- This old house was built in the early 1900’s around 1912. I filmed it a few years ago in 2017 and decided I’d see if it was still there and surprisingly not much had changed besides the houses condition being worse. Included some old pictures from the last time I was here and also took a deeper look at the basement and found a strange staircase, almost seemed like a tunnel start but would leave to hear any ideas! This house is very similar to my g parent's home. They moved there in 1917, and l remember g ma telling me that when it was built, long before that, people came in wagons from miles around, because it was the biggest house in the area. Gypsies used to camp in the front yard. G pa would let them, g ma would feed them, but keep Dad and his 3 sisters inside! Ow! The hired man's staircase! Wood, and extremely steep! I, and all the cousins each took turns falling down those! Same porches, windows, doors and hardware, stone exterior access cellar. That recessed place may have been the coal bin. G pa's is all gone now-every building and tree bulldozed out. But what happy memories! Thanks, Kappy, and love to you and Ruby! 🌲🏠 🌲

Such a sad old home. Hoarding or storage. This was not a prestigious home, this was working people's home. Not alot of details or splurges. A functional home only. Sad to see it decaying with things that other people could use today. A depression era home. Nice find Kappy!
You were right in my backyard with this one. Your steps in the basement went to the root cellar. Notice the witness marks on the door jamb. There would have been a heavy, tight fitting door to keep it cool and keep critters out of your potatoes, carrots, beets etc. The coolness from underground would preserve the veggies for months. Some of the older houses around here would have the same setup with a spring running through them where they would store milk before hauling it to the local creamery for resale.

Hi Kappy. You are so fortunate that you can still find these old rural houses still standing to explore. I lived on a farm as a kid in the mid-west and a few years ago I drove through the area where I lived and a good share of the farms I remember as a kid were all gone ( including the house I lived in ) .The houses and all other buildings gone and converted back to fields. It's like these places never existed at all . 😥 Have you ever considered doing a live chat sometime ? I'm sure it would go over big. Lots of ?'s. BTW I noticed that in the one upstairs bedroom that the table on top of the pile in 2016 was now mysteriously on the floor in 2022.

I totally agree..... some that I wanted to explore are torn down now..... but I have also found some gems!!!
There's are three old abandoned houses in my street. One of them had a geocache around it, and while looking for it, we found an entrance to it. Generally, I filmed the outside, since I somewhat thought this old living house and store (the person who lived in there had a business) shouldn't be forgotten. But suddenly, some of my friends wend into it! While I somewhat am tempted, as well, it's already collapsing. You can see how some rooms are already completely demolished, allowing you to look a little bit inside. The friends that went inside also only went inside a bit before it was already too dangerous... But the stuff I found outside - or rather when you peek inside the open doors - were interesting enough for me. Still, it's sad for me for some reason... :(

No Ruby today? I love when you go back to houses after filming them years ago. It's interesting to see if any one will save it, or if it will be torn down for what they call "progress". I don't understand why some people have to rummage through a house and just leave things strewn about like that. No respect at all!! Thank you for sharing this explore, the second time. Such a beautiful view, imagine what it was like 110 years ago. I didn't see a fireplace, PA winters are snowy and cold, I wonder how they stayed warm enough? I too could sit on that porch all day... still! At one time there must have been a plentiful garden, the basement/cellar would have been a cooler place to store canned goods, and help preserve potatoes, eggs, apples, and winter squash. It looks like they might have made their own wine, or just stored their booze bottles! Thanks Kappy, see you next week!

Wow, if you overlook the wreckage it was a sweet cottage-like home at one time. It has so many charming features…beadboard, the screen door, doorknobs and fixtures…Sad that no one kept it up after the lady passed….That view!

Charming old house. Always liked the separate entrances to the basements. Saw that half collapsed room. Pity. Bet it was a beauty back in the day. That is the most beautiful view I have ever seen. 😍 fantastic explore, really enjoyed it.

I've never heard of storm cellars in PA before. I have a rough idea of what county this house is in, tornados are extremely rare. I think its a root cellar for storing potatoes and whatnot.
@@canislatrans8285 my in-laws up in New Hampshire have one in their cellar just like the one in the video. Actually it's about two steps deeper but identical. I asked what it was for and my brother-n-law said it was for severe weather. I didn't think NH ever got twisters, but I was told differently.

The vandals were there judging by the way everything was thrown around. This place
was creepy especially that basement and those steps that were in there too, pretty
weird. All those mason jars, the old lady must have loved canning. I’m sure in its

Pretty cool house. I imagine it was really nice at one time. It’s looks like someone has been using it for a dumping place. And also stuff left there. Decay is definitely taking over. Beautiful views! Thank you!

Hi Kappy, I love ihis video, revisiting a house you showed 6 years ago. At least one person, other than you, has visited the house. In some rooms objects are set differently, probably to make nice photographs. But all the other changes are due to natural decay. Simply beautiful.
Yes! Awful school courses are over and this is probably the first Kappy adventure I have been able to view for two months. I love seeing the architectural details and questionable decorating choices in these old houses. The cellar looks like it might be older than the house, and you found where they kept their still during prohibition 😏

The Rock step area in root cellar was for keeping food that need to be kept cold before refrigerating...house foundation may be older than house that is there now.

Interesting find kappy! I bet this place was a looker way back when.To bad someone didn't have a picture left behind to get an idea.The veiws is spectacular and in every season must be beautiful,to bad the inside was so damaged,we could get a better idea off how it once looked.The porch was sweet,wicket table set,chimes,lanterns and iced tea,and I'd be good to go,thanks kappy!

The countryside is so beautiful there. Easy to see why they built there. Are there laws that govern removal from abandoned homes? Some of those vintage items would be gone in a heartbeat.
I found this to be an interesting one. I can totally picture lots of people I knew living in a house just like this when I was a kid. That wood paneling and bizarre, ugly but lovable bathroom with its wall paper to take a once-grand house in 1910 and garble it up with different eras' kitch looks. I spent a lot of time working on the new Rubik's Cube as a kid in spaces like that. Reminds me of childhood at my grandparents' farmhouse built in the '20s. They had bright 1970's furniture with a huge cabinet TV with a lava lamp on it! Green carpet. This remained until well into the '80s even though it was way out of fashion by that point.
I would love to go there and capture the beauty of this place on my canvas, yes that is right just sitting still in time. What a way to say it. The hardware was still on thiese doors. The wallpaper is bright yet. Thank you for this tour. It was a great one. lean on

So, so beautiful. I thought those second stairs was either a pantry or a safe spot to go if a tornado came through (kinda like a fall out shelter). Don't know. I did remember the last time you were there too. Some of the things were missing.

Interesting "basement" that would have been great for storing your canned foods perfect temps though in the worst of winter I sure wouldn't have wanted to go outside and over to the basement to get food. It would have been a good place for storing things like potatoes onions squash loved seeing it very unique. I'm puzzled by the step down part too as to what they would have used it for. Anna In Ohio
In the basement I think those steps could have lead into a natural spring (dried up now) to keep things cold back in the day or it was a wine cellar from all the green bottles all piled up in the corner. That is my guess...

1990 is such a long time ago. I feel that old woman was alone much of the time? Maybe one of her grown children lived there too? Maybe the county did home visit occasionally? Seems sad. The packing but not moving indicates there was intent to clear things out? Big black garbage bags though, implies much was to be discarded? Maybe donated. There just wasn't a reason to finish the job? Sad.
I think the extra steps in the cellar basement, was a deeper, therefore cooler area to store certain things. Like wine and meat? In 1910 there wouldn't have been refrigerators or maybe no ice box cabinets at that house.
I’ll say it again… If I were young again I would have a salvage company. Someone should save the memorabilia left there and all that good wood and old doorknobs, locks etc…. Keep up the great explanations. 💖🇺🇸

Sad 🤔 what a beautiful area. She would be very upset to see her house in such disarray. Why wouldn't anyone want that property 🤔 Also horrible that whomever did that mess. She probably minded her own business just making jellies and such to can. Wow beautiful by the water. Shame to be wasted. Wonder who does the lawn🤔 🇺🇸

It's sad to think, the older lady that lived there probably raised her children in this house and put her life and savings into the house to make it home for her and family, then to see it as it is now 🥺 just heart breaking 😢💔

Very cool. I'm gonna guess that the step down in the basement was probably to a coal bin. Pennsyvannia has the biggest coal reserves in the Country. Bituminous and anthracite. One was used for heating and one was used for the coke ovens of steel mills.

I like the vintage electronics. Some are destroyed like the radio. Sad about the old woman but maybe her soul is in a better place.
