You can now install a custom firmware on your Xiaomi M365 classic (also called normal or standard) or on the Pro without having to use an ST-LINK programmer, even if your current firmware version is 1.5.6 (ESC) and 0.9.1 (BLE) for the classic or 1.6.8 and 1.1.0 for the Pro scooter.
This can be achieved using the latest version of the M365_DownG app, version 18, and is a two step process:
1. downgrade the BLE (bluetooth) firmware (download link bellow);
2. create (on m365.botox.bz for the classic and on m365pro.scooterhacking.org for the Pro) a custom firmware and flash it on the scooter.
The BLE firmware that has to be installed on the classic (also called normal or standard) scooter can be downloaded from here:

I did this to my M365 Non-pro on v1.5.6 BLE and it worked. god damn the extra torque is worth it. not noticed too much range difference but i'll have to do more testing. Gotta admit flashing a £400 scooter seemed daunting but it was well worth it. Great video.

Now that you asked original M365... I checked with online products and from my original purchase from Amazon where I purchased the scooter and I see I paid same price as an M365 but it's not an original! I'm afraid that no it's not an original!!! Is this why I'm having issues upgrading from an classic dashboard to pro dashboard?

Yes, 072 is fine. In the video I used 073, but it turned out that some people didn't like it and I replaced it with 072 in the video description.

How about the battery..it's more fast to drain after downgrad

You should use Pro firmware.

Should I disconnect main board cabel and connect it again? I don't have any problem to connect scooter with mi app. And the second problem is that on display I had only ab 20% of the battery (one line on battery status) but when I plugged to charge on display it was 45% (numbers on display)...
You should be able to connect using DownG. Probably Mi Home or another app was still connected and that's why DownG couldn't connect.
Thanks man this save my scooter I have left in the storage for over two months after been unable to pair with Bluetooth m365 downg I have tried everything until I saw this video and downloaded version 17 apk and finally managed to connect to the scooter without the prompt to press the power button
Although while flashing it keep disconnecting but was able to get past this by holding down the power button while flashing
Anyway I am very great my m356 pro is back to live I have only done about 70 miles on it so it is still pretty new

Okay, so the first thing I did when I bought M365 two weeks ago was updating the firmware in Mi Home App to the latest version (v1.5.4).
Who would ever think that a company like Xiaomi, which a respect it very much, will do such a stupid thing.
After two weeks of using my M365 I found that when the battery goes below 70%, the power, acceleration and even max speed are sh*t.
Don't even think about going uphill. It struggles going uphill on 100% too, very bad experience.
So today I decided to upgrade (downgrade) my scooter even if I lose the warranty.. I don't care.
I flashed the BLE072 and custom firmware v1.3.8 exactly the same way and parameters as Victor did on the video.
It took me 5 minutes to do the whole flashing process.
I did a quick test 1-2 km and I can say the following: (know that I started the test at 70% battery and that I weight 84 kg)
1. The scooter accelerates at least two times faster then before downgrade
2. I easily reached max speed of 29.4 km/h
3. First time going uphill without any problem
4. No anomalies were found
I was concerned about the motor and the battery life because I found that the motor was pretty hot (but not too much) after 1.5 km riding (including 500m slope hill).
And because I ride the scooter everyday on a 5.5km flat road, all at max speed (it was 24-25 km/h untill today) I decided not to get the most powerful acceleration, but to get more on max speed.
So I reflashed the v1.3.8 firmware with the next values:
*** Took the Rollerplausch preset and edited some values ***
2. KERS min speed: 10 (default was 40)
3. Max speed in normal mode: 29 (default was 30)
4. Max speed in ECO mode: 20 (default was 19)
5. Motor start speed: 5.0 (default was 3.0)
6. Motor power Constant: 47000 (default was 33000)
I think that this way I will save the battery and motor lifetime and also be satisfied with the power of the scooter.
In the next few days I will test the scooter with this custom firmware and post my results in a reply of this comment.

Hey mate - I just flashed my firmware using DYoC and have noticed quite a dramatic decrease in range. More so than I'd say is worth it. interested to hear what your results were?
The range might drop a bit, but it shouldn't be a "dramatic" drop. Actually, if you disable KERS (which the DYoC profile doesn't do) and, instead of using the brake too much, you let the scooter slow down by itself, the range can actually be the same as stock firmware, but having the benefit of higher top speed and increased acceleration.

Hi,
I reflashed the scooter several times to find my perfect riding parameters.
KERS min speed: 12
Max speed in normal mode: 31
Max speed in ECO mode: 20
Motor start speed: 4
Motor power constant: 43000
I've tested these parameters for about 1 month until we stopped working from office and started working from home.. so I haven't use the scooter as a daily vehicle the last 2 months.
In this mode I easily get 30 km/h max on a straight road and I can go uphill. (I am 83kg + 4kg bag)
The acceleration is great.. better than ever!
The motor doesn't get hot easily.
The only disadvantage is the battery life, which is about 20% lower.
It may change to better if I disable the motor braking system but for my personal use I prefer not to.
So yes, everybody should try my settings.. they are save for the scooter and also lifesaver for the driver. If you are less than 80kg you will notice bigger improvements than me.

Speed is increased, torque is also increased, ridability is more of a personal taste, but for me disabling kers is a ridability improvement. The only possible downside is range, but this is not an issue for me.

Regardless of what speed you ask, you won't get more than 31-32 with full battery (you might get more than that, but only downhill).

I have the classic M365 with firmware 1.10_141_156_91_126 which translates to DRV version 1.56, BLE 091, and BMS 1.26. Rereading the steps I downgraded the BLE from 091 to 073 although it shows as 90 afterward. I then applied Smooth CFW. I restarted my scooter without holding down the break and I now get Eco (6km/h), Standard (26km/h), and now Sport (32km/h), a nice new addition. Remind me the difference starting the scooter with the brake on.
Worked for me on 1.6.6 - first dowgrade BLE then flash firmware and bam 32km/h , Thank you very much

Victor since you are all knowing when it comes to the M365. Today while trying to connect to the Mi Home app (haven't used my scooter in the past couple of months) it connects then doesn't display any scooter info then immediately gives me a "bluetooth disconnected" error message. This happens every time. No problems with M365 tool or M365 dashboard.
I don't know what might cause that behavior, so I guess I'm not that "all knowing" :)

I can confirm this worked fine for me on the M365 Pro which came from the factory with 1.6.6 Firmware and 110 BLE. I downgraded the BLE as shown here. I flashed BLE090_PRO.zip first and kept my scooter turned ON between flashing Bluetooth and flashing firmware (DRV155GONKA.zip). I saw a red error code 21 between flashing the BLE and the Firmware but this did not seem to cause any problems. Thanks very much for posting this video and thanks to CamiAlfa for making M365_DownG. Great performance upgrade!

It works without any problems! M365downg was updated at 8.11.2019, also m365 tools works with ble091. My m365 runs 31,6km/h right now without any power-up on engine, only speed limit set on 32km/h

I don't know what you mean by being harsh. To me it seems smoother with KERS (auto braking) disabled.

Yes, the electric motor is still used for braking.

You can't disable regen braking. It's still there! What you probably mean is that kers is not there anymore, but this is not something that might help when emergency braking.

I like kers to be disabled because the ride is much smoother and I manage to get more battery, but this is only my subjective opinion.

You don't want ble 091. This ble firmware (091) is the whole reason for which you were unable to downgrade until M365_DownG was updated. So you have the classic M365, not the Pro, right?

I'll ask again, what kind of scooter do you have classic or Pro? 091 and 073 are firmware versions for the classic, but many people are making confusions, so I want to be sure that you have the classic before giving you another firmware to try.
you say to put 072 on the pro and the 073 on the standard but in the description youve linked the BLE for the standard as 072

I kept the KERS at 10kmph, as it helps me a lot without the mechanical brake.
Max speed in Normal mode 31kmph
Max speed in ECO mode 23kmph
Motor power constant at 42000 as I live in Cyprus and here the weather is hot
Always boot in ECO mode for my son safety (he is always with me and I keep firmware with max. speed 20kmph if he is not listening to me so I flash it immediately )
And right now I am 3D printing parts for rear suspension mod for the m365 as now I will ride it more often.

You don't need a Mac or PC at all. Ideally you would borrow an Android phone, but there is an iOS version of the M365 DownG app (not extremely reliable from what I heard), so you could do everything on your phone. The flashing process only takes a few minutes.
I am just about to get an M365 and I was wondering, is the chip your flashing in the dash or the BMS in the board? Thinking of fitting the pro dash and I wondered if that would undo the flash? Thanks
The ble firmware is stored in the dash, the drv firmware is the main board, which is placed in the deck. This means that fitting a Pro dash will replace the ble firmware. Also, if you fit a Pro dash, you'll have to flash a Pro drv firmware also. Actually, flashing the drv firmware would be the first step, then replacing the dash.

Just bought a late 2019 Classic, it's running Firmware 0151 and BLE 0091. Weirdly, when I try to select BLE72 to install in the Open Bin file browser, it remains grayed out and unselect-able - same with the main firmware. Is this because I'm on 0151 and communication from downG isn't allowed? I'm on a Pixel 2. Great video, appreciate the help.
Turns out with my version of the app, anyway, it didn't like anything other than the originally downloaded ZIP archives. Once I selected those, original firmware updated. But I wasn't able to change from BLE 91 to 72, strangely enough.

Acum am montat un display de pro pe o trotineta clasica (am facut un update din xiaomi home) si nu stiu ce firmware si ce ble sa folosesc pentru a pune din nou un custom firmware. Clasic sau pro? sau o combinatie intre ele? Daca cunosti raspunsul m-ar ajuta foarte mult inainte sa stric ceva la trotineta. Multumesc.

Starting point being classic ble module and 1.3.8 esc firmware, you need to do the following:
-flash GonkaD365
-replace classic ble module with Pro ble
-if needed, flash Pro ble

I have BMS 107 running on my M365 I got the scooter new and it running 1.5.1. I’m trying to “speed hack” it, just try get a few more kph outta her lol I notice my battery dies a lot quicker on the 107 but I’m not getting any more speed?

I have 1.5.6 and BLE 0.9.1. -> I followed the steps and exactly, but it doesnt change the BLE version. Installation is just as you described it, but when I check again it says BLE 091 again. Any advice? Thank you!
Maybe a stupid question, but why would you need the MiHome app when M365Tools shows plenty of information on scooter status, including firmware versions? MiHome is buggy too, it can't find my new Pro...
Not everyone knows about M365 Tools. Also, many people are using the Mi Home app for other Xiaomi devices, so they already have it and don't want to install one more app like M365 Tools.

Actually it does. You can restore the factory firmware using the Mi Home app.
will this work with xiaomi essential?

Hi, I've just purchased one today not even done the app yet, as it comes with 2 years warranty, say if I had a fault with it and changed it back to the original software, would they know it has been changed?
They wouldn't know, but the problem is that you might not be able to return to the original firmware.
For some reason my app doesn't have a check version button.
I have tried downgrading to multiple firmwares only for all to come back as failed. Eventually after failing so many times, my ble, bms and drv are all version 0.0.0.
Can you tell how to return original firmware? I did hard reset with all buttons, is that enough?

Victor, very good video. I do not really like the downgrade to BLE and firmware. How to reset and downgrade back to 0.9.1 (BLE) and latest firmware? When I try to update via the Mi home app it tells me unzip failed. How to get to the latest version of firmware and BLE?
The error you get inside the Mi Home app is not related to the firmware present on the scooter. It's an issue with the app itself. I suggest clearing the cached data of the app and to try again or to try to use a different phone.
And by the way, why don't you like the custom firmware?
Boss, I tried to do a custom firmware on my m365,; something happened and I see no more bluetooth, an also only the 3 leds are lighted on the scooter, I cannot turn it off. What can I do now? Any ideas?
I download the BLE072 cuz it's the only one I can for the classic, and then I flash it using M365 downG. It stops at 98% and when I then connect it again and tap "Check ver." it is still BLE091
Try multiple times, try with a different phone.

Hi Mate, you was right I fitted the PRO dasboard to my scooter and it all works correctly and I can even switch the front lamp on now!! Problem I now have is I connect to the scooter via 365 down G but when I try to open the 'Bin' there are no files there?? Any ideas
You need to create the custom firmware using one of the websites from the video description, save it to your phone and then open bin and look for the file you just saved.
I can connect to the app at firts, but when i check version or batterinfo it says "cancelled due to retry" and disconnects.......i have firmware 1.7.1 and m365 is production date 30/7/2019
1.5.6 old version does not load I tried from another phone and the wheel does not stop
And i also removed the battery cover and rebooted it manually by pushing the little button on the circuit board, still nothing.
can i do this on the xiaomi essential or will it be damaged???
