Jay a lot of your opening talking points and your read on OLED monitor technology is about a year behind. I had to double check if this was an older video or not. 1440p/240hz OLED at 27" was a huge release in 2023 with both WOLED and QD-OLED variants from more than just Corsair and LG. Looking forward for the rest of 2024 and early 2025, 2023's 1440p/240hz OLED spec got a price drop and we're seeing more 360hz/4k options moving forward, along with newer QDOLED/WOLED panels.
I've fallen out of PC Building after 10 years. The past 4 years have just been disappointing pricing for products with disappinting products and I don't see that stopping anytime soon. I've gotten bored and fed up with this entire industry. I love the content though and will always continue to watch and support you.
I personally own 2 Viewsonic Elite monitors. I've had them for a little over 2 years and my experience with them has made me never want to buy another Viewsonic product ever again. I had to RMA them at least 6 times, maybe more, and the issues were never resolved.
Umm. This 27" 1440p 240Hz W-OLED panel has been out in multiple OLED monitors for well over a year now (LG, ASUS, Corsair, Acer, AOC, KTC, Cooler Master...). Funny how you present it like it's something new or not so widely available. LG has actually released an even newer refresh of it already and has a 480Hz model on the way. Also, 360Hz QD-OLEDs are out.
Yep, im actively using the MSI 360 QDOled, which is stunning. I had to double check to make sure this video wasnt a re-upload or was from last year or something.
Yah this Viewsonic monitor seems kind of pointless. The same panel is available in cheaper monitors (the LG one is like $650), and for $100 cheaper you can get one of the 1440p360hz QD-OLEDs which are mostly a direct upgrade. For $50 more you can also get the 4k240HZ QD-OLEDs
The best gaming monitor is still a high end CRT (with 0.20mm phosphor size, if it's 0.24mm, 1440p or similar resolutions will look blurry). That hasn't changed.
I actually got that Corsair 45" after watching your review video, going on 5 months of ownership and it's been absolutely amazing. Glad to see other manufacturers are starting to get into the OLED game. I know burn in is a concern but if other manufactures pick up Corsair and LG's retention systems, I think we'll start seeing a boom of these.
To clarify something: Input lag or latency on a TV is not good unless using certain modes or settings including auto low latency modes. This is not related to pixel response time. Every OLED has a sub 1ms response time which is what is being advertised as a 0.2ms response time while some companies market nanosecond response times for OLEDs. This is not latency. There will still be processing resulting in probably around 8-16 ms click to photon latency. This is the same for all digital displays, while a very low pixel response timer reduces motion blur and improves motion clarity.

I am sure (I have not looked), but I would bet a lot of people must have mentioned the KTC 27 Inch OLED Gaming Monitor, QHD 2560 x 1440, 240Hz, 0.03ms, Type-C 65W, KVM, Built-in Speakers, G-SYNC & FreeSync, HDMI2.0, DisplayPort1.4, USB-C 3.0, G27P6. I purchased this monitor in Nov 20, 2023 for exactly $599.99. It is also a great monitor (though there is a bit newer version). While I know you are showing a different version (and I guess they are all different), it is good to see there may be lower price models for those of us that are retired but still love to game. Thanks so much for you shows!!!!!
KTC is definietly something i would recommend people on budget look at, i don't know about oled but a friend got a 27" mini led with that hdr 10+ sticker and it's a very good monitor and it's cost was really laughable for what it offers.
@@Adrian-is6qn You should really look into KTC. They are the original manufacturer for may brands of monitors. That is why the low cost. They have cut out a middleman. Their service may not be as good since they are usually selling to other businesses (B2B). But who does have good service anymore. I spent a couple hours the night I bought my monitor just doing research on KTC. It was really impressive. You can expect less bells and whistles, but you can certainly expect a quality piece of equipment.
I found when using a tv as a monitor to get the best response you need to turn off all the "TV" features, anything that uses the TVs onboard processing power will increase lag, things like white balance and hue even make a difference imo...
I have a 1440p LG 32" IPS 165HZ i paid 525 (cad) for it when it was on sale. IMO in my current set up 32" is perfection. The way i have my windows setup it adds "productivity". I can't complain, I love it and in about ten years time i'll finally make the jump to 4K
Keep it up Jay, I’ve learned so much from you that I began building my first ever pc with a budget of 4k and was very impressed on results, I hope others take advice from you as much as I did! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am using 2 24" panels, but also have used 2 27" at the office. The 2 27" setup was ideal for work where I had to rely upon high definition of multiple data sources, and plenty of copying and transfer done manually. I believe this set up would also be great for coding where one monitor is mainly the dev side monitor and the other is testing the app, and maintaining your Git repository
I was really excited at the beginning of the video thinking this would be my plunge to oled, but I was expecting it to be a little cheaper. And if I'm spending that much on a monitor, it better be basically flawless.
I'm excited about this product, not because it looks good, because I definitely think it can be done better, but because I've wanted this for a long time as a 1440p enjoyer, and this gives me hope that a good one will come out.
You should do a video showcasing your favorite chassis/cases, you know the ones that just stand out for the little quality of life perks and unique features.
7:40 - Oled sheets in factory are designed to be cut at larger sizes for big TVs and have minimum waste , if the factory desire to cut small screen size ( rare case because small oleds are not mainstream atm so they dont produce sheets exclusive for small screens) they waste to much material so smaller sizes oled panels are cost more compare to bigger ones ( inch to cost ratio)
I love OLED for gaming. Though I opted for the G9 OLED for that extra immersion. But once you calibrate the OLED for HDR, it's a game changer. Makes a huge difference (as long as the game's implementation of HDR is good).
I have been looking at OLED monitors for the past week. Weighing the pros and cons to decide whether I really NEED one or not. I play a lot of space based and exploration based games. So, the black levels really do it for me, but I am still undecided.
I like that 1440p OLED is now a thing for gaming monitors I just hope more brands get on board so we get a good range of choice as I feel this will be where I go for my next monitor but personally I would want 32 inches
I got ViewSonic 32" 120 hertz 1440 monitor, which was not curved to begin with. I left it near the window which is a sun spot and it is now curved outwards. Picture is brilliant. I have two iiyama monitors which I am currently using, which tilt and turn round vertically. Though don't see the need for that. I think ViewSonic should try to up the size of this monitor to at least 32", as it may lesson the bezel.
For Linux users, the vertical space could be used with a compositor which groups windows together; the music player could still be on top, but the windows being grouped together enables a compositor's parent for the few applications which would benefit from a vertical display, without needing to manage the window from your window list panel component. For viewers of Action Retro, _yes_ the way Haiku's BeOS-inspired title bar works would also be stellar.
I'm definitely in the market for a 1440p OLED monitor. Thank you for doing this review. I will keep waiting and watching for other panels to see what peaks my interest enough for me to buy. I just don't have a need for 4K when I'm sitting this close to the screen. And I'd rather up the quality then sacrifice it for 4K.
This is almost perfect for what I'm looking to pick up this year. I want speakers built in for when I'm casually youtubing, as a comfort thing, so that's the main potential downside to me (there's not a lot of nice looking panels, with decent speakers, and high refresh rates).
I bought a 32" for my first gaming monitor and ended up returning it because it was just too big...I ended up getting 27" and it is perfect for my desk size and viewing distance...A 32" screen may be better if you have a really deep desk, but I found it very overwhelming...I guess I prefer to to sit closer to a smaller screen than to sit further away from a bigger screen
I edit video on a 32 inch 1440p monitor and at just over arms length I don't see any lines or individual pixels. Since they are gonna read the comments, I only paid $135 for my LG monitor and it has 165hz refresh and is much better edged to edge and no big bar at the bottom, other than than the same size plastic they have on that one. It has and LED ring on the back just like that one. I have had this monitor for 2 years now, and yes it has HDR, but I think with it on it's to bright.
You should do a full desktop setup makeover whether it’s for yourself or someone else, I enjoy those types of videos and would like to see your version.
I still use a Samsung Syncmaster 955DF 19 inch CRT monitor, can reach 1856x1344 res. OLEDs still can't match that motion clarity, for colors QD OLEDs are just as accurate or AMOLEDs. LG OLEDs with WOLED tech have issues with warm colors.
I'm running two 27" screens. The big debate I'm having in our house is what the next monitors will be. 32"? 4K? OLED? Ultrawide? Those big boy 40" TVs as a monitor? Or just push on with these?
I agree with Jay, the screen should be at least closer to edge. I also think they should lose the speakers, I don't get it why it's on a monitor any way since most people will either have a headset or just a seperate speakers any way. Although 27 inch is nice, I personally would prefer a 32 inch too.
a 27" in portrait mode works well as a secondary monitor when using a 40-42" 4K OLED tv as a monitor. The height is about the same and so is the pixel density. Maybe this Viewsonic will get to live next to an LG tv soon.
Seeing how sharp the UFO image is at 240Hz, I instantly went "I want this!" That's the sharpest moving image I've ever seen on any screen, it's insane. I also like the white casing, and no "red because gamer" bullshit. The bezel is kinda annoying tho, but I imagine you'll get used to it pretty quickly and won't ever notice it again
Regarding the comment at 8:25 about using a 32" panel with a 1440p native resolution, yes the PPI is low on a panel like that but it really isn't that bad for gaming. I'm currently using a Samsung Odyssey G6 G65B 32" monitor which has a 240Hz 1440p panel and it's honestly fine. Besides, there are things like VSR (Virtual Superresolution) from AMD and DSR (Dynamic Superresolution) from Nvidia that allow you to render games at higher then native, so you can still run games at 4K resolution, while having the benefit of a relatively cheap (compared to native 4K 240 Hz 32" Monitors), yet large format and high refresh display.
I went with the Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED 1440p 360hz. This thing is just gorgeous and not like some other manufacturers, it’s able to update its firmware lol. It also comes calibrated out of the box with a calibration report.
Yeah, like samsung and LG main OLED monitors have been 2k for the past 2 years. Contrary, it has been really hard to get 4K, at least in 32" or smaller format.
Viewsonic 19" crt running at 1024x768 85hz. Driven by 1050ti, utilizing a basic Walmart administration vga adapter. And Jay I finally agreed with you about an visual cue. The bezel thing would indeed annoy me
I don't know what your viewership distribution is, but it might be worth thinking about the Amazon UK link. The UK left the EU, which means that EU residents won't be able to use Amazon UK without paying import fees. A link to an Amazon based in an EU country might be worth looking into.
I had 2 1440p 240hz OLED panels that came out this year burn in so far, both within months. Even tho i went hard on them, I dont believe at all this generation burns in less or not at all even with their burn in mitigation functionalities. 1 was an asus swift, the other an lg ultragear. Now im back on my 4k 144hz lcd and much happier knowing my experience wont just get worse within a month or 2.
To each their own. Pixle density, color quality, brightness, response, and refresh rates all matter... but depending on the person, their importance may vary. Have you tried a high refresh oled with a high ppi and solid color accuracy? It's real good... real expensive too (especially when you consider the hardware needed to push it). If you have the disposable income, it is very much worth it. If you don't, then it's a rip-off. To each their own.
For 1440p, 27" feels like just the right size. 32" is a little large. 32" is the smallest I think 4K screens should come in. $800 is entirely too much money for a monitor.
1440p 27" is the perfect panel for me. That said, I'm really happy this exists but it's currently too expensive for me to justify and I want to see them in the wild for a bit with regard to burn in. Assuming the price comes down over time and burn in can be proven to not be an issue then a 1440p 27" OLED would be my #1 choice for my next monitor.
The price sounds about right, I have been looking for a 27", HDR, at least 240hz, with BFI or ULMB2 and the last year models were about 1-1,2k. If it was IPS I would consider it, but I really don't want to deal with burn in. ULMB2 looks like the way to go for BFI, apparently they managed to counter the lower brightness BFI introduces, but as always Nvidia is charging a kidney for their tech. Since new monitors are being introduced with similar specs at lower price points, I want to see how last year models go down and go for a pair of second hand monitors.
Has all the specs i would love, minus one. The price. I am happy to see its on its way though. I very much cheaped out on a monitor when building my computer. Lots of ghosting haha.
I'd really like 32 inches for my 1440p resolution. I know the pixels are a bit on the larger side at that point, but it's a good compromise between refresh rate and resolution. And going down in monitor size is not something I'd like to do now.
I have a Samsung g4 odyssey. It’s a 27 inch 1080p FHD monitor. 1ms response time and 240hertz refresh rate . With adaptive refresh and g-sync the screen is buttery smooth and fast. And more then serves the purpose I needed it for. It’s an HDR panel but its color accuracy isn’t that great. But good enough for me! Not looking to buy a monitor any time soon. Waiting for the price on the g9 to go down.
My Samsung LC32G7 a few years back cost the same amount. I really wanted OLED but there was nothing available. This is still a SOLID monitor but boy would I like to upgrade to OLED
Edit> Just found out that Blur Busters have actually verified this monitor, it may actually be the first OLED monitor to get that Blur Busters badge (a massive deal and if they have verified it, that means it's good), interesting, it's such a shame then that it uses ABL and is matted, otherwise this may have been the best OLED gaming monitor releases so far, what a shame. Viewsonic could have stood out from the crowd with their OLED gaming monitor and shipped it with their amazing PureXP strobing tech, which is one of the few Blur Busters approved motion clarity methods so far, BFI is great though, but not on par with PureXP, such a missed op as PureXP is what makes Viewsonic displays special, this is just a very sub-par PPI OLED display with software driven BFI (so not even hardware accelerated BFI).
Actually, there was 2K OLED before the 4K OLED. Only recently did a 4K OLED come out by MSI, LG, and ASUS. The original was an Alienware 2K OLED and Samsung S8 2K OLED. Even more recently a 4K OLED with clear finish was released, without that mat finish.
A 1440p display makes a lot of sense for people who play AAA games with ray and path tracing because they can play with the pretty turned up at native resolution (where it always looks best) and "high" 120FPS without software tricks on an upper mid-range graphics card. And, as Jay alluded, 27" is about as big as you want to go for a 1440p display. Not my thing, but ideal for such folks.
I'm eith you. But...the display looks and, your reactions, confirms that the 240hz is the way to go. I am using a 75hz 34 inch Samsung and it is driving me nuts. Thank you, I have been waiting for some direction on this. Forgot, the 27 inch is WAY too small.
Hey Jay! I just got the Odyssey G7 neo 43 inch TV/monitor. I got it for $600 on sale and I was wondering if you would consider this a good monitor for gaming. I have bad eyesight so having a large screen is important to me, but I’ve been reading a lot of bad reviews about this monitor. Maybe you could do a video on it? Or even your input through reply would be much appreciated! Keep up the good work on the channel!
For me the biggest question is, if the display still works for a long time after it is out of warranty. Last year I had a Viewsonic monitor die on me shortly after the warranty was over and some googling showed, I was not the only one that had issues with that model. Same happened to a friend who purchased his monitors at the same time. Currently two of my Viewsonic monitors are a month out of warranty and the third in November ... we will see what happens. If the same happens again, they will be replaced with a different brand. I have not much to complain about the displays, they are fast and look great and were affordable. But having to replace them after two year because they died is not working towards my brand loyalty.
To upgrade my current 1440p144 panel, Id need the prices to drop to allow for a decent upgrade. Whether oled, 4k, ultrawide, theyre all out of my price range still.
Nice graphics. I have been looking into the new LG OLED TV's, but I think I will wait a while. I think if someone would come out with a 32", 4K, OLED, that is edge to edge, it would be worth the money. I bought the ROG 32" Curved 60/100 mhz G-synch monitor many years ago, thinking it would be a vast improvement over my 28 inch standard ASUS monitors. But it really wasn't worth the money. It still hangs in there and does most of what I need it to do, but I don't want to drop big money on a gaming monitor only to realize that it really isn't that big of an upgrade.
Jay I've been building my gaming PC's for years but with my 4090 yes I do like 4k but I'm thinking of going back to a 1420p Oled monitor. You should to an fps video on that. Thanks, Ray
the 240hz oleds are already pretty good, but the 360hz panels are even better and not that much more expensive. they started at the same price, give it a few months and buy a 360hz panel if you can wait.
I hope it gets better, my LG C2 is terrible for motion clarity. The UFO test is blurry on everything, 30fps is a slideshow (yes everything is set properly)
I've been using a Samsung QN90B for two years without any issues, so declaring that TVs don't make good monitors is just wrong. Even with my PC going to an Onkyo receiver to the TV, there's not any noticeable lag with a controller! I love you, Jay, but display technology in the non OLED market has gotten a lot better than when we were in our 30's.

You need to understand what sponsored content is, it needs to make the product look as good as possible to deceive the viewer into wanting it.

Yea im rocking the LG 1440 oled 240hz rn off of Amazon
The best gaming monitor is still a high end CRT (with 0.20mm phosphor size, if it's 0.24mm, 1440p or similar resolutions will look blurry). That hasn't changed.
I actually got that Corsair 45" after watching your review video, going on 5 months of ownership and it's been absolutely amazing. Glad to see other manufacturers are starting to get into the OLED game. I know burn in is a concern but if other manufactures pick up Corsair and LG's retention systems, I think we'll start seeing a boom of these.
To clarify something:
Input lag or latency on a TV is not good unless using certain modes or settings including auto low latency modes.
I’m very curious about the videos showing that brightness adds input lag lmao, I love jay but man his tv knowledge is not exactly Rtings haha
@@Absolutjeff I know, right? I finished writing my comment and went back to the video before he said that... I wasn't sure what to say when I heard it beyond "uh... wut?"
I've been using the Samsung G8 34" ultrawide curved OLED and absolutely love it...upgraded from the Odyssey G27 Curved.....can't wait until someone finally does a 34" 4K 240hz ultrawide curved monitor..then it will be perfect!
I just setup my brother with a Samsung G8 and it looks amazing...My bro doesn't know much about tech so I setup all his stuff for him...The only thing I didn't really like about it was the stand...It wobbles like crazy! I'm gonna have to get a wall mount for him, because any time he moves the mouse the whole screen shakes...I did like that it has menus like a samsung tv though
Viewsonic in the 90s was reaaaally good at monitors
yes and then they did what they did, nothing.
It still is, at least when it comes to the enthusiast models
It's only of those.brands they wore good before dell came along, kingsington and Sony too.
I had a curved 144 hz 144pp viewsonic and it died before the 1 year mark
Into the early 2000s the best monitors were Sony, Mitsubishi, and ViewSonic
Was just unboxing one of their models from 2003 while watching this
I have a 1440p LG 32" IPS 165HZ i paid 525 (cad) for it when it was on sale. IMO in my current set up 32" is perfection. The way i have my windows setup it adds "productivity". I can't complain, I love it and in about ten years time i'll finally make the jump to 4K
We have the same monitor, Not sure how long you have had yours, but I got mine 2 years ago during a black Friday sale for $135 USD
@@NatesHomeTours I got mine also about 2 years ago. Was waiting for a while for a good deal.
Keep it up Jay, I’ve learned so much from you that I began building my first ever pc with a budget of 4k and was very impressed on results, I hope others take advice from you as much as I did! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
4k?....4k? Wow....wish I could live in that reality
Yeah but it cost me 2 years to save up for it
Definitely worth it
Just save up money bro its not that hard@@noheader
@dompost5694 exactly what I told him but for some reason my comment got deleted 🫤
at this point jay is more of a mascot than a reviewer earliest oled monitor is this video taken last year
Fortunately there is Tim from HW Unboxed / Monitors Unboxed with great reviews.
I with you Jay, I have two 42" LG monitors that I purchased early days of Covid and they are awesome.
I have an LG: 27GR95QE. It's crazy how good value some of these new panels are. Love the addition of USB C type connectors.
Holy smokes jay is getting big!
Vertical positioning is also good for working with documents, and it's a good place to keep your terminal open.
I Always hide the task bar... it's so much better.
Thanks man
The "little dimples" in the screen may be infrared detectors for the wireless remote. Mayhaps
Piques
This is almost perfect for what I'm looking to pick up this year. I want speakers built in for when I'm casually youtubing, as a comfort thing, so that's the main potential downside to me (there's not a lot of nice looking panels, with decent speakers, and high refresh rates).
27" monitor is the perfect average size. Its the medium most of us love. Especially up close to your face.
Just remember when she says it's average and just the right size... that's a nice way of her saying it's small 😂
Too small but you may be use to hearing that 😮
@@brucepreston3927😂
Or vertical for coding love that setup. I want to go back to at least one 24" monitor.
Hide the taskbar when not being used 😊
I edit video on a 32 inch 1440p monitor and at just over arms length I don't see any lines or individual pixels.
Excellent Video Jay - I have an HP Omen Transcend 2024 and it has a 1440p OLED 2880x1800 Total game changer!
I'm running two 27" screens. The big debate I'm having in our house is what the next monitors will be. 32"? 4K? OLED? Ultrawide? Those big boy 40" TVs as a monitor?
Or just push on with these?
hhmm.
4k 1000 Hz incoming
if 240 is enough, 4k is also no step-up unless for pubg, but even there stairsteps are not gone
I have the alienware dwf and love its size and performance. Gen 2 oled looks good but I don't think it justifies upgrading what I currently have
I agree with Jay, the screen should be at least closer to edge.
Jokes about plaid are simply not okay. Far too many lines get crossed.
You know what they say "There's no such thing as Plaid publicity"
You bastard xD
I giggled like a girl reading this.
😂
This hurt my soul
I went with the Alienware AW2725DF QD-OLED 1440p 360hz. This thing is just gorgeous and not like some other manufacturers, it’s able to update its firmware lol. It also comes calibrated out of the box with a calibration report.
The Alienware DWF is Oled and 1440, VESA mount, 34". You forget Alienware exists Jay?
Agree completely, 27" is a little on the small side, would prefer a 32" 1440p myself. Haven't owned a Viewsonic since my 19" monitors.
Yeah, like samsung and LG main OLED monitors have been 2k for the past 2 years. Contrary, it has been really hard to get 4K, at least in 32" or smaller format.
I have a TV now that is 4K 10bit 144Hz over HDMI and it works completely fine. It makes a great monitor.
I’ve had my lg ultragear for 1 year and 5 days. I’ve had zero issues with burn in.
I'm using 3x 25" IPS at 60Hz and its perfectly fine imo.
With those two monitors side by side I would have guessed that the smaller one was 23" or maybe even 19". 32" really does make a difference lol
Nice box looks like They got it at Walgreens.
I'd really like 32 inches for my 1440p resolution. I know the pixels are a bit on the larger side at that point, but it's a good compromise between refresh rate and resolution. And going down in monitor size is not something I'd like to do now.
Cool to see more OLEDs, even faster ones. I wonder about BFI many lack that. Though I'm waiting to see that 4K DFR Asus one.
Waiting for the price on the g9 to go down.
im with you on missing 1440P 32" oleds. Running RTX 3080 on two AOC 32" 1440p monitors now and i would love a oled monitor at the same size
its wild how in the US its 900$ and in the UK its 1026£ the math on exchange rates isnt adding and makes me sad
exchange rate plus brexit
I was excited at this at the beginning. But then definitely mid by midpoint.
My Samsung LC32G7 a few years back cost the same amount. I really wanted OLED but there was nothing available. This is still a SOLID monitor but boy would I like to upgrade to OLED
4K 32" OLED is my next monitor. Currently have a 2K 27" LCD 144hz
You know that new Cougar case you just reviewed?! This would look AWESOME with a build in it along with a white keyboard and mouse!!!
Here in Brazil we have a 1440p OLED from Dell under Alienware brand, but its a curved ultra wide.
If they make a 32 inch panel I would consider buying one.
“If you have skipping and ghosting, it means your panel sucks at both” 😂😂
I'm eith you.
Its ok Jay, I agree a 27" screen is a little small. Would much prefer a 32". I can't imagine going back to a 24"
For me the biggest question is, if the display still works for a long time after it is out of warranty.
I'll keep my 42in 120hz LG C3 Oled TV. Cost the same, and it's 4k. Very happy with my purchase.
My 42 inch LG C2 Oled 4k TV I meaured 2.5 ms input lag with a time sleuth lag measure device. That is basically zero. About 1/7 of 1 frame at 120 hz
Thanks,
Ray
27" 1440p is the sweet spot. Waiting for lower prices and one of this will be mine
Did I hear someone burp at 2:06 😂😂😂
Me too bro
the 240hz oleds are already pretty good, but the 360hz panels are even better and not that much more expensive. they started at the same price, give it a few months and buy a 360hz panel if you can wait.
I hope it gets better, my LG C2 is terrible for motion clarity. The UFO test is blurry on everything, 30fps is a slideshow (yes everything is set properly)
The "Cup holder" is for the remote control. 18:10 Never mind.
