NC500 In Our VW Campervan Episode 2 - John O Groats to Sango Sands

- Welcome to part 2 of our NC500 road trip. You left us in part 1 having just arrived at John O Groats Campsite. We pick up the story from there.
On the first day we spend time exploring the area around John O Groats - taking in Duncansby Lighthouse and the sea stacks. We also have a beer in the brewery and take the obligatory sign post photo. After this we head back to see Whaligoe Steps, which we missed when we passed by in Episode 1.
Following this we head West towards Sango Sands and stop off at Dunnet Head and Dunnet beach. We also call in at the Golden Eagle Zipline in Durness, and Lou smashes the zipline experience. Just before arriving at Sango Sands, we stop to check out Smoo Cave.

Haha a couple of swear words slipped out but I didn’t do too bad 😂 It was definitely fun, but also scary at the same time. 😂
Did you notice the 👆 on top of the castle lol. We visited a friend ( for a day 🤦🏻♂) at Dunnet head..stayed in Inverness - did a day up there & back then to Lochinver to another friend the next day & back to Inverness, , pre van , a lot of driving but glorious.

That does sound like a lot of driving to do in a couple of days, but I bet you still had the best time!

Hi both loving your latest NC500 vlogs, just about to take delivery of our first ever VW Camper (very excited !!) What route have you taken on the NC500 and how long will it take you to complete, also do you use onsite electric at all the sites you stop at - Keep the vlogs coming

Great news about your camper! I bet you can’t wait! Is it a Cali or have you had one converted?
The trip took us about 2 weeks in total. That includes getting up there from Leicestershire and back down again afterwards. We went East to West (anti clockwise) and we also included a couple of detours from the traditional route (Skye for example). Yes we had electric hook up at all the sites we stayed at. @@VanVibesandSibes Would love to do the NC500 next year as its looks a fantastic route to do. We've purchased a brand new conversion, can't wait to start using it when it arrives. When you have completed it would you be able to share what sites you used along the route.
You should definitely do the NC500 next year! We’d recommend it to anyone. We had the best time! Obviously we mention the campsites we’re staying at in each NC500 episode, but we’re thinking we might do a separate video on that as well. We hope you have some amazing adventures when your van arrives!
