- In this guide we'll be cooking a custom firmware for a Xiaomi m365 Mi Pro 2 (great naming guys - great ! just ! great.)
This also applies to other ninebot and xiaomi scooters, check
scooterhacking... for more details.
In this guide we'll be doing the following:
1. unlock the top speed of the scooter
2. increase the current ratings of the various modes
3. eliminate the 5kmh before torque requirement
4. opt for a smoother acceleration map and operating mode
5. smoother e-brake effect

Great tutorial. I've been using it for a week without issues. I have a xiaomi nordic pro 2 and it was limited to 20 kmh. Now it can do 32 without any issues. Nice and easy tutorial and well explained too. 👍
Hey champ i have pro 2 nordic aswell but limited to 20 kmh. Did you use the same settings as he did in the video? Im just under 100 kilos so im worried that i should put lower numbers but would prob use those numbers. I just had a Ninebot ES4 before with 33 kmh top speed so even 25 feels a bit slow now.
@@mathiasweinreich1100 I used the same settings as he did for the battery and top speed. I'm 72 kilos and it's perfect for me. It gets up to 30 km/h without any issues and it can get up hills easily.

as long as you haven't updated it to the newest firmwares, it should be fine
Hey man. It's sad that it's illegal in Denmark to go over 20kmh. May I ask why you tune it to go faster than whats legal? I don't know where you're from, but since you have the nordic version, my best guess is that you're from Scandinavia.
finally i did it after 2 tryes it works.
i set it eco = 10km, drive = 16km, speed = 24km my perfect speeds for food delivery i been trying to do this for months

Followed your instructions and the flash itself works great, however the scooter wont turn off, it turns itself back on immediately after holding the power button down for 3 sec. Any suggestions?
I have tried the following:
- Flashed the stock (vanilla) firmware
- Hard reset (brake, power button and throttle)
- Disconnected the battery cable
- Tried to change region
The scooter wont connect to the Mi Home app anymore, I sometimes get the error code 29 but that disappears just by pressing the power button. The scooter is brand new, did activate it from the MI Home app but did not update the firmware so the BLE was not 157 when I flashed it.
once you hack the scooter you cant use the app but the app is useless either way

the version doesn't matter - just flash whatever version scooterhacking gives you 🤘

Quick question.. so all modes run the same thats not an issue did read befire hand it might happen and how to resolve it.. question is.. if going them speeds in eco or walk with the settings in video will it damage motor/battery.. and if not shall I just rode around in eco cause it's set to less but goes same speed? @@Darieee thanks for reply.. because D mode goes same speed as S should the amps be set the same for D as with S
you need to differentiate between torque and top speed
torque is how hard the thing pulls you when you hit the gas / or / how steep of a hill it can still climb (that is the amps figur)
and top speed is governed by your battery voltage (you'll see the wheel spinning freely at a significantly lower speed when the battery is discharged, even with no load)
more amps will get you to your top speed faster, and more inefficiently, as all the losses go up exponentially 🔥

If this bricks (kills) a Pro2 how can we restore firmwire? We would need special wire and soldering iron?
I’m able to do the standard protocols in flashing BLE, DRV, and BMS. I had to do a hard flash reset with that ST-Link USB and it worked. The only thing I see different from today’s app and your video is that my DRV in the hack app shows “STM32F” | x.x.x does the “stm32f” info matter?

I think that the starting speed of the motor is set to 5 to save the motor.... especially with a aggressive throttle curve. My motor never made any weird sounds until I floored it at a low speed it's saved me from getting hit. so it was worth it but now at low speeds.... like super low under 3 if I hit High throttle it makes a weird like humming... its hard to describe. I just don't hit the throttle when I'm going super slow I ease into it. I have to be quite aggressive on the throttle to make it do it. Thank you for making this video. I didn't know this software existed on a laptop. I've always used my phone.
I don't know .. I've had that 0km/h start speed hack for the entire lifetime of the scooter, and my pro2 motor never changed sound ..
it's weaker now because I overheated it a couple times .. buuut, yhea, apart of demagnetising my magnets by taking them close to their curie point (probably - it's how I imagined it all went down), I've noticed zero side-effect
I have also hade full speed map since start. Bought it two years ago and put 2361km on it!

What kinds of max range do you get per charge with the faster top speed? I get 32km of range on fhe stock top speed of 25kmh. 30kmh would be nice but don't want to drastically cut down range.
don't worry about the range - if you don't floor it too hard and have higher max amps - it won't be noticeably worse
and getting there faster will feel amazing every time - there's a very noticeable jump from 25 to 30 .. way more than you'd think
I did everything, I chose all the options exactly as in the video, I reached the step where you donate (otherwise you don't receive the file), I donated and guess what, nothing happened. I went back, I searched through the files on the phone, in vain (no file receive)... honestly it's a waste of time and money.
Now if I go to the page, every time for every download of the file/ settings that you make asks you to donate...wtf.

We have tried this with my mates scooter but there is a delay once we let go of the throttle so the speed is still on for about a second after we let go? any fix on this?
I think that's just due to either the older firmware used by the CFW builder
or maybe the russian power algorithm I recommend - try doing a firmware with that off

Have a badly done pro 2 that have all limits removed. It's basically dangerous to drive. Goes full gas at the smallest change and continue one second extra after releasing the gas.
Is there any way to return all the settings/firmware to stock? Atm I wouldn't let my kid use this.

very hard to brick these - but, maybe leave it stock for a day or two until you get the gang of it

try staying below 750W, and if any drive train parts fail, be a good guy and don't send it in for warranty
replacements are cheap& super easy to install
otherwise we risk these becoming as hard to flash as iphones
I tell you what... Your battery will last much longer if regenerate braking is off. Because you release the throttle and still ride on the momentum. Eventually you press the throttle a few times and ride without the power, in the other hand, the braking adds little to nothing to the battery. The energy applied to the battery is meaningless compared to how much you ride in the momentum. Also, lithium batteries aren't suitable to charge and discharge at a such a high frequency.
Bottom line, unless you need the extra breaking, I would leave it off.

I mostly agree - low kers puts about 50-100W back in from my checking a phone screen while riding
my main use for it is in fact riding one handed - I have times where I talk on the phone and go 7-10km/h, and I neef the kers to slow me down
I don't think the li-ion cells care too much though ... I mean, electric cars have the one-pedal driving modes and those for sure don't dump the power into a balast
completely disagree with that, regenerating system works great and helped me on many situations.

Currently the scooter is activated and running on drv 229, bms 128, ble 132. Please let me know if it is safe to flash older versions. 💥

I have same problem. Or not the charging part, but that it doesn't work when battery is lower then 20%. I tried reflashing stock firmware when it stopped working and with stock-firmware it works again so I think it have to be something with this config. Have you found a solution or has anybody else had this problem?

I never touched a 3 ... there are some mentions of some updates to the cfw generator to support it so, it should be fine so long as you manage to flash it (via a clone or unupdated dash)

I try to flash my bike to do 20 km / h in sports mode with 30 amp ... but it still does 32 km / h.

I would recommend disabling KERS to lower the stress on the controller, this also means you can cruise without constantly having to be pressing down the throttle on flat ground or when you ride downhill. The auto regen braking shouldn't net you much anyways.
I recently flashed mine with the default/factory speed-limiting throttle, will try that for a few days before trying DPC, my only worry with DPC is that I will lose the ability for shorter peak currents going uphill. Also you have to feel comfortable with knowing the longer-lasting effect of a specific constant current, as wanting to hold a specific speed at any current moment depends on wind, level and type of ground your riding on.
Also, having a dashboard app (and phone-mount on the scooter) that shows your current usage live would be a good reassurance though.

as for regen/kers - on low - it won't pass more than 200w through the controller as far as I've seen
I live in a >super< hilly city so - if I can pump 200w for 10 minutes into my battery - I'll gladly take it 🔥
plus - I'm also a retard and often times find myself talking on the phone while riding (albeit a lot slower), and, kers does allow one-peddaling the ship quite smoothly - especially with a super slow ramp (180 I think I used)

nono - KERS has no effect when you press the gas
that limit is enforced by either your firmware (you can disable the 20/25 limit), or by your pack's voltage
a stock 36v pack, charged fully to 42v, will usually spin the motor up to 33kmh

Hey dude I followed exactly your video, but when I put it in Drive mode (25 A) It reaches 30kmh and not 25 kmh (like stock sport). I tried to put a speed limit for the drive mode at 26kmh per hour but it still goes faster than that. Any idea?
did you enable DPC like I suggested?
I think that bypasses all speed checks ... so ... perhaps have DPC set to always off and try again

Hei after I flash my file it doesnt seem to want to load meaning ,nothing happens when I press the load button..it has before withal different dashboard ,well anywhos my friend did it for me and I think that's why it wont let me load the new upgrade..it can it only be done by his phone then since he was the one who upgraded it

I guess you can flash anything you want
I for one had better results cooking with pro2.cfw.sh - that cooks on top of 2.x, and yields a somewhat lower top speed, but is way smoother
BMS I usually leave as is
the dash might come with a 9.x firmware - indicating it's a clone
in that case you should try cooking for downG and scooterhacking - one of the apps may fail to flash via clone dashes at times
my guy I did them settings and now my scooter makes a weird noise when it goes above 25 km/h, the best way to describe that noise is like tick on radioactive meter thing (the thing that measures radioactive in chernobyl and stuff)

all I need right now from my scooter is a speed boost, in this case do I have to adjust the amperage or can I just stick with the stock settings just to be more safe and increase it to let's say 45km/h ? Also other than a faster depleting battery will it have any other negative effect such as heating up quicker?
depends on your weight - but - increasing a pro2 to 27A .. maybe even 28A, should be ok
the newer controllers are built way better, same with the batteries
unlock the speed to 45, or - better still - use DPC, which doesn't have any speed limit capability
and see how that goes, if you need more speed - increase the current too
My brand new scooter's set up process seemed fine out of the box, before I made Mi's firmware update from within the Xiaomi home app. After updating the official firmware through the Mi home app, the LED dashboard is now always off/blank while the tail/break lights are blinking for a few minutes after which they turn off. The scooter is unusable, yet brand new. Must add that it isn't also possible to pair add it to the app any more; it says no scooter found. Any advice? This is driving me nuts to be honest.
try seeing if downG or the scooterhackinh android apps can connect to it .. otherwise either send it in for warranty if that's an option, or look into st-link reprogramming of the BLE, DRV and BMS components (first is the dashboard with its bluetooth module, second is the motor controller, third is the battery manager)

there's also a ninebot app for windows but I've never tried it

Is it possible to increase the motor power but leave the top speed at 25 with software hack? Is there an objective test video comparing the standard and the flashed acceleration or hill-climbing ability?
you can totally increase the power and keep the 25 kmh limit
just remember not to enable DPC, as that has no speed controls
just leave the acceleration algorithm to speed-based and play around with the top speed numbers

ordered dashboard with ble 129, and when im trying to flash it with this method i got error:
Flashing failed
Update failed!
Reason: Firmware/chunk size error

Also tried it using downg, and first there is popup "chunk len64", and then it says "error: " and thats it. im already starting loosing hope, lmao. What can all that shit mean?
I've done everything in the video and everything works great but i have a problem.. when battery gets to like 30% or below the scooter just starts cutting out and wont fully accelerate, just drops but then the power comes back for a sec and then goes again, even when i try going into eco/drive mode.
Which is really frustrating because still have over a quarter of a battery left
try configuring a more conservative ECO/D mode
the BMS sees the battery voltage drop beyond a certain limit when you draw a lot of power, and cuts off the power
driving super slow will let you chew into what's left ..

After that I can't use the xiaomi app anymore as fail to connect... What app do you use to check speed and battery?

try it out and see -- you can always revert back to a stock firmware from the xiaomi app if you don't tick the "version spoofing" check box

Just tried this, it said "flashing complete" but nothing happend, its still the same.

BLE 157 is the problem

can even be aftermarket (not all might work though)
and with that you /should/ be able to flash over a new DRV version

For mi pro2 with newest firmwares, it does NOT work. I did try multiple times. Nothing happens. It only fucks up the Bluetooth connection with xiaomi app. Now it does not connect. Yeey..😔

a want to go faster wats the highest you would recommend
30A with unmodified hardware
if you reinforce your controller - I have it on good authority you can go 35A
also - that doesn't make it any faster, it makes it quicker
it only accelerates faster - it still goes 30kmh
if you want to go faster than that you need to consider going with a higher voltage

I think you can leave maximum brake current phase to 55A. Otherwise braking is so so underpowered.

Thanks for taking the time to do this it just worked flawlessly on my Pro 2 (2020 model), may help it move my bulk around easier set at 30amp! I rarely use the scooter & only for short trips (with a few hills) do you reckon I’d get away with higher amps or best leave at 30? 👍🏻
I've been experimenting with incremental increases. I'm currently at 34amps and it's doing quite well. No Thermal warning or anything as of yet. I do have KERS off though.

hey mate, If I was to firmware hack my pro 2 by only changing the speed limit on drive modes and something goes wrong with it, will the scooter still be covered by warranty if I reset to default settings via xiaomi app by updating? I really want to do this but I am worried if anything happens the warranty wont do anything about it
Also if I do update it for default settings is there a risk of the scooter getting bricked?
the scooter can't really get bricked - there is always the option to buy an STLink programmer and recover the controllers that way
it's risky with the warranty though

the max speed you can go is whatever the wheel spins at when you lift it off the ground ..
it depends mainly on the voltage you supply to your controller (half battery - ie 37v will spin the motor at 25kmh .. fulk - ie 42 will do 35kmh)
I think it has to do with the time it takes to build up the magnetic field on each cycle
if you want to go faster you'll need a speed battery (ie a battery placed in series with the main one, to increase the overall voltage)
