Hi Jonathan, I have been playing poker for 16 years now and always thought I was pretty good. I never have studied Poker like I am now though thanks to your videos and classes. It has had an immediate effect on my MTT game and now the thought of going pro one day seems a lot more attainable now. Last Sunday, I got 2nd place in the 200k guaranteed tournament on Ignition, and took home 21 grand!!! My biggest win by far. And I do not believe I would have done so well in that tournament without your help....
Do not be afraid to go for it, best advice I got in a long time. Had a few deepruns recently. E.g. Finished 14th of 1700 last week and felt good about it at first, but was way to afraid and didn't cash nearly as much as I could have with fearlessness. Let's get hardcore now and ship
Brilliant content Jonathan from over here in the UK. I have been playing poker since 2004 and used to do ok back in 2006 and the poker boom era. However I have had to admit to myself that I have been losing alot of money playing poker over the last 10 years and am not quite the player that I thought I was. Part of the problem is I dont have any friends close by who also play the game that I can work on improving my game with. However I still love the game and believe I can turn it around with plenty of study and your coaching. I joined poker coaching this week for the year and will hopefully get enough funds eventually to go premium. The way I see it now is you are my personal coach. It is my dream to become one of the best players in the world and I still believe I can do it.
Barry you are honest guy accepting that there is something wrong in your game and looking for a expert to overcome shortfall is one of the steps to reach your goal.
Great content, thank u soo much for all your videos, just watched this before my tournament. Finished 10th out of 110+ players, I had 10bb with JTs and ripped it all in based on gto, big blind(chip leader) called with Q8s, and that was my final hand. (This was a bounty knockout tournament on pokerstars)
Great commentary and coaching - super helpful. The Q/8 hand vs the "that guy" ... I was with you the entire hand: call/call/call - let him build that pot and don't scare him off, that is the play. But mostly because of that player's tendencies - we know this player, right? How about raising early, ending the hand and not giving him anymore opportunities to hit on the turn or river. You'll probably say, hey thats poker and you'll win most of those. I' m just sayin, he COULD have a hand. But that's poker, haha. Cheers, dude
Ty I started watching poker videos last year...in December I joined poker coaching... watching this video made me realize I've learned alot (thanks to you mostly) ..Funny I had almost exact same situation as you with 88 and jammed , unfortunately he hit Ace .....And that's ok Nice to know you would of played the same...😊 ..the best to Mr.James,Sir Thomas and your lovely wife Amy..... Looking forward to having coffee ☕ in person and sitting across from table someday.
“Rivers a three, we lose to 54. Are you guys worried about that?” LOL I love when he gets on y’all about undervaluing strong hands. Top 2 pair is a monster on this type of board
just got my first 2nd place after catching a 5th just a few days ago… had to come and thank you you’re the man! i watched this video and many others multiple times highly recommend!
Over the past two weeks I've played 16 tournaments... all with over 500 people- most with over 700 people..., I won two of them .I placed in the cash in 14 of them and made it to the final table in 10 of them .⁶4⁴4 I'm wondering if I began to play better but it's not that I just stopped playing bad and at 12: 30 in your video you make a comment that is so profound I thought the higher the stakes of the tournament the better the players but it's not true all you have to do is sit there and play sound poker and wait for people to make silly mistakes and capitalize and you'll be a profitable tournament player it's working for me also you have to have the discipline to let go of good hands play situational poker wait for good situations they present themselves all the time
I only play here now...as far as I can tell it is the most fair site I've played on. I too used to play here and then stop for a while now that I've come back I've been winning a lot and the suck outs have become normal not phenomenal like they used to be so if I were you I definitely give it a shot
I came 8th out of 600 on partypoker today. Super stoked. Then a top 25% finish, then a bottom 10% finish lol but you can't win'em all... Thanks for all your help! When my job comes back I will sign up to something of yours as a thank you for something to do during this lockdown.
And not to make your UA-cam comments section my blog or anything... I did notice how tight everyone get from 60th position down. I did end up winning some big hands during this time because people were only going in on what they thought were the nuts, and I was fine with losing some marginal hands here or there so they challenged me a bit too much thinking I was bluffing.
I can remember at least two tournaments that I won where I had one big blind left. The old adage a chip in a chair and you can still win comes to mind when I think about these situations.
Very good video, learned a lot. Now, soon as I "recover" from a sick bad beat...AA vs KK vs AA....turn K...😥😥😥 im gone use the tips&tricks you recomend.
First, amazing video and comprehensive explanation of the hands. I am one of those trying to study playing Freerolls and micro MTTs :D. I must say, that looking at the first hand analysis I got myself in awe with that move in a 600+ buy-in Tournament. I really thought that the play level would get much better at these stakes, it seems not always lol. Awesome content! Thanks!
I'm glad I watched this video lol I've been playing poker bros the last year and its almost ruined online poker for me, lost so much money to just really odd calls insane run outs and suck outs coolers etc , think I'm gunna switch to PokerStars lol
On the turn, if it's a K instead of a Q, are you still calling the pot bet with your second pair, assuming your opponent is going to barrel almost any high card? Where do you usually draw the line vs players like this?
For the first example, with q8, on the flop you can check or also reraise. If you reraise it shouldn’t be huge (because you don’t want to tighten his range to only hands that are beating you but you want him to release hands like kq , kj, kten, king 9, all queen combos with the same although him having a queen isn’t that likely, get him to fold jx etc. Your folding to build the pot should you win and deny equity for hands that have over cards and can catch. Getting him to fold all his hands outright is ideal, and folding ace x is great. Getting him to call with crappier 8’s or 6x, or calling with straight draws is good. If this is a little too loose than you could argue to call this q8s, but raise q8 with a back door flush draw, or raise with ace8 and king 8. Q8 is definitely on the line for reraise or just call. I’d reraise 20%of the time and call the rest. You usually want to reraise with strong but vulnerable hands against weak players so as to build the pot, but this is much more difficult against regs. Keep in mind that hands like 89 or 87 can be raised but you are beat by 95%of the villains 8x hands so it’s different than 8q k or ace. But, at the end of the day if you’re unsure just call. On the turn you could reraise 90% as with one card you’re much less likely to be outdrawn than if you hit two pair on the flop, and you want to deny equity to overpairs, aceq, ace8, 9/10s and j10s. You can also flat with the intention of blasting it on the river… but anytime you can deny equity and build the pot in case you win, you should
So with the 88 hand, if you had 60-80 bb, would you just flat call there or still jam? I’ve been getting regular cashes and deep runs but only 1 or 2 wins. I knew I was playing too tight but found it hard to adjust. I’m going to play with less fear now and forget the min cashes. Thanks for the great video and info.
In that first Q8 scenario, my thinking is that on the flop, by getting the best hand which won't be that often, I should just cash in on that and raise so that they can't pick up anything good on the turn or river. And then on the turn, I'd call because I'd be pretty confident that I had the best hand and I doubt they'll call a raise. Can someone tell me what's wrong with this logic?
In my opinion the hardest hands to play are 88-jj ak even QQ when you raise in a tourney and some one ships it in and you still have decent chips left I hate calling off any hands what do you think about that
super work bro... i love ur work...!!! im a good cash game player, and now i have started putting volume into mtts...im reading ur books too....my question is , if im more into mmts with 500 player field, re entry, how much should my bankroll be ? 100 buy inns??
Tip 1 get lucky Tip 2 get lucky Tip 3 get lucky. My biggest win was 1st place of 1800 players and I did it by... getting lucky. I wish skill matters :p But I just raced an important AJ vs A10 race and a 10 came on the board instantly. Pokerstars is rigged though I had like 8 drawsouts with a better A high than the other players and lost all 8 times where "skill" and percentages say I was supposed to likely win 5 out of 8 of the times. So use pokerstars to practice and get lucky. Find a better random number generator than pokerstars if you want to make a living playing poker. They can rig it legally and it's just business as usual. And thanks Jonathon for the advice. Do your best to make that poker hall of fame like I wish I were destined for... cheers.
Hi Jonathan really good video! question what are your thoughts about late reg? is there a time when you should not late reg? ie: when everyone is on level 7 and you reg? let me know thanks!!
does starting a career in poker very well financed give an edge or more room for losing does having a big bankroll mentally boost the confidence to go and play when your down to your last buy or your only buy in does that make you try harder for me all it takes is big pots an big wins from low buy ins freerolls an micro stakes im not rich i work part time and im on disability money is a huge thing for me but i dont want it to effect my game what im trying to say is do you think i should study and play low stakes cash game or should i play tournaments an sit n gos and get stats confidence and accolades by winning big from low buy ins !!!
It depends on stack-depth, not stage. Typically when you're 25-40bbs deep, in-position 3-bet size should be 3x the bet and out-of-position size should be 3.8x the opponents bet. When you are deeper stacked, using a 3.2x in position and 4x out of position is great.
Hey nice content man, here in mexico pokerbros is so popular , what app do you think is the best to play nlh online? In tournaments i have had bad experiences with pokerstars , another one you would recomend?
The last tournament I was in I got 90th place out of 2987 entrants! That was a crazy tournament! These tips do help! Of course i ran into AA with KJ all in and lost. But it was a fun tournament!
Is it true that when you lose all your early stages polarized hands vs villains with lineair range that your tournament is actually already over if you don't adapt.
IMO it's true that no matter the situation if you don't adapt your play you've already lost as some players will inevitably figure you out and wait for the opportunities to exploit.
What about when you're at the final table in second, should you be tighter then? I fucked up last night, I feel at least. I was in second, chip lead and I had a good chip lead, 7 left, I raised 200,000 the BB, he reraised, I call, two spades, he's got JQ spades, he moves all in, I call thinking he's not strong, he catches the spade on the turn.
I would def raise that q8 2pr on the turn( in the beginning). Too many draws and knowing the player is a bad player, kind of opens up the range of hands the guy could’ve had. Straight draws, flush draw are too risky to let a inexperienced player see a free river card, potentially hitting their draw. Make them pay for it. Keep the ball in your court, not theirs
when u watch these everything all goes clockwork but its really not like that , you get called by utter junk on bluffs , 3 bets , or making no hands and someone smashing chips in a pot etc , or slow play aces or something and end up losing
25.20 My number one motivation in live MTTs was just that. " A nice mention by the casino in their publication" and a nice juicy min cash. But no more of this. No more compromising the real victory for irrelevant empty compliments and tiny reward.
On 31 minutes I doubt massively that you will often get a 6 to fold. Bluffing in spots like these only works when the opponent has nothing. It's a good bluff only because the opponent doesn't jam the river which he'll probably do with a pair.
Thats funny, the first handexample being earlystage Qh8h. And i had this exact same hand on earlystage of one tourney, flatted a big(ish) 3bet, made top two on the flop and stacked an op with AQo when he/she didn't hit that ace 😁
i understand the concept of the charts, but when you say "we should be calling with..." doesn't it depend on how much the bet is? What if the player raised 7x... is it still a call?
A huge problem I have is I'm currently living in a country that has a weird agreement with PokerStars. Players here cannot join the mtt until 50% or more of the guarantee has been met. So I totally miss out on the big stack play and usually start with 50bb or less. Any tips for that?
Interesting first hand, why is raising the turn not advisable? In my mind AK is one of the few hands he'd fold, which is obvs the argument for calling, but as a weak player he's prob calling all KQ, AQ and any Qx, all combinations of straight draws and gutshots, all combos of flush draws, all overpairs, and all worse two pairs like 86s...I'm aware we block a couple of those hands but I reckon you get sooo many calls from worse hands when you raise turn here? Love the content, thanks.
I am a paying member of Pokercoaching. The 100bb chart is the only chart which has 3bet calling ranges. Where can I find the 3bet call ranges of the 40bb chart?
The implementable 15bb and perhaps 75bb should have vs 3bet call ranges as well. We are currently working to improve our preflop section to more comprehensive :)
On the topic of PokerBros, since my options are limited, is your greatest concern when you say someone will “end up in court” an agent/club directly stealing from players? If a club is backed by a reputable individual, does that reduce the primary playing concern to collusion, which could (and likely does) happen in any online environment? Is there something more that I’m not accounting for here?
There are many unrelated concerns. You could not be paid if you win. You could be paid slowly if you win. You could be cheated. You could be colluded against. You could be playing against bots. You could be playing in a raketrap that no one can beat. You could be playing in a game run by organized crime. There are many problems that make it obvious that you should avoid these games.
Jonathan Little - Poker Coaching I understand and appreciate your response, I invested a very small amount and generally just play micro stakes cash to fund $5 and $10 tournament buy ins, I’m just a decent recreational player, nothing more. Cashing out in my experience was instantaneous. I feel my game is better for MTTs where collusion is much harder to pull off because nobody chooses their seat and micro cash offers little value to those willing to cheat. I’m sure part of my mind envisions moving to higher and higher in stakes over time, but if I can maintain my strategy of cashing out a majority of my prize money after a top 3 finish I feel I can avoid getting into games where there are numerous pros (where I don’t belong) and/or cheaters (who don’t belong in the game at all).
These apps have no regulation, there is no oversite into their software. Someone could hack their servers and get access to cards and there is no one to monitor the security of it. They could purposely be sharing information that allows players to collude. There are many stories of players getting scammed/not receiving money. Many people discount this and think that because they trust the 'bag-man' or have withdrawn in the past that it is fine, but just because you have withdrawn does not mean things will always go smoothly. The people who vogue for these sites have clear financial incentives to get people to sign up, many who are not knowledgable of the risks, resulting in soft games, but also many people who could very easily get taken advantage of. I would not recommend people to play on the apps. If you play the apps, I would not recommend playing with money that would be significant to you if you got scammed out of it.
I think it's fine, if you know every person. We play 2x a week. About 12 guys, total in the pool. We run zoom, while playing. I would agree with Jonathan if you are playing with strangers. We use Pokerr 2.
Which poker site is available to the whole country that is a good site to play? I’m in Connecticut so I don’t have many options, I tried poker bro’s and it’s definitely a sketchy site.
Try out Bart Hanson’s poker club on pokerbros. Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme is playing there regularly and Joey Ingram would chat every now and then too. I can invite you to the chat if you want. Otherwise, ACR is one of the other options tho alot of complaints about server freezes. Gotta say PokerBros only downside thus far is ability for collusion.
I understand the skepticism but not having many options in the US is tough and I’ve done well on pokerbros. I’ve made over $2,000 during quarantine just playing 40NL & 60NL
As stacks get shorter, you will realize equity better out of position, so playing out of position isn't as detrimental - leading you to be able to open wider.
@@PokerCoaching thanks! I’m only 18, but I’m trying to learn as much as I can, so when casinos open up in California more I can win some more. I’m up $11 within my friend group right now thanks to you
Just started playing online but I always register with 3 to 5 levels remaining in registration with 15 to 25 bigs. Is it better to register that late or should you be getting in early. I know you will cash more often then but is it the optimal strategy
Depends on whether you have an edge in the early stage against ur opponents. Do you have an edge and are you good in early stages including deep stacks? So yeah you should register early. If your short stack game is on point you should just stick to late reg.

what im trying to say is do you think i should study and play low stakes cash game
or should i play tournaments an sit n gos and get stats confidence and accolades by winning big from low buy ins !!!
One (of many) doubt I have is what sizing to use when 3betting in later stages. Could you answer me, Jonathan ? thanks!
It depends on stack-depth, not stage. Typically when you're 25-40bbs deep, in-position 3-bet size should be 3x the bet and out-of-position size should be 3.8x the opponents bet. When you are deeper stacked, using a 3.2x in position and 4x out of position is great.
Houston we have a Problem. Good Free Stuff.
I know this is dated but what do you think about the website americas cardroom
Hey nice content man, here in mexico pokerbros is so popular , what app do you think is the best to play nlh online? In tournaments i have had bad experiences with pokerstars , another one you would recomend?
Try Bovada
The last tournament I was in I got 90th place out of 2987 entrants! That was a crazy tournament! These tips do help! Of course i ran into AA with KJ all in and lost. But it was a fun tournament!
Get a life
Is it true that when you lose all your early stages polarized hands vs villains with lineair range that your tournament is actually already over if you don't adapt.
Thank you for the upload, good vid!
I like to play like a maniac in the early rounds and chip up to x3 or x4 starting stack, then shift gears
Watching this video and getting aces to double up 😃
Nice trophies!! Where do you keep your bracelets and rings? Locked up somewhere, like Phil Helmuths house?? ;)
Good question!
You said not to play pokerbro. What ones do you suggest??
None of the apps!
31:50. Do people fold a 6? No players generally don’t fold houses.
so just calling down with any pair basically
I would def raise that q8 2pr on the turn( in the beginning). Too many draws and knowing the player is a bad player, kind of opens up the range of hands the guy could’ve had. Straight draws, flush draw are too risky to let a inexperienced player see a free river card, potentially hitting their draw. Make them pay for it. Keep the ball in your court, not theirs
when u watch these everything all goes clockwork but its really not like that , you get called by utter junk on bluffs , 3 bets , or making no hands and someone smashing chips in a pot etc , or slow play aces or something and end up losing
yes.that is not poker is beating the opponent and the manipulated algorythm
Where should I be playing online? I just started an account on WSOP app
That should be fine.
25.20 My number one motivation in live MTTs was just that. " A nice mention by the casino in their publication" and a nice juicy min cash. But no more of this. No more compromising the real victory for irrelevant empty compliments and tiny reward.
33:20 would it be profitable to jam with any pair here?
Small pairs are close.
I'm in tx border great stuff I always just call with pocket pairs
On the 25bb chart at 24:00 , why call with 33 but fold 22 when they basically play exactly the same?
On 31 minutes I doubt massively that you will often get a 6 to fold. Bluffing in spots like these only works when the opponent has nothing. It's a good bluff only because the opponent doesn't jam the river which he'll probably do with a pair.
Solide content 😎 I do love your WPT troffees. Great respect
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Most of the time I make the money whenever I think “be patient, play tight”. However I haven’t won with that strategy for about two years
Ahahhaa i can relate to this ..you trying to improve But the algorithm seem to be against you all the time ...
Variance
Identify opponents to steal blinds from and run small ball bluffs on. Win flips against the tougher opponents. Its not difficult to say, only to do.
Thats funny, the first handexample being earlystage Qh8h. And i had this exact same hand on earlystage of one tourney, flatted a big(ish) 3bet, made top two on the flop and stacked an op with AQo when he/she didn't hit that ace 😁
So what apps are good to play on??
The licensed/legal/regulated ones.
i understand the concept of the charts, but when you say "we should be calling with..." doesn't it depend on how much the bet is? What if the player raised 7x... is it still a call?
It depends on the bet size for sure! GTO accounts for that.
@@PokerCoaching dDo you mind explaining a bit more?
A huge problem I have is I'm currently living in a country that has a weird agreement with PokerStars. Players here cannot join the mtt until 50% or more of the guarantee has been met. So I totally miss out on the big stack play and usually start with 50bb or less. Any tips for that?
Get good lol
Q8 you call he’s raising if you hit a weak card on the river you raise his bet
8 out of 10. Nice king rag in the blind question. Thank you for all you do. Best of luck in the wsop.
Great show to watch
Two thousand and forty Likes so far, and during the show we in Chat were stoked when we hit 200. GG Jon.
can i play on party poker if i live in the usa?
No.
Cheers to You & the Trophies..😘😘
Jonathan Little - Poker Coaching what do you think of ignition? I’m in Australia and this is my only online option?
I like this guy - no arrogant shit....a good egg and great player
He is arrogant and egotistical imo
what site do you play on for tournaments thanks?
Which software did you use to stream multi plataform
Great job Johnathan!
Thanks!
Can you elaborate on your views about the apps like PP and Bros, can you support your claims? Not attacking, actually asking.
Can you please recommend me books for hand reading ?

Sir I really appreciate that you gave your important time for me.....thank you and big fan
fantastic video!
how much money do you leave in your online account they say you have to have 20 X the amount you want to play ?
Just because you "have to have" the money does not mean it has to be on the site. Also, see PokerCoaching.com/bankroll for bankroll advice.
ty!!!! i learn so much with this video!
What site do you use to play online poker?
How do you feel about playing on Bovada?
I am not sure what you are asking.
@@PokerCoaching what do you think about playing poker on the website Bovada?
But in 16:50 scenario, yes it’s easy push w AQ.
Where do I get charts like these.. is there a free download
Do you think how much proportion of players that learn poker seriously and normal player?
Ok?
Jonathan Little - Poker Coaching Ok question mark what? That’s a little rude Jonathan.
can anyone explain why our opening range should be wider from EP with a shallower stack as mentioned in this video?
As stacks get shorter, you will realize equity better out of position, so playing out of position isn't as detrimental - leading you to be able to open wider.
Great content thx man!
Amazing content!!
Thank you
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Where is everyone playing online? What is the best program?
PokerStars and PartyPoker
Great webinar/video. Very informative. Maybe I now have a hint what I was doing wrong. Thanks.
Just subscribe great stuff 👍
Welcome!
So why no pokerbros?
Where can I play then?
No shot I would trust an illegal, unlicensed app where I have to use a bagman with one cent of my money, and I don't even care about my money.
@@PokerCoaching well I'm in the middle of no where lol
34:00. surly, you could of one this hand iff you set mined and shoved on flop instead ? As op would fold lol
