I like it how it is. Simple and efficient. The old one looked much more fake. But that's their charm.
I think the old one's is much more original and creative. You can clearly see the designers just thought: "reptiles are green and scaly. Let's make the Silurians green and scaly!" Not to say they look bad, just a lot less interesting than the old Silurians. Those actually looked like they were a different species from millions of years ago, instead of just humans but green. Not to mention their third eye is a really nice concept.

Hmmm something is missing from this history of the Silurians, The Sea Devils. You glossed over them and failed to mention their alliance with the Master. Now you may say "Well, Kop, that's because they deserve their own entry, as they are clearly a different species from the Silurians." To which I would answer, perhaps BUT you yourself refer to them as "cousins" of the Silurians. Somewhat implying that they are no more a different species than the two sub-species of Silurian we have already seen.
JUST saying.

@@Delphini_Zucchini The new designs are lazy. They're suppsed to be reptiles, so giving them mammalian traits makes little sense. If you look it up online there is actually and unused prosthetic mask based on the original look, and that is far better.
It also misses the racism point of the original story, in that the Silurian's monstrous look contrast with them being a civilized species.
The silurians must be in the new series because of how much coverage of them is on the channel

There are three branches of the Silurians. The original or first branch seem to be the more aggressive of the branches. While many in this branch want co-existence with the human race, some are willing to go to war and to exterminate the Humans. The second branch is the Sea Devils. Like some members of the first branch, a few don't want to co-exist with the Humans. The third branch is likely more willing to co-exist with the human race. Still some members of the third are like their cousins. They are not willing to co-exist. Yet the majority are more willing to co-exist with the human.
By the time of the First Human Empire, all of the three branches of the Silurians were treated by the Humans as equals. By the time of the First Human Empire, the primate humans became known as the Terrans. All members of the Silurian Three Branches and the Terrans call themselves HUMAN. Likely there is a word which each of the three branches use for HUMAN. Basically by the Time of the First Human Empire, the word Human was likely defined as anyone who is from the Earth and the descendants of the colonies which Humans have settled.

I don't know why but I feel that the Silurians are my favourite alliance with the Doctor I just have this feeling...
They look much more like fish orginally while the sea devils look like turtles

I wonder if the Seadevils ever make a return and didn't the 11 Doctor say when he met the Silerians that they are a diffrent branchvof the same species? Maby we will see the old desighn again but redone in a new way. Actually even dough the Seadevils also came onto land it looks like the oroginal Silerians are kinda the link inbetween the new once and them or it is perhaps due to diffrend clima and enviroments that many subspecies of them existed and we will see another new diffrend desighn...maby also some sort of cusins. Who knows?
Why do the Silaurians prefer sonic weapons over kinetic weapons?
The moon is 4 billion years old that’s the only part of the silurians origin that isn’t somewhat plausible in real life.

Cosmos is so wide with so many possible locations for lifeforms it would be ridicilous to think humans are only native somewhat intelligent lifeforms in Galaxy and even on Earth there could be some more lifeforms. 🙄

I pefer the original design really, the new design lacks any kind of ingenuity its just a human face with scales all over it and considering they hate humans its pretty stupid to make them basically human thus.

+Lünk ... you realize a ton of races look like humans, right? like half of the races they show look either exactly like humans or atleast somewhat like humans. plus they explain that they are from a diffrent counterpart of the race, that counterpart looks human.

Vastra was the best thing to happen to the Silurians in ages. Before her, every story they appeared in was a copy and paste job. It would've just killed all interest in the species within the fandom if they hadn't changed them to be able to fit into other types of stories.

Ben Pratt I've heard that audio before. It's definitely my favourite Silurian story set in the classic series. Darwin being in a Silurian story was a stroke of genius, and Evelyn has got to be one of the greatest companions ever. It did change their format up, though my comment was focused on the tv stories featuring them, as some fans don't listen to the audios so will only see them in the tv stories. The Series 5 two-parter was almost re-telling the original Pertwee story - which isn't a bad thing given that it was their first appearance in the new series, but to me it made it too similar and it's less memorable than it could've been. If the fact a character is a Silurian can matter less to roles then I think it will lead to better stories overall. Imagine how great it would be to introduce a story set after Humans and Silurians made peace far in the future with a Silurian newsreader. It wouldn't even matter what stories they were reporting, their being there would show a lot of progress in a very simple way.

The 2010 redesign is magnificent in my opinion. It just captures what the Silurians are, without any of the absolute rubbish they threw in back in 1970, entertaining as it was.
