For my supercharger setup I decided to go with a ls4 tb since I'm going with a 2.9 pulley. I guess the ls4 tb gives a lot more throttle response than the regular lsj tb. Can't wait to see more videos on your build.
I went with the LS4 TB as well but with a 2.8 pulley. I've been driving it with the supercharger on there for about 2 weeks and I'll be doing a video on it soon!
Could you flip the inlet and outlet so that the exhaust goes into the side that has both the straight pipe and bent pipe, and goes out the side that has only the 1 pipe?
You lose a lot of sound dampening by having the quiet side come straight out. You want the pipe to stay small and come out at an side angle into the main path. It shuts it up a lot more. Should have just added a single into dual tip to the muffler as it was
Great video! We have had some experience playing around with ebay valves and valved mufflers for our weekend race car that has to be driven to the track. The problem we have found so far is the cheap flaps fall apart and rattle or dont seal up after a few months. How is your holding up so far? We are looking into your exact muffler set up as well. Thanks.
Is the electric motor still functioning? I heard that these electric valves go bad pretty frequently. Also how is the backpressure when you close the valve? I'm guessing it would increase it quite a bit.
The motor works perfectly but the control box did go out. I swapped to a generic exhaust cutout control box and it did the trick. I imagine the back pressure is higher but I don't notice a loss in power or a change in boost pressure with the valve closed.
With the valve open it is basically a straight pipe so it doesn't sound any different than if the muffler wasn't there. With it closed it is stock quiet.
The control box only does closed or open all the way. If you wanted to wire up your own momentary switch you can have the valve open/close to wherever you want it to be.
does the muffler drone at all or is it quiet with the valve closed? I have been trying to eliminate the drone on my car, but I like the raspiness of no resonator. I cruise down the freeway at about 3k rpm.
Is that remote thing that opens the valve and closes the small motor is it mafe of steal or plastic? Last time ended bjying from Blackracing Guy from ebay and i notice thise small motor are made out of plastic they dont last
I would get 2 for a cammed LS, they neck down really small inside to make it quiet with the valve closed. It might be too restrictive with just one and the valve closed. I'm more than likely going to run 2 of these on my cammed 5.3L Saab 9-7x(Trailblazer).
@@josephcarlson1774 I do not have dual exhaust on mine it’s just a longtube headers into 3” y pipe full 3” piping all the way back I was going to order the 3” inlet and outlet for mine.
I just want it for those cold starts in the morning because my truck is loud I would not run it with the valve closed all the time it would just be just to get me out of the neighborhood lol then open it up.
It's been a few years, the link isn't any good now. Just search around on eBay and find something that looks close. They're all made from the same factory anyway...
@@josephcarlson1774how long did the muffler last? Still ok? Heard vacuum is preferred over electric with salt use (winters) just don’t want to spend $600 on 2 valve tronics if the half priced eBay ones are still ok
@@s2knott the only issue I have had is the control box. I swapped it for a universal one and it doesn't work as well, but as far as the muffler and valve itself, I haven't had any issues.
I have been trying to find what the inside of those mufflers look like for years, thank you for finally showing the inside.
This is a good example of one that seems to have better internal construction than the valvetronics I’ve seen online
I'm so glad you have an ecotec car, I was looking at this for my Redline

Thanks for this, I may need one of these for my '10 Grand Marquis. Quiet for the GF, loud for the kids lol
Might be a dumb question, but with the 4.6? Are those adequately fun? Wondering if I should invest in a panther platform recently.
Finally someone who shows how the muffler looks inside
Is it basically stock sounding when closed or still louder
Yep, its as quiet as a stock muffler with the valve closed.
So how’s it been treating you lately ?

I have been using it daily for about 8 months without any issue. I open and close it daily and seems to seal up pretty nice.
@@josephcarlson1774 Looks like the quality has improved. This is electronic correct? not vacuum actuated?
Yes, electric actuated.
@@josephcarlson1774 Do you have any feedback for the vacuum vs electric?
@@AutoMediaGroup_ca I don't have any experience with the vacuum operated ones.

Do you think the muffler changes the sound of the car ? Even when the flaps are open
With the valve open it is basically a straight pipe so it doesn't sound any different than if the muffler wasn't there. With it closed it is stock quiet.
Does the valve open all the way when you press the button once? Or is it possible to open the valve like 50%?

No drone, it's stock quiet with the valve closed, and with the valve open its as load as a straight pipe.
Just stopping by showing my support!

I dont like how it sounds with valve open. Can something be done that the sound is more muffled, when open ?
@@raoulraoul7129 running a better mid muffler would help with the sound.
