of most flyers, but just like HD TVs soon it'll be easy for everyone to get a good HD system. :)
Your showing us the HD recording as taken directly from the Connex VRX.....This is not what you are seeing in those goggles and their little eyepeice size displays..?
The HD image can only be as good as what you are displaying it on....FS goggles..?...really.?
Looks amazing! Accurate latency test against a HS1177 though! There has to be higher latency for that quality surely?!
Just amazing!!!! I want to see you race it! Or better yet take it to the park and spy on the old man who wanted to call the cops /sarcasm
Thanks for this video! I found the definition of the image not a lot better, but reception quality certainly is much more stable. But I won't buy it untill the EU price is on par with the US and other countries.
Is there any video stabilization applied in the DVR? In the analogue video there was lots of pitch and ail movements that just wasn't there in the digital video. Just like a video stablilizer or something.
There might be a problem with your 5.8 system. Check antenna and frequency.
Thanx for the video
Thanks for the review, it really looks amazing and for you to do a real side by side was exactly what the FPV community needed, thanks again.
I want to know what happens when it does experience lower signal levels. does it warn you before? does it stutter? Pixelate? blur? freeze?
The clarity is amazing. Certainly give you an edge when racing. How well will the antenna standup, it has to be bullet proof. Is this the case. Great review.
great video! thanks for the test. the image looks awesome compared to analog. what about if you fly behind walls or large trees?
I'll try that soon
defo trees, get some stuff between you and the model.
Some tree diving would be great as that's what I like to fly most.
1080p60! Not 1080p30
you do see how he flys? you think he can dive trees? lol
Hi mate, great review as always, slightly off topic but i have the connex also and the hauppauge rocket but i cant use Sony Vagas to edit (wont alloe it) very odd as if i record footage from the pc it accepts the file no problems, what edit software do you use?
What happens when you connect this system to the Dom HD2´s? Will the image get streched or will blackbars appear?
Fantastic video Richard deffo be getting that setup so much clearer I was wondering when hd fpv would come ! Cheers
What a great test. Like others I was skeptical, but wow that was impressive. Still a little on the large size for me. But I'm sure with time it will shrink some more. Thanks for sharing
What DVR did you use to record the ProSight footage? Brand and model please? Thanks for the video, looking forward to seeing more.
Seems that this guy found worst analog FPV system and compared it with digital. Same as compare Ferrari with old ford with 400k miles on engine
Nice indoor comparison but would have been nice to also see some outdoor footage and see the difference under dull overcast conditions and also bright sunshine, especially flying towards the sun.
Yep, great stuff, when they're giving them away I'll have one too :)
Question: Would you pay full price for one ?
Lucky man. Looks good
Awesome! Is the 16:9 image streched back to 4:3 inside the HD2 googles or are there black bars on top and bottom or does it have a 4:3 mode?
I thought I saw there is 2 quality modes, a slightly higher latency/high quality mode, or a lower latency mode. Which one were you running?
i have been hoping hd would be possible some day... looks like it us here... cant wait to see the development of this become cheaper and a smaller format.
Well, my Underground Video isn't as bad as his ... looks made worse (intended).
that looks amazing!! what's the weight in grams of just the hd stuff that goes on the quad and much $$$??
Great vid. Quality is great but latency is also. Not going to be pro racing with this....
that is mind blowing how good that video looks, and it held up well no drop outs or bad pixelastion. I would like to see it fly around trees and behind structures
the quality of the sd camera is way poorer than what I usually got. Have you concider that the HD signal might interfer with the sd one?
Looks amazing, but i'll stick to analogue until the cost comes down a bit more, and the range goes up.
footage looks great but Id like to see you go to the park and get some speed going and do some acro. Its hard to tell if there is lag because you are flying rather safe. Maybe voice over while you fly :)
Great comparison, would like some range tests please, I think I am already sold on it though
The HD was awesome !
But...my analog recordings are quite a bit better than yours.
Oh my god dude, this is like night and day difference. Hopefully they get cheap asap!
ive ordered connex prosight , cant wait to test it :D esspecially hp mode with the latest firmware :)
Nice.... Would love to see the same test in the middle of a city neighborhood so see how it holds up....
How do you do spectator mode it's says it has. Someone said he was using his mobile phone to record video. Can this be done.
It looks like you were in HQ mode not performance mode, can you do the same thing in Performance mode?
You should try it in a park with partial tree coverage too see if you can fly behind some foliage.
Connex is wayyyyyyyyyyyy better.
wow it's night and day better!
would love to see it perform around trees and the range of it. Great video!
HPI Guy or others, is this still the best option in the price range going from analog to digital?
Excellent video! You win a new subscriber! Thank you sir.
Do you think I could run this setup on a Vortex 250 Pro??
Looks excellent
very cool man. thanks for sharing. this should be a game changer for the sport.
Boom ! great comparison and video Richard fucking A1 m8.
That's awesome. Range and penetration through a forest should be interesting
I must say wow that unbelievable very nice rich
cool, when this gets 1/10 of the size and price I'll be game!
REALLY impressive. Thanks so for the video!
woow! that's amazing! not a single breakup in the video.
Could you fly to check the distance before video signal loss.
Great improvement in the picture! But it didn't help the music at all.
Does the Connex ever have video interference? I didn't see the video blip even once!
It actually lives up to the hype! Amazing quality.
Great review, very nicely edited. Thanx man. This is new news to me.
wow I wasn't a believer until now.. thanks. Do you know how it goes when flying with other pilots?
I will find out
I believe it was mentioned up to 6 people at once on the Connex system with no interference with regular 5.8Ghz systems :)
does it interfere with other people's traditional video.
+Curtis .B Hertz I think they mentioned 32 channels and there should be at least one channel between two pilots. That would mean 16 pilots should be able to fly together.
Do you have a web link to check out the DVR you are using?
Looking very nice... how does it fee for delay?
that's a dvr unit I love it how much and do u have to run that big unit on quads
