I really find that Itabashi utilizes more of Gief's buttons for combos and meaties more than Snake Eyez does with his. There's a definite difference between the two players and their playstyles.
It's based on how much damage you take when you get stunned. the more damage you take the harder it is to mash out. order of difficulty for mashing out is like birds(easiest)
Smug is a pretty good player and will get much better I'm sure, but I kinda hope that he will pickup a secondary character for certain fights where Dudley might not be working out for him. Even Snake Eyez the eternal Gief player finally realized that he needed a secondary E.Ryu to switch things up when Gief isn't working for him. Smug playing Dudley at NLBC is fine 99% of the time and he'll win plenty with just that one character, but if he wants to start winning bigger tournaments against better US and international players, I think he needs a secondary.
Uzumaki Naruto Kinda sucks that you really need a secondary, but I have to agree. Still, I really enjoy seeing character specialists stick it out no matter what the match up. I have a lot of respect for them.
NoviceartistJC Its funny that Louffy has been playing Rose like since forever and no one else and alot of people dislike him for playing a supposed OP character. But I wish Louffy would take up a secondary too since it seems like alot of people have figured Rose out now.
Uzumaki Naruto I think Louffy needs to scout his match ups more. Rose is still great but maybe he's not realizing how much homework the big time players are doing on him to try beat HIM specifically. Rose in general has no real bad match ups in the game which makes her a really good character. But at times its not about beating the character, but the player.
Actually, Smug has two secondaries, Fei Long and T. Hawk. Not many people dont even know about it. His Fei Long i believe has only been brought out once. Not that good but with more practice, he can be good good with Fei. T. Hawk I believe he only brings out against the Yun/Yang matchup, but i heard he only uses Hawk for when he plays Shiine (a Yang player) because supposevely Shiine hates dealing with T. Hawk.
BludAardvark Whether its people figuring out his character or him or both, he's not doing so well lately. :(( Just watched him at the Redbull Kumite tournament and he got knocked out mid rounds again. :-/ Hope he can regain his form although it looks like a fair number of players are overtaking him this year.
I only got into the SF competitive scene when the SFIV era was ending, and i still totally feel you. SFV may be a good game on its own, but as an e-sport and SF main game it's so disappointing.
I have a question with these tournaments: Why are they not using Ultras? Do they have a limited amount of Ultras that they are allowed to use? I am not familiar with the rules
Gala Tse Yes. I hardly see any Ultras during these tournaments. So i was wondering if there were other rules for it. For instance that they could only use a certain amount of Ultras
Zangielf's ultra need setups as you can't use it in combos. And if you are wondering about why Dudley did not use ultra on stunned Zangief, it is because the game features damage scaling, where attack power decreases during longer combo, hence his ultra 2 would do very little damage if used as that point since stun does not reset the combo count.
Nope. Learn how to counter it. It only hits standing opponents. If you crouch while blocking you can avoid it entirely and punish with a low. It's -44 or -22 on block depending on the lariat so you have all the time in the world to punish. Some neutral jump moves stuff it entirely. So learn those if your character has 'em. Other than that, don't jump...
Shut the fuck up. Jesus. 99% of players lose in tournaments you moron. There's only ONE winner. And this is a TERRIBLE matchup for Dudley. He's still a worldclass player who's better at SF than you are at anything in your pathetic life. He's only disappointing to pieces of shite like you. Everyone else enjoys his dynamic play and his mastery of the character and gives him props for it. How is youtube SUCH a magnet for negative assholes?
bob jones calm down dude XD he just say that smug lose, but I m agree with you, this is a really bad match up for Durley and for me, smug is the best player in the USA.
Itabashi looked like he was having so much fun in this match.
yea, hes a big fan of smug!
messitup
lol bow ?
messitup
how ?*
So much more fun to play a grappler when you're not playing someone who zones.
He looks like that every match lol..
i always love to see how much itazan enjoys playing
Lol look at that smile of Itazan. He has found out how to fight Smug but then he overexcited at that second round
Yeah you can tell right off the bat. He started challenging footsies more with those standing mp's and then knew to wake up focus back dash SPD.
No he took some coke and it started to kick in
That Homer Simpson yelp at 3:39 in response to Itazan's back dash jab SPD was simply godlike.
who is he? he screams in almost all matches when it is about to fnish
@@TastieCutie The world may never know.
So much hype for this tournament! Love the screams from the crowd!
Great set by both players. Gief just found the right buttons and did what he needed to do. Smug played well.
I really find that Itabashi utilizes more of Gief's buttons for combos and meaties more than Snake Eyez does with his. There's a definite difference between the two players and their playstyles.
FinchoMatic true. Itabashi plays Gief for full optimization. Snake Eyez plays his Gief for mind games but still gets results.
BludAardvark full optimization souns right. I saw him play Soulcalibr 5 with a grappler, Astaroth, and he tries to use every option available.
I think for SFV Capcom should let players choose between whether they want to use Focus Attack or being able to Parry. That would be awesome
Would have been
Is there something that determines which stun you get (skulls, birds, bells) or is it totally random?
Thats a very good question, i never thought of that
Its random
It's based on how much damage you take when you get stunned. the more damage you take the harder it is to mash out. order of difficulty for mashing out is like birds(easiest)
***** It's a complete lie. The dizzy bird/stars/skulls are completely random and there is no difference at all between them.
Galkatokk then explain why exactly it takes longer to mash out of skulls than it does to mash out of stars?
Whoa you can do a standing MP-MP-MP combo with Zangief? (5:58)
+Pratik Hazari dudleys horizontal hit box is big enough for that combo only works on big hit boxes.
Triple MP baby
Didn't know Gief could even do that.
Smug is a pretty good player and will get much better I'm sure, but I kinda hope that he will pickup a secondary character for certain fights where Dudley might not be working out for him.

Itabashi has the best Zangief in Japan, so either one of the two win this game shouldn't be a surprise.
A zoning Zangief and a rushdown Dhalsim this weekend... Holy shit!
Well despite being a Gief match, it surely looked a close one
Sf4 has beautifull graphics. The style keeps it fresh. Try looking at Injustice 1. Yack
If itaZan meets snake eyes one day I would be so happy
Are there any Itabashi vs Snake Eyes videos?
i misss this game so much
I only got into the SF competitive scene when the SFIV era was ending, and i still totally feel you. SFV may be a good game on its own, but as an e-sport and SF main game it's so disappointing.
Man!,
That Zangief is very good. I like it.
Love the Riley chain
Great match.
Always sucks to see Smug lost too a Gief since he works so hard in those matches against them.
4:04
Look at his smile
smug didnt read him well, should have seen that he goes for wakeup focus backdash alot. and dudley has the perferct tool to destroy ppl doing that.
I don't think that works with grapplers, more so with Gief and Hakan(When oiled up)
Itabashi "Troll Face" Zan is BACK!
nice
ザンギの立ち中p弱体化した方が良いのでは?
smugly is def the peoples champ
Guy who goes to every FGC event only to yelp shrilly whenever anything interesting happens: you are killing the FGC, eSports, and my fucking ears.
Itabashi vs snakeeyez when?
I have a question with these tournaments: Why are they not using Ultras?
Do they have a limited amount of Ultras that they are allowed to use?
I am not familiar with the rules
what are you talking about? do you mean they not using the ultra during the battle?
Gala Tse Yes. I hardly see any Ultras during these tournaments. So i was wondering if there were other rules for it. For instance that they could only use a certain amount of Ultras
+MegaGothmog It's not always a tactical/wise choice. Ultra's are really easy to predict less they streamline with combos or are setups.
Huey Freeman in the house
i thought smug woulda ate this guy shows how much i know about the game
spinning lariat is so OP

KC P also even after jumping theres a few buttons that almost every character has that can beat a lariat with good timing.
Freezing Moon dude, my normals just phase through zangief’s lariat.
6:02 lmao Rick flair
