I really liked the fact that you took both units apart and checked the part numbers of main components as it gave a great insight into these Android HU . Keep up the great work.
Switch off loudness. Loudness is intended only for low listening volume. It boosts the bass and high frequencies to compensate for the perceived lower bass and treble at quiet listening levels. The loudness filter will cause distortion at higher listening levels.
Potentially blowing the loudspeaker in the process at high level.
Only exception is older Nakamichi radios. I have CD400 and sounds great with loud on.

What are the specific DSP features? Does it have time alignment?
DSP is only worth discussing if you can at least control time delay and crossovers. Not just whacked EQ.
Great vid.. can you do one for if its better to run a car with MAF sensor or without? from what i've seen on my car and others, it runs better without it.. but almost every forum advise against it..
I can now purchase a 65" 4K LED HDTV for $550 with built-in Roku. Kind of makes these tiny head units seem overpriced by comparison.

Yup...they're WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Overpriced imho. They can charge these prices (and make a furtune!) cuz people are paying it...for NOW! Jensen just came out with a killer unit with Android Auto anbd Carplay with built in Nav...and it's like $259! And.... sounds WAY better than these type units.
You think 180 is over priced. Go look at pioneer and alpine brands. In the same 7 inch configurations. Looking at 7 to 800 bucks. These android units are amazing. And good for the price. Make an old vehicle come to life with one of these.
Frank Olvera These androids units are garbage. Had one for over a year, i had so many problems with it that i decided to finally throw it out. Radio reception and audio quality suck. Most features advertised never worked. So many glitches
Those EQ settings made me hurt. Otherwise, good work though.
Well ofcourse both units have some kind of DPS in them since both of them have a digital equalizer in them. Thou the new one might have a dedicated chip for the DSP which is more powerful.
And also the reason why the new one might sound better to you is because you have an eq setting that you prefer, so its not really because of that shiny DSP chip..
That's not how it works. The non-DSP unit does not have a DSP chip and outputs analog signal. The DSP unit outputs digital signal.
Can u wirelesly stream Netflix or like Google maps to the head unit from the phone? Or does it have to be connected
I have some car settings that are wrongly set on "off" which should've been "on". for example AFL function with automatic high-beam is set on "off" but i had it in my "analog" unit before. is there a way to change these functions? Same when I reverse and the side mirror folds down to show me the curb.. cant set that function to on either. would appreciate some advice, dont seem to be any info about these things anywhere. I have a PX5 with android 9.0.

Hi I'm in the market for a 10.1 android stereo what would you recommend.. I want something with tilt swivel and I also saw one where the screen could be moved up and down height wise... Can you recommend something like 4gb rom plus and 32gb memory or more octa core... There's many but what would your advice be for 2019

Hi...I bought Nakamichi NAM5210-A9 recently and i am disappointed with the audio quality. I have double checked the audio settings but its not upto the mark. Infact the audio system which came with the car sounds much better. What might be the issue? or these units lack the quality

I got the DSP Model an have a issue: When DSP is activated and the volume is under 6 the sound is like muted. I cannot hear music under volume 6. I tried some other settings but cannot find something. Can anyone help?

I think having slow boot on is important, especially correlating with your car warming up.

the one from androidautoshop. DSP is great, but still NO sub output. For that you need a modified cable. Better buy the dsp unit from aliexpress. :)

So if the equalizer prevents oversteer, does that mean you don't recommend the unit for a drift car? That's a bummer because I like playing fruit ninja on the radio while crab walking around a roundabout.

you obviously didnt even pay attention. the point of installing this head unit was that it had an integrated dsp, not because he wanted to change the way he played music with it
You'd still stream music from phone with a regular stereo with Android auto or apple play.... The advantage here is you can mirror your phone
I only want a digital audio output (spdif) for maximum quality, don't need a DSP inside.

It's clear to me that people have no clue what a DSP actually does. You want BETTER audio? Look for a high quality DAC.

@MGazT I don't know for me there is no point to look for better audio quality in an Android device where you are playing MP3 by Bluetooth and why do you need one when everything is already in your mobile phone?

Feature wise the cheap android radios are great but having tried 2 of them audio quality is pure crap. So bad even my wife complained. I tried these units in a full after market system at that time Alpine speakers Kicker sub and Rockford Fosgate amps even all that couldnt help in sound quality. I went to Alpine SQ was obviously 100 times better until it failed and went to Kenwood really great SQ as well.
Bottom line, you have to decide looks and features vs real sound quality.
you cannot do a proper audio test streaming music via bluetooth.
Bluetooth is the weak link in your audio system.
You must play files from the head unit itself to test audio quality.
if you MUST stream from your phone make sure the phone volume is at max to get the most volume out of the head unit...
quality may vary....

@@perepasqual4467 HU itself just cheap. Why can they just copy Pioneer IC chip? Even my 10yrs old pioneer sound better than my new android unit.
Should have kept your old head unit, and purchased a JL twk 88 DSP then hook a laptop to it and then you could really get into fine tuning your system!
And I actually wanted to buy an xtrons 1hu D710P model. Now, im not so sure.

Why are you testing over Bluetooth? Thats going to degrade the quality significantly before it even gets to the deck y ou are testing. Perhaps maybe the DSP can recover some of the loss but take the smartphone and the Bluetooth out of the mix so you can give it a good test!
Exactly. You need to be reading from the unit (SD card or USB), preferably FLAC files.

4th gen Bluetooth isn't actually all that bad, especially with Aptx units... Nothing is as good as flac, but Bluetooth is a fuck of a lot better than it used to be. Within a few percent of usb.
how does that make sense. Stock system, shitty speakers and nobody downloads these huge FLAC files nowadays. doesnt make sense to test it with super high bitrate just because of a few percent better quality. Nobody would notice a difference.
Can you tell us what BT chip it has? Does it support Aptx or any HD codecs? My Android unit sounds terrible over bluetooth :(

nur ein kleiner unterschied. Würde nicht upgraden bei einem standardsystem. Nice 159er is cool :)

These fully-powered Android head units don't make much sense these days, they should only have Android Auto and Carplay for a fast boot time and no obsolete operating system in a few years time.

My research tells me The newest Px6/Intel units by Joying and Daisatu sound awesome. I ordered a 10.1" Intel SC9853i unit (not the newest as those have car play and Android auto and 4gb/16gb memory... Mine will have Mirroring instead with 2gb/16gb memory. Both have 4x50 watts max and Sub out. My unit arrives tomorrow I'll come back with my findings...

Ich habe ein cde-178bt neuwertig für 150 geschossen und mein 10 Jahre altes alpine für 70 verkauft. Alles andere ist vw Stock, und der Klang ist echt sehr gut. Würd mich echt interessieren wie sich das Gerät im Vergleich anhört. vlg
You are absolutely right there is no better head units then alpine that’s what I have always run in my comp cars. Now though I use my factory headunit with a separate DSP for even better sound.
I've been checking out android stereos for a while now. Ducks to hear the sub output doesn't work. I like this dsp unit.

Android auto sucks. You can see if for your self download the app on your phone
android auto shop stated that the unit is rooted, can you confirm this claim in the settings?
